Awww Twinkle & SharonTW - thinking of you both!
I really feel pressure down there now and when walking feel that I must look like a dead ringer for John Wayne. Pains come and go, as of late they seem to come with a backache. Getting used to it but is quite scary when out as have to stand still/stop walking and feel really stupid I remember Enthusia describing similar a couple of weeks ago so am hoping am going through what she did and nothing more.

My washing machine broke down today These things always seem to happen when you least expect them. Just went and bought a washer/dryer -does anyone have the LG one? Is the most amount of money I've ever spent on a kitchen appliance so am hoping that it lasts and was a good buy. Delivery Sunday so baby better not be early, it's cot sheets were in the wash when old one packed in Grrrr!

SmellyMelly - Hope you see this msg. Yes, would be lovely if you could CAT me even just to let me know how you and babies are. Move to France sounds exciting but can imagine you are one busy woman. Wishing you all the best and so very happy for you

So, whose next then?

beartime · 02/11/2005 17:59

Kristina - what if you want 6 babies?!! Just for example...

twinkle1 · 02/11/2005 18:32

KRISTINA
Only some consultants will attempt an ECV, as they are not plesant and have a big failure rate They will not do one if you have had previous c/sections. I have seen lots done and babies often go stariaght back to where they were comfy(little blighters)
I have found c/sections fine not really painful, only everhad a couple of paracetmol afterwards and was only in two days after both of them hope this one will be like that

I am feeling something leaking... do i really have to ring hospital if my waters break, and how soon? Can i wait and not tell them straight away (I don't want to be induced cos I want a homebirth)

tessasmum · 02/11/2005 19:49

It takes so long to catch up these days, even from last night

Can I join the moaning minnies part of the thread? Lots of aches today, mainly bump aches and tightenings. Also feel really knackered but that's mainly due to 2 bad night's sleep as brain is too active!

However Tessa and I made a chocolate and banana cake this afternoon and its YUMMY! Already had one piece and off for another in a minute!
Trying to do nice things with her at the moment as I know there won't be the time soon but she is being a very whingy/clingy little person and its hard to keep my cool at times! Then again she was wonderful with a friend's 6 month old this morning. I was holding the baby when she started to cry. Nothing I could do would stop her until Tessa came and sat on my lap, put her head near the baby's and started to sing to her - instant reaction from baby and one slightly tearful mummy! Hope she is as good with the one that is coming to stay!!

karmamother · 02/11/2005 20:27

Beartime, will you need to ring your community midwife so she knows your waters have gone?

beartime · 02/11/2005 21:55

well for starters I'm not sure if they have. And then I'm not sure that I want to ring. But after talking to my midwife friend tonight I probably will if I think they have. I had a bit of leakage of something and changed my pad, but nothing since, so i don't know really. And to be honest not terribly keen to find out cos of not wanting to be induced! So I shall wait and see if there is more wetness I think. My MW said 2 weeks ago that I don't have much water which is why she can feel the baby really well, all the limbs and everything, so I'm not sure that I would get that much coming out anyway... but if I have another 'wet one' I will ring.

Flossam · 02/11/2005 21:58

Wow, this was my ante natal thread this time last year. Such an exciting time, so . Congratulations to those who've had and good luck to those who are about to! Sooner rather than later I hope for your sakes!

beartime · 02/11/2005 22:01

karma - could it just be hindwaters? How would I know?

JenJam · 02/11/2005 22:16

it's quite pacy on here! twinkle i too have got that uncomfortable sitting on a twig/toothpick feeling - cervix stretching.

i went to hosp drop in today and good thing i did as i discovered ++ protein in urine (and it was ORANGEADE in colour???) I am drinking quite a bit (water..) so not sure why.....blood pressure also up from 90/50 to 120/80 - i almost started crying i thought THIS IS IT! C-section immediately! but two hours of monitoring later they said i could go home.

i'm knackered so nighty night all

may your bumps turn in the night!

beartime · 02/11/2005 22:18

JenJam, did they say you might have pre-eclampsia?

SharonTW · 02/11/2005 22:43

Hi everyone, sounds as though we might all be in there together !!
DH watching STAR Wars so I'm off to bed soon too, can't believe I can sleep so much , I know we're all sick of hearing it - make the most of it !!!
Has the time flewn for anyone else, I can't believe it's nearly here. Still can't imagine being a Mum - getting so excited now , think bellybean has hiccups(grin) bless x
night night girls, sleep well x

Enthusia · 03/11/2005 07:34

Morning all

Not much to report since yesterday. Had a lovely lunch with friend and spent most of the rest of the day sleeping, which is very unlike me, just felt yuck!

Bump seems to have dropped even lower now and feels strange, also had one almighty contraction/BH yesterday where it put me panting on my hands and knees, couldn't do anything else, lasted for about 4mins. Didn't get anymore but by golly if that is what labour is going to be like I think bubs can stay where it is for a bit longer!!!!

Right today I am going to do a few chores and then not much else. Might meet a friend if she is around.

Hope you all slept better last night.

JenJam - hope you are better today, I thought textbook normal BP was 120/80 - mine has been around that region throughout pg and MW says it is perfect. Hope this helps! Don't know about orangeade wee though!!!!!!!

Tessa - the cake sounds gorgeous and Tessa's reaction to friend's baby is adorable - here's hoping she has that calming influence on yours!!!!

Right speak later

Enthusia · 03/11/2005 07:38

Oh and Twinkle - hope pains have subsided and that you managed to sleep - sound nasty again - you really are going through the mill aren't you?

And ChaCha - I suppose one way of looking at the broken washing machine is that at least you will have a brand spanking new sparkly one ready for all that baby washing. I imagine it breaking down once bubs is here would be even worse that before. Maybe it is just life sorting everything out for you nice and early . Oh and hope John Wayne gives you a bit of a break at night, have this image of you trying to sleep with your legs in that rather weird, just got off of horse position .

twinkle1 · 03/11/2005 08:10

good morning,
well pains wore off last night(thank goodeness
Hope everyone else is feeling ok. Im just going to potter arouns and not do much today
Well this time next week i will be buying some snacks and then going in to hosp at tea time!!!! cor i cant belive i am on a weeks count down now
Blimey the weather here is brutal today its blowing a gale!!
well must go and try and eat some breakfast

Diege · 03/11/2005 09:00

Morning all!
Had a bit of a time of it yesterday (along with everyone else I think!)with constant period-type dragging sensation, and a sharp pain on left side of groin. Had to get DH back from work - not contractions, but really unpleasant. Like Twinkle, baby more active than ever and sort of 'tugging'. No doubt just getting in place, but didn't have this with dds!
Twinkle/Karma: is it true what they say about third babies playing you up re: false labour etc? Just desperately trying to hang on for a few more days (probably have to be induced after all this!).
I'd still put my money on Enthusia to be next, though beartime would be a good bet too!
Sarahsausage - dd1 engaged at 36 wks, dd2 at 36 weeks, and both were born 39+2. I don't think it follows that 'early' engagement with no.2 equals early labour, just the way your body works(may be wrong!) This one engaged at 37 wks, so maybe be born at 40? Sometimes it's best not to think too much! .
Read this book last night (Labour Pains) that gave what I thought was good advice (amidst the c**p - flower opening etc..)about very early labour - to try and downplay it all a bit and go for distraction techniques big time (the garden centre anyone?). Pretty obvious I suppose, but I guess it would make whole thing more manageable (mentally at least?).
Wonder who will hear the clink of the death row jailor's keys next .
Well off for a chunky kitkat and to do my roots (oh the glamour!)

JenJam · 03/11/2005 09:16

twinkle where do you live? it's very blowy here too - slept for part of the night in the babies room (not sure why think i got fatigued on the way back from the bathroom and flaked out on spare bed in that room...have discovered the new sash window we had fitted in the baby's room makes very loud banging noise on windy nights!!! oh dear have to sort that out

bear/enthusia - yes concern was P-E ...this is first time i've seen protein in my urine. and my blood pressure is low by msot peoples' standards but is high for me...lets see what bloods say

cha-cha-cha, LG is a very good brand of w/machine i believe. isn't it nice having an excuse to buy new stuff - esp as you will be using it loads

sharonTW ditto about not imagining being a mum; on way out of hosp last night i saw a couple leave with their 6lb daughter (i was thinking they actually let you take the baby home without any further training or anything!!). anyhow this lady looked completely shell shocked; she said she only finished work on friday! baby came early by c-section and now wed night she was going home!! baby also looked a bit shell shocked but adorable. While i was in the day assessment unit there was this other lady who was just leaving apparently she only dropped in to get something checked in between shopping and she had a couple of stomach cramps and then said she felt like she wanted to push...they whisked her off to a little side room and hey presto wheeled her down to postnatal an hour later! she looked a bit 'rabbit in headlights' too. what's wierd is how life can change this dramatically from one day to the next.

on that note, i had better get on with that painting i still haven't finished. and i'm and lunching and afternoon coffeeing today too! oh what a lovely life this is

JenJam · 03/11/2005 09:28

diege, we did a hypnobirthing course which is based on distraction principle - breathing + DP stroking + whispering visualisations in ear along lines of imagine the three of us the moment we all meet/this christmas.....it works i find myself smiling through the pain (in the course you practicise it while tightly holding an ice cube and you can't feel the ice 'burn') there was some flower opening gubbins too. another one is for you and your partner to sit opposite each other. you both hold the bump your own fingers nearly touching and you breath in very very slowly (i imagine i'm dragging on a very tightly rolled 'roll up' your partner counts quite quickly to 20 (if you can inhale for 20 that is - you have to practice) then without holding your breath you exhale equally slowly. anyway that kills 30 seconds and apparently - so i've been told contractions last for 45 seconds - so that's most of hte time. you're supposed to visualise a balloon filling up as you inhale.

i'll let you know if it works or if i'm screaming for epidural at 3 cm dilated.....

I wish I lived in peak district - I looooove mountains (or anything remotely resembling them)

ChaCha · 03/11/2005 10:07

Good morning ladies,

Jenjam - Your imagery always has me grinning away if not laughing out loud. Loved the 'rabbit in headlights' comparison. Scary stuff though!

Diege, I agree with you in saying that sometimes it's better not to think too much. I do apply 'ignorance is bliss' to certain situations. Jailer keys also had me LOL, clink clink!

Enthusia - You are still hanging in there then! Glad all is well. You are right about washing machine, at least it packed in now and not when I have loads of baby garms to wash/dry. Bit lost at the moment without it, didn't realise I use it quite as much. Enjoy your afternoon.

SharonTW - Feel the same too. Time seemed to be dragging and then Sept, Oct have just passed with a blink! Weird huh?

Off to see m/w today. Looking fwd to it too.

xxx

Have to say it is very beautiful here we are surrounded by moors, sheep etc.The downside is we have no cash machines supermarket etc in the village and have to drive to get to anything.I do miss the closeness of shops that i used to have in the north east
But all the animals here do make up for it we have some very funny moments,Last week dd asked why there was a squirrel swimming in the garden pond??? i seem to have the only spacially challenged squirrels in the area!!!
Also had to laugh the council are re doing the dry stone wall up the road, except the workers did not realise that the farmer had 4 large heredfoshire bulls in the top of the field!!! until they charged full throttle at them I nearly crashed the car laughing I have never seen council work men run that fast

JenJam · 03/11/2005 10:33

ditto re: peak district. once i left my MALE colleague in charge of directions to manchester he sent us along the M6 ...after seeing the sign for sheffield i said this is not the way to manchester you lunatic - i had a major freak out (I was quite stressed as it made very very late as it made us very late for something important) so....We cut through the peak district and it was indeed very beautiful, enhanced i think by the stony silence....
