Im brian meant to say I've been having loads of CM, sometimes knickers are soaking, sometimes creamy. Hasn't itched or been a funny colour though so haven't been worried.

MooseyMoo · 18/04/2011 08:55

Not much news from me. Count down to scan is on (10 days!).

Have been eyeing up the City Jogger double as DD will be 18months so think she will still need a pram. She's not crawling or walking yet (but I didn't crawl and started to walk at 13months).

Folic I used Sanctuary body butter. Loved it but I still got stretch marks ... at 31 weeks. Was so gutted thought I had missed them. I think it's genetic whether you get stretch marks or not. My mum didn't get any but I don't have the same skin type as her.

I have been feeling extremely tired the past 5 days. I wake up and then 30mins later I feel exhausted. Luckily DD still has morning and afternoon naps so I get to have a rest as well.

Good luck to all the scans this week and fingers cross all bleeding/cramps stop soon!

TerrysNo2 · 18/04/2011 08:56

Hello all, I have a day off today so its DS day - should probably put the laptop away then!! Smile

Hope this week is a good one for us all!!

Katiebeau · 18/04/2011 09:23

Hello Everyone. So much news to catch up on. Congratulation LK! FX and hoping it all nothing to worry about for those having spotting/bleeds.

Sorry if I missed anyones news. Nothing exciting here. Tummy sticking out already at 12 weeks. Little weight gain but tummy is out there! Just waiting for the results tonight from the combined NT/blood tests. Consultant though bobblehat was a little bit ahead crown to rump for my dates so I might have a new due date (currently 30/10 after the 8 weeks scan).

Anyone else suffering headaches? If I bend down playing with DD on the floor my head feels like it will explode. I have no clue what that is. My blood pressure is usually low and was good with DD. Meeting the "Birth Team" tomorrow hopefully (if NT results OK).

Glad people do well at Car Boots - I obviously don't know how to shop at them!!

Re I-Candy - I loved them but check the weight and the fold!

OH and loads of CM here too. Blush

Katiebeau I had headaches earlier in this pregnancy, and in other pregnacies too. I was told it's because of the body preparing and using extra blood flow needed for pregnancy.

For those who already have little ones, what things are you buying again or more of? I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a new baby carrier - I've had a Kozy Mei Tai used through 3 kids and it's looking pretty worn out at this point! Currently looking at the BabyHawk as I like the extra head support section (mostly because I'm tired of dealing with strangers complaints of lack of head support as it's hard to see in the Kozy). Also, looking for new baby sleeping bags and swaddlers because I always seem to need more and they get pretty well abused. And maybe a new nursing pillow. And hats, because my husband got told off last time after the birth by a midwife for not having a hat at hand (even though she was born during a heatwave in August...). And that's actually pretty much it.

smilingcl · 18/04/2011 11:23

Hello Ladies,

Just a quick check in, had my 12 week scan this morning, turns out I'm 11+4 today! Baby's got arms and legs and a giant head (like it's mother). It was swimming about loads to begin with. It was a huge relief to see it, was funny, the image appeared as soon as she put the scanner on my stomach, I was beginning to convince myself there was nothing in there but baby appeared immediately - Hurrah! Have just had an excited conversation with my sister, she's started to prepare all the hand me over equipment and clothes :)

EXCITING. It measures 4.8cm and my due date is now 3rd November.

Good luck to everyone who's got scans coming up, I hope they go well!

X

chipmonkey · 18/04/2011 11:33

Don't think I will be getting anything new for this baby. Maybe some newborn clothes as I prefer a newbie to go into new clothes for the first few days.

Am looking at the Tots Bots Papoozle Sling as it looks a bit easier to manage than the Hug-a-Bub I had for ds4 which to me was a glorified scarf!

I did see a lady walking round with a newborn in a car-seat which you could wheel along like a wheelie suitcase, rather than having to attach it to a chassis but tbh, I don't know if I can justify it when I have a perfectly good carseat which he will grow out of in minutes. . Did look very handy though!

Katiebeau · 18/04/2011 11:48

Chip - Jojomamanbebe sell a car seat "trolley" which I assume takes your car seat. Tempting I admit - those things weigh a tonne.

OP posts:
chipmonkey · 18/04/2011 11:51

Excellent, Katie! Will have a look at that!

Katiebeau · 18/04/2011 11:53

Re new for next baby - new matress (yawn) and a new crib (borrowed a moses basket last time). Other than that we don't know about a double buggy. I panic at the thought of a 2 1/2 year old on a buggy board when taking the train and what happens if she needs to crash??

New clothes for when baby 1st arrives too. We will ask for the sex so I know if it's worth sorting all of DDs clothes for new baby or for the charity shop!

My dream genie pillow has gone missing which I loved. No clue what happened to it. I'll get another one (for me, not really bubba).

Such a short list this time!!

OP posts:
bumpandisaacsmum · 18/04/2011 12:08

We borrowed a lot of stuff for DS so need to buy quite a few things but my sister will be handing down a lot of stuff (her DS will be 14months when I'm due)

So on our definite list is:

  • cot & mattress
  • pushchair (already bought)
  • v-pillow (DS's was abused beyond it after 3yrs)
  • new clothes (some hand downs)

Possibly need moses basket but hoping to borrow one again!
Am sure I've probably fogotten something but as long as we have the essentials we'll get more once baby here!

smiling glad your scan went well

chipmonkey · 18/04/2011 12:08

I am not asking the sex this time. Probably would be more sensible given that I could throw out a whole lot of stuff if it was a girl but it probably isn't!Grin

bumpandisaacsmum · 18/04/2011 12:12

katie my S-i-L got round double buggy by having a sling in the bag which meant if DS really needed to crash then DD could go in sling & DS in pushchair!! Think she used sling in this way a handful of times as DS loved being big bro & walking or "pushing" whilst on board!!

toffeepud · 18/04/2011 12:32

OMG will I ever stop peeing???

I haven't told work colleagues yet - waiting for my 12 scan (05 May) but think they suspect as I may as well just set my pc up in the loo - I may actually have a chance at getting some work done then!!

Poppet45 · 18/04/2011 13:15

Hi all!

In a brief rundown, nope I've not started applying goo. Last time I used Palmer's stuff at the start til I realised they contained loads of parabens - such a bad idea in a product aimed at pregnant women!! Then I used bio oil which I loved. And I got so smug because I didn't have a single mark. Until 38 weeks when my entire tum just sort of splintered. Its ended up looking like crepe paper 20 months on from DS's birth. At least it means I'll never work out again to get a flat belly as I won't be showing it off ever again. So I'm not sure if I'll bother this time, it's not like I'm trying to spare perfection from any harm Grin
In other goo news. Yes to more cm. Mine still sometimes contains brown bits, sometimes yellowy/orange/pale pink. I have no idea whats going on but it doesn't smell or itch so I'll just ask the mw on Friday.
As to buying stuff for a second LO. I definitely want a new buggy as we've run ours into the ground and I hates it, hates it! Other than that I was thinking maybe a carrycot for the new buggy to use instead of this hideous frilly moses basket monstrosity we borrowed from SIL last time. The rustle of the sodding wicker was enough to wake up DS every time we used it!! Plus it would be nice to bring DC straight in from the buggy without waking. Finally I want to find out the scan to see if we need to buy some pink/red hats and cardies to go with all DS's old blue babygrows.
Oh we have the Papoozle btw. I found it really, really comfy and I'm awful with those wrap slings, so much easier to use to.

Poppet45 · 18/04/2011 13:17

Oh Toffee we have the same scan day. Good luck!!

Staceroo · 18/04/2011 13:42

Congratulations on your engagement IK!

And to you smiling on your scan! I got my appointment letter through today! Postman arrived just after I'd called the ultrasound dept to chase it! 12 week scan booked for 3rd May, by which point I should be 12+3! So fingers crossed will be able to see my little baby!

We had a scan at 8+4 but could only just make out the little buds where legs were due to grow and a big head! lol! Good luch for scan Mrs A, let us know how you get on!

Gold + Folic I am having 2nd breakfast everyday!! Thanks for the nickname Chipminkey!

I've been putting cocoa butter on my boobs and belly every night! Poppet I've never heard of Parabens? Is this cream not good for you?? Got me worried now!

Oh and cm here to... though I don't know what cm stands for, I gather what it is your talking about, and never crossed my mind that it'd be anything to worry about!

First of my days off today! So glad we booked this week off, going to be glorious weather! DHs birthday tomorrow, so did some last miniute shopping this morning. Planning to take him for a picnic on the beach tomorrow! Can't wait! I've bought him one of those Haynes manuals for a baby for his birthday! (Amongst other things of course!)

Busyboys love the idea of WtP! We're going for peter rabbit! Haven't bought anything yet, but about 5 years ago my mum bought me a Peter Rabbit latch hook rug, which I started and never finished! So finishing it off now, about 2/3rds of the way through, thought it would make a good theme! And again, can be unisex, as if we have a girl we'll go for more of the other characters rather than all Peter Rabbit, such as Jemima puddleduck!

Wow I've talked a lot now! I'll leave it there!

Have a nice day all!

rightontime · 18/04/2011 14:10

Wow lots of questions.

I plan to buy as little as possible for next Bubba. I think I may need some new bits and pieces as my old clothes etc have done lots of babies. I am not buying a new mattress. Blush I really don't see the point. DS2's mattress was used less than 2 years and is in immaculate condition. I know what they say about the risks but I am not so worried. I'm sure it will be fine.

I did start using bio oil but lost the enthusiasm early on. Not really important as I already have plenty of stretch marks. I got them with DS1 when I went overdue. There was none up till my due date. I got more early on with DS2 as I put on far too much weight with that pregnancy.

CM. That was how I knew I was pregnant with DS1. There was tons of it! None with DS2 and just a little this time round. Some days I get lots and some days none.

toffeepud · 18/04/2011 14:30

Ohh congratulations Poppet45!! Good luck to you too - can't wait!! x

cep · 18/04/2011 16:17

afternoon all.

alicat so sorry about your friend, we had the same news about a work friend on thursday, so very sad.

lk congratulations

I hope those that have had a bit of blood over weekend are all ok.

toffee and poppet my 12 week will be on the 5th as well although i'll be 13+5 so they're only just fitting me into the 12-14 wk bracket and i have my scan tomorrow to check all ok after bleed the other week. I'm a bit worried about tomorrow as a) i'm on my own so sod's law says..... and b) i was at 11+3 last time when i got the bad news and i'll be 11+3 tomorrow...... i'm sure it'll be fine.

Folicacid · 18/04/2011 16:19

Congrats smiling so lovely to hear...I bet you really are smiling today!

MooseyMoo · 18/04/2011 19:29

Oh good grief - my eyes, my eyes! Channel jumping and just seen 'Jump in my car' by Hasselhoff. Not good!

Has anybody heard from Wuzz? Hope you're ok.

Katie Sounds like your sinuses are playing up. Feels like lots of pressure when you bend forward, but stops when you lift your head up? The best solution is to steam.

cep I hope the scan goes well tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you - what time is it?

knockedupagain · 18/04/2011 20:29

IK I forgot to say earlier... congratulations!
cep All the best for tomorrow. I'm sure it will be fine, and once you're safely past that date you'll relax a bit more. When I was arranging for my 12 week scan, I was trying to decide between 28th April and the next available one on 5th May due to the holidays, the midwife warned that that if I was even a day past 14 weeks, they would refuse to do the nuchal, so if there was any doubt over dates, to have it done earlier rather than later. See how you get dated tomorrow, as you are cutting it fine - no saying that they apply the same rigid cut off where you are, but certainly worth asking about tomorrow!

In terms of buying, I have everything to get! My next youngest will be 13 by the time this next one arrives, and all I have is the sleepsuit they all made the journey home from hospital in, a tiny swimsuit for a girl, and a little summer dress which was lovely when bought 20 years ago, but in any case no use for a November babe... unless I move to AustraliaGrin!

cep · 18/04/2011 20:29

thanks moosey it's at 10:50. I hate the fact i get so scared before a scan now.

busyboysmum · 18/04/2011 20:37

Mrs A where in N Wales are you? We love Llangollen if you are anywhere near there? Going there caravanning next weekend for hubby's birthday and can't wait. We are Sale, Greater Manchester and also NT members, we love Dunham as well but Tatton is better for picnics as you can drive the campervan right up to the Lake and at Dunham you have to sit in the carpark.

Haven't ever bothered with creams for stretchmarks and haven't got a single one - it must be down to your skin I think. There was a thread on here somewhere suggesting that the older mums are less likely than younger ones to get them - I had my first at 32 so might be something in that? What is everyone else's experience?

We are trying not to buy anything for this baby although we are having to convert our loft conversion into a proper room to make another bedroom to fit us all in the house. Hubby has started today and is making cracking progress - the stud walls are up already and he is hammering in plasterboard like there's no tomorrow!

My friend gave me a M&P cotbed, I got my old pram out of the loft and washed it all and it looks like new - it's a Jane Carrera with Matrix carseat which I love as baby can lie flat so you can use it as a moses basket. My last baby slept in it until he was ready for the cot at 8 weeks. We have been given loads of stuff off freecycle and friends and I am scouring the car boot sales looking for gorgeous little new things that I can't say no to at 50p!!

Hope all those with scans have lovely times and those without keep well

Smile
