not much cervix coaxing here, and DH is treating me like i'm made of glass! Grin

but def going to try adn get a sweep. Cna't see this baby coming out today - even though HE SHOULD! But not going to get annoyed with him til weds as that's the date i gave him to be born by.

I feel shattered today - might even go for a lie down...

Really pleased all's good with you fuzzy and little evan's being a star- does you DD dote on him?

UGH - just reread your post about taking it orally - are we talking about what i think? if so agree about not being able to stomach it at moment! Grin and same here with indegestion!

forgot you were due today sara... but at least you have a few hopeful signs.

Need to speak to MIL later, but really can't be bothered... ugh...

right going for nap!

Just checking in quickly - nothing, I'm not even getting bh, period pains or 'owt!

Hope everyone enjoyed their take aways and food last night, we went out for our 6th possible last meal together and it was awful, dh had to send his back and then when it came back they had just re-heated his steak - nice, at least we didn't have to pay for it!

Happy Birthday Running hope you are having a lovely day

Hello Fuzzy and Bubba really glad you are finding the time to come and visit us and our little reprebates who obvioulsy havig a whale of a time where they are!

The jiggy thing is not working here, but if I have to listen, or see written down on facebook what is supposed to start labour, I may just scream - shall we have a discussion about your sex life in the public domain and see how you like it?!

God I'm a grumpy cow Confused I think it is because sleeping is becoming an impossibility at the moment and we are about to go out and buy a foam mattress topper to see if that helps my hips.

Happy dd Cupcakes I suppose now we can't accuse you of queue jumping if it all starts as you have waited in line patiently Grin

Right off to spend some ludicrous amount of money on this mattress topper, fingers crossed it will work!

Until later ....

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 30/01/2011 14:37

cultures negative so when they can they will let me home but may not be today :( TMI alert - and at the risk of sounding like my 2yr old - I did a poo! :o very pleased with myself and still in one piece! Now scoffing myself with chocs and crisps so as to ease the load of crap we'll need to take home, such a martyr :) Poor you Rock, you seem to have quite a hard time of it. Fwiw 3rd stage was fine for me both times, and the placenta was mahoosive both times too. Mmmh. Nice thought Hmm and on that note...

saltnvinigarcrips · 30/01/2011 15:00

Hello everyone,

I haven't read any messages but just wanted to say congratulations to everyone who has popped - I will read when I get a chance to breathe-

I got home last night. My waters broke at my doctors appointment on Thursday at 4pm and I finally delivered on Friday at 9am after a very long labour. I won't go inot too much detail but despite all the pain it was absolutely worth it.

I have a beautiful baby boy who we have called Henry David who is lovely and healthy despite a bit of a conehead having been pulled out by a ventouse in the end Hmm

Hang on everyone else who is still waiting.

I will be back online again once I my world has calmed down and I know which way up is. xx

RockLover · 30/01/2011 15:15

Congratulations salt, glad to hear you and DS are doing well.

You're not lazy going for a nap cupcakes, pregnancy is bloody hard! And pootle, sorry your meal was so crap last night, but I'll keep my fingers crossed that it really was your last meal out before baby comes.

Bubba glad to hear that you should be out of hospital soon and well done on the post natal poo, I remember how bloody terrified I was because I was convinced my c-section scar would explode. I had to ask for a laxative before I could even consider it lol!

I certainly do NOT need a laxative today, body has decided that it's going to keep me running to the loo as often as possible. Wish I had some moist toilet tissue, I'm even considering opening one of the packs of baby wet-wipes I have Blush. Still feel sick and now I have indigestion too. Bollocks!

Crystylline · 30/01/2011 15:58

woohoo for poo! - it's actually one of the things i'm worried about, having read some of the threads on here about it. before, i hadn't even considered that it would be difficult/painful/uncomfy (delete as appropriate).

great that you can go home soon bubba.

congrats salt that does sound like a long night, but v. glad you are all ok. mad that your waters went whilst at the doctors, but what a sensible place for you to be and at least it saved your furniture!

rock i'm sorry your feeling crappy again. you've had a rough few weeks, so deserve the nicest labour possible. baby will come soon - scout's honour!

pootle i've had a terribly grumpy last two days as well with interrupted sleep and a general feeling of irritableness and doom.

but, the sun came out today and i have ice cream! hope you're feeling better soon too.

cupcakes and sara go on! let's have a baby arrive on its due date for a change!!

right, off for a walk in the last of the afternoon sunshine.

CupcakesHay · 30/01/2011 16:15

SALT well done lovely - and another fab name. Pleased you came out the other side of the long labour... and like the conehead baby!

And well done on the poo bubba Grin

And pootle DAMN - i was hoping you might have been popping. sorry sleep is still crappy - everyone keeps going on baout it being "practice" Hmm for the baby! And love what you say about whole sex life thing being in public domain!

Couldn't sleep but just had a quiet read of my book - and got energy up to call mIL - only for her to be out!

Mmmmm - ice cream sounds like a ncie idea crysty - and agree - surely rock needs to easiest labour ever afetr all the crap she's dealt with. And as for the baby wipes - treat yourself rock - i opened a pack the other week for same reason Blush and didn't feel bad!

Ok - i have a gross question please - and it might be a bit TMI, but i'm curious and need to find out. Mucas plugs - do they just kind of slide out and wait for you to discover it in your pants? or does it slide out when you're going for a wee or having a shower??? sorry - just a bit confused Confused

RunningKatie · 30/01/2011 16:21

Cyberfairy, loving the fart story, I have the same issue at times. DP can't remember when I wasn't a walking burping, hiccuping, farting woman with chronic indigestion.

Am having a lovely bday, DP made me breakfast in bed, absolutely the last time before we have a baby! Then we went to my fav pub for lunch which was closed due to staff illness, so we found another pub, then for a walk and tea and cakes, now we're home and I'm making a list of jobs to do this week.

Jiggy thing not working here either Pootle, and I am very tempted to announce that on Facebook.

Hope you're feeling better Rock - does sound like things are warming up there.

Any queue jumping going on today? I'm munching pineapple and quaffing raspberry leaf tea at the mo but quite fancying a nap.

Congrats to Salt too, I did have to smile at the conehead comment though! :)

RockLover · 30/01/2011 17:03

Just done the washing up as poor old DP has done everything today and now he is doing his care-taking duties around the flats (we get £100 a month off the rent for him keeping the grounds tidy). And he still has to cook dinner, I feel so guilty.

He just found a poorly frog locked in the utility cupboard, so him and DD are off to a local pond to release it, bless them.

I am still not dressed and have no intention of getting dressed, I feel fecking shite. I really have had enough now, I actually feel like crying at the thought of having to go through labour and birth. I am just too knackered and feeling too rough to deal with it all.

CupcakesHay · 30/01/2011 18:30

Aaah rock poor you! Did you try kissing the frog in the hopes it might turn into a baby? Grin

Spoke to MIL - and she was okay! phew.... Dh and Dad making roast.

Still no idea on bra and chocolate parcel that arrived 0 wasn't MIL or best friend, or Dh's aunt... i'm at a loss to figure it out.

Pleased you are having a lovely day running

Who's due to be induced this week???

OP posts:
RunningKatie · 30/01/2011 19:11

Meeeee, I want a more positive sweep on Wednesday if the midwife can see me and then induction 4pm Friday. As I am top of the list I'll be watching out for anyone sneaking up and trying to queue jump! :)

LadyBuzz · 30/01/2011 19:51

running happy birthday

salt congratulations!

rock you poor thing you really are having a crappy time.

lazy day for me today ready for DH going back to work tomorrow, SIL and DN are making sure everything is done child and housewise, i'm very very lucky they are so good.

Fuzzywood · 30/01/2011 20:11

Congratulations Salt, lovely name.
Rock hope you feel better soon.
Evan has been on a major feeding frenzy today, think my nipples might fall off! Glad to hear you should be heading home soon Bubba.
May venture off for a bath in a bit while i don't seem to be required for 5 minutes Grin

Pootle78 · 30/01/2011 20:50

*Bubba glad everything is ok with little 'un and that you'll be home soon and also hooray for poo!

Congratulations Salt if your waters are going to go anywhere the doctors is as good a place as any! And welcome little Henry to our January gang!

Rock I opened the baby wipes for the same reason and I even have moist loo roll, I just forgot that I had got it until you mentioned it! Blush Hope you're belly is feeling better now.

Crysty hope you enjoyed your walk and ice cream (hope it wasn't Mr Whippy Grin !)

Running glad you have had a lovely day, meal, walk, tea and cakes sounds lovely, fingers crossed you won't get to do any of your items on your list!

Rock sending a huge hug to you, you really seem to be going through the mill at the moment, who cares if you don't get dressed, rest and relaxation is what you need and getting dressed just interupts that!

Cupcakes that is a mystery about your bra and chocoalte, glad you managed to catch up with mil - I have just avoided a call from sil - I really have nothing to say!

Lady good to see you are being waited on hand and foot! And good to know Fuzzy that we may get 5 mins to ourselves once little one is here!

Sausage and mash for tea, great Sunday dinner!!! Still have some kk's left but was also good and have had some fruit.

We have bought the mattress topper so fingers crossed for a decent nights sleep tonight, well as decent as it can be!

Question for those that have had their babies or have kids already - what are after pains? My sister kind of mentioned it the other day and a thread has been posted on the childbirth section about them, but not really from a new mum I have no idea what they are talking about but from someone that has already had kids - is it as bad as some of them make out?

Right am off to watch Wild at Heart, will check in tomorrow I am sure!

SaraL77 · 30/01/2011 21:54

congratulations salt! Henry is a lovely name.

fuzzy interesting (and great for you!) your 3rd stage was so short- can I ask, was it 'managed' or 'physiological' i.e. did you have an injection or let it come out naturally? I'm really undecided on it though have put physiological on my birth plan.

cupcakes talking about the mucus plug, well not sure if some people have just a whole plug plop out into their pants, but mine was more of a wipe and discover event when I went for a wee- it took a few days to come out (unless there is more to come) in stages.

rock sorry to hear you're feeling so crap, lots of sleep and tlc might have you feeling more able to cope with the impending labour etc- easier said than done I know, esp when sleeping is easier said than done- if you're like me, with braxton hicks, restless leg, indigestion, baby headbutting bladder, needing to wee every hour etc etc!

Pootle from what I experienced, after pains happen after the birth (and after placenta is delivered) when the uterus is contracting back to it's original size. They're kind of period like cramping pains but not really in waves like contractions, more like the ache you get with your period but a bit stronger- I asked for fairly strong painkillers for as long as i could until they put me on the bog standard paracetamol- they are bearable- more annoying than anything. Apparently they're worse after your 2nd birth- yay lucky us 2nd+ timers.

Fuzzywood · 30/01/2011 21:55

Pootle after pains are like contractions/ bad period pains which mainly happen when feeding the little ones in the first few days after they're born. I've had quite a few this time, they're more than bearable with paracetemol. I didn't get them first time, think they're less common with first time births. I guess it's the same as contractions/ labour though in that everyone is different.

Fuzzywood · 30/01/2011 21:58

X post Sara, I opted for a managed 3rd stage. Which I did first time as well, but first time was awful after having delivered DD with gas and air I nearly had to go into theatre to deliver the placenta. Doctor sorted it out before that happened but I didn't want to go through that this time (especially as I was on a midwife only unit) so thought that management would be the best bet.

CupcakesHay · 30/01/2011 22:31

OOooh fuzzy first birth sounds horrid!

Thanks for the advice on mucus plug sara - just a bit confused really Grin but now i'll keep a beady eye out for it!

Stuffed after dinner and choc cake for pudding.

Good question about the after-pains pootle nothing like us first times trying to be prepared for it all is it - thank god for our mumsnet friends willing to answer all our little questions Grin. And sausage and mash sounds YUMMY! Even if i am stuffed! And praying that your mattress topper works for you.

Love the sound of your family ladybuzz - how fab to have some help there. Is DH going back full time? And how old are your other kids - are they at school/nursery?

And running i would not DREAM of pushing in, but if you could all have your babies before the 1st - then I can tell baby cupcakes to get a wiggle on - as i'm still telling him the 1st or the 2nd at a push! Smile but your sweep and induction plan sounds great.

God it's a worrying state of affairs when we are excited about sweeps and inductions...

so - what do we think - am i going to be cheeky phoning up m/w tomorrow to see if i could get a sweep on tues - or do you think she'll tell me to p-ss off and wait til my appt thurs??? Hmm

OP posts:
CupcakesHay · 31/01/2011 07:55

Ugh. Where are the insomniacs. been up since 7am.... ho hum.

Tummy is feeling a bit crapoy - just ate slice of toast and was hoping that might help - but no.

Thank god for Glee to keep me happy.

I'm keeping fingers crossed for some babies to be born today (preferrably to one of us!Smile)

Anyhow - planning on swimming today - going to try and be v. active in water - and curry later.

My dad wanted to know - if my waters break in the swimming pool will it turn the pool water pink like when people wee in the poo; Grin

OP posts:
NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 31/01/2011 08:43

lol at your dad's wee comment cupcakes. massive congrats salt on birth of Henry, maybe Lachlan and Henry will meet invid staffroom one day!! :) Feeling very sorry for those of you still waiting, and ignore all the stupid calls and texts - I very nearly lost a few friends because their well-intentioned Qs pissed me off so much! Anyway the end product of my frustration is now at home with me but has decided that snacking over 3 hrs past midnight is better than one big feed at a time. Gets oxytocin hit then he's gone after 10 mins and starts up again 20 mins later. Any ideas how to break that pattern anyone?

LadyBuzz · 31/01/2011 08:45

cupcake there is no harm in asking for a sweep I would go for it.

DH is back full time now although thankfully he is local for now anyway.
DSs are 4 and 2, DS1 is at school full time and DS2 at nursery 2 mornings. I'm lucky to have people that can take them both as I can't drive. I just feel a bit useless at the moment!!

Love your dads question about the pink pool!!

rock how are you feeling?

Signing in again. Still no movement here and still feeling fairly crap.

I am due to have another sweep today, but I think I'm going to be a complete wuss and give it a miss, I just don't feel up to it.

I am going to admit defeat and let them book me in for an induction, but I'm going to ask them to let me go as long as possible so I at least have a chance to go into labour myself.

I've totally had enough now and just want this over with.

Crystylline · 31/01/2011 09:28

morning all.

bubba have you tried the BF forum on here? they seemed v. helpful when i asked a few Qs awhile ago.

this bump is on orders to come out by tomorrow, so sending him happy vibes, etc that it's all ok out here really.

rock can anyone help you with school runs, essential things, apart from DH?

and don't worry about the sweep - it's not obligatory. Sod's Law states that you'll book an induction date and bump will pop out before, so book the date and then go lie on the sofa with a good book and a ton of cake.

ladyB i bet in a way it's nice to have the place/time to yourself and Kali... i'm a complete hermit, so i'd be loving it. it's also fab when everyone descends back home again. enjoy your day.

re: 3rd Stage - I've opted for Physiological ideally, but if there's any probs I'll go for managed.

cupcakes ask for the sweep! i didn't ask for an earlier one and now regretting it, as i've waited another whole week, with nada!

more walking for me today I think. seems to encourage BH and general movements.
