Evening all,
Glad our new mummies have started a post natal that we can refer to for advice, well done!
Is not the same without you ladies here - where is BoB, I keep asking where she is and has Enthusia posted today? Can't remember. Hello to all newbies.

Have had diarrhoea (sorry for TMI), followed by sickness and horrendous nosebleeds. Called NHS Direct but they've told me just to go back to delivery suite - am staying put as I'm feeling a bit better now and hoping it's just one of those third trimester things. Not very nice!

Just a rant if i may: M/W at delivery suite yesterday told me to call the ultrasound dept to find out when my scan was so i could have consultancy around same time. Called them only to be told they had no form with my details..told her GP had faxed it in front of me from his office yesterday...5 mins later she finds it but tells me that I'll have to wait for a letter. Tell her that I can't wait and have been told by m/w to call, it's urgent. She tells me that there are many women in my situation and that I have to be patient, WTH?? I've been asked to do that...Is that normal? Why do I always seem to have this problem with the receptionist at dentist and now at hospital??

Thanks, feel great for writing that down. LOL. Don't worry - I'm just going loopy .... It really bugged me though.

ChaCha · 01/11/2005 21:35

LOL I've just read back my post. Funny how certain things can affect you at certain times. Am changine my name to LoopyLoo xxxx

grannygoose · 01/11/2005 22:26

Bear - I am so with you on banning the phone calls. As if I wouldnt let them all know I had had a baby.

Also - total panic this morning at 5h30 as baby didnt move for ages and all the things I had read about the placenta losing its efficiency at 42 weeks etc were running through my head. My solution - drink a pint of cold water and wake up the poor sausage so that I could relax again...Nasty mummy.

Another reason why I will take the induction on Friday if I have too - I worry too much to go much longer without losing my sanity.

beartime · 01/11/2005 22:39

wow I didn't know that about the cold water! I'll have to try it and see

beartime · 01/11/2005 22:41

Hey I just read bloody show usually means onset of labour within 3 days, but a few people hold off for a week or two, so I'm getting hopeful

Enthusia · 02/11/2005 07:40

Morning all

Well things are pretty quiet here. Had diarrhoea and pretty bad pains for a while yesterday, but didn't amount to anything. Feeling pretty lively this morning, which is for the first time in ages.

Health visitor called yesterday and filled me in on her role etc, she was really nice and I am looking forward to the care they are going to provide, sounds really helpful!

Today going out for lunch with a friend, hopefully that will make day go a little faster and then some shopping and tidying etc.

ChaCha - I think there is a special breed of human that is specially reared for reception work. They look for genetic traits of - unhelpfulness - rudeness - scattiness - power tripping - superiority complexes - and general dislikeability. I always wonder how they react to other receptionists when it IS 'THEIR PROBLEM'. Hope it all gets sorted though and that you nose bleeds etc have stopped. Talk about having a rough time of it.

Welcome to all the October ladies, hopefully you won't need to get yourselves too comfortable here and you will be graduating to the postnatal site very soon. Think you are doing a great job, I know how frustrated I am at not dropping and it isn't even my due date yet (MW said I should drop early)let alone being overdue!!! Good luck.

Beartime - have given up looking for signs of labour. So far MW and Dr have said they reckon I have had 2 shows, 3 weeks apart, and still no baby!!!!! I am beginning to wonder whether it was something else now - don't know what - maybe I am turning into a jelly making machine down there! Either that or somehow it has all got connected up to my sinuses and it really is mucous (just not the plug bit)

Laylasmum - well done and welcome to little Seth, sounds like a lovely birth.

Right better go and do something I suppose. Speak later

Morning all,

Hope everyone is well and that the October ladies do not have much longer to wait. I haven't much input but at least if in the same boat at a later stage I'll have plenty of info to refer to.

Just looking at your 38+5 Enthusia, I'm just 36+5 and feel like I'm ready to pop already! Is it possible to get any bigger at this stage? And to think how paranoid I was about the size of my bump in the beginning...[roll eyes emoticon] Beksmum's 'weeble on stilts' description springs to mind! Have a relaxing lunch Enthusia and enjoy your day, I'm supposed to have a friend round but to be honest I am more inclined to laze in PJ's today (knackered after sickness etc.) and do not very much. I got my SMP yesterday at last What a relief!

Not sure if anyone else has a 'Wilkinsons' store in their area but mum found fitted cot sheets in there yesterday - 2 for 5.99 and throws in patchwork blue or pink for 3.99!! Bargain i'd say after looking at prices everywhere else.

Breakfast calls xx

rodeo1 · 02/11/2005 09:40

Morning all,

Tired this morning, Jess didn't settle til 2am last night from being awake since 9pm - I hope this isn't the shape of things to come! Anyway I should save that kind of info for the post-natal thread!

Enthusia - I'm sure you can't have long to go, I think you may be the next

Chacha - I was 36+5 when I had Jess! And don't worry about feeling down about impending birth/life changing bundle, completely normal and youll breeze through it! You've got all us on the other end of the cable to sound off to too

Well post was going to be longer but babe is hungry, join you later x x x

Oh I've got conjunctivitis

beartime · 02/11/2005 10:08

Enthusia - thanks for the encouragement! It's quite fun getting my hopes up every so often tho' as long as I don't get too disappointed when nothing happens

novadandypowder · 02/11/2005 10:21

morning ladies! hope everyone is well.

just thought i'd mention - take some pics of your bump now! i thought i had loads of time left, so now don't have any photos of bump after about 30wks.

rodeo - jess sounds like nat, we had bath, bottle, then tried bed, but it didn't happen. she ended up sleeping on my chest until her 2am feed. i'll gripe over on the post natal thread..

ChaCha · 02/11/2005 10:26

I'm wondering if any of you can help and maybe a bit TMI at what could be breakfast time, but anyway, here goes.
I've noticed quite a bit of yellow staining on my knickers and was wondering if that is just some normal d/c or amniotic fluid. I'm probably just paranoid, I'm sure I had this in the first trimester but just want to be sure. There doesn't seem to be any odour just very yellow 'staining' and quite a lot too. Any ideas as to what it could be? I see my m/w tomorrow.

beartime · 02/11/2005 10:32

Not that I'm the fount of knowledge, but I've had the same thing for a while - i've been wearing panty liners for the last month or two. i think it's just increased vaginal discharge.

karmamother · 02/11/2005 10:37

Hi all,

Feeling a bit rough this morning, after enjoying last night's meal I woke up with volcanic lava burning my throat! Gaviscon time. God I hate that stuff. Several doses later & much tossing & turning I got up at 4am. Managed to have a sleep after dp went to work & I've just crawled out of my pit. Does anyone else get really sick of feeling tired & demotivated? Moan over. (for now)

Enthusia, your description of receptionists was very accurate. They really are a different breed altogether. BTW When your MW said you'd drop early, did she explain why she thought that? Or was it just a hunch?

Chacha, you sound a lot brighter this morning. What a nightmare with the scan appointment. As if we don't have enough to worry about. Your BP must have been a tad high that day!

Rodeo1, sending big hugs & lets hope Jess settles better tonight. You wouldn't mind if it was a morning thing but why do they often have unsettled periods in the evening when you're at your lowest/tiredest??

Beartime, I never had a show with DS. Felt a bit disappointed, actually. Hoping to get one this time as it'd be nice to get a bit of warning.

Off to have my lovely healthy bowl of bran flakes, yum yum.

karmamother · 02/11/2005 10:43

Chacha, if you think it might be amniotic fluid, empty your bladder, dry yourself down below then stand over kitchen paper & bear down as if you're trying to wee. Sorry, I know it sounds awful. If there is any leak of amniotic fluid you'll see it on the paper. I'm sure it is normal vaginal discharge. It does seem a bit watery at this stage, doesn't it? HTH

twinkle1 · 02/11/2005 11:01

Grrrrrrrr
Still no builders!!!! i will try and stay calm. sounds like we are all getting fed up with waiting I am lacking energy today i need to go to tesco but i just cannot summon the energy
was'nt tex having a section yesterday?????? I wonder what she had???? and how she is. If anyone is after a nappy bin kiddicare.com has them in for only 12-15 quid a bargain, i have just ordered one.I found it useful last time as it saves taking nappies outside to the bin in freezing weather.
well i will go and try to make it to tesco

Just thought I would drop in here to say Hello and good luck on all the impending births!!

I don't know if any of you remember me but I was on the thread the first couple of months. Unfortunately I had a missed MC in week 12.
Good news is I am now pregnant again - although only in week 6. Hopefully things will turn out better this time!!

Lots og hugs and kisses from
Dangirl

Busyalexsmummy · 02/11/2005 11:24

Congratulations dangirl!!

Diege · 02/11/2005 11:29

Morning everyone
Sounds like we're all just hanging on in there! (A friend yesterday compared it to 'waiting o death row' - a little dramatic perhaps; she also has a feeling that I'll have to havean emergency caesarian - hmmm, maybe not the best friend to surround myself wit at the moment!).
ChaCha sympathise with receptionist situation. Had same situation when pregnant with dd1; needed a growth scan at 37 weeks and she was adamant that I couldn't have an appointment for another 8 weeks (!!)
Hold in there Enthusia - think you will be next too!!
Woke up with dull achey cramps, but seemed to subside when moved about a bit. Bump has definitely dropped too, and constant crampiness which I'm sure means I'm on target for my 39 week prediction. Just got to hold on for hairdressers appointment on Sat!! Feeling generally unwell now, so got over yesterday's panic and just want to get it over with!
Speak later,
Diege, 38+3

Diege · 02/11/2005 11:30

Brilliant news Dangirl!!

Enthusia · 02/11/2005 11:31

Beartime - sorry didn't mean to dampen your enthusiasm. Never had a bloody show, so you could be well on your way. Was only speaking from personal experience

Karma - MW thought I'd come early because my fundal height measurement is now 42cms at 38 weeks, the fact the head is engaged, I have had (we think) a show (well two now), am very wet down there, keep having diarrhoea, the baby is large etc, nothing comletely concrete but has been going on for three weeks now along with daily contractions (although they do not progress). Don't know whether you'd call that a hunch on her part or not. She was definitely wrong about thinking it would be here within the week at my 36 week appointment though.

ChaCha - have also had some staining, but worth trying the bearing down test, you never know.

Twinkle - hope your builders arrive soon. Maybe it is the weather putting them off.

Nova and Rodeo, hope Natalie and Jess sleep better tonight and give you a bit of a break. Any chance on you catching up on some rest today?

Right off out

Enthusia · 02/11/2005 11:33

Oh and congratulations Dangirl, when will your bub be due???? Don't take to heart all our moaning, third trimester of pg is great really!

JenJam · 02/11/2005 11:50

morning all

just woke up from a 'coma' - another night of disrupted sleep followed by my relaxation cd after dp left for work and have only just woken up in a pool of dribble!

i remember you, well done dangirl - all the best with this pregnancy

i love the 'death row' analogy - i'm going to use it with everyone who calls up and asks 'haven't you had the baby yet?' no 'still on death row' - perhaps they'll get the message that it's not good to ask

right i really am going to finish that painting that i've been pretending to do all week.

Jen

beartime · 02/11/2005 12:31

Diege - that's funny about the growth scan appointment!

Enthusia - don't worry it's good to have a bit of touch of reality, and like I always said with my school exams - if I expect it to be bad, it can only be better than I expected! So if I prepare myself for being induced at 42 weeks, then if it comes b4 that it'll be great!

JenJam I think I';ll try the death row too, might get a few blank looks Wot d;you mean by the dribble - waters breaking or the pillow end?! Is it something about late pregnancy - the last few weeks I've kept dribbling onto my pillow and waking up with it - it's quite disgusting really! I never did it b4! Do you lose your mouth muscles or something? I haven't read that as a pregnancy symptom anywhere!!

KristinaM · 02/11/2005 12:51

Hi everyone glad you are all coping.

Congratulations and best wishes dangirl!

Had 2 chiropractc appointments this week and i think baby has turned from breech.....back to transverse!!! I suspect that twinkle and karma are thinking " oh she cant possibly tell" but I have been right about the baby's position so far for teh whole pregnancy.

So I'm trying to see this as a good sign, that there is still plenty space in there despite 6lb baby ( must be all the flab where muscles used to be) so consultant shoudl be able to turn baby tomorrow. Just hope he stays that way.

Twinkle - did teh builders turn up?
