Just popping in to check on Medee and MiniMeds. Sending you all lots of ESH luff.

RunLyraRun · 01/04/2011 13:15

Medee, have just heard about MiniMeds, how terrifying for you all. Just wanted you to know that I'm thinking NICU>SCBU>HOME thoughts as hard as I can.

Scorpette · 01/04/2011 14:40

Hope today is a better day for EA, Medee. Candle lit here too and ever more love and healing being vibed her (and your) way XXXX I hope you managed to BF and get more cuddles :)

Am I too late to wrestle Lyra to the ground for a snog? I bloody love that woman!

I hope this might cheer us up: got TYF good 'n' proper for April Fool's this morning - rang him up pretending to sound flustered, saying I'd had a MW appointment and she'd heard 2 heatbeats and thought she could now feel 2 babies and thought I might have a 'hidden twin' and was sending me to hossie for a scan. He screeched 'WHAAAAAA?' and I heard some bloke in the background saying 'You all right, ?', heh heh. He then asked if they'd be able to fit me in for the scan ASAP and I replied that yes, as people don't generally schedule scans for APRIL FOOL'S DAY! Grin He was too relieved to be angry with me! I then deadpanned that I was really phoning to dump him. Obvy, I pointed out this was a 2nd joke... (eventually). I'm such a cow!

Casserole · 01/04/2011 14:40

Still thinking of you so much. We all are. x

SilverSky · 01/04/2011 15:11

Medee two of my pals have their new baybees in Special Care at the mo also. MB sends EA lots of gentle cuddles. Thinking of you all.

Medee · 01/04/2011 17:43

thank you everyone for your lovely thoughts - it occurred to me last night that perhaps posting this stuff on a thread full of pregnant women wasn't the most appropriate, but I haven't yet graduated onto the next ESH support network. Not a lot to update this afternoon, but she is now out of the incubator and in a heated cot. She's been having some scans this afternoon, so we've been home as we couldn't go with her. About to have dinner, then head up again so might find out more info then.

oh, and we changed the stinkiest nappy this morning!

FannyPriceless · 01/04/2011 18:00

meds We are all thinking of you over on the FESH thread and wishing the best for Minimeds. Come on over any time you want to. (You will have plenty of rivals for the 'stinky nappy of the day' award.Wink)

Truffkin · 01/04/2011 18:56

So sorry to have been away for a couple of days and missed the updates from Meds and am cheered by the update today, sounds like things are moving in the right direction. Horrible that you are going through this but sending hugs and keeping a candle lit until you are all back home together.

Today has been very productive as I called the hospital following a letter from them arriving yesterday and have my midwife appointment booked for 13th April and my scan booked for 7th May. Yes, that is a Saturday! The appointmetn letter came through for Monday 9th but at a time that TGB wouldn't have been able to make and it said they want to make sure you have a choice so call if you need to change it. The lady I spoke to on the phone was absolutely lovely and when I apologised for being a pain and explained TGB was working on some launches and we had limited time to fit him in during May. She asked me if I'd like a Saturday, I said I didn't realise they did them on Saturdays, she was lovely and said something like 'we have special rules for special people' - what a sweetie!

In less exciting news, I am a sickly thing from sicksville good and proper now. I have barely been able to keep food down for the last 2 days (although have continued to eat between vomming to 'keep my strength up' of course) and have totally gone off milk or anything with milk in, including tea Even my newly developed craving for ready salted McCoys (very specific) seems to have waned and I am Not Impressed. Thankfully we have a weekend of no plans, so I can laze around as much as a like. I may also take a little walk round to the lovely baby stuff shop to have a nose at the snuffly things in there (they sell Amby nature's nests so I can start to dream)

Thank cripes it's the weekend people!

Scorpette · 01/04/2011 18:58

Don't worry for a second about posting here, Meds - we're always here for you :) I bet that was the greatest stinky nappy you'll ever change; her little system must be working well if the contents of her pants are grossing you out Wink Great news about moving out of the incubator, too. Both me and my brother were in incubators (albeit briefly) as newborns and were hale and hearty from then on, if that helps. I think I've missed why she needs to be in hossie, but it sounds like she's a real fighter. Hope you've both filled up with a hearty meal and get more good news this evening. Thinking of your little family all the time xx

PollyPoo · 01/04/2011 20:34

Meds thanks for updating us, I've been thinking about you all day. I'm glad your darling little girl is out of the incubator and I hope you get some more good news this evening. Candle is lit again for you and both TG and I are thinking of you. x

owlbooty · 01/04/2011 20:38

Good work MiniMeds for escaping the incubator :) Will continue to keep everything crossed for a speedy recovery x And this is DEFINITELY the right thread to post on, no question x

You poor thing - have you tried boiled sweets? Bitter lemon drink diluted with water? That's about all I wanted for weeks.

LadyGoneGaga · 01/04/2011 20:55

Glad she's doing ok and making progress, Meds. Don't worry about scaring us or anything - better to be prepared that sometimes there are bumps in the road I think and then a happy surprise if there aren't. Sending healing vibes xxx

Ocarina · 01/04/2011 21:44

Medee don't even think about apologising for posting here. Glad things are improving, long may it continue, hope the scan results brought good news. Lots of love to all of you.

laurielou · 02/04/2011 10:46

Meds thanks for the update, have been thinking about you all. Today is another day, I have everything crossed for continued good progress. Love to you all, x

Scorpette · 02/04/2011 11:17

Hope EA has had a good night, Medee. Sending yet more love to you all :)

CurlyCasper · 02/04/2011 12:56

just checking in briefly to send more love in Medee's diredtion. hope baby is improving and the cuddles are getting more frequent. A dirty bum is a good sign! ((()))

Casserole · 02/04/2011 13:32

Also still thinking of you so much Meds

Truffkin · 02/04/2011 15:35

Hope today has brought more good news Meds sending lots of love and hugs your way.

rocketleaf · 02/04/2011 17:34

Just checking in and so happy to see EA has graduated from the incubator. Thanks for taking the time to update us and don't even think about not posting here meds we will always be here for you, every step of the way and know it would be the same if the boot was on the other foot. Hope today bring even more improvements. X from the Wye.

Muser · 02/04/2011 18:36

Hope things have improved further today Meds.

Medee · 02/04/2011 19:18

Evening all. Got the results of the MRI this morning to understand the impact of the seizures- not completely OK but not worst case scenario either - very far from it. She'll be monitored every step of the way to see when she hits her milestones, and there is a lot we can do to ensure she hits those (Mother's educational attainment being directly related to recovery). I'll go into the background on all that happened one day - guess we are going to have to debrief ourselves at some point. I'm going back to stay at the hospital tonight, as she's wideawake in the middle of the night and that seems like the best time to try BF again. Keep you posted, thanks all xxx

Muser · 02/04/2011 19:43

Lots of love to you Medee. I hope she thrives and you look back on this as a very scary but brief episode.

Scorpette · 02/04/2011 19:54

Thanks for updating, Meds - it all sounds so scary; can't imagine what you've been going through. Your post is full of your admirable customary poise and level-headedness - even if you no doubt feel anything but at the mo! - and this will keep all of you strong and get little EA to those milestones right on time I hope you're eating properly and somehow managing to catch some sleep - whilst both might seem unimportant/impossible/self-indulgent, they are not as she needs a healthy mum, esp. to fill her up during those precious night feeds. You and she have so much love and support behind you all, in RL and online, never forget that. Just work on processing everything for yourselves before you worry about filling us all in more. Wish I could give you huge hugs in person (and give your lovely girl a little get-well-soon kiss) XXXX Look after yourself and send my love to Mr M too.

Scorpette · 02/04/2011 20:06

Oh, here's something that might inspire you - I was just telling TYF what the update is on EA (he gets very involved knowing about all the FESH babies) and he said that he had several fits when he was a newborn (which is news to me) and he suggested I told you here as reassurance. They never worked out what or how or why but it didn't affect him at all and he never had any fits after that time; he's super-fit and healthy and was always top of the class, etc. I hope examples like this help; babies are remarkably resilient :)
