also with my aunts first..she would be in tears at not cleaning..my uncle is a real pedant when it comes to the house..i.e he'll make sure very cup in the cupboard has the handle facing the same way..
the first day she did find time to clean he came home and told her off for not resting so she was muc hmore relaxed afterthat

Diege · 28/10/2005 17:49

Good luck Londoner! Kristina is right - we expect nothing less than live half-hourly updates!
Welcome Pogface . When are you due?
Been scratching legs all afternoon, and have just discovered about 30 flea bites from cat. In agony!!Think they must be from stray over road who pops in every day, as I have used frontline on ours - just something else to complain about!!
Whinge whinge..

Just checking in for the evening.

Very excited about Londoner....wonder how she's progressing? Lets hope it's a quick one for her.

After this morning's excursion to the cattle market, I mean antenatal clinic, I was soooo exhausted I had to have a nap this afternoon. I had DS with me as it's half term & he was looking forward to hearing the FH but sadly the consultant used the Pinard's.

Chacha, sorry to hear about your friend. I went through a similar thing as my 2 hrly breastfeeding son kept me glued to the house & more specfically, to the sofa. I started to resent it but, looking back, it made me rest. If he'd been a 4 hrly feeder with a good sleep in between chances are I'd have been wearing myself out with housework. Tell her that it's such a small amount in her baby's life & she should cherish it as it she'll soon be onto the next stage....weaning!!!!

Pogface & BoB, I've been rubbing in The Body Shop sweet almond oil religiously since the early days. I do have stretch marks on my boobs & legs but thankfully none on my tum!!! Does the bio oil smell nice? I've just run out of oil so I might get some of it.

Diege, just remembered, must must must de-flea & de-worm my cat. Thanks for the reminder!

Hiya all I am back

Congratulations Beks - Wow, I am soooo jealous, plus you've taken one of our names for a boy (won't tell you which one yet though )

Go Londoner, thinking of you!!!!!!!!

Also wow to Bob and Jenjam, was in Costa Coffee when got ChaCha's texts about your show's got really excited and was grinning insanly to myself - got loads of looks from old grannys, sure they thought I was an insane PG woman !!!!

Have scanned the MANY messages since I went away but not read properly, so hope I don't miss people out!!

Twinkle - hope all is going well for you and that they do agree to move your c-section date. You have been a star for carrying on this long with everything!

Nova - great advice about bedding and bottles etc, will probably need some more bedding, but went for the pillow cases in the end for the moses baskets as I couldn't get sheets to fit anyway!

Golden - the bottles Avent make for Asda, do they fit on the breastpump do you know??????

ChaCha - glad to hear you so happy and chirpy, sounds like your mum has done you the world of good!!!!!

Right as for me, well still here with bump! If i get anymore contractiony type pains, or sickness, or diarrhoea, or mad cleaning moments, or mad hormonal moments I am going to scream!!!!!! Still getting all of these but they are coming to nothing. Some of the pains now take my breath away, but I have one, maybe two and then just a dull ache and then NOTHING!!!!! Am slowly going mad with anticipation!!!!

Manchester etc, was good, did not do as much walking and rested a lot as was really tired. But it was nice not being away from DH. Am now wondering whther that stress is over whether anything will happen in the labour department!!!!!

Right am feeling a little whoozy as just had a small glass of wine (am now a serious lightweight) so am going to go and watch tv! Will catch up on all news later.

Sorry to anyone I missed out

38 weeks today!!!!!!!!!

Enthusia · 28/10/2005 19:45

Oh and thank you to all of you out there asking after me! Made me feel all mushy!!!

Oh and Rodeo - Jess is GORGEOUS - another jealous moment coming on so wil definitly go now!!!!

beartime · 28/10/2005 20:12

JenJam, did you find out if your waters have broken? I'm going to race you to giving birth since we are only a day different EDD and both first timers!

The bathroom's painted now and everything back so DH said baby can come now!

Whoever said about putting a muslin under the baby's head for spitting up - is that OK with all the SIDS risks etc. to have something that might bunch up underneath him?

I feel funny posting on here when you all know each other so well, so I hope you don't mind!

karmamother · 28/10/2005 20:23

Beartime, I've only been on here since September & the Nov ladies are a very friendly bunch. In fact, all Mners have been fab & a great resource.

Don't think muslin under baby would be a problem. The main thing, it seems, is to avoid over heating which is where putting the baby at the foot of the cot comes from. As long as the blankets don't go over baby's head, I'm sure a muslin square under is ok. Remember that newborns don't wriggle that much & hopefully the spitting up stage ends by the time they can move around. HTH.

beartime · 28/10/2005 20:44

Oh OK - I guess I don't know anything about babies - never been around them much so I'm guessing and reading as much as I can!

JenJam · 28/10/2005 20:45

i didn't go to hospital in the end as wasn't leaking anymore stuff throughout day...met my mum and traipsed aroudn oxford street for 10 hours instead. Just back home. and got an elephant's ankles

Wierd things happened today. As part of fooling myself that i could retain some kind of dignity during the birth i got an 'almost brazilian' bikini waxing + a bit extra off the front in case of c-section, I do this about twice a year, usually before a beach holiday, and the rest of the year i live with a hedge mainly because having it done brings me out in a sweat, makes my eyes water and makes me swear out loud. However today it was no problemo! in fact i challenged olga (the no-nonsense russian waxer) to "take more off" - hell, do my inner labia! hope this is not tmi.

Then, at the dentist, where i'm usually a wimp wincing and jumping as tho' electrically shocked whenever they use the descaler thing. but today i hardly jumped at all, not even on the back teeth which i'm embarrrased to say can get 'dogs teeth' in colour....

Anyhow the upshot of all this is my body MUST producing pain relieving endorphins!!!! hallejuah!! and i have a great big sparkly smile and could feel proud in a bikini. I'm feelin'great

Londoner - i'm very excited for you. you might even have your baby in your arms right now...hope you are well.

Golden monday is good for me. i don't have your mobile - could you cat me it.

Time for dinner, will log on again over weekend to agree plan for mon, and to find out who has had a visit from the stork, Jen

JenJam · 28/10/2005 20:47

p.s. beartime - you're not alone - i don't know anything about babies either....bit worrying really that after the birth they will let me take him home

rodeo1 · 28/10/2005 21:15

Ooh I wonder if Londoner's baby's been born?!

Tips on bedding - My sis got Jess a Miracle Blanket from Mothercare which she loves. Just a swaddling blanket really, she looks like a little bug or sausage in it!

Jenjam - you are funny! Glad you're feeling so well!

Enthusia Welcome back

KristinaM · 28/10/2005 21:26

Jenjam - cant believe you are thinking about your " lady garden" - hey whatever rocks your boat!!!

where is twinkle - do you think she might have some news??

karmamother · 28/10/2005 21:36

That reminds me....must hunt out my strimmer. Nothing worse than a large bush when you're producing copious amounts of lochia. IME its the academic types that are content to leave all bodily hair intact. Yeuch.

(sorry if that sweeping statement has offended anyone)

beartime · 28/10/2005 21:39

Can u give me some of those endorphins pleeeeese! I sat down at the computer for a few hours today and when I got up I could hardly walk - took me about 10 mins to get to the bed next door and i was totally out of breath cos of the back pain (or rather butt pain ). It's weird tho cos it's only after I've been sitting down. And the baby was the right way round last check-up.

I think they need to make you get a university degree in babies b4 you can take them home when you look at all the stuff you're supposed to know - don't do this, do do this etc. And then when I try and ask a question about something people just tell me 'go with the flow' 'your instincts will kick in' - aargh.

beartime · 28/10/2005 21:45

I just read somewhere that you MUST get maternity pads for after birth rather than normal ones cos normal ones aren't absorbent enough - is that really true? I was just going to use Tesco night ones with wings.

Busyalexsmummy · 28/10/2005 21:50

? I just used packets and packets of always nighttime

Busyalexsmummy · 28/10/2005 22:03

Had my cons appt today, one of the registras didnt turn up for clinic and so there were about 30 pregnant women sat hot and bothered in the stuffy waiting room! I arrived at 1.50pm and didnt leave till 5pm!!
Anyhow, scan apparently fine, they think baby is currently 6.6lb...he doesnt think it'll be as big as ds was...sees no reason to induce......and told me "you've put alot of weight on".....oh really(honestly thought I was ok )..."yes a few stone"...oh(cant really see what the big deal is, was 10st 8lb at 12 weeks, now 12st 5lb...is that giagantic??)
told that yet again I have poly....(cant think of the bloomin word)-copius amounts of amniotic fluid.....babys head engaged a little more, now 2/5ths .......he didnt give a monkeys about spd pain(even though he was very sympathectic when i saw him earlier in the yr)......

anybody else had a growth scan?
measurements were:
FL 6.90cm
HC 33.70cm
AC 30.50cm
LV 164mm

anyone who knows what any of that means, please share...!

Liz 36+6

Busyalexsmummy · 28/10/2005 22:05

Good luck by the way Londoner! let us know!

karmamother · 28/10/2005 22:25

BAM, thought my clinic appointment was bad!! Phew, what a nightmare.

The readings mean this...FL is femur length (thigh)
HC is head circumference
AC is abdomen circumference
LV is liquor volume (amniotic fluid).

Get a tape measure & use it to see what these measurements really look like. The scary one is the head circumference...you may not want to know what that one looks like!!!!

Your polyhydramnios will undoubtledly be making your spd worse, poor thing. And of course, it will be the reason you've put this weight on. However, I don't think it's a huge amount. I've put 2 & a half stone on but I couldn't be described as enormous IYSWIM.

On the subject of pads...I find the covering on the Always ones a bit plastic & I feel I sweat down below with them so I don't think I'll be using them. I've got some maternity pads but only because they were on special offer at Mothercare.

karmamother · 28/10/2005 22:26

I was guessing about the LV being liqour volume but as its measured in mm, I might be wrong.

beartime · 29/10/2005 05:00

I think I'll carry on with my Tesco's ones then. Sorry about the time (couldn't sleep).

My friend said she put on 2 stone while pregnant and then lost 3 stone breastfeeding, so I wouldn't worry too much about the weight - plus extra fluid probably contributes anyway doesn't it?

I plotted my measurements on the graph in the pregnancy notes since no-one else was doing them. I did it with a pencil just in case someone else wanted to have a go! But if you put them in on the graphs then you can see what is above or below average for that time of gestation - mine has a big belly, a small brain and long legs!

goldenoldie · 29/10/2005 07:27

Morning all.

Enthusia - can't answer you question on the bottles - sorry.

JenJam - I will give you a ring over the weekend to arrange lunch on Monday.

Busyalexsmummy · 29/10/2005 09:41

ughh, feel rotton this am, spd is killing and I feel sick...
Still cant get over how good ds was yesterday( i went on my own wih ds as dp couldnt get time off again-my fault) I thought with all the waiting around he would start playing up+especially as the bus was really late, but he was superb[proud mummy!]

Hes turned really really into mummys boy this last week or so-really huggy+kissy! wonder if he knows whats going on??

any news of londoner?

37 Weeks today hoorah!

rodeo1 · 29/10/2005 11:16

Morning ladies!

Terrible night here! Not due to baby mind - although she was wide awake from 5 til 7.30 this morning - I got the most terrible migraine - visual disturbances, pins and needles, and thought my head was going to crack open! And I was sick twice! Urgh - feel like poo this morning!

Karma - was about to say the same thing about Always! They make me feel sweaty too - the Bodyform nighttime are much nicer IMO! Urgh, felt so disgusting in hospital - I needed a catheter in for 48 hours and was just leaking blood everywhere! Went for a shower with catheter and drain still in and couldn't manage to get my dirty knickers off for about 20 minutes - they were just tangled with all the various tubes! Sorry - foul I know!

rodeo1 · 29/10/2005 11:20

Just watching Sat morning TV - And realised I've developed a crush on Danny from McFly AND Dom from Dick and Dom fame. Must be my hormones - well I'll blame them anyway.....
