Finally have caught up on all the posts! Feel like a right sop not being on here after Henry being born, don't know how all you ladies with other DC manage to do it!! I feel completely absorbed by him at the minute and even when he's sleeping i'm either sleeping or just watching him. Finally starting to feel more like my old self - evident by the fact I was a complete and utter bitch to DH earlier so now feeling very guilty and sheepish.

Big congrats to everyone. Travis sorry you had a traumatic experience it sounds awful. I also feel slightly traumatised by my experience as does my DH but I hope with time I'll move on from it. Like you running I was by far screaming worse than anyone I had seen on OBEM and even the doctors/mws looked shocked Grin

bubba I would absolutely love to see you in SCR with Lachlan. Born one day apart! So pleased for you and DH that you had a boy. Not sure if that is what you were hoping for but after 2 DDs it must be great :)

Also having the same problem of Henry weeing everywhere when changing him but the worst was yesterday when after I heard him poo I went to change him and then mid change he pooed everywhere and I was trying to plug it up with cotton wool mid poo Grin. I've been using a muslin cloth to slap over his winkle so I can control the flow if he does pee? It's kind of better but not great. WE need to come up with a better solution between all of us.

Sara I feel your pain with the bf. My nipples were so sore and my right one still has a bit of a scab on it. On day 4 I went to hospital ambulatory unit to say I thought he wasnt' getting enough as I couldn't see the colostrum and they suggested using top up which I did for a day to give my boobs a break. Glad I did as it gave me ease of mind while I waited for milk to come in properly. You shouldn't feel guilty at all but the mw said you can always go back to bf weeks later if you decide you want to try again. Also, your labour story is amazing. Read it to my DH. Mine on the contrary was a good 17 hours :(

cupcakes must be in labour. Thinking of you and hope you and baby are well. Can't wait to hear your story :)

Right back to university challenge and my Wine Grin Sure one glass will be fine. The night time feeds are the worst!! So exhausting.

Fuzzywood · 07/02/2011 20:16

Huge congrats Rock and Running. Feeding yet again here, he's a boob monster, he was weighed by the mw today and he's up to 9lb already, 11oz put on in 5 days, nice to get some reassurance that it's going well.
Hope the HV can help tomorrow Bubba. I'm still sporting my attractive tubey grip as my stomach muscles came apart loads again. Oh the glamour.
Hope all are well x

saltnvinigarcrips · 07/02/2011 20:21

x-post with cupcakes CONGRATULATIONS!!! Glad you and Jesse are back home in one piece. Sounds like you were in good hands in the hospital. Hope your scar heals okay - I have no idea why any celebrity would choose a c-section either. Even in my worst moments I was terrified of having to have a c-section.

Love the name too. We considered Jesse for a name a few months ago :)

saltnvinigarcrips · 07/02/2011 20:21

oh and cupcakes my piles are better thanks for asking....

Fuzzywood · 07/02/2011 20:28

X post Cupcakes congratulations and well done you, another lovely name.

saltnvinigarcrips · 07/02/2011 20:53

fuzzy how do you know if your muscles have come apart?

Fuzzywood · 07/02/2011 21:19

When the mw checks your stomach it should be for 2 things, to check your uterus (sp?) is contracting back to size and also that your muscles are going back together. Everybody will have some amount os separation but if they can get more than 2 fingers I think in the gap then they're too far apart. That's when you get the attractive tubey grip and some exercises to do, basically pelvic floor exercises plus a few others. If it's really bad then you need physio. I had it after having DD too so it was kind of inevitable but they're mending fairly quickly. You'd notice because your stomach will be pointy. Did your mw check yours Salt?

RockLover · 07/02/2011 21:44

Ooh, forgot to add George was 8lb 4ozs, I wasn't expecting him to be that big lol. DD was only 7lb 2oz.

I must admit I'm feeling a tad grim tonight with c-section pain, bad back etc, plus totally knackered and a little bit nauseous (pretty sure that is a combo of drugs and tiredness though). I am so sore all over lol!

lol LadyB - you're right; Lachlan is already in 3-6 month clothes :o :o

saltnvinigarcrips · 07/02/2011 22:41

Not sure if they did check for the muscle seperation fuzzy but i have both the mw and the health visitor coming tomorrow. I had an episiotomy so hoping someone will check my fandango. TMI alert but I checked myself in the mirror and I swear they have totally sewn over my hole!! It looked like a wall of flesh :( Hoping I haven't overhealed or anything terrible as I know this might sound odd but I really want to have sex with DH asapBlush. Can anyone else see their hole?

Sorry you're feeling grim from c-section pain rock hope you are feeling better. Remember you can take paracetemol although I keep forgetting.

Pootle78 · 07/02/2011 22:42

Wow everyone, looks like we need to be moving to the post natal thread now - Congratualtions to Travis , Cyber , Rock , Running , Cupcakes and Salt it has been a very busy first few days of February!

We finally made it home on Saturday after what could only be called the stay from hell in hospital - Travis I had the bitch from hell who was the most patronising midwife who also thought I was neglecting my son, are you sure we weren't in the same hospital?!

Jacob will not latch but my milk finally came in on Saturday morning so having been released at 4.30 on Saturday afternoon with nothing in the house, we had a mad dash to Boots to find an electric express before it closed, followed by a mad panic shopping spree in Asda to buy bottles, teets and clothes as we only had 1 clean baby grow in new born.

We had been topping up with aptimal but I am expressing about 50ml in 20 minutes so hopefully won't need it very often, but I am having problems with getting all expresses in the day so 1 or 2 bottles a day are formula. He is very collicy and we gave him a dummy last night and for the first time since he was born he slept for more than 45 minutes!

jacob has already had his first trip to the doctor as his belly button is infected but have some powder to dry it up and midwife concerned I may be getting the symptons of mastitis so need to keep an eye on it (fluey, achey, shivery) but also have a coughing virus that is going round at the moment so add this to the lack of sleep and it's fun here! It really is true that you don't appreciate your sleep until it has gone!

Midwife came out today, he now weighs 7lb 15 3/4 oz so although I thought I had starved him for his first few days on this earth, they are not too concerned!

Can not believe how in love I am with him!

Lovely to be able to read all of your stories, when I work out what our daily routine is going to be, will make sure I add mn to it!

Oh and found out today that my big boss at work, sent out an e-mail saying I had had a daughter - what a muppet!

Pootle78 · 07/02/2011 22:49

x post with Salt

I just tore (2nd degree), but I daren't even look down there at the moment! When she sewed me up she said I had what looked like a pile on my perenium but it should go down Confused and I can feel my stitches pinching, I was also told you can use ibruprofen to help with the inflamation even if you are breast feeding

Oh and forgot to ask - A quick question for you more experienced mothers, what does the doctor check on with you when you have your 6 week check up? I don't really like my doctor so want to know what they will be asking/doing before I try and book with someone else and think of a reason why my doctor can't do it!

travispickles · 07/02/2011 23:23

So nice to hear from you all. Don't worry about painkillers - whilst in hospital I was on 2 antibiotic drips, codeine, tramadol, diclofenac and paracetomol. Mot to mention morphine (although the ketamine did prevent me breastfeeding for 12 hours!). So evedently a few cocodamol should be fine!!
Just going to try upload a pic of Saskia... [technophobe emoticon]

ThreeBubbasAndManyBumps · 08/02/2011 07:56

I had a look at my stitches too salt - you should definitely be able to see a hole!!! Get the mw to check it out...

Although it's our wedding anniversary this week, the hole will not be used!!! Blush Shock :o :o

Oooh I was ready to send Lachlan back last night - would not go down in his cot and I can't/won't do the controlled crying malarky. If I gave him the boob (also a boob monster here fuzzy) he fell asleep on it within about two mins then woke up as soon as he was put down :( - it was a lonnnnnnng night [huge yawn emoticon]

Crystylline · 08/02/2011 12:06

Will read up on everyone's stories soon, but just dropping in to say...

Xavier Louis was born at 2.38 this morning. Weighed in at 6 lb 11. Very traumatic birth much like cupcakes, but had to have forceps delivery as he was stuck too low. All doing well now though. He's mostly feeding well and confident the bruising isn't as bad as first thought.

Hope all are well...p.s isobel was my first choice for a girl.

saltnvinigarcrips · 08/02/2011 12:24

Big Congrats crystylline! So many of us having boys and all choosing such lovely names :) Does this now mean everyone has graduated at long last? ....waiting for cupcakes to update the list Hmm as I'm useless.
bubba just went to inspect myself again and I swear I have no hole!!!!! [horrified expression]. Just called the mw who is coming round this afternoon. Please pleaes don't let me have overhealed :(

ThreeBubbasAndManyBumps · 08/02/2011 12:40

My Goodness - even crystylline has finally popped (many congratulations - love the name too) - I feel it is time we graduated, so come and join us over here ladies

Madinitials · 08/02/2011 20:40

Congrats Running, Rock and Cupcakes, looks like 5th was a good day for newborns. My little boy Maxwell was also born on Saturday weighing in aqt 7lb 8oz.

The second sweep on Saturday at 3pm worked a treat, within 10 mins my contractions had started and at 8pm my waters broke. Laboured at home until 10pm when we went to hospital as contractions were coming every 5 mins. Got to hospital at 10.15pm and they were 3 mins apart, by the time I was examined at 10.45pm, I was 8cm dilated and no time to get into pool as I went to 10 cms within 2 mins. Delivered Maxwell at 11.45pm with gas and air.

It was my dream birth as it was super-fast and I had no stitches but please bear in mind that when I delivered DD1 in 2009, I had a 24 hour labour, induction with syntocinon and no epidural (not by choice!) plus episiotomy and ventouse. For those of you who have just had a traumatic first labour and are swearng blind that you will never have another child, please believve that the second one can be sooo much better; it happened for me.

Congrats Crystyl, so glad he finally arrived.

Please add me to the list.
