Have been dying to start a thread so here goes!

Got a BFP on Wednesday so if all goes well I will be due on the 1st July 2006.

Have 1 DD who is 2 years 3 months and am finally PG again after a MC in June.

Come and join in the fun!

Wow... thats fab... just logged on and saw those messages. You all sound lovely. Is it quite normal to feel totally panicky about the whole thing one day and then itching to have the baby the next? And when do you start buying things? Work have sent me some forms asking how long I will want off work and I havent a clue... love the idea of being home for ages, but will then have no money for food or nappies or chinese takeaways!
What do your other halves (if applic) think of mums net? I havent told mine about finding this little gem incase he thinks i've joined a cult!

xmasspub · 01/01/2006 18:48

hey bumpy!
My dh calls the mumsnetters my "homies" and asks each day if I have checked in with you all! He thinks it's great. I had a mc earlier this year and found mumsnet an invaluable source of solace, advice and support. It's amaxing to be able to "hang out" with people who are going through exactly what you are.
The panicking is totally normal - as is the impatience.
Dunno when to advise about buying stuff. People have different views on this and some are superstitious about kitting out a nursery too early. On the other hand, I wouldn't leave it too late as nearer your due date you will not have the energy!
I took a year's mat leave last time and plan to do so again. It's tough financially but we managed. Again, everyone has their own views/set of circumstances to consider. One thing though is that no one on here will ever judge you.We all respect each other's differences (well, mostly, anyway!)

bumpybel · 01/01/2006 20:19

Thanks for that Xmasspub! This is becoming seriously addictive already! I'm supposed to be revising for boring work exams at the moment, but since finding out about tummy, its all gone a bit out of the window! Even if I attempt to look at a book, i drift off within seconds into daydreams of whats happening inside! I dont think I could afford a year off, even with DH doing overtime.. have two step kids too, although not with us all the time. Havent told them yet, due to evil ex.

Lots of back ache at the moment, but read in a book that uterus is size of grapefruit! Feels like ages til next appointment... March... am sticking by my due date of 4th July... a little cancerian! Contemplating trying that thread test, but dont think i could get my ring off at the moment and sewing and needles are alien to me! Have put on about five pounds already in the first fourteen weeks!Oh well!

Hope everything ok with everyone else... its also going to be the chinese year of the dog soon, which is quite nice.

Happy New Year everyone. I have been bah humbug and tired and sick all over Chrimble but starting to come out of it now, so hurray. Don't know scan date yet but EDD is 26th July....

jersey · 03/01/2006 11:27

Happy New Year everyone. Not been on for ages as off ill then xmas, etc. Working from home today with DS (not much getting done!!)

Jamiesam so sorry at your news, what a shock!!!!

Welcome to the new ones .

Just had my scan this morning and my dates have changed to the 21.07.06. We did expect it as it was either that or twins going on my symptons. At least its not twins as they are extremely hard work. Baby was very clear on the scan, good strong heartbeat and the you could even see the cord pulsing.

Happy New Year from me too.

to newcomers and very for those we have lost.

I had a bit of a scare on Christmas day with some bleeding and cramping (forced to lie on sofa all day by dh) but went to Early Pregnancy Unit and had a scan a couple of days later and all seemed fine. Infact, they reckoned I am maybe a week further on than I thought from dates due to size but said they wouldn't change my EDD until I have the dating/nuchal scan (on 10th Jan). So my EDD is still 22nd July.

Am really really hoping sickness goes away soon as have also been very bah humbug over Christmas. though having had the scare am also reassured to still be feeling sick IYSWIM. Just wish I would get past this stage and start blooming .

Evening ladies

First day back at work today-v. busy so knackered. Still feeling icky and am 14+3. WILL IT EVER END????????????????????????

Ooh-our list is getting nice and long. I am going through the paranoid stage of worrying if beanie is still alive as it is too early to feel kicking so I am in limbo. Never been so desperate to be kicked in my life .

Anyway, must attempt to get some tea ready.

Lots of love to all.

Evening to you all

Have an appointment at the premature clinic tomorrow. Expecting a cervical scan and then to take it from there. Shall be interesting...

13 + 3 today still feel paranoid though. Second the anticipation of the kicks!

Dangirl

kbaby · 03/01/2006 20:39

iamblossom, we have our scans on the same day. I tried changing mine as im supersticious but they didnt have anyother days.

HC. With my DD I hired a dopler from 13 weeks just to give me peace of mind until the kicks started. It did help but became a habit.

Ive had bleeding again tonight. Its only spotting but still alarming. Ive also got a slight tummy ache. I dont want to ring the hospital again as it would be my 4th trip but its hard to know when to ignore the bleeding or when to worry.

Straightforward · 03/01/2006 21:37

Hi all and Happy New Year! As bumpybel pointed out (welcome, by the way, bb), it's the Chinese year of the dog, which means that our little beanies will be loyal, honest and generous but could be prone to stubborness and selfishness (according to the free calendar given out by our local takeaway anyway!!)

12 weeks tomorrow, but still intermittent cramping. Nuchal scan on Monday, and all being well we'll go public (that is, to the 3 people in Outer Mongolia who don't already know...) after that. Nervous about telling dd...

Just added myself to list...
Had nuchal scan today, all good with baby etc. 1:18,000 chance of having a down's baby.
All feels rather real now and lovely to compare the scan picture with the old 12 week one of ds. How very similar they look!

bumpybel · 03/01/2006 22:53

.. and me! 4th July! Glad various scans have gone well. I'm feeling rough as old boots today... has anyone taken any sort of headache remedy yet? I've been too scared to, but todays about the worst yet... Thought it was supposed to get better going into second block. Will be fourteen weeks on thurs.. roll on glowing hair and skin (PLEEASE!!!)... off to throw up and lie still for hour!

Morning ladies

My cat had been sick in the night and had sloppy poo so have had to clean that up first thing this morning-yuk!!!

I have been taking copious amounts of paracetamol like I did with DD-worried now that I may have done damage. I have a heart monitor thing I bought off Ebay but I can't work out what the sounds are-I am due to go for blood tests on the 19th to test for downs etc. I wonder if the midwife wil be able to hear anything with her doppler-I will be 16+5 then.

kbaby-I would still ring the EPU-that is what they are there for hun. Hope all is OK. ((xx))

All you lucky ladies having nuchal scans-we just couldn't afford it so are relying on the blood tests.

Off food shopping today as absolutely no food in the house. Means I will have to make the effort to get DH his tea ready as over the festive time I had an excuse-jam sandwich or nothing

Bye for now

You be careful cleaning up Cat's bits and pieces HC, mind you if no-one else around you're not going to just leave it are you...

KBaby, I guess we'll just have to dub our beanies Jason or Damian for the duration if our scans are on the 13th! I am mildly superstitious too but too excited to have the scan to attempt to change the dates. What time is yours?

I do believe I am back in the land of the living re feeling sick and tired. DS slept for 13 hours straight last night (I don't know what they did to him at nursery yesterday but I asked them to do it again today whatever it was, as that is the best night's sleep any of us have had in months) and my sickness has definitely reduced, and can face food and smells again. Was really struggling with the smell of toast and couldn't bear my shower gel, but seems ok this morning. I MIGHT even go for a swim at lunchtime..........

xx

jersey · 04/01/2006 10:29

Morning, first day back at work today, aahhhh! roll on maternity leave. Must sort out what we can afford me to work after the baby as may have to cut my hours sooner than expected as MIL is ill and may not beable to cope with DS full time.

My sickness dissappeared at 9 weeks, which I thought was early but turns out was 10/11 weeks same as last time so not so bad now.

So relieved to see good strong heartbeat yesterday. Just emailed my boss with list of appointments coming up as I have midwife, hpyertension clinic and next scan appointments already.

HC I think the midwife should beable to hear the heartbeat from 8 weeks.

Straightforward · 04/01/2006 10:42

Morning all! Ahh - back at my desk, already procrastinating, but how nice to have a bit of time and space to myself! Love dd fiercely, but v glad she's gone back to playschool today

Don't worry about paracetamol HC - I've been told categorically by a dr, a pharmacist and a midwife that it's safe in pregnancy (assuming you're not allergic to it or anything normally). Obviously stick to the right doses though!

12 weeks today! Really impatient to have my nuchal scan so I can just tell dd - it's really eating away at me now. Have to wait till Monday though. I was hoping the midwife would be able to hear a heartbeat at my checking-in appt, but apparently they can't until 14 weeks - should be ok for you then HC.

Straightforward · 04/01/2006 12:13

Have to share this with you guys - after a session with my coach a while back, we hatched a plan for me to light a candle whilst I'm working to remind me to honour my 'pilot light' (ie that spark inside that can die really easily when faced with lots of dull stuff). Well, was feeling rather lacking in motivation this morning so I lit it. Shortly afterwards, it set fire to my phone headset I use for coaching, rendering it useless in seconds and sending clouds of noxious plastic fumes into the air. Thought this was quite ironic, and wondered whether the Universe was trying to tell me something, and went to send a humourous note to my coach saying as much, when I found that my email account inexplicably didn't recognise me any more and refused me access. Any Geminis out there know whether Mercury is in retrograde or something?!?!? Actually feeling remarkably calm - at least I can still MN!
