Gosh lots going on here!! I haven't posted in a while as I started maternity leave last week and have been battling to get broadband up and running so I've been internet-less for a week now.

Goldenoldie - I tried to ring you back but for some reason couldn't get through to your phone. How are the twins coming along? Are you still able to get about? Anyway hope you're well and let's try and get together for coffee or something sometime soon - probably after babies!!

I'm feeling well but really ready to meet this baby. I've got another growth scan next Tuesday to see if he/she is really monster-sized. Have my tens machine arriving on Friday and new carpets being put in next week so I'm hoping that if I am further along than the chart says that 'Chip' won't decide to arrive earlier than Wednesday next week!

I'm beginning to be a bit paranoid about every little ache and pain convinced that I'm just about to go into labour, but I'll probably go over the due date and end up having a 12 lb December baby!!

I hope everyone is well and congrats to all the new mums!!! I can't wait to join the post-natal thread.

J xx (36+5)

smellymelly · 02/11/2005 12:58

Hi Chacha - remember me?? How you doin?

GOOD LUCK to you and all the others on this thread. This is the month!

I can't believe my twins will be 1 next month!

karmamother · 02/11/2005 13:05

KristinaM, got everything crossed for you & the ECV, I suspect transverse is easier for you to feel than breech.

LilJ, I feel like you, convinced I'll give birth to a hefty baby, well into December. Can I ask why you're having a growth scan? I was hoping to get one as I have gestational diabetes but my consultant didn't see the need.

JenJam · 02/11/2005 13:14

lilj long time no speak! golden is on hosp now until c-section on 10th - she prob has phone switched off due to hosp regs - I tried it and got ansaphone too. glad to hear you are well!

bear - hehe yes mouth muscles gone slack. what a pretty picture we paint; slack vag, slack jaw'd. i read somewhere that you do produce more saliva in pregnancy (bet you everyone is swallowing now - i did as I typed it - pavlovian response...)

kristina - so is transverse a good position to be in (looks very uncomfy to me), or is it just an improvement on breech...what do they do with ECV do they actually turn the whole bump with their hands??? sounds victorian, can't you just shine a torch up your front passage or leave a little trail of white chocolate buttons instead? good luck!?

twinkle1 · 02/11/2005 13:14

yes builders are finally here not the most friendly bunch though,i had to climb over there stuff to get in the front door!!!!! Thats them not getting a cup of tea
I have sorted my hospital bags just need to pick up some snacks and drinks to take in with me
The house is a mess but what can u do when you have kids that can untidy faster then u can tidy!!!
I feel strange at the min, just like im sat here willing time away till the section comes.Bet the night before section i will be having a OMG its here moment.
I bought a its a boy/girl banner for the front of the house while i was at tesco as this morning two people called to see what i had had!!
I feel kind of strange and a little sad knowing that this will be my last pregnancy,is anyone else feeling like this????

guess transverse is not good then - just noticed your double sad face - sorry.....

twinkle1 · 02/11/2005 13:24

jen jam
transverse equals automatic c/section as it is undeliverable

ChaCha · 02/11/2005 13:26

Smellymelly - Great to hear from you. How are you babies? Any pics we can peep at? Where do I find you on MN? Thanks x

You guys are talking dribble right? I wake up en route to the loo to find lovely wet patches over my pillow - it's gross! Pillow cases are getting changed and washed daily at the moment. Wonder why that it is? Any ideas?

Thank you all for the advice. Think it must just have been excess d/c of some sort. At that stage of every little niggle/pain/colour/feeling being the onset of labour...reminds of the first trimester milestones where I was posting on the pregnancy thread like there was no tomorrow

Oh and thanks for making me feel normal about trying to get appt scenario. It happened again today, they've cocked it all up. Giving me a scan on Monday and the consultancy in two weeks time when they are meant to be on the same day! Am leaving it to my m/w to sort out, will tell her the story tomorrow and ask her to call them and arrange.

Kristina - Are you going to wait and see what happens with bubs position or try ECV? How are you feeling anyway?

Really sorry if i forget anyone, I take all your messages in and make comments to myself but seem to forget it all by the time I come to type.

Am hoping Bob is okay.

Karma - meant to type you a msg but can't remember what the heck it is now will surely come back to me....like in the middle of Tescos or something..duh!

LilJ · 02/11/2005 13:31

Karma - I had a growth scan at 34 weeks as my placenta was lying low at the 20 week scan. The placenta has thankfully moved up, but the scan indicated the baby was already 2.84 kilos (6 1/4 lbs) and off the chart. So the consultant requested another scan to check on the size to see if they will have to induce early. They also took blood to check for GD which does make the baby grow bigger but as I haven't heard back I presume my blood sugar is fine.

Of course the midwife pooh poohs the whole thing and tells me all is fine and to ignore scans as they're never accurate, but the consultant seemed to be slightly more concerned about possible monster-baby!

Jenjam - hope you're holding up OK - not long now for you now right? We should definitely have a post-natal London meet up once we've all popped.

J xx

smellymelly · 02/11/2005 13:55

Hi Chacha - I have been really quiet on Mumsnet for a few months now. Very busy with twins, ebay (!) and moving to France!

I can't believe so much time has gone by...

With regards to photos, I like to stay kinda anonymous, but if I change my mind I will let you know. Maybe I could cat you one?

grannygoose · 02/11/2005 15:35

Hello ladies. Just caught up on all your postings today. I have also been well stocked with panty liners for weeks and weeks now. Cha CHa - Sounds completely normal to me.

Dangirl - congrats to you. I also had a missed miscarriage and it all went pear shaped the night before my booking appointment. It took a long time for me to get over this, so expect to have mixed feelings from time to time through this pregnancy - ie sheer terror to complete elation.

I wonder if elclose had to be induced this morning?

I am pleased to report that I have had a show and have been having pains on and off since midnight last night.

I have been lying in bed all day trying to sleep, but now that I am up and about, they seem to be coming more regularly, although they dont last very long. Not so bad that I feel that I have to hook up the Tens machine yet anyway.

Still dodging the telephone calls - DP told a baldfaced lie to MIL this morning when she called for her daily check in. Simply told her that he was fed up with work, had nothing to do and so was staying home from now on.... heh heh

Will try to keep you all posted, but if this is the real thing, then I might be somewhat preoccupied.

KristinaM · 02/11/2005 15:58

Good luck grannygoose. Lets hope this is it......

twinkle1 · 02/11/2005 16:05

twinkle - how are you now? I thought movements slowed down in earlylabour? Do you really think you are starting? Are you going for a trial of labour or def a CS?

tell u what this is bloody uncomfy!!!!
twinkle

beartime · 02/11/2005 17:03

JenJam you made me laugh with your white chocolate buttons!

Laughing more with your DP story Grannygoose! When people say when are you due I just say 'some time in the next 3 weeks', to leave them guessing - cos that's the real truth anyway. It sounds exciting - your pains etc. I s'pose it's the only time in your life when you enjoy being in pain (at least to a certain extent anyway!) please give regular updates so I know what to expect!

Twinkle, what's the planned c-section for?

twinkle1 · 02/11/2005 17:09

its the 3rd c/section!!!
1st emergency
2nd breech baby
3rd was breech

beartime · 02/11/2005 17:09

I've had shooting pains too, esp. when walking. MW said it was probably baby getting into position.

beartime · 02/11/2005 17:10

ouch - really? Is there a limit to how many c-sections you can have? How far along do they deliver you if its breech?

twinkle1 · 02/11/2005 17:14

no limit just depends how your body holds up.They dont normaly do planned c/sections before 38 weeks that is when mine is booked for next fri,but obviously if u start contracting or waters go they would do it earlier

KristinaM · 02/11/2005 17:50

Beartime - i think it used to be a problem ( having several sections) as they did a different type of incision. My SIL is like twinkle - just about to have her third. Her first was a vaginal delivery but she tore very badly so they advised Cs after that. She's has two since then and another scheduled for Christmas. And my bro is a dr so they woulndt be doing it if it wasnt safe IYWSIM. She si a great fan of CS and thinsk I am mad for trying to get thsi baby to turn.

Twinkle - do you mind me asking why you didnt go for ECV? Dod you think you woudl end up with a Cs anyway? my last baby was big and i had lots of stiches after a ventouse so i hope I dont regret going for a vaginal delivery again......

sarahsausage · 02/11/2005 17:54

Hiya ladies,

Has been a while since i last posted, although i have been tryng to keep up with the thread but its near impossible!

Congrats to Beksmum, laylasmum and londoner!

Had midwife appt today, tiny trace of protein in urine, blood pressure raised a little ( probably down to me running, yes running (with dd in her buggy) for the bus! So she said not to worry about it as am feeling fine. Also, measurements have been bang on for dates so far but today i only measured 35 (actually 36+1 today). But i have noticed that my bump has dropped in the last couple of days and midwife says that head is engaged, 3/5's still palpable. (was under the impression that for 2nd baby most do not engage until labour, does this mean it may be any time for me?!) That would explain the pressure i have been feeling "down there" when i stand, walk etc.

Quite surprised i haven't had to say congratulations to enthusia yet, we were all so certain she would have been 3rd to graduate!

Being around my niece is driving me nuts, she's just so tiny and cute and i want my baby NOW!! Shes 2 and a half weeks old and so adorable.

Off for some raspberry leaf tea!
