RockLover · 29/01/2011 15:20

Um...I may well be in post natal, but I doubt i'll be a yummy mummy. More like a battered, bruised, knackered, don't-care-if-my-hair-is-brushed mummy.

CupcakesHay · 29/01/2011 15:24

Aaah - thanks for popping in and cheering us up gallic and zippy

And you hang in there on the b-feeding front - and don't let anyone make you feel guilty about anything! One day at a time sounds like the best bet for sure zippy.

And gallic - can't imagine reading this in the middle of the night is much fun - all we're doing is whingeing still about babies not coming! And i have no idea how crysty, pootle, running and rock are coping - i'm not even overdue yet! And sara is same as me - clinging onto both of our babies coming on our due date!

Although I have noticed (without wishing to curse her) - running is def MIA today. Fingers crossed for her!

zippy when you get a second - have a think about your hospital bag - and any advice you can give?

x-post with rock and crysty - UGH - i agree - i'll never be a yummy mummy!

Although my mum has said "I hope you aren't planning to wear your pyjamas all day every day afetr the baby is born" Grin - wanted to say Yes... sigh.

Love the thought that in 2 weeks time we'll FINALLY have had the babies! Even pootle!!!! look at poor fuzzy - 11 days over. but then i think of you crysty with your lost mucas plus.... (very careless of you losing it - ha ha!)

Still not sure about the weird contraction things last night - really didn't seem like the braxtons i've had before - but then they couldn't have been contractions.... oh who knows! Hopefully i'll just pop my little boy out tomorrow between making yorkshire pudding and larkrise to candleford! Wink Yeah... right....

Cupcakes I'm in my pyjamas and have been pretty much since we got home so I reckon it should absolutely be allowed.
Feeding seems to be going ok here though its hard work. Hang on in there as I'm sure it got easier fairly quickly once you and the little ones have worked out what to do!
Have posted a couple of pictures of the little man if you want to have a look.
I've also found another advantage of not being in hospital for long, all my yummy snacks were still in it when I emptied it earlier Smile.
So quick run down of the birth for you. Waters started to go about 1pm on Thursday but contractions were a bit all over the place and pretty much disappeared when I decided to go to bed at about 11.30. Been lying down for about 15 mins when my waters went with a big pop. Contractions then kicked in about 4 minutes apart and really strong so got into the car and to the birth centre by about 12.15, got examined about 12.30 and was 5cm so they ran the pool. I was thinking I would be there for quite a while but been in the pool about 15 mins when I really needed to push so about 30 mins from 5-10cm. Pushed until about 1.15am in the pool but it wasn't working too well got out onto the very comfy non hospital type bed and was starting to panic a bit thinking it would be the same as DD who got a bit stuck but next contraction head was out closely followed by the rest of him. No tears or stitches this time, big relief. Had cuddles and a feed, nice long shower, quick check over and allowed to go about 3.30am. Think we gave MIL a heart attack when we walked back in. All in all a really quick and not too traumatic time (helped by knowing I'm never doing it again Grin.
Hope all MIA are doing ok. Will probably be around later as he seems a little bit nocturnal at the moment!

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 29/01/2011 18:09

hello ladies, quick update as DH is taking Lachlan down to SCBU for his anti-bios. He's a gorgeous and contented little Hmm boy and is feeding really well but milk not in yet, prob a bit delayed because of infection interruption, but colostrum seeming to keep him happy. Met his sisters today which was lovely :) Oops he's back and hungry again !! so best be off xx

RunningKatie · 29/01/2011 18:11

A very late roll call from me today, sadly not due to pushing babyrunning out.

DP realised last night that with the midwife saying I was nowhere near ready it was a good thing to make plans. So, today we've been for a good drive in his 30 year old mini - lots of speed bumps etc., and then we've been to a real ale pub for lunch, then I've had a good nap listening to my natal hypnotherapy cd whilst he's gone to Sains. As it's my bday tomorrow we're now booked in for lunch at a country pub and are meeting friends after for a good walk around a country park.

I'm kind of resigned to aiming at Friday and an induction now, but we'll see.

Anyway, many congrats to Bubba and welcome to Lachlan, that's a mightily impressive size! :)

RockLover · 29/01/2011 18:18

Well, nothing has happened since my sweep. I'm a bit despondent to be honest as I went through all that discomfort for nothing, all very annoying.

Still DP is off to get our chinese food, so that should cheer me up (and add to my double chin). Baby must be excited as he's going mad at the moment after being rather sedate this morning. I'm going to get DP to cut up the pineapple later and have a go at helping this baby out by eating lots of yummy fruit.

So it looks like another night of boring Saturday night tv and no action for me. Hope you other ladies in waiting have more luck than me in meeting your babies this evening.

RunningKatie · 29/01/2011 18:35

Rock, I know what you mean, MW said I might have a bit of a show or something after the sweep but nothing - just uncomfortable. I feel a bit deflated, especially as it seems I might not be able to get another one before the induction.

We're having lemon chicken with noodles tonight, and then I've got a huge pineapple to demolish. Then DP tells me we're going to coat my cervix! How romantic, huh?! Grin

CupcakesHay · 29/01/2011 18:56

Aaah fuzzy love the pictures - and the quick birth story! Very impressed at being home at 3.30am! I have to ask - was your bed soaked afetr waters broke in it?

And pleased Lachlan is still doing well bubba - and very pleased he's hungry - need to boost his weight a bit Grin

I think the rest of us mums-to-be are PRAYING you have the biggest baby out of us all!

Sorry running i think i've pobviously cursed you. Agree with your DP about making plans.... thinking of going to sunny Newton Abbott no on weds.... if nothing else the bumps might work??? (or maybe the burger king... ? Although rock - where's the McDonalds???)

Off for my steak now - no more anything from me.... although had a nap for an hour and dribbled very badly Blush so much so DH asked why my pillow was wet!!!!

Enjoy chinese girls! x

OP posts:
Fuzzywood · 29/01/2011 20:12

Hey Cupcakes fortunately bed not soaking as I jumped up with the pop. So clothes and floor soaked, then car seat soaked and they were still going about an hour later. It seemed like masses of fluid to be honest, I don't remember it being like that the first time. The most disconcerting bit is the popping sensation very odd.
Hope you're all enjoying your take-aways. I'm enjoying the champagne and Belgian chocs sent by FIL. Which is very generous of him, especially as he'd arranged a business trip to try to coincide with Evan's arrival (he lives in the US) but because he was so late he landed back home just after E arrived. They were introduced to each other via Skype earlier.
Right going to have an early night, labour vibes to all those waiting x

RockLover · 29/01/2011 20:47

My chinese was lovely, but now I am completely stuffed!

But despite feeling so full I am forcing down fresh pineapple chunks in order to help bring labour on...yeah right!

Oh well, just a night of shite tv and indigestion for me then.

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 29/01/2011 21:10

an early night for me too in a mo, would kill for a chinese but have to make do with hospital food for another few days. Results still not back in for lachlan so don't know how much longer we'll be here. Had lots of visitors today and KKs were brought too so glucose levels to be maintained! Sorry about putting the fear of God into those of you in the waiting room re size of my littl'un but I would bet my KKs on him being the biggest of the lot! After posting last post my milk came in so a happy little fellow. Can't wait to see pics of those who've arrived already -phone too slow for that- and wishing a speedy and safe delivery for those in waiting room. Sweeps no fun - I should know after FIVE of the buggers! :o Will give full low down on birth story once back home, incl. comical waters breaking moment :o

CupcakesHay · 29/01/2011 23:03

I'm stuffed too! Steak on rocks was sooooo yummy - and i made everyone go to the pub so i could play quiz machine after! Dh is enjoying drinking whilst dad is being designated driver.

Good to know about the waters fuzzy - and what a FAB FIL you have! Have oyu had lots of blue cheese and pate???

Good girl rock forcing pineapple down you! LOL@indegestion.

Looking forward to hearing the comical birth story bubba Grin - we love to be enteratined when we're bored and waiting! Keep in touch about Lachlan... and very much looking forward to seeing a picture of him!

Anyhow - i need to get a good nights sleep in don't i? I'm due tomorrow so i'm bound to have it then Hmm and failing that - i'll be fielding those awful phone calls and emails! And generally crying! ha ha - positive thinking eh?

Although taking a leaf out of running's book - making lots of plans for next week so that I can (hopefully) cancel them all! Smile

Til tomorrow (or middle of night if insomnia/contractions hit!) Grin

OP posts:
NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 30/01/2011 04:01

not amused with the littl'un this am. Fed for about 3hrs on and off till I swaddled him so tight he had no choice but to sleep :o and for the first 3.30s of his life he has woken and fed, so my motherly body clock Hmm has woken me today for the same. Is he playing by HIS rule book? Is he bugger! :o So ate the last of my KKs and caught up on you lot! Good luck with best-laid plans running and others, happy birthday too! Happy due date cupcake :)

Crystylline · 30/01/2011 10:02

Happy Birthday katie have a lovelyvday

that is one speedy labour fuzzy and i think it's really nice you went home afterwards as well. pics are all beautiful.

rock don't worry about the sweep, it might not start something now, but it could start your body off slowly....

bubba gorgeous, greedy baby, eh? how did the scbu treatments go yesterday and is he perking up?

i drove a one hour round trip last night for takeaway pizza, because you all had chinese and it made me have a huge craving!!

finally the stormy weather has gone today, so i will go walking, and spend some time in the sunshine! hurrah!

cyberfairy · 30/01/2011 10:50

Congratulations to the graduates Smile
I am one day overdue and climbing the walls-convinced I was in labour last night, severe tummy pain, started panicking and forgot how to breathe-then did a big fart and it was all over Blush
Not a good dress rehearsal, unimpressed with myself.

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 30/01/2011 12:15

lol that's so funny cyberfairy :) Wee Lachlan is fast asleep on me, but he's about to have some more bloods taken :( Do you think I can hide under the bed so he doesn't have to have them? :O

Crystylline · 30/01/2011 12:20

lol cyber

bubba distract Lachlan with milk whilst they take the bloods and don't look?

aw, it must be hard to cope with, but hopefully you'll get positive results and be home soon.

Smile
CupcakesHay · 30/01/2011 12:42

Good to see you cyber - i assumed you might have popped - but pleased (sorry, mi'm evil) you're still with us to keep us company! And love the Grin fart story! I'm very windy lately...

running hope you are having a lovely birthday - and hoping that you had a secret surprise pressie of a baby Hmm

Naughty lachlan - mummy needs her sleep! Like the swaddling plan though.

crysty pleased it's not just me getting the late night random cravings. thank god DH is here - just been to morrisons and bought up half their supply of cakes - but luckily he'll eat them too.

Anyhow - no baby as yet - was VERY VERY uncomfy in bed last night - tossing and turning - but still managed to lie in til 11.30 Shock so late!!!

Right -mum's making me bacon sarnie for breakfast/lunch... so i'll catch up later. No doubt being due date, i'll just be popping in to say my contractions have started Hmm... yeah right!

RockLover · 30/01/2011 13:09

Signing in as expected. Had a horrid night last night, woke up about 4 with a horrible tummy ache and had to make a few loo trips to empty (sorry TMI). Then felt REALLY sick which panicked me completely (I hate being sick, I have a bit of a phobia), so I played solitaire on my Ipod for 2 hours.

Just as I was starting to feel a bit better and drop off back to sleep I had a really strong period pain which lasted for well over a minute. Took my breath away a bit, then I got another smaller one about 6 minutes later which was alot weaker, then nothing else so I went back to sleep.

Have only just got up and I feel quite nauseous and my tummy is very tender (in a need the loo way, not period pain way). I am presuming this was caused by too much chinese food and gorging myself on pineapple. Either way I am not a happy bunny this morning! I'm just forcing some toast down to see if it makes me feel any better.

Not sure whether this could be the start of things or not, if it is, I hope I feel a bit better by the time it kicks off.

CupcakesHay · 30/01/2011 13:15

I hope this is the start of things rock - they do say you have urges to empty your bowels, etc. So maybe that's what it is?

I'm sure by the time it all kicks off, your just be relieved 9and myabe in too much agony to notice feeling sick - ha ha!) Grin

Baacon sarnie was yum - going to squeeze an iced donut in now and do the crossword....

OP posts:
RockLover · 30/01/2011 13:19

Well in my last labour I didn't feel sick at all until I got my epidural, which apparently lowers your blood pressure, hence the nausesa.

For some reason, this time round I seem to be very anxious about going into labour which is really annoying me.

SaraL77 · 30/01/2011 13:36

me checking in- happy DD Cupcakes I'm not hopeful I'll be having this one on my DD unlike the last. I think people expect it even though its an ESTIMATED due date. My mum called this morning and seemed quite surprised and dissapointed that I wasn't in labour! grr, I was a tad annoyed and can feel the annoyance creeping in when I think of all those people that will be asking every 5 mins if I have any 'twinges' (I know they mean well, must be the hormones)

more mucus plug this morning (nice Hmm but hopefully means body is getting even more ready. Some period-like pains and BH on and off.

Rock maybe it's because you know what to expect that you're more anxious. I was so calm and accepting first time round, this time I am kind of calm but am a bit more apprehensive (had a crap 3rd stage getting placenta out and am most nervous about that now) In fact, I think I'm more apprehensive about breastfeeding as it was such a disaster last time Sad

running hope you have a birthday baby surprise! If not hope things start for you soon!

fuzzy sounds like a great (if that word can be used!) labour- under 2 hours in total?? wow. I'm hoping mine is that quick!

talking of kick starting labour- I had a curry last night and all it gave me was severe indigestion- twice. Not happy at 2.30am having to repeat my gavisgon dose...

would like to try the cervix 'coating' so to speak, but just can't face that at the moment- anyone else just not able to go there?? Apart from feeling about as attractive as a hippo, there's no mojo - it's well and truly left the building!

sending 'labour starting' vibes out to all those waiting!.....

RockLover · 30/01/2011 13:43

Sara, I just can't face the thought of getting jiggy either. No libido coupled with being very uncomfy inside and also feeling like crap now, poor DP has no chance.

However my mw said it's supposed to work better when taken orally (IFSWIM...gross), DP seems to be up for it Hmm, but I'm not sure I can stomach that at the mo. Ewwww.

Fuzzywood · 30/01/2011 14:22

Happy birthday Running.
Hope Lachlan was ok with the bloods Bubba and he's continuing to get better. Very hungry little man here too though he was a star last night and slept from 1.30 until 6. We ventured out for our first walk today as well, very nice to get out of the house.
Rock, Sara I was much more apprehensive this time as well but once it started properly I was much calmer this time. I also had a crap 3rd stage first time but it was over in less than 10 mins this time. Maybe your body knows what to do better 2nd time around (things are a bit more stretchy too Grin ).
Sending more labour vibes to all still in the waiting room x
