PerfectDromedary · 22/02/2011 15:40

Not. Thinking. About. It. I'll be in hospital at 7.30 tomorrow - no food after midnight, no water after 5am. Am Julian-of-Norwiching like crazy.

Medee · 22/02/2011 15:48

Thanks cass, I think you are right about the visualisation thing. I?d like to visualise the potential pool birth, even while considering that medically it might not be possible. But to have it a doubt due to logistics is frustrating. Just to add, loved seeing Kate?s homebirth pool photos on FB, looks so serene.

I?m going to ask at the NHS AN classes tonight (which is the source of others? reports that it is out of action) and then from my CMW next week. The person who originally told me about the lovely shiny new pool was a different CMW covering my usual one (but still part of the same team.)

Fingers crossed you impressed them in other ways Bitey!

Lovely to see you Drom, it's all going to be fab, and you'll meet your baybee tomorrow!

Ivegotmrbitey · 22/02/2011 15:55

Sorry to be so me me me, was posting by stealth!

Good luck for tomorrow FlawlessCamel, not long till you can meet your baybee!

Lovely ELCS news casoulet, the baybee will be a little aries and everyone knows -they are the best sign--

Medee obsess away! You need to be able to plan, hope you can get some reliable info soon.

Lady and Scorps I did a research project in Derbyshire a couple of years ago, one of the places I visted was very beautiful and very near the westfield shopping centre in Sheffield. Did we meet? I would have given you a questionnaire and a sandwich Smile

Everyone in Leicester called me duck, it was lovely!

Orchid12 · 22/02/2011 15:55

Just dashing in to say good luck to Drom for tommorrow. Am very excited for you. Will look forward to hearing the news at some point when you get chance Smile

LadyGoneGaga · 22/02/2011 16:07

Sorry, Drom - didn't realise it was tomorrow! Very, very exciting - tomorrow night you will be snuggled up with your brand new baybee! Good luck but I'm sure you won't need it Smile

Casserole · 22/02/2011 16:22

Thanks ladies Smile

Gaga I'm sorry. I hadn't made that connection but I remember now. It must be v bittersweet holding both sets of dates in your mind.

Drom I will be thinking of you so much in the morning.

Scorpette · 22/02/2011 16:30

Good luck, Drom! Try to sleep (however impossible it might feel). In less than 24 hours you will be snorgling your precious Berwhale - bliss! We will JofN for you until we hear news :)

Is there a Westfield shopping centre in Sheffield? Have friends and rellies there but don't know it very well for shopping (and not after one of the car parks there actually made TYF yell 'motherfucking bastard!' and he never, ever swears). I demand my sarnie, Bitey - pliz to post me it NOW!

TYF's colleague has kindly sent us the links to the changing station and pram he's offering. Changy thing is fine (they're all much of a muchness), but the pram is a Pliko Pramette, which I don't like (and a friend got one and ended up buying a bugaboo after a few months, as she said the PP was so crap). I think we should say yes though and still get the iCandy Cherry - have the PP as a spare as it folds up v small and would be handier to get in a car boot. Am I being very stupid to feel a) weird about Other Baby Germs being in a used pram and b) that The Lad is the most important and wondrous being that will ever exist and deserves brand new stuff? My decision-making would be easier if eeeeeeeeeeeeeverything didn't make me feel confused and start crying (bastard hormones). Blush

Medee · 22/02/2011 16:30

the baybee will be a little aries
Someone recently asked MrM what starsign our baby was going to be. To say he was bemused would be an understatement (and didn?t know the answer, and nor do I), especially when the questioner then started going on about how fascinating and true it all was.

Not stupid, Scorps, but you don?t need to worry about it unless the people gifting the items are mingers! And if you get good second hand stuff you have more money to spend on other indulgences. A lot of our stuff is new, but my BM is bringing up a load of baby clothes, nappies and other things this weekend, and for the short period of time s/he will fit them, it will be fine.

Scorpette · 22/02/2011 16:48

Pisces, Medee Wink I know this because your DD is the day before my beloved Granddad's birthday Someone was 'warning' me about The Lad being a stubborn Taurean yesterday; my face was a rictus of this: Hmm (and I say that as someone with a tongue-in-cheek horoscope username!).

Scorpette · 22/02/2011 16:52

You're right about the freebies, Med. And there's no reason why we can't buy new stuff anyway after the baybee is here, is there? Is just ironic, cos I would be happy to buy the smaller items 2nd hand, just wanted to get the 'biggies' brand new. Time to get realistic, tho'.

Ivegotmrbitey · 22/02/2011 16:53

I am only thinking about starsigns after realising that our little hell beast kitten is an aries, as am I. Yes, I was planning my cats first birthday six weeks in advance and what of it? I don't have a baybee yet, and need to practice! The baybee will be a leo so another fire sign, poor FDH is an earth sign and doesn't stand a chance in the mix!

Actually I truly believe in horoscopes when they say things like "all aries women are hot" or "all Leo babies are fantastic" or other convienient "truths".

Well bugger me, the phone just rang and you are looking at an employed person! Might crack open a can of stout to celebrate!

LadyGoneGaga · 22/02/2011 17:11

Whoop, well done, Bitey!!! Now just to announce the pregnancy! Grin [grin Grin

I have a Pliko Pramette, Score Sad. This is why I am entertaining stupid, buy another pram fantasies. It's not actually crap - is just not trendy. And herein lies my ishoos. But I can't see point in having a Pramette and a Cherry as both are designed to be smallish and lightweightish. JMO though.

Muser · 22/02/2011 17:17

Congrats Bitey, and a big WHOOP for tomorrow Drom. Try and sleep tonight.

Scorpette · 22/02/2011 18:11

GET IN, Bitey! They obviously appreciate a 'character' Grin So pleased for you, whooop! The cocktails are on you!

Gaga, are you saying the PP is a bit meh? I would prefer a 'cooler' pram, but not to the cost of turning down a good freebie, iykwim. What I don't like about it, from the look, is the handlebars (I really want a single, straight-across handlebar) and the fact that when you convert to pushchair, you don't have a parent-facing option. I was thinking of having it in reserve for visiting the ILs (because you know they won't visit us, sigh) - small car = less space and is all olde worlde bumpy country lanes and stuff round their place, so not suitable for the Cherry (probably not for the PP either, but it won't matter).

I feel daft for fretting about a freebie Blush Is only my rampant PFBitism not grasping-ness.

LadyGoneGaga · 22/02/2011 18:19

I didn't find the handlebars a problem tbh. And it is nice and lightweight and folds pretty small. But the lack of parent facing option did bother me a bit. But really I didn't use it that often anyway as became a sling addict. And DS wasn't that bothered about facing as he liked to look around.

And the thing that really bothers me most is that the family in Shameless have it - same colour and everything! So swings and roundabouts.

But you will probably get a Maclaren in 6-9 months time anyway so doesn't really matter either way. Not stopping me having this ridiculous debate with myself. Have even intimated to Mr G that we could get a Peach in case we have another one soon Shock

rocketleaf · 22/02/2011 18:37

Funny was discussing pushchair/pram options with my cousin this afternoon and I brought up the parent facing thing. Her pushchair doesn't have it and she said she had thought that was a draw back but actually unless you are intending on spending an awful lot of time pushing your child around and are going to interact with them lots the rest of the time then its not as important as you might think. Hers still had a little view finder thingy in the hood so you can still check all is well. Still hasn't convinced me the Bee is not the best option for me tho despite the cost. We have now been offered a cot & a folding moses stand from some friends and cuz just gave me a sling/carseat cocoon thingy so we are doing quite well on 2nd hand stuff which takes the sting out of spending up on a few other things. People are so generous, its really lovely.

dromaticentry loads of luck for tomorrow, not that you'll need it! Just wanted to let you know will be thinking of you!

good news on you getting your date sorted as well caseokeyboard 1 month to go! whoot!

and finally mahoosive congrates on the job front to biteseze I know how much the job stuff has been preying on your mind since even before you got diffed so that really great news!! When are you going to have to drop the P bomb then? :o

HighPriestessBoo · 22/02/2011 19:20

I had to fill in a questionnaire for one of the girls at nursery regarding the forward facing / parent facing thing. I have a forward facing pushchair - but considering we co-slept, baby carried and didn't shove him in there all the hours God sends it hasn't made a scrap of difference IMHO. I did have a pram which was parent facing but when he was small enough to go in it he still spent most of his time in the sling if he wasn't asleep and I used to shove shopping in it :o

So chuffed for you on the job front Biteme that's brilliant.

laurielou · 22/02/2011 20:16

Bitey That's fantabulous news, well done!

Cass how do you feel about having a definite date for meeting the new little one? All very exciting.

And Drom. Lovely Drom, try & get some sleep tonight & dream about snuggling Berwhale tomorrow. So excited for you.

CurlyCasper · 22/02/2011 20:46

all the best for tomorrow Drom. Will be thinking of you. It's nearly Berwhale Day!

Medee · 22/02/2011 21:09

woohoo Bitey that's fantastic news.

In good news of my own.. MedeePoolWatchDayWhatever.. it was confirmed tonight by an actual midwife in the actual hospital that the pool is indeed back in action and has had its first birth. Hurrah!

Hooray for swimmy newborns to be Medeecalkit :o

How excitin' Drom. Oh I do love this bit in the deli :)

Scorpette · 22/02/2011 21:52

Of course, this means that you'll get in the pool and really hate it, Medee Grin Only joking - is fab news. A weight off your mind, eh? And to celebrate, I've found you the PERFECT thing to wear when birthing in there...

Medee · 22/02/2011 21:54

... eurgh!

There is that possibility, Scorps, or I get there and there is someone in already, or a medical reason I can't use it, but at least now I know it is a possibility.
