Medee early labour can go like that, you know. Stop start, stop start for a couple of days. So I really think your body is going to do this on its own. Keep chin up, lovely. I know it's so annoying at the end. I can remember being massively emotional because I felt my life had no purpose . Hormones bound to make you feel blubbery. That's all part of it too so take it as another sign your body is about to do its thang. Some baybees just need a bit more cooking time than others, is all. And you are going to do yours to a t. In a couple of months you'll forget all this waiting around through your sleep deprived haze. Hugs.

Your trip does sound lovely, Loz. Don't worry about the seperate beds. Is best that you get all the sleep you can while you still can.

Good luck for scan, Milano.

Is a beautiful day today and stuck at bleedin' work. 3 months and one week til maternity leave. Bah. Would much rather be playing with MiniG in the garden. Investigating prospect of a big trampoline for his birthday...do you think that would get Meds labour going?

owlbooty · 23/03/2011 11:09

Milano wah, I missed the bit about you having scan today! Pink, please. Owlet can then have foxy italian-speaking missus. Splendid. Hope all goes well :)

Ivegotmrbitey · 23/03/2011 11:43

Thanks all Smile Was quite strange yesterday, I was so convinced he was a she that I struggled to process it a bit. I would even go so far as to say I felt a bit sad for the girl baybee I had been imagining but was never there. Strange really, because I truly didn't mind as long as the baybee was healthy. After a night full of boy baybee dreams (and evening spent shopping) I woke up this morning so excited about my baby boy and now want to fast forward the next few months!

score my husband is of the drumming variety and we have many drums in the house already! He plays the smaller ones on my knees at nights to try and get the baybee to dance - this may explain why he is such a wriggler. Love that your baybee is mooning you!

Hols sound lovely loz and you were so lucky with the weather! Sounds like very well timed R&R.

aries my PE teacher would call us boys bach as well, odd really for girls Confused

Good luck milano hope to hear fab news soon!

meds I left you till last but not least as been saving these hair strokes for you, poor dab. It really is a roller coaster ride around this old circle of life isn't it? Soon this waiting will feel like a distant memory as you snuffle your fabulous little new born. Have made myself cry now!

Scorpette · 23/03/2011 12:36

Welcome back, lovely Lolly! Glad you had such a fab break :) The having-to-sleep-separately thing is pants, isn't it? And it does feel like a 'drifting away from each other' thing too. But that's not the case, is it? We all have luffly menz who understand that things are difficult at times and things are changing (for good or temporarily) and that doesn't affect their love for us. We wouldn't be having baybees with them if they were selfish arseholes, would we?!

Me and TYF used to regularly have cuddles in bed where we tangled ourselves up in each other's limbs but I'm just too big and cumbersome for that now Sad Still, I have managed the last 2 nights in bed with him, so that's good.

Medee, I hope those contractions were proper ones and not dream ones. The MW I did my plan with yesterday said that birth can often be more difficult emotionally for older 1st-time Mums, as we're so used to being in control of our lives, being professional, making things run smoothly, etc., but we can't dictate birth, which makes a lot of sense. You must be bloody fed up waiting for things to get going, though. Hope things kick off today - it's my Mum's birthday (and my best friend's) so it's a Very Good date to be born on :)

Talking of which, is it TOO soppy that we've bought her the 'Good Grannies Guide' as one of her pressies and that The Lad has, ahem, 'dictated' a little message to me to write in her card? Blush

Look, I've never pretended to be a DHB, okay?!

Bitey, I felt a bit sad too initially that mine wasn't a girl because I'd imagined 'her' lots, etc. Then I got super-excited about meeting my Lad! It's not being a bad person or not loving or wanting your actual baby; the sadness is letting go of a dream that's brought you happiness, that's all and is perfectly normal. The reality is always going to be a gazillion times better than any fantasy I'm really looking forward to being Queen Bee with 2 males adoring me Grin

Scorpette · 23/03/2011 12:38

PS Bitey, I hate loud noises - I'm defo sending The Lad round yours for drumming sessions! Wink

Casserole · 23/03/2011 13:12

Oh Medee I'm so sorry you're still playing the waiting game. But I also think the signs are all that your body is gearing up and pre-labouring; so I reckon even if they start with the pessary you're likely to take it yourself from there without needing any more intervention.

Thinking of you. Hope you can do something nice for yourself this afternoon. Otherwise we'll all take turns tweaking your nips Grin

Medee · 23/03/2011 13:22

we're so used to being in control of our lives, being professional, making things run smoothly, etc., but we can't dictate birth

that's pretty much what I blubbed into MrM's chest last night.

I do get to snuffle a newborn this afternoon; yesterday's coffee has been rearranged. Bring on the oxytocin!

Yeah, tis a bit weird when you do find out the flava especially if you thought it was going to be the other one. I guess as I found out so early I didn't have as much time to mentally create a theoretical baybee - and now post-20 week scan it's finally feeling like a real baybee instead if you see what I mean. A few people have asked me since the scan if I was sad it wasn't a girl - hell no, like all of us in here a healthy baby of any flava will be a massive blessing & our little boys will all be completely ace :)

Plus it does help that he keeps kicking me in the guts to remind me he's there.

I used to play the drums; it was very good for getting rid of grumpiness. It has however left me slightly deaf in one ear. Whoops.

Scorps you are so right about the luffly B/PESHmenfolk. I want to make them all a special badge.

Scorpette · 23/03/2011 13:30

Awww, poor Medee. Remember - part of those heightened emotions is excitement because you also know that you'll be snuffling your very own wee bairn VERY VERY SOON! In the meantime, enjoy this avo's snuffling; it could well really help :)

Scorpette · 23/03/2011 13:31

Amen to wot you said about the flava, Boots :)

You just made me choke on my scone! Now I have crumbs up my nose, damnit.

When I briefly tried the pill I got pregnancy dark patches on my face. So I am figuring those will show up at some point soon - that will look v.v.nice. If they only show up on the pill and not whilst I am updiffed I will be mightily displeased with the pill manufacturers.

I am intending to paint a mural of the seaside on the nursery wall. Whether I actually get off my sorry (and possibly now also hairy, need to check) arse and do this is another matter.

Scorpette · 23/03/2011 13:55

My pelvic floor can no longer cope with terms like 'anal mane'! Grin Absolute genius (And I'm sure you're totally deluded about it)!

Yeah, Bitey, we'll have our lads and menfolk doing regular jamming sessions and we can get together and chill :)

LOVE those stickers!

Right, am off to spoil my Mum rotten - laterz, bitches!

Orchid12 · 23/03/2011 14:01

FWIW, I had some comments that I found very annoying about the flava of this baby. I have had countless people telling me that they hoping it's a girl, given we already have a boy as 'having one of each would be perfect'. I have also had a close friend say that 'two boys' would be awful and her worst nightmare, and a few others saying that they're so glad they had girls first as they wouldn't not have wanted to have a girl! I have to say that I have found all of these comments immensely irritating and untactful to say the least. I have bitten my tongue on more than one occasion. As you know, we haven't old anyone the flava of squidge as I'd like for them to have the surprise, so all these comments are made without the knowledge of whether squidge is/isn't a boy.

I can understand it's wierd when you get your head round the idea baby is one or t'other and start planning mentally around that only for it to be something different, but you will love your little guys Smile
I know LadyGG will back me up, having my wee man is the best thing ever, as I'm sure having a daughter is. As it happens, I secretly always wanted a boy when I was expecting him and I was mega excited when he popped out and was indeed a boy. He's the kindest and cuddliest wee thing you can imagine. If I could clone him and have a second just like him I would!

Got to dash as I've got a student coming, but wanted to say to Meds before I go that I wish you all the best. I don't think I'll get chance to come back on before we go away, so when I get back in a week's time you'll be enjoying your tiny baby cuddles Smile.

Ivegotmrbitey · 23/03/2011 14:07

Were you getting a lot sun exposure owlie? Have heard that can make dark patches come out?

I had to get my posts withdrawn as when I clicked on the stickers it went into my account. Pliz to not order vay expensive things on my credit card? I have only just beat it into submission!

I would love to paint a mural but am so cack handed with a paint brush the result would just make me feel embarassed in front of the baby! As it is the FDH is going to have to be in charge of sticker placement.

I think I am going to have to look at every one else's behinds for a perve comparison purposes. Please form an orderly line Grin

LadyGoneGaga · 23/03/2011 14:10

Backing up Orcs. Yup, little boys rock. MiniG is incredibly cuddly and affectionate. Likes a bit of rough and tumble too, never mardy even when he burned his face quite badly he hardly cried, can't leave me at the moment without pulling down my jeans and kissing my bump and cuddling "his baby". Said I was the best Mummy in the world the other day

I always thought (before I had one) that boys would be a bit charging around all the time and not wanting cuddles but in my experience they do the charging round but seem to be more cuddly than girls if anything.

Would love a girl too but would be just as happy with another little chap. Would make MiniG happy too as he really wants a baby brother. I'd quite like another after this if poss so you never know...maybe he can have a brother and a sister.

owlbooty · 23/03/2011 14:15

Do not worry, I had not noticed it was your account, am not observant like that.

You could very well be right about the sun exposure not helping, but then I do wear factor 15 moisturiser most of the time and am stuck in a poxy office so suspect I am just predisposed to it.

Orcs your little fella sounds absolutely gorgeous, am not surprised you have been irritated by the daft comments. Am so looking forward to having one of my own when I am not busy being terrified I am going to fuck it up royally. :)

owlbooty · 23/03/2011 14:17

X-post - MiniG also sounds v.v.cuddley and in danger of making me lose my DHB status as he is clearly going to be an ace big brother

Medee · 23/03/2011 14:21

your boys sounds lovely.

Ivegotmrbitey · 23/03/2011 14:28

Eeep!

Hoping that it was just the pill for you then owlie, you can have some of my acne to cover it if you like

I am seeing GP tomorrow about my skin, typically it has cleared up in readiness for this appointment with the intention of resuming hostilities on Friday. I have taken a photo of it at its angry red worst on my phone and will take it along as evidence. Ha! Outwitted it!

Little boys are gorgeous, my nephew is just wonderful! It's a cautionary tale really to not get too carried away imagining one or the other! The other odd thing is that I have been determinedly gender neutral about clothes but now have a very strong urge to get a blue baby-grow!

rocketleaf · 23/03/2011 14:29

Two girls, two boys, one of each, litter of 5 kittens? Do people REALLY think one or the other is better? People say such daft things really, I am sure all possible configurations have their benefits as in YOU GET TO HAVE KIDS!!! I think people who say such silly things must be most firmly in the " I looked at a penis and got diffed" camp because anyone even remotely BESH would just be thankful they are diffed at all. Daftness.

bitey i wouldn't worry too much, i bet it as just the cookies on your computer, so that when you click on the link it would take you into your account, but for anyone else it wouldn't (and perhaps why owly couldnt see it) still better to be safe than sorry.

AlpinePony · 23/03/2011 14:33

I feel very blessed because secretly I wanted a boy - but for number 2? Gosh, I'd love a little boy. Or a little girl. Or a little boy. Or a little girl. Or both. Grin Pls to not spunk too much cash on baybee clothes? I've cut off a vest this morning with scissors due to Poonami I could not deal with.

laurielou · 23/03/2011 14:34

Ah, MiniG sounds ace. My mum said my brother was far more cuddly than my sister & I put together. He also caused the most mayhem around the house, especially during his "cowboy" days (sister found tied to a chair with a skipping rope & he broke kitchen window hurling skipping rope around as a lassoo).

Most people are convinced I'm having a boy, so have managed to convince me too. Mr Loz has decided to be awkward & thinks its a girl. At first I wanted a girl - purely because of the nappy issue. Now I'm convinced its a boy I think that's ace. Then I saw the most adorable bright yellow swimsuit & the thought of a rounded little girl tummy in that nearly made me melt. So I suppose it boils down to the fact that I don't really mind Grin. I'll be happy either way & also have a tiny moan that it wasn't the other sex either way (coz I'm awkward like that).

I actually bought some stuff at lunchtime! Sleep bras, maternity pads & disposable knickers. Bam-chica-wow-wow. I got all confuzzled with the sleepsuit / body suit / sleevless / short sleeve / long sleeve thing & just ended up leaving them all Blush. Honestly, I want to be sensible & just buy what we need. But I have no idea what size to start with, should I go for middle of the road short sleeve baring in mind summer (ish) baby. Could be chuffing boiling, could be crap summer. I'm fecking rubbish at making my mind up lately.

In other news, I really fancy a big custard slice.

owlbooty · 23/03/2011 14:34

Frankly, with the crap I'm eating right now I will be happy if it is a baybee that pops out when I sneeze and not a large almond croissant.
