cherub59 · 06/03/2011 08:05

How weird - no one is actually due today! Wonder if that will make it a bumper day!!!

Congrats Carrie on the first march little boy!

Larty74 · 06/03/2011 10:10

Congrats to you Carrie on your little and the first boy on this thread!

I may not be far behind as I'm pretty sure my waters have gone.....keep u posted

superpenguin · 06/03/2011 10:15

Hey, congratulations carrie on having the first boy on the list! :) what a good size baby! so glad the birth went well too, gives me hope as I think mine may be on the large side too!

and good luck larty ! :)

niamh29 · 06/03/2011 10:30

Good luck Larty, hope it all goes well!

highlandbird · 06/03/2011 10:30

1Catherine1 you are so organised with your meals, I meant to do that but now I just can't be bothered find the time to be honest! And I know how you feel about not being able to see past the pregnancy, I find it really hard to imagine this little person in my life, although after a couple of weeks I'm told it'll be as though he / she has always been there.

Spaceal great to hear you're both doing well!

CarrieBadshaw congratulations, the first boy on here, and sounds like your labour went great!

Good luck Larty

Well, we got excited on Fri evening / sat morning when I started getting painful BH, more like proper contractions and fairly regular with backache....and then it all faded away to nothing! Even made a hot curry last night and ate a whole pineapple but feel even less like something is going to happen today, ah well, back to watching the old kettle then! Don't think I've lost my mucous plug (eww!) yet although have been getting bit more discharge than normal, and I dreamt last night about trying to burst an enormous water balloon Hmm
Hope you all have a lovely sunday, I got bored of waiting for nothing yesterday and got the sewing machine out, made some bunting for the nursery...I think today I'll mostly be eating biscuits :)

doubleshotlatte · 06/03/2011 11:17

Ooh Carrie how lovely, a water birth, and the first boy too. That is sooo encouraging. Was it hospital or home?

Here's hoping I get to have my water birth and cuddle my baby boy soon.

They want to do a scan of bubs tomorrow, have a feeling ultrasound person won't be able to fit him all in on their monitor Grin

Purplefan · 06/03/2011 11:21

Congrats for the new mums and arrivals. How exciting to see the first boy arrive too!!

Good luck Larty sounds like things are happening for you! Smile

I had MW apt yesterday, had to go to the hospital for a clinic as my own MW couldn't fit me in!! Shock all ok, baby head down but not engaged, heart beat regular etc. The only thing is I was told that I have high platelets... she didn't seem over concerned, but has anyone any experience of this?

That is all I have to report... keep them babies coming!! x

Medee · 06/03/2011 11:36

Congratulations Carrie!

ckny1 · 06/03/2011 12:12

Congratulations, Carrie and little (big) (first) boy!!!!! Wonderful that the birth went as planned, and on the date, wow!

Larty hope you're cuddling with your LO already.

Purplefan, my bloods have come back last few times with low platelets, but consultant also wasn't concerned with levels, so hopefully all is fine as we are still in an acceptable range (though it would be nice to know if there is anything to make it right).

DH allowed (!) me to sleep past 10 today, bless.

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Muser · 06/03/2011 12:49

Congratulations Carrie, what an amazing story and a big boy. Well done.

1Catherine1 · 06/03/2011 13:29

Congrats Carrie and good luck Larty... looks like the boys are ready to start rolling in :)

Hope you all have a relaxing Sunday - I'm feeling a little flu-y but keep telling myself it must be a cold since I had the flu jab!! Obviously I'm ignoring the possibility of a strain of flu I wasn't vaccinated against. Hopefully it will go away soon! Hmm

haloflo · 06/03/2011 16:51

Congrats to Jen, Irishqueen, Spaceal and CarrieB - I hope you are enjoying your first few days.

Spaceal - I hope your recovery is quick and Carrie very reassuring story, thank you for sharing.

Best of luck larty

highlandgirl I've seen your posts on childbirth - I hope your baby gets a move on soon. Much be very frustrating to think it's going to happen only for it to slow down.

catherine Hope you feel better soon. I am very impressed with your cooking. I've just picked up a few extras for the freezer each time we have been shopping.

38 weeks today. I have had a few more BH's over the past few days and occasional back pain which feels like my period is starting but otherwise nothing. Was 2/5 palpable at last MW check. Am I right in thinking that even first babies don't always fully engage until labour?

Early days yet though, I feel for you overdue ladies. Anyone due at the end of the month, don't worry I'm sure I'll still be here as they are generally happy for women to get to 40+12 in my area which takes me into April.

Anyway best get back to "helping" DP build the nursery furniture. It's so exciting seeing the room come together.

1Catherine1 · 06/03/2011 17:14

Haloflo my mum informs me that with her first my brother didn't engage at all until 2 hours before labour started. Hope you don't hold on until 40+12, you'll be cutting it close for being spoilt on Mother's Day! Grin I have already told my OH my expectations for my first Mother's Day as a mother - after 9 months I deserve a spoiling!

Again been a busy bunny today. Today I cleaned the inside of the car, cleaned all the windows of the car and fit the easybase and car seat in the back. Also organised the boot of the car so there is an obvious spot for my hospital bag and baby bag which I will take down just as soon as I have washed my warmest dressing gown. :) Check out my organisation! For me this is super good! Then LO just has to hang on till my car has been repaired (booked in tomorrow) and we're all set for her!

Now... there's the issue of the work I get paid to do... I guess I should start that in preparation for my last week. :(

haloflo · 06/03/2011 17:42

Mothers day is my birthday so I refuse to still be waiting then. I (rather selfishly) don't want to share my birthday!

Larty74 · 06/03/2011 18:08

Waters definitely gone, been to see MW and if contractions don't start by 7:00 am tomorrow, it's off to hopsital for induction. And nothing so far so just chilling out at home, went for a walk, had a shower and about to have roast chicken dinner with the fam and see what happens! Hmm

Medee · 06/03/2011 18:20

ooh, Larty, how exciting!

CarrieBadshaw · 06/03/2011 18:23

Exciting - sounds like there will be some more babies arriving very soon. My little man is called Theo, he was born in a midwife led birth centre, can't praise the staff highly enough.

Good luck Larty!

Unfortunately things are not so good today. Had the first midwife visit at home today, she diagnosed jaundice so sent us off to hospital. At the hospital they diagnosed Theo with low blood sugar and have admitted us both for the night to monitor feeding. It is awful being away from Mr Badshaw, fingers crossed we escape tomorrow...

jeffily · 06/03/2011 19:14

good luck Larty I'll be thinking of you. Hope that you do start naturally and don't need induction. Exciting to think that your LO will be here tomorrow, by hook or by crook!

Hope you are bearing up ok in hospital carrie. I hated being away from Mr J and DD1 too when I was in, but the time goes by and then you will all be together again. And you are in the right place for them to keep an eye on Theo (love the name!) at least you won't be worrying about him at home with no one to ask. hope you get some sleep.

hope everyone else is good. leila cluster feeding for britian...

x

Jupiter118 · 06/03/2011 19:26

Larty v exciting - hope it goes smoothly. If they do induce walk lots as fast as you can in hosp corridors I am sure this sped up my induction with DS.

Carrie hugs to you. Ask the midwives for help if you need to and hope Theo is better and that you get some sleep.

Off for some pineapple raspberry leaf and frantic bouncing on gym ball!!

EvianBaby · 06/03/2011 19:32

Hi everyone!

jeffily you and Leila sound like you're doing fab! You sound like you're managing really well with 2 children, I'll be taking my inspiration from you when the time comes!

larty how exciting!! Lots of love and luck for tonight/tomorrow! We'll all be thinking of you. I'll be looking out for the announcement! Wishing you a speedy and enjoyable (!) labour!

Hope everyone else is feeling ok. catherine you will be so grateful after your baby's arrival for your preparation regarding food in the freezer! I wish I had time/energy to stock our freezer, good in you!

I seem to be spending all of my spare time cleaning, tidying, ironing, moving furniture. For some unexplained reason it seems really important to me to come home to an immaculate house. I'm sure this baby really won't mind! I'm also trying to spend as much time as possible with my lovely DS. I'm very aware I'm about to change life as he knows it very shortly... We've had a few farm trips and days just spent playing with his favourite toys, puzzles and books.

Sunday night already, I wonder what the week will bring? Love and labour vibes to everyone!

EvianBaby · 06/03/2011 19:37

Oh I actually came on to say huge congratulations to carrie I absolutely love your choice of name! Try not to worry too much about Theo, he's in the best place and hopefully you'll be home tomorrow. Take care x x

KPidgeon · 06/03/2011 20:24

Congratulations Carrie I hope you can both get home soon. Lovely name too.

Thinking of you Larty. Lovely getting so many updates on here now!

Spent the day with two little babies (our friends kids) 5 months and 7 months. Sooo sweet and expressive. Can't wait to meet my little one. Still guzzling the raspberry leaf tea. 37 weeks today so not quite time to down the pineapple!

Evian I'm the same. I think it's the thought of coming back from the hospital with a tiny baby to a messy house- can't cope with that so am on a tidying/cleaning frenzy every day!

JoJoB77 · 06/03/2011 20:26

Congratulations Carrie! Lovely name too for your little big man.

I have a question ladies, hope you can help me out as all this is completely new to me.

I've just been to the loo for a wee and after wiping saw a tiny blood clot on the paper. It was very small but still noticeable. I've been losing watery/browny coloured discharge today but that's nothing new as I've always had a lot of discharge throughout, it's just the bloody bit I'm unsure about. Could it be the mucus plug? Baby is very active today, is pushing right now onto my cervix it feels, and I have a slight backache...

Any ideas?

Kagey · 06/03/2011 20:28

Congratulations to Spaceal and Carrie and the first boy of the group!

Good luck Larty too!

me23 · 06/03/2011 21:25

congrats Carrie and good luck larty
