strangeways you must be going mad by now- I can't believe it has been 4 weeks for you that you have been having niggles!

We are in a chaos of boxes and DH is driving me nuts cos he is back for the weekend and interfering in all my systems and doing things like putting CD's in boxes clearly marked 'toys and books' and making boxes so ludicrously heavy that you would need to be He-man to pick them up. I'm just going to have to wait till he has gone back down to the w country and un-do it all! Then he just had the neck to say "I thought we were packing!?" when I sat down for 2 minutes to MN. I've been packing all blinking morning while he has been lying on the sofa mentioning how tired he is constantly! Grrrr. (but in an affectionate way- I know he is tired and I am still bonkers on the hormones so feel ok despite being up with Leila 4 times last night)

Guess I should get back to it now though. Lovely to catch up with everyone's news.

Lol strangeways ! Luckily haven't panicked or freaked out... Yet!

Had a v rough night as a mouse got caught in a trap in bedroom (my midnight snacks maybe shouldn't be in bed...) - but didn't die.. I'm a complete wuss and couldn't deal with it so eventually tried (not very successfully) - to sleep on the sofa (dh is still away).

Can't believe the day I've been waiting for for nine months is finally here - and nothing happening... Oh well, only 5% come on due date so I should have known...Just keep thinking it's only a week till I'm induced - if nothing happens earlier - so end is in sight.

Have a great weekend everyone - am looking forward to more news (and some boys!). There is a theory that if men are hot (temperature not looks!) then they have girls - guess we all conceived in June so maybe that's why there aren't any boys yet?!?

That's an interesting thought NowPanic, we conceived in a cool tent in St Ives and I'm having a boy!

NowPanic - I have mice too, ick! Am cross because thought had got rid of them. Yesterday cleaned whole kitchen thoroughly and washed up everything (dishwasher on blink), and then went to get Dominos pizza and chicken wings for dinner so as not to make any more washing up. Left the bones from the chicken wings on the worktop - this morning, mice had carried bones right around the worktop to the other end of the kitchen! Have frantically set traps in v bloodthirsty mood. I have to have got rid of the mice before midwives and health visitors and numerous relatives start trooping through the house, which could happen any day now!

No baby signs yet - I wish my mucus plug would go, because then at least something would be happening! Pregnancy insomnia and SPD driving me mad - also, my fingers swell up every time I get hot. Lovely.

There are so many girls on here that I'm starting to worry that mine will turn out to be a boy, despite what the sonographer said at 20 weeks! Have bought far too many pink things to have a boy now.

THanks for the happy due date messages! i was sinking that solemnly to myself this morning. Had a lovely chilled day as my wonderful parents tooks the 2 older girls for a sleepover last night, so we've just had 15mth old dd3 to occupy us. I've had a very long bath, and a doze on the sofa! Kept thinking about going for a walk to get things going but thats as far as i got .

Tell me about mucous plugs you guys. Are they blood stained? I was convinced they were always blood (at least thats what i remember of mine just before the start of each labour). I have been passing the most unpleasant discharge which is stringy like snot! I think this is normal - there's no smell or anything, but just massive quantities . Anyone else had the same?

Tooimmature - I thought I'd got rid of the mice too! Was infested in September and scrubbed / moved / binned everything - and no sign of them since. I had even forgotten this trap was still out. Next door has just started major building works so think they've moved back to us for a bit of peace and quiet!

Hattie looks like we're both going to miss our due date! Glad you're having a nice relaxing day - think that's what we all need right now. As you asked... my mucus plug had no blood - I did a google at 5am and seems they don't always. Mine was a large lump (size of £2 coin) of clear / off white snot that went "plop" as it fell down the loo (sorry if tmi!). From what I read they sometimes come out whole, sometimes in dribs and drabs like you described and sometimes not until you're in full blown labour. Some women never see it at all... Hope that helps.

Mucous plug - another grim discussion you wish you could have in RL but can't...

Lost mine 3 weeks ago at 34+4 and it was like that clear creamy brown jelly that surrounds a pork pie streaked with brown/ red period like blood. Two lots - first bit about size of 2 50pences and second bit a little bit smaller. Pretty grim tbh never saw it with DS (possibly as was induced and all happened rather quickly). Have several smaller bits in the meantime.

Have 'yomped' round the park with DH and DS to encourage gravity to do it's work - nothing but more hideous BHs. Going to a 40th later as staying in and doing nothing feels like watching a kettle boil.

Trying to persuade DH to DTD, but he is not keen;-( nor am I tbh, but willing to give it a go in the circumstances

Hattie - I'm going to make a curry tonight to test the theory! DH is working abroad but primed to dash asap when something happens. My mum came with me to an ante natal class and pointed out there were some labour "encouragents" she really couldn't help with!!!

Re mouse: am afraid I couldn't deal with its squeals at 4.30am and I hid so don't know how long it took to die - did feel bad but there was no way I could have finished it off. This morning I got rid of it and it had been caught by the head so would guess it was pretty quick. I hope for the mouse's sake it was - causing a slow painful death for any creature is not something I want to do.

mixedmama and superpenguin another baby boy expected here. Apparently boys arrive later than girls... DH has been getting all sorts of folksy wisdom from his (normally) techie colleagues.

Another one goes- more babies are born around full moons - well, DD was born the day after a new moon! Yesterday was a new moon. So I was eagerly tracking any contractions today, but they were just BH, more frequent and intense than usual

Waiting does strange things to my mood...

Been thinking how weird it is that someone so pro-medicalisation pro-CS and pro-epidurals-for-everyone-who-wants-it, I'm reduced to begging for a water birth. Because without one I'll get no pain relief at all (long story) . If you'd told me a few months ago this is what my birth plan would be, I'd say you were crazy (then run to my consultant and ask for an elcs)...

but there you go...

Evening ladies.

I was hoping for more baby news especially for those overdue! There's always tomorrow. I've spent the day cooking. Thought since I'm leaving ML so late I should have the prepared food prepared before ML sets in so I've made 12 meals to freeze - unfortunately the smell of the Shepherds Pie was too tempting so only 11 made it to the freezer. I still want baby to hold off though as my 11 meals currently are made up of 5x bolegnase, 3x curry and 3x Shepherds Pie. I think I need to widen the choice before I'm forced to live off it.

Hoping this next week passes quickly for me as I've really had enough of work - feeling unappreciated .

I don't think the reality of what is about to happen to my life has really hit yet, tried to get my head around it all but strangely I just can't see past the end of the pregnancy.

Have just got DH to dig his fingers into my ankles as advised by this woman. That's the first link I ever tried - did it work? The trouble is, neither of us has any idea whether or not he was hitting the right place. So far, no contractions.

I just read that 1 in 5 women in the UK are induced - this seems incredibly high to me! I know I can refuse it if I want to...not sure I want to, though! By that time I might be climbing the walls. Really hoping it will become a moot point.

Baby has definitely grown again in the last few days - heartburn has returned with a bang and stretchmarks have spread upwards, grr! Hopefully that was a last growth spurt before the birth .

Evening. All going well here but still in hospital just while we get the little one to really work out the breastfeeding. She's getting there but so small it's all a bit hard work. All the docs, midwives, nursery nurses etc are amazing, incredibly supportive.

I'm recovering well, so whilst I wouldn't recommend an EMCS (!) and it was very scary at the time, it's not been a horrendous experience since.

Well the mw came this afternoon, talked lots over adn was very lovely. I wimped out of the sweep, just giving myself a bit longer. She knows I want to avoid induction and explained I could have daily monitoring instead as long as things didn't get silly! THe disappointed was that while bubs has been engaged for over three weeks now, today they were nowhere near . I have images of the baby swimming about in there, doing a bit of backstroke, sipping a cocktail, with no intention of going anywhere . I know this isn't unusual for third babies, but it still feels like a bit of a blow. So another week of waiting and the homebirth should be okay unless I need inducing or go too far over 42 weeks.

Omg just found an article on baby centre saying that there is some research showing that oral sex may work to bring on labour as prostaglandins may be better absorbed thru your stomach. Bet that research was carried out by a bloke! I am SO not telling DH!!!!

Will be 3 days over tomorrow.... Would be nice to have the first little boy arrive!

spaceal Glad to find that you are all OK after the drama of an EMCS. Good luck with BFing! I confess to feeling a twinge of envy since I had DS at 39w and as a result are more pregnant than I have ever been!

as for induction I am trying to persuade DH for a 'hands free' sweep if you get what I mean. Failing that there is always pinapple...

I do not relish the prospect that I could have another 2 weeks of being this round. Even 3 hours of frantic carpet scrubbing didnt do anything!

Hi all, well I have not been the most active poster on the March thread but have been reading with interest.

Congratulations to all the ladies who have delivered so far, hope you are all enjoying your gorgeous babies.

I gave birth to my utterly beautiful little boy on Friday morning, on his due date! For a first baby he was huge, weighing 10lbs! The birth went according to plan - a water birth with gas and air and despite his huge size I managed to do the job with just a graze and no stitches! Omg, labour was tough though.

I am absolutely loving being a mum and looking after my little big man. Congrats again to those with new arrivals and wish everyone else speedy deliveries.

Oh and on the mucus plug question, I started losing mine and having 'false' (but incredibly painful) contractions from Wednesday morning. It was thinner than I expected, like egg yolk and ranged from pinkish to fairly bloody over the two days before I went into 'proper' labour.

Oh my goodness! Congratulations Carrie What a whopper well done you!! Hoorah our first boy!!! Do we have a name?
