TWINKLE

just did a quick search re: P/e

Signs of pre-eclampsia are dizziness, visual disturbances, severe headaches, and severe pain under the ribs ? with or without sickness.

think only relevant if you have protein in urine and swelling too.

twinkle1 · 19/10/2005 10:30

I was in hosp from thur to sat with the pain and they said it was sub costal cartilage, baby was fine just me in pain is problem.I just dont think i can cope with three weeks of this

JenJam · 19/10/2005 10:32

oh - i missed that post - poor you. have they not given you any help/advice/suggestions for relief??

Busyalexsmummy · 19/10/2005 10:52

Blimey! its taken me ages to read back from last post!!
chacha-saw your post, hehe, busy busy busy....thats me!

saw m/w yesterday, now measuring 37cm, so a little ahead of what I should be,heads starting to engage(which Im pleased because it didnt until labour with ds)but is still 4/5ths palpable, but its a start.

backache is crippling, after 10mins walking around it feels like my back is going to break in halfcant understand why baby wont move as I dont slouch very much, tend to lean slightly forwards when sitting and am frequently on hand and knees when tidying/cleaning feel really antisocial at the mo as I dont feel upto walking around lots so am preferring to stay at home where i can lounge on the bed with my grobag which(lying down) is the only thing thats seems to aleviate the pain.

well better go xx

Twinkle - poor you , sounds awful. I think you need to go to Gp and make a big fuss. Cry hysterically in the surgery and dont put on a brave face. I bet there is something stronger they can prescribe. If not, they might bring your CS date forward if you complain enough. I know they now like to wait to 39 weeks for elective Cs but you know that if you have have complications they woudl go sooner. Lets face it, if you had PE they woudl have to do it now. Ok I knwo thats life threatening, but i bet lots of women still get their sections earlier for "social" reasons. YKWIM

My Dh gets costro chondritis ( sp?) and has twice been admitted with suspected MI, the pain was so bad. I guess it must be similar to what you are going through

KristinaM · 19/10/2005 11:11

Sorry just saw the paracetemol!!!! That's bloody useless. You need soemthing stronger. Can you take co-codamol or Voltarol during preg? Phone pharamacy and find out - bet you coudl get them OTT if its ok. Phone surgery now and ask for an appointment today. Paracetamol!!!!!

KristinaM · 19/10/2005 11:12

ooops I mean OTC of course

novadandypowder · 19/10/2005 11:19

enthusia, i'm bottle feeding which i'm sure is why i feel human. i've had a mixed reaction to it - some of the portland staff were very helpful and positive, but others were a bit sniffy. it's really helped DH bond with her though and i'm not worrying about whether she's getting enough as i can tell what she's having each time. also cheating by using ready made formula which saves a lot of faffing.

better night last night - fed at 12, then at 4 then at 8.30, so i got some sleep! i've moved her moses basket next to my side of the bed and we keep a night light on which helps a lot. she slept holding onto my finger all night .

the joy of one handed typing x

JenJam · 19/10/2005 11:26

night-time finger holding - very sweet! have you put a photo up yet nova?

novadandypowder · 19/10/2005 11:40

waiting for DH to do it, but should hopefully be today.

Enthusia · 19/10/2005 12:01

Right just written instuctions on how to use MN for DH, just incase!!!!!!!

Twinkle, I am so sorry you are in so much pain, really wish there was something we could do!!! Can't think of any advice though, apart from what's already been mentioned!!!!!

Nova - you sound really settled, has your DH taken some time off to be with you and Natalie? How are you feeling in terms of yourself, in any pain?

Have also just packed last things I can think of into hossie bags - now have 4 as couldn't fit it all into 3. My towel takes up quite a bit of room!!!!! I am only using flight bags, so it nearly takes up one on its own!!!!!! Just got to wait for TENs and then I am all packed. I think!

Am really excited about the prospect of dropping quite soon. All worries I had about it seem to have disappeared now. I just keep noticing every twinge, if baby does wait until week 40 I think I will have gone mad by that point!!!!

Right off to do something else I think!!!!

Diddle · 19/10/2005 12:58

oh huge congrats to those who have had their little bundels of joy already.

How are you doing Enthusia? do you think your little treasure is going to come early?

novadandypowder · 19/10/2005 15:18

Enthusia, DH is off until the end of the month and then his mum is coming to help out on his first week back to work as he has to go away for a few days.

Quite chuffed today as managed to have a shower, put away laundry and tidy while DH was out and baby slept. I find it really hard to leave her alone at the mo.

babyonboard · 19/10/2005 15:25

enthusia you are getting me excited here!
nova, finger holding...how sweet! you seem to be doing just fine, has your dp taken paternity leave?

and to whoever said babies don't come with a manual..we saw a book in boots that is the same format as those hayes car manuals..I will be buying one for dp as a 'daddy' gift...teehee
this is it

I allowed myelf a two hour nap earlier in the hope I will not want to sleep agin until bed time, and can establish a proper sleeping pattern again...bet I end up dozing in front of the tv later though...argh...

hamster · 19/10/2005 17:31

Good evening ladies...

Can't believe-another baby! Blimey, I wish.
Congrats though to the Nova family!xx

Feeling soooo ready to squeeze this baby out it's untrue.
I have my next MW appointment on Tuesday, which will make me a day or two short of 39 wks. I was 3/5 engaged last week, so here's to hoping there's a little more progress soon.
I only had DS 14 months ago, so everyone's been telling me this one will be early-although I doubt it very much!(I'm not that lucky!)

I have been feeling really tired this week too, not to mention exteremely clumsy, tearful and generally bleugh. Hope I'm not on my own there!
I find myself uncontrollably crying over the most stupid things at the moment!

Well, I'll pop on soon and see how everyone's doing. Hopefully a few more babies......?

xx

Evening girls,

Bob what a great book, I take it all back they obviously do come with a manual now - wish I'd known that 3 years ago

Just a quick post from me as I feel like absolute pants so am going to bed early, even though I managed to get a two hour sleep in while Ben was at school today.

Twinkle sorry to hear you are feeling so poorly, I agree with the others go and kick off at the drs and don't leave until they come up with something more appropriate.

Enthusia, hope the tens machine arrives in time, will keep everything crossed for you. Beks (37+6)

Busyalexsmummy · 19/10/2005 19:48

nova-sounds like your labour/delivery went really well and you seem to be coping well with your little girl, she must be tiny,I always marvel when I see small babies as alex was never that tiny!

I cant beleive the bl I.R, ffs, we sent dp's tax return for the self employed work that he did for a few months the other yr, back on time, we had a letter saying everything was fine and that he had no tax to pay(he only earned about £3000 the entire time) and now, 9 months on, they want a detailed explaination of how the amount was calculated and theyve had him in today for a meeting with them, they drive me nuts, not only are they constantly changing things like the amount we receive in tax credits, but now theyre saying he may have some tax to pay after all I wish they'd make their minds up, and what a time eh-just before were due to have this baby AND with xmas less than 2 months away

sorry about the rant but they soooooooo annoy me

Hi all.

Feeling much better today, thanks. Also, got pram & car seat today so I'm like a child in a sweetie shop. We went to Mamas & Papas today knowing which one we wanted only to find the car seat (with base) fits really badly in my car. We had to take another one with a car seat with no base as it sits better. Anyhoo....got a 3 wheeler instead of the traditional 4. Getting a bit excited now, imagining our baby girl in there!!!

Twinkle1 - someone mentioned pankillers & recommended voltarol. You might know this anyway but this drug is contraindicated in pregnancy as is nurofen & aspirin. I was going to be given codeine when I had my car accident but I felt this was a bit too strong & opted for co-codamol. I asked an aneasthetist at work about painkillers in pregnancy & e said that everything crosses the placenta but won't necessarily harm baby. Have you considered co-codamol? Even for a short while to give you some relief.

Sorry girls.....pushchair beckons...its too gorgeous to ignore. Ha, fast forward to 2 months time when I'm struggling to get the bloody thing in the car!!!

KristinaM · 19/10/2005 21:04

oh Karma - do post a link so we can admire your new buggy!

CADS · 19/10/2005 21:56

Evening

Feeling alot more positive today. Had a scan to confirm baby's position and despite what midwife thought baby is heads down, so home birth is back on the table. Having my home assessment tomorrow so will try to stop panicking that I won't have what I need for the birth. Also, got a lovely picture of baby's face and she is definitely a girl. Have decided to name her Isabella Louise (poor child is going to have a hard time learning to write her name).

Karma - Got your message on my other post. Thanks and good luck tomorrow.

Twinkle - Sorry, don't have any suggestions but I'm sure I took co-codamol during my last pregnancy.

Beks - Hey, you can't change your date on me. You were due the day after me. Not fair. Ds was 2 weeks late and I landed up being the last person in my antenatal class to give birth despite being 4th in line. Better not happen again. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Enthusia - Hope things happen soon for you. But I will be very if you have this baby next week and I land up going till 42wks. Enjoy Manchester.

Nova - Good to hear of your positive and fast birth. As the others have said its normal to feel inadequate. Just you wait and see, us 2nd/3rd etc will be feeling the same.

Jess - Welcome on board. We can never have too many members.

Busy - Does Alex understand that you are having a baby? Ds has no idea whatsoever and I keep thinking he is going to be in for a hell of a shock. Feel like I'm about to destroy his little world.

Hope everyone else is well.

Take care

Hiya all,

Went to midwife today and baby HAS turned. Woohoo!

Now i can relax and look forward to having my vbacs. Hopefully will be early this time around, really dont fancy the idea of being induced. Am as big now as i was when i had dd! Surely i cant get much bigger?! LOL

It feels really strange handling my niece, seems so long ago since dd was that tiny. (She's 2 tomorrow and im sooooo excited!)

Off to decorate living room with banners and balloons, can't wait to see her face in morning .

Obviously a day for babies turning though we need a few more to do so don't we?

CADS - great news about homebirth being back on. I'm keen to hear what the home visit turns out to be about after the rather negative stuff you heard when you first mentioned it.
Not sure where you are in the country but it really seems to vary. I think Londoner had to get OK from consultant for hers to go ahead but here no-one has mentioned anyone other than the midwives (and us) being involved in any decisions.
Hope it goes well.

Actually picked up a Moses basket from a friend today and I think I can say we are ready - physically if not mentally. Its now full of someone else's babies/animals but hopefully they can be evicted without too much complaint when the time comes

Enthusia · 20/10/2005 07:09

Morning all

Had an emotional evening again, cried over nothing particular, feels very weird doing that.

Went for a walk to shops yesterday as was really worried about not doing any exercise. Picked up a lovely rug from Woolies. It is round and has giraffes and elephants on it on a blue background. Looks great in nursery and was a bargain at £7, thought it was going to be about £20 as is actually made really well, so soft!

Feeling a little weird this morning as woke up having contractiony kind of things but really don't know if this is it or not. To begin with they were sort of long and altogether, now they are short and about 15mins apart but don't know if just braxton hicks. They are also accompanied by wind . Have had them each morning since Monday, but today they feel a bit stronger and different. Again sorry for the TMI but I have also been having loose bowel movements for the last three days. Just one a day but it is like my body is gettingd rid of everything every morning, anyway once I have this the contractions sort of wear off, so I am now really confused as to whether it is all just wind and stomachy problems pr something else!!!! When I used to think of labour I used to imagine that with that first contraction you would just 'know' you were in labour, it's not going to be like that is it? Anyone got any other signs or things I should be looking out for to tell labour from other things? I know the contractions should be coming longer and getting stronger, but other than that?

Bubs is also still moving, but very much at the top now, is this normal, had never thought about whether babies move during labour or not. Do they keep moving or do they just stop once you are in labour?

AAAAggggghhhhhhh - so many questions!!!!!!!!!

Oh well no pains now since 6.49 and it is now 7.06 so maybe it was just braxton hicks, really need to take my mind off of this whole labour thing and getting paranoid!!!!

CADs - great news about baby's position! And great news about your homebirth, sounds great.

Sarah - excellent that baby has turned, here's hoping you pop soon as well!!!

ChaCha - hope you are enjoying time with your Mum and hope your baby decides to do some acrobatic turns soon too.

Beks - Hope you are feeling better this morning and that the extra sleep did you the world of good!

Right off to do something else before I explode about this whole labour thing.
