laurie It was in the late-30s here when Bear was born and he still needed wrapping up and long sleeves. :)

LadyGoneGaga · 23/03/2011 14:47

Loz - Buy short sleeved bodysuits and long sleeved sleep suits. Is all you need. Baby will generally wear the former as a vest and the latter on top. On baking hot days leave off the vest or on really scorchio days just in a vest or even just a nappy if really boiling and noone can sleep. Never seen the point of long sleve vests personally - they just make their little arms too bulky. On cold days add a cardie too. Rule of thumb is to dress them in one more layer thsan you feel comfy in.

MiniG tied me into the shower a couple of weeks ago. With phone cable. Tied the doors together while I was washing hair with eyes shut. With me in it naked. Was not amused. Had visions of having to climb out or wait the whole day til MrG got home from work with a toddler running rampant and unsupervised downstairs but thankfully there was about a cm gap that I could manoevre my finger through and untie his frankly amateurish knot Grin. So he's not as angelic as he looks!

Tsk, Alps but I can't bring myself to throw anything away no matter how cheap or poo-ey. I applaud your pragmatic, chilledness in such matters. Must be the Scottish blood in me. Have rescued many a pair of poo-ey pants in the potty training process!

laurielou · 23/03/2011 14:47

Thanks Alps in that case I shall require a polar neck & fleece blanket for sunny Wales Grin

Grin Grin Owly. Fingers crossed for a baby.

laurielou · 23/03/2011 14:54

x-posts. Thanks for the advice there LadyG. MiniG is sounding funnier & generally more fantastic by the minute.

Ivegotmrbitey · 23/03/2011 15:31

That is very helpful advice lala I filled an online shopping basket last night and then didn't buy any becauae I was having the same confusion as loz re the summer. Tsk about the knot standards of miniG though, get him to cubs quickly!

rocket a litter ????

Forgot to say earlier, I got kicked last night that I could feel from the outside! Well, I think I did as I did do an enormous fart about a minute later but I have never felt just wind bubbling so much I could feel it with my hand before!

LadyGoneGaga · 23/03/2011 15:35

Aw, bet it was Biteybach. I can feel mine from outside sometimes but baybee stops as soon as MrG goes near. Plus I think he is too impatient. Wait a few more weeks though. MiniG used to kick ex-MrG (his Dad) in the back when we were in bed!

Ivegotmrbitey · 23/03/2011 15:39

I just had another one in confirmation Smile! The FDH is going be delighted to be kicked when he is already lying awake with my snoring!

LadyGoneGaga · 23/03/2011 15:49

But you are being kept awake/fat/swollen/uncomfortable with carrying HIS progeny. I think he gets the better deal, frankly Grin

owlbooty · 23/03/2011 15:53

Oooh, v.exciting kicking! I have only had the one proper outside kick over the weekend and am waiting for the next ones.

milanomum · 23/03/2011 16:56

I love all this girl-boy talk. I've had people ask me what I want to have which I find mind-boggling a) it's fekkin rude and b) why on earth would I tell anyone even if I did have a preference? They're all nuts.

Your little boys all sound so cuddly and impish :) I have loved being the mother of a girl for all the same reasons Grin

I've had a few proper kicks recently and TIS felt one last night Smile (after me insisting he held his hand there for about 6 hours).

Anyway, had scan. everything fine. Boy Grin. Bought pick'n'mix to celebrate. Fizzy cola bottle anyone?

Now, where was that dinosaur t-shirt?

milanomum · 23/03/2011 16:57

Can I get another Grin in there?

owlbooty · 23/03/2011 17:01

Boy! Hoorah! How ace Grin

He will be needing this then.

Although to be honest I would buy these things even if I was having a girl.

I luff the cola bottles.

I have spent too much time on here today, tut. Work is dull.

rocketleaf · 23/03/2011 17:50

I luffs cola bottles too. hoorah for another blue flava! Oh you must be sooo happy now you will have one of each

Medee · 23/03/2011 17:59

mmm, fizzy cola bottles, takes me right back to my Haribo binging of the first trimester. Hurrah for ItalionBoy!

Didn't get to snuffle the newborn as she was sleeping but she is gorgeous and a very helpful eye-on-the-prize reminder.

Medee · 23/03/2011 18:00

ItaliOn ??? ffs.

OP posts:
CluckyKate · 23/03/2011 18:36

Shame you didn't get to snuffle the newborn Meds - very soon you'll have your own little one to cuddle.

Sounds like your body is cranking up for the main event....I remember similar stuff happening in the week building up to Babychick's arrival and, sure enough, he did eventually get here without any need for induction or intervention.

Good luck for tomorrow. If you're in the frame of mind to opt for monitoring is worth pointing out that a great bishop's score, bloody show, BH/contractions in the evenings etc. are all signs that birthing is imminent. So, whilst it makes you a great candidate for induction it also means things are close to kicking off naturally. HTH.

Whatever you decide to do, remember we're all thinking of you and make sure MrMeds is ready to fight your corner ensure you get the birth you want so that you can stay focused on your relaxation & breathing techniques and delivering your baby.

See you in the Spa!!! Grin

LadyGoneGaga · 23/03/2011 19:30

Lovely scan news, Milano! More boys. So am I the ONLY one having a surprise?

Scorpette · 23/03/2011 19:57

Oooh, another boy! Does this mean MiniMed will be a girl, to even things out? Congrats, Milano

BTW, Loz, I think you're having a girl. It's just me spidey senses, innit. The only PESH I've not been able to guess have been VAG and Medee (sorry). Got everyone else right so woo-oooo-ooh [Mystic Meg Face]

I'd say that I can't believe how rude people can be about the flava of other people's kids, but I can Angry I do think that there's a current trend that boys are somehow a disappointment - perhaps I was guilty of that myself at first? A woman in a shop actually said 'never mind' Shock to me when she asked if I knew what I was having and I told her. She got a right piece of my mind, let me tell you! Angry TYF is the middle of 3 brothers and they all get on so well and none of them are or were yer stereotypical 'lad' types (I don't mean lad as in my usual Northern way, IYSWIM); none of them interested in boysy or blokeish things, like sport, drinking, whatever the cliches are. As long as The Lad isn't as hyperactive as my bro, that's all I worry about!

Re: baby clothes - I thought that as I was having a summer baby I just needed short sleeves, but everyone has pointed out to me that they can't regulate their temperature at first, so need an extra layer, at least. So much to learn - is like doing an intensive course at times!

Wise words (as always :) ) from Kate there, Medee. You are in the home straights now, keep focusing on that. Mr M always sounds like a rock, so together, you'll be unbeatable. This time tomorrow night you might be getting Mr M to update us on here with the exciting details - hint, hint!

No, seriously, focus on your new arrival and enjoy every snuffly second.

PS Lovely top, Booty - I think most Boden tops are (or should be) pretty much unisex. Shame they're also pretty pricey.

HighPriestessBoo · 23/03/2011 20:01

Another boy for the ESH Milano, Yay! I echo the sentiments of all the boy mums, anti-boy talk pisses me right off. I had the moment of grieving for a girl at the 20week scan - I'd had years of dreams about going shopping together, doing her hair, bring her up to be a feminist and all that jazz, but what happens (woo alert) is that when you look into your newborn's eyes you realise that you get the baybee you were meant to get, and it's all just bloody lovely.

If I do get updiffed again by some bloody miracle then I am convinced it'll be another boy.

Meds Best of luck for tomorrow. Sounds like you are so close... am sending beat the hospital vibes your way.

Scorpette · 23/03/2011 20:05

Meant to add that I couldn't help snorting with larfter at MiniG's antics! A rate cheeky young bugger, as they'd say in our birth town Wink

Scorpette · 23/03/2011 20:21

Boo, as a feminist I'm now really excited about bringing up a Good Man. I ain't having no DIL moaning about me letting him get away with man-crap Grin

And you WILL have another, whatever the flava. I COMMAND IT!

BTW, I think that for me, I could only imagine having a girl possibly because I only have my own experience of being little to go on to form my opinion of a baby/tot, if you get me (and my brother was an absolute brat, so that didn't help me form a good opinion of little boys). I think this is probably true for a lot of women - we can't imagine what it's like to be a little boy so it seems a bit... dunno what the word is: odd? Daunting? Different? Less easy to get your head around. The stereotyping of girls as cute angels and boys as hyperactive ruffians doesn't help anyone and is bullshit.

But I can honestly say that if they hand me a girl and say the scans were all wrong, I would be heartbroken at not getting my Lad. We love him so fiercely already and have been calling him by his name for months now!

Ocarina · 23/03/2011 20:34
Medee · 23/03/2011 20:48

thanks all, and Kate especially for that reminder. MrM is going to be there for me, which is really helping me face tomorrow. He's also been fielding the telephone calls this evening, which has been good.

CurlyCasper · 23/03/2011 21:01

sorry, I haven't been around much of late, but want to say all the best for tomorrow medee. Will be thinking of you and sending vibes for an easy sneezy, you-in-control birth.

HighPriestessBoo · 23/03/2011 21:04

So excited for you Medee. Have you decided to definitely go with the induction or are you still unsure?
