smilingcl Recipes can be arranged :D pm me and I'll nudge you in a direction. Also, your Danish is better than my DP's Danish - he knows a few Swedish words but that's it. (I'm pan-european...)

MrsRidcully - so jealous! I barely got to see Sprout as the sonographer was grumpy and didn't even let us choose the picture!

Girls Can i just pick your brains? I've had these cramps, about every 1-5 minutes, lasting 5-6 seconds since Friday morning. We went straight to A&E, had bloods and internal done - no bleeding, bloods all clear, tight womb, but that's about it. Doctor sent me home with Co-codamol for the pain, but I'm not convinced as it hasn't gone away - it keeps going :(
Anyone else experience this? It's really scaring me - and no crappy Eurovision songs can make me not worry!

(Denmark are sooooo winning!)

busyboysmum · 14/05/2011 20:49

I haven't had chance to read all the posts but I had a really bad day of pain in my abdomen - like a stitch that got worse with walking and going upstairs last Sunday. I spent the evening googling SPD and got myself all worried at some of the stories, ordered a band from a recommended physio site, told hubby I would probably be in a wheelchair by the end of the pregnancy (!) then I haven't had a problem since (so far thank goodness)

With regard to feelings about the sex, we have two sons so far and I felt exactly the same in each pregnancy. I feel pretty much the same in this one as well so I am thinking another boy which will be fine as we have all the stuff and we know how to do boys! I keep getting lots of people assuming I want a girl this time which I honestly do not (just want a healthy baby) but they don't believe me.

We are thinking Lucy Catherine for a girl and George David for a boy (David after my brother, Catherine after my nana). We do traditional names - we have a Daniel and a Robert so far, each of whom have one grandpa's names as a middle name.

Apart from the one day of pain all has been going well here, I have my energy back so the house is looking a lot better. Smile

Poppet45 · 14/05/2011 21:12

Busyboysmum: I so hear you on having all the stuff for a boy and 'knowing' what to do with one! A girl will be quite a shock. Both really nice names btw.

Poppet45 · 14/05/2011 21:15

Sorry to ignore your post Caliph: but are you drinking enough? Dehydration can cause cramps. Hope it stops soon sounds very stressful.

Caliphora · 14/05/2011 21:29

I read that - I'm downing the normal 1.5ltrs, but I have been walking alot the last week. I also found out this after some Interweb research on everything I'd put into my body on Thursday:
7 out of 13 of the herbs in Ricola cough sweets are directly associated with contractions and miscarriage. I had half a packet on Thursday. That may explain it - and I'm not happy, as it says -nothing- on the packet about not being suitable for pregnant or breast feeding ladies. If I had known that they contained f.ex. Lady's Mantle (which I used to take to get my periods going - they cause contractions in the womb) I would -never- have taken them!

cookie9 · 15/05/2011 07:22

Hi cali hora I have had cramps too but was told it is just the muscles stretching to make room for the baby but sometimes can be a sign of urinary infection so if in doubt get your doc to give you a quick check. Mine was very nice about it.

voodoomunkee · 15/05/2011 08:03

Crikey Cali, bad that there was no warning! Hope you are feeling a bit better?

Have been up watching clips of one born every minute online. Hmm. I think I may avoid them for a while, somehow when not pg but having gone through it I was fine, now knowing I have to do that in a few months is a little scary! I shall physically restrain OH from watching them, although I doubt they would be his choice of viewing for a night time!

My friend swears by some chinese calender thing to tell you the sex, I am more sceptical seeing as I got boy, girl, boy, girl when I tried it! Was funny though.

MissyNorfolk · 15/05/2011 09:22

morning I hope everyone is feeling ok, am at my dads relaxing and sleeping for a change which is always good :)

Folicacid · 15/05/2011 10:05

Cali how are you this morning, still cramping? What did A and E say? a phonecall to midwife tomorrow could be a good idea?
Sorry i don't have any insights.

Busyboys lovely names! Very traditional. I'd like to honour relatives in middle names, but just wish they had nicer names Confused

Although I don't have a proper sense of what I'm having, when pushed I say boy, OH says girl. I think I say boy though as I'm more aprehensive about raising a boy as they are so 'other' from me, coming from a family of all women. So my saying boy is getting me used to the idea. It is working though as I'm imagining a boy more and more I'm getting less freaked out about it! I really have no idea though, I did a wee thing on another website, baby centre maybe, and it said girl.

Up and at 'em today after completely lazy day yesterday. Raining though boo.

Caliphora · 15/05/2011 10:43

Hey all - slept through the night and no cramps first thing this morning.
My MW said that they don't send anyone out to see you at 15+5 and to go to A&E if it got worse (oh how helpful...)
Nobody has actually told me what it could be or re-assured me - at the hospital they said bloods were fine and cervix was fine - but nothing else.
I was hoping they'd do a scan to rule out placental abruption, but they seemed to be sure it wasn't that.
So, wait and see game now - if it continues today I'll call the MW again and get demanding.

Staceroo · 15/05/2011 10:44

Hi All,

Poppys mum sorry for getting confused... I was of course talking to you!

MissyR Sorry was a few pages ago you mentioned this, but I think it's lovely for you to go and tell your Dad. We lost my little brother last Feb, and he was the first person we told. Wen't to visit him the week we found out and told him he was going to be an uncle. It is really really hard knowing that our little boy or girl will not get to meet their Uncle, as he really was one of the greatest guys in the world, and is a fantastic uncle to our Niece and Nephew.

Me and HD had been convinced we'd have a couple of boys ever since we started entertaining the idea of kids, and that hasn't changed now, absolutely convinced it's a boy, even think it looked like aboy in the scan! But... I am now starting to think... hmm... we should be prepared for a girl just in case! So we're definately going to find out the flavour!

Staceroo · 15/05/2011 10:45

sorry cali, x post. Hope all is fine today! Keep us posted xx

PamSco · 15/05/2011 10:53

Hi All, having a nice trip south here. Poppet I saw Nadine's website but couldn't make the times for yoga. I'm hoping I can rejig things so I can go.

Something I meant to say on previous post, yoga is recognised by law as one of the reasons to have paid time off work. I've enquired about an evening nct so I may do a day time yoga next?

New symptom yesterday and this morning, food madness. Didn't eat for ages yesterday so tried to buy a soup from a chain sandwich shop. The man took ages and kept farting about talking to other people. I felt like lurching over the counter and shaking him screaming you are starving my baby! This morning the hotel made me wait 30 minutes for toast, ARE THEY MAD? The damage I could do! I probably need to calm down and carry snacks!

Folicacid · 15/05/2011 11:03

PamSco isn't time off for relaxation classes only if recommended by your doctor? Although, I wonder how strict employers are about that...

BuffyFan · 15/05/2011 11:21

My employer's been lovely and basically told me not to worry - they have to say "please make appointments at beginning or end of the day" but then told me they know that's impossible. And the rules about sickness absence kind of go out the window, which is nice. I don't know if everywhere's like this but maybe yoga at sensible times would probably be accepted?

I'm convinced we're having a boy, but then I can only think of girls names - so who knows what that means?! We're definitely going to find out if we can, though.

And Azerbaijan?? Really??? Shock

Missyraines · 15/05/2011 11:47

Staceroo it's so sad when we loose people we love. Seems unfair especially when we have this kind of news to share. I bet he'd have been a proud and fun uncle I'm sure. Life sucks sometimes. I plan to talk about juniors grandad so they will know all about him. I never knew my Dad's parents either but he always told us about them. I'm in tears just thinking about it all.

We're telling my Mum today over Sunday lunch so cue more tears.

What did everyone think of Eurovision. I loved the Moldova one. They all wore giant gnome hats and had a womon on a unicycle. What could possibly top that?

chipmonkey · 15/05/2011 12:33

Sorry for Jedward that they didn't do better, even though I know they can't sing, I am very fond of them.

Have not puked this morning so far or yesterday. Two non-puking days in a row is a big deal for me!Grin

Hils74 · 15/05/2011 13:19

Wow it's so interesting that most of you are convinced of what you are having. I have no idea as it's my first, friends & fam in RL keep saying I'm having a girl so trying to convice myself I am! All my family are girls, OH are boys so can't really call it!

We've got to toss a coin at the 20 wk scan as I want to find out and OH doesn't... :)

Can I ask some advice pls? I'm now 14+2 and coming to the end of my current load of folic acid tabs, is it ok to stop taking them or do I need to carry on for a while?

bumpandisaacsmum · 15/05/2011 15:48

Thank-you all for the support x x

cal hope the cramps have improved,

hills the main reason for folic acid is to reduce the risk of spinal abnormality and is most important up until 12weeks. If you are managing a good balanced diet then there is no reason you have to continue, due to on-going ms I am still taking pregnacare but more for the vits & mins rather than folic acid specifically!!

I wouldn't say I "knew" with DS but was more inclined to boys clothes & boys names came more easily (was all girly beforehand!!). This pg is completely different & am more inclined back to girly bits, girls name came easy but have also a good boys name. I feel that it ccould be a girl but not getting excited either way until we find out on the birth-day!!!

Caliphora · 15/05/2011 18:13

Cramps are all gone today - so far! Feeling great actually, little Sprout has been wriggling about!

I'm 99% sure it's a boy - don't know why at all, just a gut instinct (no pun intended...)

cep · 15/05/2011 18:38

afternoon ladies, hope you're all ok. i haven't got a clue what baby's going to be, probably a boy, i don't think dh is man enough to make a girl. (that'll come back to bite me if it is a girl Grin ) Although we can't agree on any boys name, for girls we like Robyn or Mia, middle name Annie after my gran. Need to be careful though as my surname begins with P so it'll be MAP or RAP. Grin but better than SAP.

had a trip to a+e today as ds swallowed a 5p coin cue xray to make sure was in stomach now just waiting for it to come out. Envy (that's nausea not envy)

juststarting · 15/05/2011 19:02

Room for another one? Though I'm due right at the end of November, so was unsure whether to join here or December - December I wouldnt have to hear all your birth stories and scare myself rigid right before I give birth!
Sorry, didnt see Eurovision, no idea what sex this one will be (one boy, 18 months already - we ALL, like everyone in the whole world, thought he would be a boy - and the sonographer told us early at the 13 week scan), but nausea getting me down and desperately hoping its going to ease soon.
Hope this 5p swallowing child is ok!
And I stopped taking folic acid with any regularity after my 13 week scan with my first, because the neural tube is formed by that point.

cep · 15/05/2011 19:14

juststarting welcome and congratulations. I'm actually not too worried about the birth last one was ok, but i think once i start getting the pains i'll probably start worrying Grin

ds is fine thankyou, wasn't effected at all, he does know not to put things in his mouth but he does like to wind his mother up.

cep · 15/05/2011 19:16

oh and i forgot to say i had my results letter yesterday risk went from 1 in 592 to 1 in 11835, so pretty chuffed with that, just waiting for 20 week scan and once have the all ok with that i can finally relax a bit.

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 15/05/2011 19:27

Good afternoon all,

cep glad to hear your good results, hills I'm still taking my supplement at 15 weeks cos I think it's best to make sure I'm getting everything I should and because my diet leaves a lot to the be desired!! juststarting, welcome :)

Been doing too much this weekend and my bump is a little achy, not cramps or anything like that, more trapped wind and stretching, definitely got a bump now, although still getting bloated so way bigger in the evening than the morning, goodness me, the farting I manage at the moment is astounding Blush, sorry if TMI!!!

Have a gyne scan tomorrow for a non baby related issue, but hoping that the sonographer will let us have another look at baby and even get another couple of photos, that's DH's mission to persuade them. Am a bit excited about the idea to have another look, it's such a long time to wait, everyone told me the time flies by and I feel like it's really dragging.

Hope you all have a good evening.
