Congratulations AmI, glad you and little one are ok.

I am officially a shite mum as I have given DD a ready meal (bolognaise) and it's not even a child one. I haven't cooked since last week and I'm ashamed to say I'm leaving it all to DP.

Although in divine payback I managed to get bolognaise sauce all over my top (bloody bump gets in the way lol), which will NEVER wash out. Serves me right for being a slattern!

I am alternaitively excited about Thursday and terrified, I have to admit I'm very nervous as I went into labour spontaneously last time. Not too keen about having to stay in hospital on my own overnight if I don't go into labour straight away. God I am such a bloody wimp!!

RockLover · 31/01/2011 18:28

Cross post, hope all is ok for you pootle, maybe it's just a bloody show? Hopefully mw can sort you out tomorrow - if labour doesn't start tonight of course!

Crystylline · 31/01/2011 18:33

congrats ami glad you and your new baby boy are well! i too look forward to your story! do i need to wait to hear after I've had this little one? Smile

pootle go to the hospital please. not worth fretting over, and will be far better to have peace of mind.

p.s currently being punched in the fanjo by my lovely bump! oh the joys! i think it's revenge for the bracing walk over the hills this afternoon!

trying to build up the courage to watch OBEM later on. do i watch last week's to see if I can cope? eek.

Crystylline · 31/01/2011 18:37

xpost - rock not slatternly to give DD a ready meal at all!! I'll join you in the food all over clothes stakes though! i don't seem to be able to eat or cook anything without wearing it! currently sporting red pesto sauce and little shavings of cheese! (nice) Grin

and don't fret about Thursday, you'll prob go into to labour before, but if you don't you have a date to look forward to meeting your little one. that is exciting!!

and the nice thing about hospital beds is that you can adjust the height/slant easily, which should make sleep a bit better.

CupcakesHay · 31/01/2011 18:46

Yes pootle go and get it checked out. Poor you - and never apologise for ANYTHING on here - well - unless you tell us our babies will be stuck in here til March Shock

I'm getting more twinges today, and a lot more kicks - please let it happen tomorrow!

Don't worry about the tea rock - normally you're a fab mum i'm sure - a bit of a crappy tea isn't going to hurt DD a bit....

Poor you being used as a punchbag crysty Sad - sooooooooon they'll be here.

Both Dh and Dad are getting excited over potential chelsea players signing for them and both are discussing when I can and can't go into labour as Chelsea are playing a "crucial" game against liverpool at weekend. OOoh- it'd be worth the wait just to make my dad drive me to hospital just as the match is going to start on sunday Grin - i'm so Evil!

Ok - i'm getting worried - i snore quite loudly Blush so getting a bit worried baout the other mums in the baby ward. Will they hate me???

OP posts:
CupcakesHay · 31/01/2011 18:47

ps. crysty how much longer have you got off work?

OP posts:
Crystylline · 31/01/2011 18:58

cupcakes the main noise on the ward is babies!! so a bit of snoring is not going to bother anyone. you could always take some nasal strips if you want to though.

only got 1 month left of paid time off, then i'm into the dreaded SMP (£120 per week) and my v. small savings account.

I think i can last until April/May. But, will have to change plans if baby needs me more or I'm not able to go back to work so soon.

the money stuff is crap, but bump is soooo much more important right now. he'll live on boob and i'll live on baked beans on toast! Back to my student days hurrah! Grin

LadyBuzz · 31/01/2011 19:17

Congratulations ami

bubba he is sooo gorgeous, proper strapping lad Grin

ThreeBubbasAndManyBumps · 31/01/2011 20:00

Wooo! Congrats mad - glad to see you on here, was starting to worry.

Thanks ladyB, we quite like him and think we'll keep him :)

Crystylline · 31/01/2011 23:07

i was brave. i watched OBEM.

ow, ow, ow. i promise not to be a horror like the c-section woman. oh she was terrible.

amelia, however, was a lovely, brave girl.

it's really going to hurt, isn't it? crap.

CupcakesHay · 01/02/2011 00:25

just checking to see who's around..... i'm still here too - although been having some funny contraction things - plus is 1st feb as i type - so technically my baby should be coming today if he listens to his mum!

Thanks for making me feel better about the snoring! Plus who knows - they might kick me out after the birth.

Very philosophical approach to the money side crysty - baken beans and breasts - it's all a family needs Grin

I've put my fleecey new pyjamas on tongiht - so i'm hoping i'll tempt fate and ruin them with amniotic fluid!

Night - see you all tomorrow!

Oh - BTW - woman in pub was saying she knew a baby who was 12lb and born with teeth - so hoping lachlan's aren't going to come in for a few more months bubba otherwise OUCH! Wink

OP posts:
Crystylline · 01/02/2011 06:50

hope contractions are still going cupcakes

woken up in mad cleaning frenzy and found a bag of baby clothes that haven't been washed yet! gah! no idea where on earth i'll tidy them to. draws busting at the seams here. bump has a bigger wardrobe than me!

you know you've been up too early and for too long when the news starts repeating stories on you...

ho hum.

baby insomnia is bizarre!

ThreeBubbasAndManyBumps · 01/02/2011 08:43

morning crystyll - I know what you mean about big wardrobe for the little one! that reminds me - I have a huge bag of clothes a friend has lent me that I need to sort through and find a home for

SaraL77 · 01/02/2011 08:53

Hi there,

a quick update from me- I have had a boy!- born 3 hours over my due date - 2.55am yesteday morning- outside the hospital entrance!!!! He was in a bit of a hurry to meet us I think. Reuben Mark weighed 7lb 2oz and we're both doing well.

My waters broke at 10pm, contractions took a while to start, by 1pm they were pretty bad but all over the place. Called hospital around 1.45am and as some were 10 mins apart and some were 5 she told me to go have a bath. 5 mins later they were 5 mins apart and over a minute long. got changed and by the time we got in the car I was in agony, contractions every min. DH drove at breakneck speed to hospital, got there, got out of the car, one huge contraction and I told him I couldn't go any further (6ft from the door) I told him to pull down my trousers, the head was already out, one more push and the baby fell into my tracksuit bottoms that were half way down my legs. We scooped him up and some poor bloke who was on the phone to a relative outside witnessed it all and we told him to get help. the doors were locked and he had to press the intercom to get someone- eventually midwifes came rushing down with towels and a wheelchair- I was kind of stuck standing, baby still attached with the umbilical cord, trousers round my ankles in minus 2 degrees.

Anyway, long story short, alls well that ends well! At least I had a nice short pushing stage Grin

good luck to all those who are still waiting- sorry couldn't catch up with all the posts but will have more time later, time to feed again soon!...

RockLover · 01/02/2011 09:10

Well done Sara, sounds pretty scary but you handled it very well! Hope your contractions are doing something significant Cupcakes, you'll be back to tell us about the new baby in no time.

As for me, I'm still going here and feeling dreadful. I seem to have gone into a free-fall panic and can't seem to get my head together! Feeling sick and anxious all the time and I've no idea how to calm myself down before Thursday. I feel like such an idiot.

Anyway, hope all you ladies are having a better day than me. x

Crystylline · 01/02/2011 09:17

wow sara that is an amazing story!!

you poor lass with being outside adn well done your hubby, but how brilliant that your labour was relatively short.

love the name too.

are you back home or have they kept you in hospital?

have a fabulous day with your little one.

RunningKatie · 01/02/2011 09:23

OMG Sara - that's one heck of a story you'll be telling for years. Hope you're feeling ok and your DH isn't too shellshocked as well! Congrats on the arrival of Reuben.

Congrats to AmI too, another boy for the thread. Looking forward to the interesting birth story (I think)!

No sign of this one appearing today. I had a rubbish night, ended up coming downstairs and lying on the sofa for 3 hours listening to my birth preparation cd and trying to ease the tension in the bump. All seems fine again this morning, it's always the evenings when it gets bad.

Crysty, I watched OBEM, partly because I wanted to see what happened to the woman with the heart problems from last week but she's on next week. Anyway, jeez, that ECV woman needs a slap and maybe a gag. She was high maintenance. Bless Amelia though, she did brilliantly, although her bloke was an absolute twit for sleeping through it all.

Right, unless I can go into labour in the next 30 mins I am being dragged taken to IKEA by my mum.

Fuzzywood · 01/02/2011 09:33

Congrats Iam
Sara wow, well done you for being so calm about the whole thing, Reuben will be able to dine out on that story! Bet the guys face who was standing outside was a picture! Lovely name by the way.
This is definitely turning into a boy dominated thread.
Hope all is well with everyone else. All good here, my parents arrived yesterday so loads of help about for me which DD is loving.
Will check back for more news later x

ThreeBubbasAndManyBumps · 01/02/2011 09:34

OMG sara that's one hell of a birth story!! Hope you're okay with it all - a friend of mine who had a similar story with her first got some kind of counselling from the hospital to help her deal with the shock of it.

Love the name btw :)

ThreeBubbasAndManyBumps · 01/02/2011 09:38

Gorgeous pic btw fuzzy :)

Crystylline · 01/02/2011 09:44

completely agree katie about OBEM.

crappy about your sleep though.

Enjoy sorting out those clothes bubba - i'm guessing newborn sizes don't quite fit your (not-so) Little One!

hope you have a nice time with your folks today fuzzy

rock you'll be fine. only a couple of days to go. may be have a short walk, read or cook something to relax.

I'm off for my sweep. will be back later comlaining about it, no doubt!!

and no sign of cupcakes yet... hope something is happening for her

CupcakesHay · 01/02/2011 09:55

WOW Congrats Sara - another boy - another lovely name! And WHAT a story. Thta's fab and so scary.... but brill and pleased all ended OK and like the fact the doors were locked! BRILL! GrinGrinGrin - bet you gave your DH a heart ache! Hope all's good with little Reuben!

I think it's just that all the boys are lazy naughty and arriving late!

rock you will be a star on thurs. Don't panic or fret, it'll be fine, and everything will go as it should go.

How are you doing crysty apart from the giant bag of clothes which will give you something to do! What date are you due for induction? Is it +12 with you?

Also - who can help - I was due on 30th Jan -so i'm counting 12 days from the 31st to make the 11th - right?

Have fun at IKEA running i'm keep fingers crossed for a gush of water breaking and maybe you can try and top sara and give birth in one of the show bedrooms Grin - if you do that you might get free Meatballs for life?

Given up on these stupid contraction things - think they must just be more painful BH than i've had previously. Get my hopes up everytime and nothing. Very uncomfy in bed last night... and kept dreaming my waters had popped (stole that from fuzzy i think!) and then of course woke with jolt to nothing Sad

Also worked out if baby waits to be induced, we'll only have 11 days before DH needs to fly home - and 2 of those will be spent with his mother visiting.... Sad

On plus side, waiting for m/w to call me back about sweep... so hopefully i can feel like i'm not missing out on that potential fun Hmm

fuzzy meant to say love the spotty changing mat - is it new - where's it from i want one (even though i have one, but you're looks prettier!)

CupcakesHay · 01/02/2011 09:56

X-post crysty sorry to disspoint.

remember i can't sleep til 1am lately - so never up (unless at silly o'clock) until at least 9.30 - and then I need to write a mammoth post...!

OP posts:
RunningKatie · 01/02/2011 09:59

Phew Cupcakes, I was watching out for potential queue jumping going on this morning! :) Is there a chance they'd induce earlier if DP has to go back? I know it's not entirely orthodox but your situation isn't as straightforward as me hiding DP's passport.

Right, no sign of baby so I guess I need to brush my hair before risking IKEA. I'm now thinking we need to go via Tesco so I can spend my birthday/Christmas money on a netbook.
