goldmaple · 16/04/2011 23:25

ali sorry to hear about your friend:(

Don't worry about scaring me with birth stories... I still don't quite connect/relate to them even though I'm sure when I get a proper bump I might start to freak out. But its good to know that even with a traumatic birth you all have come back for another round:)

Sorry to eveyone having bleeding:( folic and caz
None here but I have been getting AF like cramps for 3-4 days. Very very mild but they feel exactly like AF cramps. Getting worried but don't see what GP can do so haven't gone yet.

They only last for a few minutes a couple times a day - can anyone tell me if this is what the ligament and muscle stretching should feel like? It would make me feel a bit better, I know cramps are a bad sign:(

chipmonkey · 16/04/2011 23:28

Gold, I have had cramping with all my pgs, even the straightforward, non-bleeding, non-loss-of twin ones! I think it is just the ligaments stretching.

goldmaple · 16/04/2011 23:34

Thanks chipmonkey was sure no one would answer till tomorrow. Feel much better as we told my extendend family at a 50th birthday party today and felt like we might have jinxed it...

Will now feel better about having cramps if it is just bean growing:)

chipmonkey · 16/04/2011 23:49

Oh, I stay up late, just to act as a counselling service for all my MN friends, you understand!Grin

alicat10 · 17/04/2011 08:17

Caz that's a great article - I'm so glad they allowed enough space to cover your story properly. There's a poem that popped into my head as soon as I read your story that I've been trying to remember - I'm not techy and I'm on the phone but I'm going to try and post a link...

alicat10 · 17/04/2011 08:23
alicat10 · 17/04/2011 08:31

Sorry all, I've been in a me shaped bubble for the last couple of days but I have been reading and thinking of you all especially those with bleeding and cramps - keeping FX for lots a happy stories now that scan season is kicking in.

Thanks for all your kind words about my friend - she truly was a beautiful and inspiring woman and I feel blessed to have known her. The news wasn't a surprise but still a shock as she was fighting it and never stopped being positive. I am hoping I'm having a little girl.

Poppet45 · 17/04/2011 09:53

So sorry to hear of your friend Alicat, it would be lovely if you had a girl. And I'm sorry to hear about those getting spotting - esp Cazandbelle, if anyone deserves a free pass from pregnancy worries its you and your DH. I'm another one here still getting some spotting - still - a month in now! I never had anything like this with DS so I agree it is so hard not to have worrying niggles.
I'm trying not to worry about mc given it's never been much bleeding and with no pain other than ligament stretching, but now I've got a scan date - May 5th, I'm kind of panicking about what if the news is bad, especially as we'll have to bring DS along so DH can come and see the bean too. I'm also worried about what the bleeding means assuming it isn't a mc and why its leaking out at all - I worry that I may have an incompetant cervix after those hours of pointless, and potentially damaging pushing with DS, I worry that it's an infection, I worry that the placenta is really low lying.... in other words I've entered a whole new level of neurosis. Sigh. I'll be glad of some interaction with the NHS - I have my booking appointment on Friday, when hopefully some of my fears can be laid to rest.
Hope everyone's spotting stops now please!!

Staceroo · 17/04/2011 10:49

We're not a very happy bunch on here the last couple of days! :(

Sorry for those with sad news losing friends and family.

However... the sun is shining, and we're all doing our part in bringing new life into this world, so lets cheers up and smile!

I'm still sat in my dressing gown, having just had my second breakfast! Grin Am thinking about getting dresses, but been up since 7:30 to watch gp, and now watching the marathon.

Hope everyone has a nice day, and start thinking happy thoughts!!!!

Poppet45 · 17/04/2011 13:07

Good point Staceroo. I've just come in from a lovely morning in the garden planting out lots of new flowers, picking DS up each time he falls on one of my new plants, cleaning his hands each time he's horrified to find some mud on them (what can I say he's a sensitive poppet!!) and ducking as the mud flies while he learns the fine art of digging. Somewhat tricky to plant out new specimens given he buggered off with my proper trowel and left me with his plastic beach spade. But lots of fun, nice gentle eercise in the sun, and I'm very conscious that the garden won't be getting half as much attention later on this year, let alone in summer 2012 so am loving doing it now!!

lktoday5 · 17/04/2011 14:09

hello lovely ladies, well i thought i'd add some lovely news, ive had a fab weekend with friends (DP is STILL away) but yesterday i picked up my engagement ring and DP said i could announce it on fb so ive been inundated with lovely, lovely congratulations messages - another 2 weeks and im hoping there will be another set :-)

wishing you all happy, sunshiney sundays x

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 17/04/2011 16:59

Congrats lk, exciting news :)

I've had a lovely weekend mostly, out yesterday and then busy pottering in the garden this morning, plus dinner is on in the slow cooker so dont have to worry about doing much this afternoon - although have been busy with ironing, but less than usual :)

goldmaple · 17/04/2011 17:55

staceroo I had a second breakfast as well:)

poppet love hearing about DS helping you garden!! That is what all this worry and ms is for - want a little bean like that!!

lk Congrats! Have you picked a date yet?

Have stopped worrying about the cramps (and they seem to have stopped - go figure)! Going to enjoy the day as tomorrow we open our new business!! wish us luck!

Hope everyone has a great week!!

busyboysmum · 17/04/2011 18:11

Hi guys

Beautiful day here too - I have spent the morning at our local massive car boot sale where I managed to pick up a Mothercare Winnie the Pooh cot bumper, duvet, curtains and lightshade in perfect condition for £6 so I am a happy bunny. We have decided to decorate the nursery WtP as ds2 is massively into it at the moment and it is unisex.

Spent the afternoon by the Lake at Tatton Park with all my family - my brother has a VW Campervan so he made sausages and bacon and cups of tea all afternoon for us and we sat in the sunshine and chatted and the kids played and it was just lovely.

We are back to school tomorrow after 2 brilliant weeks off so am going to have to think about packed lunches and PE Kits and school uniforms very shortly. No idea how we are going to get ourselves out of bed tomorrow morning as we have all got very lazy this holiday!

Hope everyone has a stressfree week with good news all round for those having scans

Smile
chipmonkey · 17/04/2011 18:32

Congratulations, lk!Grin

I am from now on going to refer to Staceroo and goldmaple as "The Hobbits" what with their second breakfasts!Grin

Poppet45 · 17/04/2011 19:26

Loving 'the Hobbits' Grin and so glad to hear everyone's had good days. The weather here's been just lovely. Goldmaple I just remembered something from one of the volumes of pregnancy books I read last time, have you been ever so slightly dehydrated at all? Because that can be a non scary cause of cramps...
And congratulations Ik!!

BuffyFan · 17/04/2011 20:57

Wow! I go away for the weekend and come back three pages later... I've missed a lot of news, both good and bad.

Goldmaple you're not alone on the cramps. I've had mainly AF type cramps but also random twitches, twinges and twangs. No bleeding though, so I'm praying it's just everything moving around. I am permanently thirsty though, so thanks Poppet45 for the point about dehydration!

Spent the weekend with my parents (no DH) - was lovely but also nice to be home again now. Time with DH seems to be really important at the moment.

Told my brother the news yesterday and he berated me for waiting so long to tell him. He has two DCs of his own but is still desperate to be an uncle... My mum had visited a friend and her new DD, and was very impressed with the iCandy buggy they had.

I've had another day of wanting to eat everything in sight. I'm hardly slim to begin with so I'm really going to have to watch the calorie intake so I don't go overboard...!

knockedupagain · 17/04/2011 21:05

Hello everyone! Nothing much going on with me at the moment, but thought I'd check in.

ImBrian So long as you're happy with your boobs, then they're the right ones for you! How dull if we all wanted the same!

Alicat Sorry about your friend Sad
Gold Very best of luck with your new business. Hope it grows like the baby will!

And I hope that everyone who is having spotting or cramps stops having them soon.

I've booked myself a weekend in London staying with my best friend in June, once all the kids' exams are out of the way. I live in Edinburgh, so we get these things out of the way sooner than in England. I have 13 exams to coach the kids thru, so housework will be pared back to basics for the next few weeks. Clothes may well be worn crumpled, and dusting will not be happening! I must go and catch up on paperwork now. It's the only time I get, when the kids are at their dad's on a Sunday eve.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 17/04/2011 21:53

Ooh busyboysmum whereabouts are you? We love tatton Park (we're national trust members), although we prefer Dunham Massey cos the parking charges at Tatton can add up.

And the Easter hols seem to be all over the place. Here (N Wales), the schools broke up Friday and they go back after May bank hol. I've booked the 3 days between easter and may bank hol off so have 11 days off for 3 days hol! Plus DD will go to nursery for 3 of those days so I have time!!!!!

Booking in appt tomorrow, scan on Wed. Arrggghh the peeing into a container starts here. 9+4 here.

Oh and whoever asked about the bumpband, I loved it and will use it again. Kept me in my jeans till about 6 months,

bumpandisaacsmum · 17/04/2011 22:11

Well, following a sad Friday we have had a really good weekend here :)

Saturday was DS birthday party, was great watching him with his friends having a great time... all the kids were well behaved and no tears... was absolutely shattered following the party though so home and a dvd it was!!

Also had some great news on Saturday - I have got onto a post-experience Midwifery course starting in September (huge numbers applied, 15 were interviewed for 6 places!!!) Only problem is now having to let them know re: pg and sorting out logistics.... am hoping it will not be too difficult but you never know Confused

Then today we met friends at the local nature reserve and wore out both the children and the dogs whilst we had coffee & a chat :) Was great to be out in the sun enjoying the local nature.

Nothing really to say here re: pg, all still going well here. I feel massive though am still fitting in my tighter trousers so can't be too big :o MS has also waned a little which meant I was able to enjoy a lovely roast dinner tonight and have room for pud (probably doesn't help with feeling big though).

lk Congratulations... hope planning and prep for the biog day go well :o

Alicat sorry to hear about your friend, no matter how expected it is, it is never easy to deal with especially when they were fighting til the end... my thoughts are with you x x

folic & Caz hope that the bleeding has settled and it is nothing to worry about x x

busyboys I love car boots... you can get such bargains it is worth the effort of looking through, will be hitting some ourselves in the near future :)

gold good luck with the new business, hope it is a success x x

Caz another great article, Belle is very much a star, as are you for all of your efforts for Belle's angel day x x

Those with appts and scans (MrsA) good luck, hope all goes well x x

ImBrian · 17/04/2011 22:28

Thats a good bit of info about the dehydration, I'm really thirsty and have been crampy on and off so I wonder if its that. Also I know its way to much info but I seem to have a lot of cm this time! Blush cant remember being like this with the last 3 but it seems to be different day to day! Any one else?

Ive just broke up for Easter holidays for 2 weeks and my children have gone to their dads till Thursday so planning on doing as much house stuff as possible as well as a couple of lie ins Wink

goldmaple · 17/04/2011 23:19

poppet I have been really dehydrated (lips splitting) no matter how much I drink so that may be affecting the cramps. Trying to drink more but its hard

Good luck with the scans Mrs Arch so exciting to see the little bean!

imbrian I have been having loads of cm too, apparently if its clear or whitish and doesn't smell it is just the body's way of trying to keep infections away (since i had recurring bladder infections before it seems to be working)

Thanks for all the good luck wishes for the business!

Folicacid · 18/04/2011 07:59

Morning,

All okay here, although cannot believe it is monday.

Blush to second breakfasts, I have one every day, and then lunch about an hour after that! mind you, I don't eat a dinner very often.

I think the blood was connected to me doing a very hard poo- although blood defintely not from backside. So I'm swigging the lactulose.

15 days until my scan. Erm, well roughly...

Folicacid · 18/04/2011 08:06

Have any of you starting slathering on products to your bump to be and skin yet?

I started with bio oil, but it was too much like an oil slick before work, then palmer's cocoa butter, but I thought it smelt a little of tobacco, and now I'm on the sanctuary's mum to be body butter.

Skin like an alligator now so I'm slathering it on head to toe.
