Hello ladies ? bit nerve wracking moving over to ante natal but thought I?d be brave! Here?s to a trouble free 8 or so months for us all! And hoping lots more of us move over very soon.

Step away from your thermometers ladies. That way madness lies.

Sits back. Feels a bit lonely. Waits for others.

GetDown that is good nuchal scan results although I feel slightly peeved that you beat me, mine were 1 in 24,600 which was the highest I'd heard of, until now!! Wink Grin

Oh my goodness I am SO hungry! Just eaten a huge plate of rice for dinner, and had to have a packet of crisps after as I was still hungry! Am STILL really hungry!

I had Burger King for supper Blush. Normally I hate it but I saw someone on tv eating fries and suddenly needed it. DH thinks I've gone mad...

Has anyone else opted not to have a nuchal scan?

spilttheteaagain · 24/03/2011 20:02

I didn't have one pippa. I declined the 16 week blood screening for Downs and other chromosone disorders too. Nuchals aren't offered on the NHS round here anyway.

I did chuckle at the competitive nuchal scoring though Grin

Apart from my own heartbeat GetDown no I haven't as yet. Could be a messy business getting that gel all over me!

Pippaandpolly · 25/03/2011 09:10

That's what we're going to do too Spilt.

Those of you who've bought a doppler, can I ask where from and for how much? On the one hand I think it would bring me reassurance and on the other I think I'm paranoid enough that it might just tip me over the edge if I ever couldn't find the heartbeat. Not sure whether it's a good idea for us, but leaning towards it...

Also, a friend has leant me a fantastic book - it's the DK Pregnancy day by day book and it's so detailed (to the extent that I wonder how accurate it is, but meh!). For instance, on today for me (13+4) it tells me that 'the core development of your baby's central nervous system has taken place...', to eat pork and to jog, but only if I did so before pregnancy. It has sections written by midwives, and bits for dads, and it's a really good read. I thoroughly recommend it!

ravenlocks · 25/03/2011 13:49

Thanks so much for your lovely welcomes! As at today (4+5) I have not had any bleeding, so assuming I am still pg. Haven't done a test since my BFP, going to do a CBD test on Sunday with FMU since I have one in the house and am hoping to get a 3-4 weeks, or at least a 2-3 weeks on it.

Feeling good, but not pg atall except for sore boobs.

Had first night of a big night out where I wasn't drinking. It was with work people so they didn't ask me too many questions but I know they all thought I was being wierd (I would normally be first at the bar!).

Taking every day at a time, first milstone is tomorrow which would be the day I m/c last pg. Haven't called doc/ midwife to arrange appts or anything, just all feels too early.

Haven't told anyone (other than DH), I am seeing both sets of parents this weekend and I really don't want to tell them, but I do at the same time. Argggh. With last pg told my parents and brother day I got BFP, m/c'd 4 days later and felt like an idiot. When did you tell your nearest and dearest??

Fab news on the Downs risks Getdown and Terrys!

xx

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 25/03/2011 14:52

raven like you, i've had very few symptoms and they come and go. Very tired and one boob is sore but that's it. Am 6+2 today and enjoying early pg.

I've told my sister but that's all. Won't tell MIL or my mum until after the 12 weeks scan. MIL looks after DD 2 days a week as it is, so don't want to scare her!

We're off to Peppa Pig world this time next week with DD and MIL - we won 4 golden tickets for a preview day before it opens to the public so decided to make a trip of it (it's in Southampton and we're nr Chester). Want to enjoy that before dealing with all the childcare issues and qns with MIL. Cost of childcare is eye-watering.

But that's for another day. When do you think you'll see your GP Raven?

ravenlocks · 25/03/2011 18:34

Hey MrsA, great you are enjoying early pg and that is so sweet re Peppa Pig world, can't wait to have a little family to do things like that with.

Not sure re GP. I went to see her (and she was great) re TTC worries a couple of months ago and she said she looked forward to seeing me to register my pg when it came. But there are all these posters in the surgery which ask you to phone midwife centre when you discover you are pg - between the lines they say "don't waste our GPs time with an apt just to say you are pg - straight to the community midwife with you".

Might phone next wk and ask reception what I should do.

spilttheteaagain · 26/03/2011 09:50

That book sounds good pippa I might have a look for it.

Dopplers... I got mine from Amazon, it was about £60, but you can get much cheaper (and more expensive) ones. The cheaper ones generally just let you listen to the hb, the one I've got gives you the bpm on the screen which I like as I can be sure that I've got the baby's hb because of the rate. Also I can see if baby's heartrate has changed much etc. Mine is a Sonoline B Professional. I was scared about how panicked I would be if I couldn't find the hb quickly which was a big factor in waiting until I was nearly 18 weeks to order it. It's very sensitive to the angle you put the probe on your stomach at, just a tiny adjustment can make all the difference to picking up a clear signal (though you can often hear the hb faintly if you are near the right place).

raven amazing restraint to have only done one HPT! I did 3 on the first day and then tested daily for about 6 days... then every other day Blush Thank goodness for internet cheapies. I have now taped all my tests together in order and the line gets gradually darker Grin We told our parents at about 4 weeks this time, still haven't told grandparents at 19 weeks... I can't face the excitement and potential disappointment we could cause all over again (would be 1st great grandchild for all). I am going to a grandparent birthday gathering today disguised in a large jumper. Hopefully if anything it will be assumed I never lost the baby weight from last time.

Glad you're enjoying it so far MrsA.

Pippaandpolly · 26/03/2011 14:37

Thanks Spilt, that's really interesting. Might see if the midwife can hear hb at next appointment (assume she will look for it at 16 week appt?) and then think about it a bit more.

Know what you mean about still wanting to keep it quiet from some people-there are relatives we still haven't told. Have you got a bump now? Empire line dresses all the way!

On a more private Blush note, is anyone having issues with sex at the mo?! I am more up for it than ever before (mainly fuelled by extremely sexy dreams) but when we do it everything is so sensitive that I can hardly bear to be touched-it's as though the pleasure/pain boundary is doing something strange! It's very frustrating as I always end up just willing DH to get it over with because it's too much. But then I'm still horny and frustrated!!

nickstermum · 26/03/2011 20:30

Sorry pips dont do pregnancy and sex....Grin
DH has a hand :)

Pippaandpolly · 26/03/2011 22:43

Hah! I just snorted so loudly DH wanted to know what was going on. Might tell him...!

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 27/03/2011 08:20

Pippa I'm like you - last pg I was completely horny for the whole 9 months, couldn't get enough. This was looks like being the same. I wear DP out! Grin Wish we'd had this much sex drive when TTC!

ravenlocks · 27/03/2011 08:51

Uh oh. Just did CBD and said 'Pregnant 1-2 wks', gutted, conceived 2 weeks and 6 days ago so I know that is not a good sign. Did the bloody thing for some reassurance that by hormone levels were climbing and now am just panicky about the fact they are not!

Pippaandpolly · 27/03/2011 09:48

MrsA - it's so weird! You'd think on a biological level our bodies would already know we're pregnant so not need to bother with more sex...bizarre!

Raven - I think the hormone levels vary quite a lot from woman to woman and pregnancy to pregnancy - it doesn't necessarily mean bad news as far as I know. Hope you're ok. Maybe go to the doctor tomorrow and get them to do a blood test, then repeat in a few days?

LadyGoneGaga · 27/03/2011 12:11

Raven please don't panic! As Pippa says hormone levels can vary wildly from woman to woman. And also depends how dilute your wee is etc etc. I know it's all so nerve wracking, especially if you have had a loss before, but please try not to worry. You have no other signs things could be going wrong. I suggest you stop with the sticks because they are going to do nothing but worry you.

I'm with Nixon the no sex thing. But was rampant last pregnancy. So this too varies.

Cleaning the house from top to bottom again. Is like groundhog day - another house viewing tomorrow...

ravenlocks · 27/03/2011 15:42

Thanks guys, nothing to be achieved by worrying I know. Telling myself that last pg it took me a few days to get a BFP with a CBD so hoping I am just slow at showing the hormone levels.

On the sex thing, haven't done it since SWI, so been about 3 weeks. We both feel a bit wierd about doing it but hoping that doesn't last the whole time.

GetDownYouWillFall · 27/03/2011 19:38

raven I did my head in doing repeat tests and totally freaked myself out when I got one that was lighter than previous ones (despite using first morning urine). Had an early scan and all was fine and that put my mind at ease.

I know it's really upsetting and worrying but don't assume the worst. Maybe get yourself an early scan from about 6 weeks.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 28/03/2011 13:39

How are you feeling Raven? Hope things are going OK. I have my dating scan through - 20 April - but I'll only be 10 weeks! I suspect it's cos of all the bank hols in April.
Hey ho, it's at my lovely community hospital instead of the main big one, which is nice and much nearer.

Hope everyone doing OK.

GetDownYouWillFall · 28/03/2011 14:40

Hi mrsA at least you don't have too long to wait for your scan. I ended up having mine at over 13 weeks which felt like ages to wait, but then again, got to see more developed bean Smile I think the bank holidays have messed things up a bit - my 20 week scan is a bit early - 26th April and was told they were trying to fit them all in around the bank holidays.

My 20 week one is at my local community hospital, but the one I had at 13 weeks was at the big main one because they could only do the nuchal scans with the bigger equipment.

Have you got many symptoms? Mine have pretty much all gone now, including sore boobs, although they are quite veiny! Grin Also have been measuring my bump at widest point for some reassurance. On wednesday last week it was 83cm, and on friday it was 85cm!

Can't wait to feel some flutters. Keep thinking I can feel something but there is nothing definite yet.....

Thanks for the messages but sadly the worst has happened. Started bleeding about 8:30pm and still going. Just like last time but a couple of days later. I really can't believe it and am so numb.

[Sad]

Really want to know what the heck is wrong with me. My GP wasn't working today so going to try to get an apt tomorrow. Maybe one day I will have a baby and maybe I won't.

spilttheteaagain · 28/03/2011 17:51

oh raven Sad I am so sorry, what shitty awful bad luck. Am I right in thinking that this could be your third loss, and that the first was quite late? Really hope you can have a proper chat to a decent GP who can help start any tests or investigations. But for tonight, have a ((hug)) xx
