Hello ladies ? bit nerve wracking moving over to ante natal but thought I?d be brave! Here?s to a trouble free 8 or so months for us all! And hoping lots more of us move over very soon.

Step away from your thermometers ladies. That way madness lies.

Sits back. Feels a bit lonely. Waits for others.

Grin at 'froggy'!! Are you going to tell anyone shes a girlie before the birth or not tell anyone till she arrives?
I bet you are loving all the movements! I think I have been feeling movements for a week, kinda feels like when you flick your finger under water.

We are going to book a 4d scan for 28 weeks and we have a normal scan at the hospital at 32 weeks as my placenta is low so need to check it's moved.

MrsP81 · 18/05/2011 21:22

Awwww, congratulations iwish! That?s a lovely name too. Smile

And congratulations on your scan MrsA, everybody?s weeks seem to be flying by now.

Here?s hoping your baby decides to come out soon newyears!

I had my 16 week appointment with the midwife on Monday (when I was actually 17 weeks) and got to hear the heartbeat. Smile The baby was wriggling around a lot and you could hear it kicking. Three weeks to go until 20 week scan and we can?t decide whether to find out the sex or not. I keep changing my mind! It would be helpful for names as we?re really struggling with boys names so at least then we?d know if we need to continue trying to agree on one or not.

Sorry, not got any tips for backache spilt. It sounds like the sort of backache I get when I?m tense so maybe a nice relaxing bath would help. I?m suffering from a really blocked up nose and at night time I ?sound like a wind tunnel? according to my DH!

Iwish · 18/05/2011 21:44

Thanks MrsP! I've just just been surfing the Internet for stuff for my little man. Not bought anything as I want to go to the shops to buy lol.
Listening to the heartbeat is lovely isn't it. Makes you smile being able hear your little one wriggling around hehe.
Does your DH want to find out the sex? We both wanted to from the beginning so it was an easy decision for us :)

nickstermum · 18/05/2011 21:53

New years my si's went +18 days with both her boys.. With monitoring. Hosp birth tho as home birth was refused that late. Personally that far over I would rather have the induction :)

iWish congrats on team blue x
Ooh spilt will have a nosey now ;) haven't even thought of names... Really must get cracking.. Stuck for a boy!!
Lady Yey for 30 weeks hope all is well xx

Iwish · 19/05/2011 19:12

Hey nix honey! How are you feeling? Haha can't believe you havnt thought of names yet. Get cracking!

Feeling very soppy today. Been sat staring at my scan pic today thinking about how much I love my little boy already and how much I love DP. Such a lucky girl I am!

nickstermum · 19/05/2011 19:52

Too busy to think of names.... monster day ahead tomorrow... no rest for me these days!

28 week check up today all fine, measuring bang on dates. Despite being MASSIVE! WOOT!

Really need name inspiration, really dont want to just land him or her with just any old thing! Girls fine with - boys NOT! YEY for the blue bonding IWish!

Iwish · 19/05/2011 20:14

Woohoo measuring right on dates nix! and yey for the check up going well.
Do you have a feeling what sex your little one is? I'm sure the names will come to you soon enough.

LadyGoneGaga · 20/05/2011 11:30

Hello, hello. Just popping in briefly to say back from hols. Was lovely and chilled and now just have the moving house bit to face! Oh...and having a baby in about 9 weeks!!!

Hope everyone really well - need to read back to see how everyone has been doing.

Thanks for remembering when I passed 30 weeks Nix and Spilt - lots of landmarks for you both by the sounds of it too. I am still wavering on my boys name - got it down to two though I think. We like Franklin (Frankie nn) and Inigo at the moment. And Iris for a girl.

spilttheteaagain · 20/05/2011 13:32

Welcome back Lady glad you had a good time.

Great news on your checkup nix

I am an emotional loon today Sad and DH doesn't understand. Sobbed on the loo this morning for no apparent reason Hmm It's horrible when you just feel crappy sometimes.

On the bright side, he bought me a lovely sticky bun from the bakery to cheer me up Smile

LadyGoneGaga · 20/05/2011 13:56

Hugs Spilt, but at least you have a sticky bun Smile.

spilttheteaagain · 20/05/2011 14:01

I know, it ain't all bad Wink

nickstermum · 20/05/2011 17:43

Emotional loon... V envious of said sticky bun!!

Yey welcome home lady how was Crete?
mmmmm no idea on sex at all.. Worrying I am not connecting and this is due to not knowing the sex!! Am I being silly?

GetDownYouWillFall · 20/05/2011 19:13

Hello all!

Welcome back from hols Lady and hi to Iwish nice to see you back.

spilt I think we are living parallel lives at the moment, as I too have been stupidly emotional (crying at my 3 year old's story books) and also have hideous back ache (high up behind the back of my ribs). Although my life doesn't have a sticky bun in it Angry I did have a Greggs sausage roll earlier though Blush

Just spent hours cleaning, and am now suffering with terrible backache. Stupid idea housework!

Those of you struggling with boys' names - snap! I find boys' names really really hard. There are quite a few that are "ok" but none that I actually think "YES! I really like that!"

OP posts:
spilttheteaagain · 22/05/2011 22:14

Poor you GetDown, hope the backache has eased now and you've abandoned housework temporarily!

Did you know your DS was a boy nix or was he a surprise too?

I'm getting really worn out now, and feel quite pathetic about it! Looking forward to Aug/Sept and not being pregnant anymore. On the 31st May I will have been officially pregnant for a year, bar the 5-6 weeks between pregnancies in the autumn. And still have 3 months to go. I begin to understand what an elephant must feel like... I miss feeling like I own my own body if that makes sense? I've got so into the habit of considering whether food/drink is ok to have, not just if I fancy it, being careful physically about what I do, being on restricted duties at work, giving up my gardening Sad. I don't begrudge my babies any of this, but I do miss having my body just as mine??

Looking forward to sex that doesn't result in panics about causing damage, looking forward to sleeping on my stomach, looking forward to not getting out of breath the whole time and being able to sit in a chair for more than one hour without wincing at the backache.

But I shall miss the baby kicks, they are just lovely
And having boobs. I quite like that too Grin

LadyGoneGaga · 23/05/2011 08:24

Don't worry, Spilt - if you breastfeed you get to keep the boobs for a while. And if really lucky you may get rid of your belly before the boobs go away Grin.

spilttheteaagain · 23/05/2011 17:45

Had a checkup today and boo hiss I have something suspect in my urine which they have sent off to test - possible infection. I feel absolutely shattered and very achy. Sleeping badly now.

I'm a bit perplexed to be honest because the consultant said today that because I'm on thyroxine that means they want me on the consultant led unit for delivery. I'm not totally against this - they were fab in October, but I really did want to try a waterbirth. He did say that they wouldn't be wanting to do CFM or anything, so I'm not sure I understand the need really? Fair enough that they want to keep me and baby in for about 24 hours post delivery so they can get a paed to check her over thoroughly incase there are any toxo issues that weren't visible on the scan, I'm fine with that, and happy to be moved down to the CLU ward after delivery. Obviously I am also happy to be moved to the CLU if problems occur (it's only downstairs from the MLU!), I'm not intending to dig my heels in and demand a waterbirth at any cost, but I don't see why I can't try it to start with.

I'll talk it over with my MW when I see her next month - she's very pro homebirth and I think would support my wish to be in the MLU.

We went into Babies R Us for the first time to have a bit of a look at prams etc and felt utterly bewildered. Also like I shouldn't be there! Couldn't work out what the dickens each of the pram contraptions could do, or why some are £99 and some are £400. Argh! I think I need to do some googling... and then maybe we should go to John Lewis and throw ourselves on their mercy and ask for help! At least today we have learnt that we need a Group 0 carseat
And why in God's name are changing mats festooned with Winnie the pooh and costing £12?! They are for cleaning up poo on!

GetDownYouWillFall · 23/05/2011 18:55

Sorry to hear about the possible infection spilt Sad Does it sting to wee at all? Or is it not that kind of infection? Hope it turns out to be nothing or easily resolved.

Re. your birth experience, are you sure the consultant led unit doesn't have water birth facilities? Round here the hospitals mostly have pools, as well as the MLUs. I don't see any reason why thyroxine issue should preclude you from having a water birth if that is what you want Confused

I am under the consultant too, and I'm quite annoyed about it, since all the "complications" I had with DD were basically caused by what they did to me, rather than any issues about me such as high BP or the like. It's quite annoying because like with DD, this pregnancy seems pretty straightforward so far and there are no other reasons to be under the consultant, apart from the trauma I experienced last time during the labour, thanks to all the stuff that they did. Grrr.

My hypnobirthing CD and book are on the way Grin plus I have just ordered a stack of Bumgenius Flip nappies Grin

I am with you on the bewilderment of the pram-choosing. I was there 3.5 years ago. It took DH and I about 3 trips to Mothercare to finally get our head around what we wanted / needed. In the end we went for a Silver Cross something or other which seemed to convert into various positions and also worked with the car seat. Suited us fine, but had to move onto a light Maclaren buggy when she was about 6 months old - sooooo much lighter and easier to lug around! Glad we don't have to go through all that pram buying stuff again though!

Have you narrowed down your search at all yet?

spilttheteaagain · 23/05/2011 20:17

GetDown we are interested in this travel system Would love to know anyone's thoughts - whether there are obvious annoyances/limitations that we might not have thought of.

Birth wise. What is available here is a standalone MLU, or the hospital. The hospital has both a ML birth centre and a CLU which are on the 1st and 2nd floor of the maternity building, ML above CL. It's the ML birth centre at the hospital that I want to use. There are 2 pools in the hospital, both in the ML unit and only available to those who are in the ML unit. I have to admit to being mistrustful of the CLU and scared of being told, oh we'll just attach the monitor for a bit, oh dear now you're lying down your labour has slowed, oh look the baby's heart rate changes with the contractions, right let's intervene... the classic cascade of intervention.

LadyGoneGaga · 23/05/2011 20:54

Spilt as you know I am on Thyroxine as well. What they did with me is monitor me under Consultant but when everything was fine at 34 weeks they transferred me back to midwife led care. From there you can do what you like. The only stipulation they made was for me to have a managed third stage as they didn't want to risk bleeding. I attempted a homebirth although ended up with an instrumental birth in hospital anyway. Going for homebirth again this time provided all is well at my 34 week Consultant appt.

spilttheteaagain · 23/05/2011 21:19

This is partly why I was so puzzled Lady as I remembered you and that you'd started at home last time. To be honest I was taken by surprise by his comments and sort of missed the opportunity to ask/query it, but I will do next time.

Iwish · 24/05/2011 20:43

Hi lovely ladies. How are you all.

split Im on thyroxine too but they have put me on midwife care. They did uum and aah before they decided tho. Maybe it's just different for different areas.

getdown hope you are ok? Have you got girls names since you are struggling with boys names? We had both before we found out the sex.

Hey lady hope you are good.

Waves to every one else too.

Well I'm pretty sure I'm feeling my little boy giving me a good old kick. I always seem to feel him just after I've had my tea, must like food like mummy and daddy lol Grin

When i went for my scan the sonographer said that i need to go back at 32 weeks for another scan because the placenta is low - overlying the OS! Hope it moves!! Do any of you know much about that?

GetDownYouWillFall · 24/05/2011 21:01

Hi there Iwish! I think in the majority of cases a low-lying placenta moves up of its own accord. But occasionally it can stay low in which case it is safer for you to have an elective c-section because of the risk of bleeding. How would you feel about that? Hopefully it will move though. At least it will be nice to have another scan, something to look forward to.

Yes we've got a girls name. Just can't settle on a boys name! It's so tricky! There is one I really like but it's not common and I'm just not sure.

Great you are feeling your little boy kicking! It's lovely and reassuring isn't it.

Hey ladies!! We are going to need a new thread soon, this one has nearly reached 1000 messages!

OP posts:
Iwish · 24/05/2011 21:23

New thread here ladies

I would prefer not to have a c-section getdown. If it is the only safe way to get my little man out tho I would go for it. Will be keeping my fingers crossed it moves and it will be fab to get another scan.

Yeh I'm really loving feeling him kick, just wish he would do it hard enough for DP to hear lol. He was sat there with his hand on my tummy for ages and he didn't kick once but as soon as he moved his hand little one started again :)

If you like your boys name and your DH likes it I think you should go for it. Sometimes unusual is good too.
Have you started getting stuff for your little one?
