Congratulation from all fellow Novemberers to our dear Rodeo and Nova...

...Welcoming baby Jess & baby Natalie to the world and here's to the rest of us having healthy little babies......

Awwwwww!

Who is next then?!?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
karmamother · 29/10/2005 11:27

Rodeo, you poor thing. Are you drinking enough? I know migraines aren't the same as normal headaches but if you are a bit dehydrated might your migraine be worse? You do need to have a good drink with every bf. Oops, I can't remember if you're bfing, bit presumptious there!!

Re dirty knickers, I've got some disposable ones for the first couple of days so I can just rip them off. Having said that, I imagine they're not terribly comfortable so we shall see.

Wonder how Londoner is? She should surely have birthed by now?????

karmamother · 29/10/2005 11:29

Rodeo....me too!!!! I've always thought Dom was a fine specimen!! Worth sitting through the programme for.

novadandypowder · 29/10/2005 11:49

rodeo - also watching tv and i'm with you on the mcfly boy

re towels: i'm using always now, but tbh it was quite nice having the thick cushiony pads for the first 5 days as it makes sitting down a bit more comfy. I also bled through two futon thick pads at a time for the first 24 hours.

re disposable pants: i found these to be a bit loose and made me leak, was much more comfortable to use the cheap cotton pants i got to throw away (although am still using some of them )

someone on here said about having a jug of water with lavender and tea tree oil in it next to the toilet to use each time you go, and i have to say this is a really good thing to do.

Diege · 29/10/2005 12:34

Afternoon all!
A few minutes respite from whiny dds while DH takes them to Morrisons for a 'snack box'! Feeling quite nauseaous and very irritable, not helped I'm sure by copious amounts of M&S white mountain bar consumed this morning (hand over mouth over sink in case my two jailors saw me!). Having one of those panic days when I'm overwhelmed by the thought of having to cope with 3 under 5, and at the same time aware that the washing basket has won, and there's no way it will be empty now before bubs arrives! Had panic buy in M&S yesterday when I realised that 0-3 months snow suits are not something baby will be wearing to take home from hossy, so bought a smaller, lighter suit for first month or so. They do an 'up to one month'size, which still looks quite big, but couldn't bring myself to buy newborn!.
LOL Jenjam re: hedge ; I'm contemplating wax after 'lunges' attempted with razor in the bath, which resulted in patchy leopard skin effect. BTW, offered it to DH on a plate last night (after 9 months of avoiding it, well doing the minimum IYSWIM! )and he looked at me with an expression of panic, saying 'err, what do you want to do?...can we leave it till Sunday !!The cheek of it! Well that's his last chance gone now for at least 16 years!! I suppose I didn't look the most seductive with my fleas bites, stained t-shirt and greasy hair look going on! Even so...
Good to hear from you Enthusia, you seem back to your cheerful self!
Thinking of Londoner too!!!
Diege, 37+6

ChaCha · 29/10/2005 12:39

Good morning ladies,

How is everyone today? Are you talking about TV presenters btw? The names ring a bell from kids talk at school - I haven't a clue.

Nova - Any specific amounts of lavendar/tea tree oil that should be put into the water? I use a water jug anyway and carry a small bottle of water around too when out, we have to for cleanliness/ablution but the oils in the water sound like a great idea. Never thought of that.

As for 'lady gardens' as Nova so eloquently puts it in her posts, I prefer bare so have no worries in that department, cleaner IMHO.

Mum is set to leave tomorrow night so back on my own again. Having mum here with DP limits the time we can spend together so think we're agreed that the next visit will be the nearer the birth and on her own although do feel bad that he can't come but it's okay isn't it?

karmamother · 29/10/2005 15:06

Afternoon all,

Diege, what a gorgeous sight, can't imagine why he turned you down!!

About the jug of water with oils in, its a great idea but I have an additional suggestion. A jug sounds a bit messy so I wondered if one of those indoor plant watering cans with a long thin spout might mean you can direct the flow onto the right area.

Well, I'm off to B&Q to get some testers for the living room. Why do we always give ourselves additional work, just when we should be resting? DP & I are totally redecorating the lounge, stairs & landing so I guess that's next week taken up. I don't really want to stretch up a ladder, nor do I want to be sitting on the floor (once down there, I can't get up) so I think I'll be painting the middle bit!! Sounds fair, don't you think??

Hope to hear that Londoner has delivered next time I log on, fingers crossed.

beartime · 29/10/2005 16:06

Hey you're not even s'posed to paint really are you when you're pregnant! That's how I got out of painting the bathroom anyway

novadandypowder · 29/10/2005 17:14

Chacha - I also prefer a bare lady garden, however I can't get my bits waxed again until the locia stops and it's driving me crazy!! I'm reluctant to start shaving again as I'd only just got the waxing to really start taking effect. Boo - I wonder if they'll do an 'edges with pants on' only?? It's amazing how far out it reaches...

I use 3 drops of lavender and 3 drops of tea tree, but it is pretty potent essential oil. You can also use it in the bath.

Oh - and whoever said to get the biggest pot of hand cream you can was sooooo right, you will never wash your hands so many times again, and they get all dry.

twinkle1 · 29/10/2005 17:39

good evening all
Well i spent tue-fri night in hospital
but the good news is my pain is better controlled now mind you it should be on tramadol!!! i had quite a bit of pethidine in hosp by heck its good stuff C/section is still on for 11 nov. Arghhhh thats only 13 days away, its getting very real now.congrats to the new parents his name sounds lovely.I hope everyone else is feeling ok.
I had to laugh at all your posts about waxing/brazillians etc!!!! I have to admit i have bought some wax strips and am going to let dh loose with them just before i go in for section,he thinks it will be hillarious
so im taking it easy and the kids go back to school on mon so life should be a bit easier.

KristinaM · 29/10/2005 18:20

twinkle - so glad you are Ok - was worried about you were you in 3 nights just to control your pain? Must be pretty serious. At least its better managed now....

tessasmum · 29/10/2005 20:09

WELL DONE BEKS and family and welcome to Thomas. What does Ben think now?

Not so sure about half-hourly updates from homebirthers!! We'll see when we get there.
However I did spend most of the first stage of labour last time on the computer doing some mundane thing I'd been putting off for ages so you never know. Got me to 9cm in 2 1/2 hours so must have done some good

Twinkle - have you ever let your DH loose down there with wax strips before? If not I'm not sure now is the right time, feeling you might let him do one strip and that will be it. Mind you if you can put up with the rib pain it may not be too bad!

Busy - every right to be a proud mummy. I would have been throwing a tantrum if I'd had to wait that long so well done Alex. About the weight, b**y doctors. If you don't think you've put much on then that's whats important. Think I've put on about 2 1/2-3 stone, same as last time. Not too sure where it all is though as bump is pretty neat and some kind friend told me she couldn't tell I was pg from behind (then again maybe she thinks my bum is always this big) Anyway I lost it all, and then some, whilst scoffing even more than when I was pg - one of my recommendations for bf

SharonTW · 29/10/2005 20:20

Hi everyone, hope you're all well and welcome to the new babies , pc been away as been decorating , sounds like we're all at it.
Getting lots of twinges but still nearly 3 weeks left !!!
Heartburn really crippling me too !
Going to look on arrivals thread now and catch up x x

karmamother · 29/10/2005 21:31

Evening,

just back from taking ds to see Sky High at the cinema....usual kiddy tosh.

Twinkle1, at last you've got some decent analgesia. How are you tolerating the tramadol? They'll definately take the sting out of your dh's waxing foray! I've been letting dp mow my lawn, as it were, & that was bad enough.

Tessasmum, your weight gain sounds like mine. The bump is getting neater every week & my weight is now static since I've been on this diabetic diet. I also ate like a pig whilst I bf, used to keep 10 mars bars in my locker to snack on at work, had butter on my toast & double cream in my coffee. Loved every bloody minute. Thats probably why I bf for 17 months!!!

ChaCha · 29/10/2005 23:47

Just checking in before bed to see if there are any more announcements. Don't forget to set your clocks back too!

Karma - I have a jug in my bathroom that's very much like a watering can. You might have seen them in Saudi but perhaps their loos are already equipped. Very lightweight and plastic, you can find them in certain Asian stores. Think we got ours somewhere in Birmingham.

Nighty night all x

karmamother · 30/10/2005 00:06

Nighty night, Chacha. In response to your post, in Saudi the women tended to use their hands to scoop water onto themselves or used the bidets. From watching them I learned how to scoop a huge amount of water with one hand....!!!

Obviously no-one has birthed today, let see what tomorrow brings.

Laylasmum · 30/10/2005 09:04

Congratulations to beksmum and londoner! and good luck laylasmum. All these births are making me nervous!

All is well here, head is fully engaged and I have been measuring 40 weeks since week 37! starting to get some rib pain now that there is no room left but nothing compared to twinkle!

I have only just packed my hospital bag, I always leave everything till the last minute. Baby can't come till Tuesday as the car seat does not arrive till then

I bought a lovely nursing bra the other day from figleaves. Its an elle mcpherson la mere and is very pretty and comfy compared to the awful things they sell in mothercare etc. Sorry I can't do links but if you go to boots.com and do a shop search for figleaves then the page should come up. I bought through boots so I could get the extra points!

Will keep checking for more births its getting exciting now!
