Hello ladies ? bit nerve wracking moving over to ante natal but thought I?d be brave! Here?s to a trouble free 8 or so months for us all! And hoping lots more of us move over very soon.

Step away from your thermometers ladies. That way madness lies.

Sits back. Feels a bit lonely. Waits for others.

I think you win just for the hour's nap Grin I haven't seen any of this series of OBEM (apart from the Christmas special) but I have seen quite a few '16 and Pregnant' episodes - which is just as awful as it sounds - and feature poor girls seemingly ALL being induced on their due dates. It's American so I wonder if that's just policy over there.

spilttheteaagain · 20/01/2011 19:51

And how is everyone this evening?

I have been booked in Smile

newyearsday · 20/01/2011 20:17

getdown I felt rough with the tiredness, nausea and headaches up to 13/14wks (I did find the symptoms reassuring though). I can't stop eating fruit - oranges taste DREAMY! I've been lucky it's been textbook normal so far, still a way to go though, hope the normal continues...

I've been doing antenatal yoga and swimming every week, really enjoy it, meet other mums-to-be and sleep really well afterwards zzzz

Pippaandpolly · 20/01/2011 20:19

Me too! I felt like a fraud as I don't look pregnant. I know that's ridiculous!

Did you see your GP or did they just let you book in with the midwife? I saw my GP and he's usually really mean but was nice today. I was surprised he didn't do a test - I guess the home ones are really accurate.

spilttheteaagain · 20/01/2011 20:29

1st time round I just phoned for a MW appointment at about 4 weeks and saw her that week and then saw her for booking in at about 9 weeks. This time I saw a GP first but that was due to some specific concerns, requesting blood tests and a consultant referral. Generally speaking I would go straight to MW.

Glad your GP was nice. I know exactly what you mean about feeling fradulent - I sort of feel like I'm not officially pregnant until I have a bump people will notice. Is that bonkers or what??!

With you on the oranges newyearsday. I have been eating them and guzzling orange juice from the start! How many weeks were you when you started your yoga? Was it for fun or do you have crappy joints/ligaments or anything?

Pippaandpolly · 21/01/2011 09:45

My God I cannot bear the Save the Children adverts at the moment. They turn me into a snivelling wreck. :(

GetDownYouWillFall · 21/01/2011 17:23

Hello all! Sorry I've been a bit quiet, have been trying not to do too much mentalling about the whole pg thing.

The nausea is barely there but boobs are sore so am hoping it's fine.

Do any of you ladies remember when the nausea kicked in? Is it normal to not really have any nausea (I am 6 weeks on sunday).

Just saw that raven got a BFP - whoo hoo!! I knew all that SWI commitment would pay off!

Hope you are all doing well.

I've booked an appt at the GP but earliest I could get was when I am nearly 8 weeks. Is that too late to get scheduled in for a 12 week scan?

OP posts:
spilttheteaagain · 21/01/2011 17:48

Should be ok for the scan I would think GetDown but if you are worried could you ask for a phone consultation and then hopefully they can book the scan straight away and then see you at 8 weeks for anything else?

1st time round I was sick from 5+3, this time from 6+2 (less sick this time as well). I think it's typical for MS to start around 6 weeks so I wouldn't worry about it not arriving yet.

Scan on Tues. I am excited and very scared.

GetDownYouWillFall · 21/01/2011 18:05

thanks spilt - thinking of you with your scan... how many weeks will you be?

It is so nerve wracking isn't it. I keep telling myself that the vast majority of times everything is fine, and it's only a small percentage when things go wrong. Hopefully we will all be in a majority this time with these new pregnancies!

OP posts:
spilttheteaagain · 21/01/2011 18:16

10 weeks on Sunday so should be 10+2 for the scan. At least it should be conclusive. I was putting it off as long as I could bear as I really didn't want to be told they weren't sure/couldn't get the HB yet, come back next week. It would be torture.

Terrifying indeed. I know this is a bit mad but part of me is fretting that because I got through the 1st tri last time then maybe I am "due" an earlier loss - like I might have used up my 1st tri luck.

Thank the lord it'd Friday. I am shattered! I've been under the duvet for the last hour. DH is cooking Smile

MS definitely on it's way out now as I am suggesting pasta for tea rather than heaving at the thought. I'm not sure why I get so repulsed by pasta in the early weeks but there we go.

GetDownYouWillFall · 21/01/2011 19:10

Well spilt I seem to remember you are quite young so chances of early MC for you are low, (most are due to chromosomal abnormalities often due to aging eggs). And even so the chances of first trimester MC is only about 10%. I'm sure you'll be ok. Just think how relieved you'll be when you see your little one there on the screen. Totally understand about the nerves though.

I am fretting about the lack of nausea, just wish there was some reassurance. I would quite like to book an early scan but I know they'd never offer me one on NHS so would have to be private. Think it's probably unnecessary but the desire for reassurance is so strong.

Glad to hear your nausea is easing (a thick question - what does "MS" stand for? Blush)

OP posts:
spilttheteaagain · 21/01/2011 19:15

Morning Sickness (just being lazy on the typing!)

I know I am being irrationally worried and thank you for the reassurance. It's just such a nerve wracking time and I try not to constantly worry out loud to DH. Understanding and lovely though he is, he did ask the other night if there was anything else we could talk about for a bit Blush

GetDownYouWillFall · 21/01/2011 19:33

Ah yes, morning sickness Blush of course!!

Don't worry I know just how you feel. I think because it's all going on in our bodies, it;s hard not to think about it all the time. Easier for the DH's in many ways.

~I sometimes have this irrational worry that if I lean over too much, or sit awkwardly I will somehow squash the baby and cause a MC Hmm that can't happen, can it?

Although it helps to talk about it, I also find that distracting yourself a lot helps too. E.g. yesterday I had a completely MN free day and went out and did lots of nice things and I hardly thought about it all day.

mrsa I missed your q re travelling on the last thread (good job I just went back to check the thread or you might think I was horribly rude!) As for travelling, with work I make sure I am only away for 1 or 2 nights, and that's ok, I would usually only see him for 1 hour a day, if that on a workday so I can cope. We have been away from him for 2 other periods, one 4 day holiday which was lovely to go away with just DH but I missed him a lot, and once when he stayed with my mum for 3 nights, that was the hardest. He is 2.2 now and I am missing him most as he is so much fun and developing each day. How old is DD? Are you away from her for a whole week or 5 days? I think it will be tough for you but maybe you can throw yourself into nice lie-ins and other things you couldn't do with her / at home to compensate?

TerrysNo2 · 21/01/2011 19:46

Uh oh, followed link from previous charters thread, that last one wasn't meant on here. Doh.

GetDownYouWillFall · 21/01/2011 19:59

Nooooooo terrys come back we love you!!! I'm sure you'll be here very soon anyway xxxx

OP posts:
spilttheteaagain · 21/01/2011 21:23

Hello terrys, feel free to talk to us here if you like, all are welcome Smile

Ok GetDown in return for your paranoia confession I will admit to being scared of having a "hard work" poo. I have this niggly fear that the baby will get squeezed out too Blush
We are both mad.
At this stage your uterus is in your pelvis, so no amount of squishing your stomach is going to make any difference. Might make you wet yourself though Grin

GetDownYouWillFall · 21/01/2011 21:36

Found you :) xxxxx

spilttheteaagain · 21/01/2011 22:19

Well done nix Smile

Pippaandpolly · 22/01/2011 09:07

I know I shouldn't be temping (slap wrist) but I am paranoid...does anyone think this up-and-down is a problem? I would have thought they should just stay high so I'm freaking out a little bit. chart here

On the note of paranoia, I woke up this morning lying on my front and immediately thought 'Oh no, I've squashed it!'

Pippaandpolly · 22/01/2011 09:09

Oh, also paranoid because my mother told me we shouldn't have sex in the early stages. Hmm I know this is advice from when she was pregnant in the early 80s and I know sex is ok, but now she's said it...argh.

GetDownYouWillFall · 22/01/2011 09:20

Yay hello to nix Smile

Right, pippa STOP temping now!!! Your temps still look really high anyway, flutuation is normal.

Have a look at my chart you can see why I was freaking out when the temps seemed to be on a downward slide, but by 13th Jan they were back up again.

I chose to call it quits there as the fluctuations were driving me mental. I think spilt had a similar chart where temps seemed to be dropping, but she is 10 weeks ish now and has had loads of symptoms. Temping after a BFP really doesn't tell you that much, other than to stress you out.

Re. the sex thing, I'm SURE it's not a problem. The only time it may be a problem is if you have a weak cervix I think, which is pretty unlikely. Everything I've read says sex is fine don't stress about it. The last thing you want is to sideline your DH making him think that now his job is done you're not interested anymore Grin

Well as for me, did my last CD digital today and it said 3+ hooray!!

OP posts:
GetDownYouWillFall · 22/01/2011 09:21

CB digital I meant Blush

OP posts:
spilttheteaagain · 22/01/2011 09:36

pippa as GetDown says I also had scary temps that looked like they were shooting down my chart. It was scary and not helpful at all and I'm glad I stopped. Reckon it's time you did too, YOU ARE PREGNANT!! Grin

Yey for 3+ weeks on the CB GetDown I bet that cheered you up no end.

pippa I know what you mean about sex. I know it shouldn't be an issue but I am scared. I insist on gentle and shallow on the odd occasions it happens. I know that when pregnant the cervix is softer/has more blood flow or something so it's not uncommon for it to bleed a tiny bit if it get bashed during sex. Whilst that sort of bleeding is nothing at all to worry about, I know I go into panic mode at the sight of anything that isn't white or cream so I try to avoid causing such issues!

I am reading about HypnoBirthing, tis fascinating. Little nuggets of info like when scared your body produces adrenalin and diverts blood flow to those muscles useful in the fight or flight scenarios. Since the uterus/giving birth is no help if running from or fighting tigers, blood is diverted away from it. This makes labour stall/slow. Much like when shocked you go pale faced as the blood drains away, apparently they have done sections on women whose uterus's are practically white as all the blood has gone elsewhere. Of course your uterus can't work to it's full potential with no blood and oxygen. Now I am hoping the next chapters explain how to stay uber calm and unscared!
