Hello ladies ? bit nerve wracking moving over to ante natal but thought I?d be brave! Here?s to a trouble free 8 or so months for us all! And hoping lots more of us move over very soon.

Step away from your thermometers ladies. That way madness lies.

Sits back. Feels a bit lonely. Waits for others.

Hey MrsP, yes 6+4 from lmp, and you are right, I did ov a bit early last cycle! CD11.

I feel like I am eating constantly already, to try and keep the nausea at bay - bagels, muffins, crumpets.....and grapes! But then I am eating so much that is probably making me feel sick in itself - I just can't win Grin

Iwish · 01/03/2011 20:15

It's not nice is it digi I feel all bunged up and bloated, yuk.
When do you usually get an appt through the post for the 12week scan? I thought I would have had an appt by now- I want a date to look forward to!

spilttheteaagain · 01/03/2011 20:18

Blimey it's been busy in here today! Sorry you're feeling so sick tory it is vile. In answer to your question of what to do about work etc, hmmm it's hard. I actually found though both times that after a couple of weeks of occasional queasiness then the sickness hit one day like a truck and was bleeding awful. But after about 3 days in bed it became workable with. Still totally miserable and tough, but I was able to work (albeit getting in half an hour late).

Things that helped me - plenty of rest and sleep, don't overdo it, tiredness will make it worse. I booked Wednesday's off for a few weeks so that I could break the working week up and have a day of rest midweek.
Keeping blood sugar up as getting hungry made the nausea get worse - orange juice very good for an instant effect if you've left it a bit late and now the thought of actual eating is too much!
Only eat what you fancy however unbalanced a diet that gives you (take prenatal vits to assauge guilt about this!).
Keep hydrated esp if you are being sick. Really cold water went down best. Crunching ice also was good. The smell of lemons had a de-nauseating effect for me so a slice of lemon in icy water was a favourite.
Repeat "this too shall pass". Alternatively when stoicism is asking too much, lie by toilet and cry "please, just let me die". Equally comforting! Grin Good luck.

Hurrah for all the constipation, I'm glad it is not just me... I seem to have a real problem with weekends. I seem to have things under control during the week (not really sure how/why) and then at the weekend I Can. Not. Poo. I went from Fri morn to late Monday last week with nadda and then halved in size on Monday afternoon!

nickstermum · 01/03/2011 20:33

Ive been constipated, added to IBS not good!

Re constipation, ive been talking to the health visitors about DS as he holds, gets constipated then it compacts.

Apple juice works the same as lactolose. (same as prue juice) so for anyone out there who needs something but like me hates prunes.... here you go!! Plenty of fluids, apple juice and it should help... certainly has worked for DS!!! Grin

Just watched OBEM.... Why did i do it!??! :)

digitalgirl · 02/03/2011 00:48

nickster how old is your ds? My ds witheld - was very unpleasant for all of us as he was so uncomfortable the day after going that it would affect his mood and he'd tantrum quite viciously. No amount of lactulose, coaxing and bribing would help change his mind about going. The lactulose only seemed to bring on the urge more but that just made him more upset. He had it for about 6 months, then suddenly decided he was ready to be toilet trained (at 2.3) and within days of happily seeing for stickers he was pooing with abandon (on the loo). Made such a change in his personality too - more confident and chatty and generally a much happier little boy.

I went to bed at 8:30 - got up at 12 to brush my teeth and now I'm wide awake.

digitalgirl · 02/03/2011 00:49

peeing for stickers

LadyGoneGaga · 02/03/2011 00:51

I am up calming self down, Digi. Had a little fall down the stairs about an hour ago. Think am ok as fell on bottom but shaken up and weepy. Have scan on Friday anyway, doppler shows heartbeat - no point being checked out before I don't think. No cramping or pain or bleeding or anything touch wood.

Withholding sounds horrid, Digi. Poor little guy. Glad he's a seasoned poo-er now!

digitalgirl · 02/03/2011 00:58

Oh ladyg must have been a shock. I think I'd have a cry even if I wasn't pg. Am pretty sure baby is well cushioned (as were you by the sounds of it). Cup of camomile and a biscuit might be in order.

GetDownYouWillFall · 02/03/2011 08:44

Sorry to hear you had a fall Lady - what a horrible shock. Hope you are ok. I'm sure baby is ok. If you landed on your bottom baby will be fine. Can understand you being shaken up though. Hope you managed to get some sleep.

I had a much better night last night thank goodness, feel almost normal again! Gosh how will I ever survive the newborn days again?!

Iwish how annoying about your appt getting cancelled again! Hope the one on Friday def happens. I would start hassling them now re your 12 week scan - don't leave it to chance. I wish I'd started hassling mine earlier, but GP assured me they would contact me. They didn't.

I've got my booking in appt on friday!

Pippaandpolly · 02/03/2011 08:53

Hope you're ok Lady? The shock of something like that is bound to make you upset. Try and keep your feet up for a bit if you feel a bit weepy.

I think I'm very lucky compared to some of you ladies with regard to health services - the system in North Yorkshire is very clear. i.e. see gp, make booking in appt through him/her, midwife tells you date to phone hospital to book scan. I think it's ludicrous that it's not the same standard all over the country - how is the NHS national if it keeps some people hanging on like that!? Angry on your behalfs.

TerrysNo2 · 02/03/2011 09:45

LadyG hope you are ok? I had a fall with DS when I was 8 weeks - also on my bum - but he is fine! Sure the baby is well cushioned.

Glad you finally have an apt GetDown like Pippa says the variance of NHS care is astounding. Its very efficient in Surrey - go to GP, then 1/2 weeks later you get a letter with nuchal scan and booking in appointments. Last time I remember getting my 20 week scan date before I'd even had my 12 week one!

Hope everyone has a good day. x

LadyGoneGaga · 02/03/2011 10:03

Thanks ladies. Think am ok. Arm a bit stiff from where I tried to brace myself on way down. Just shakes you really. Got scan Friday anyway so hopefully all will be ok.

Finally Getdown - like Pippa the system in Warwickshire very straightforward - you fill in a form at the Doctors and the midwife contacts you with a booking appt at 10 weeks. The hospital send you your scan appt automatically. But we only really have one feasible hospital so I guess that simplifies matters.

Oh Nix - hope OBEM didn't traumatise you too much. Was happy in the end but god, did it make me cry getting there.

digitalgirl · 02/03/2011 10:31

Glad you're feeling better ladyg and also getdown

I'm 7+4 today, which is the day I started miscarrying last time. Still have backache from yesterday, but no cramping yet. Am very very nervous though.

Haven't actually gone to the GP this time to register as I went straight to the consultant at my EPU - so not quite sure what's happening with booking in and 12 week scans. Can't quite think that far.

TerrysNo2 · 02/03/2011 10:41

Hope today goes by without any worries digi! xxx

LadyGoneGaga · 02/03/2011 10:51

Have everything crossed for you, Digi. Hope the next few weeks go by for you in a really boring and textbook fashion xxx

Iwish · 02/03/2011 10:54

Hi all.

ladyg I hope you are feeling ok after your fall. I bet it did shake you up a bit. X

getdown I'm glad you had a better night last night :). Oh I wont be leaving it given the track record for these appts. I'm going to try and book it on Friday when I go.
Can't believe your booking appt is Friday! They need a good kick in the ass the NBA in your neck of the woods.

Waves to everyone else.

I'm in a crap mood. Been quite moody for the last few days, don't want to be at work and I just keep worrying that my symptoms have gone. im going to mention it on Friday too - not like they will do anything. I wish I could just see in my body that my little one is ok. Sorry guys I'm just feeling unhappy!

Iwish · 02/03/2011 10:56

Sorry cross post. digi Hope everything goes ok, have my FX xx

Pippaandpolly · 02/03/2011 11:11

Digi and Iwish - thinking of you both, keep chins up as far as possible. (I read yesterday that it is impossible to be upset if you stretch your arms over your head...?!?! No idea if it's true. Worth a shot?!)

Iwish · 02/03/2011 11:49

Thanks pippa honey. I think I will be far happier when I have been for my appt on Friday. Is feeling moody then upset the usual hormones in pregnancy?
Think if o sat with my arms in the air my colleagues would think I'm a loony. X

TerrysNo2 · 02/03/2011 17:39

CB Digi 3 weeks +

Iwish · 02/03/2011 17:43

Grin terrys, excellent!

Lady so sorry about the fall, that must have been horrible. Glad to hear you both seem to be ok and thank goodness for your scan on Friday to put your mind at rest.

Iwish moody, upset and supersensitive sounds about right! I reckon I am hell to live with but DH swears not GrinWink

Iwish · 02/03/2011 20:16

Oh good I'm glad it's not just me split. I think I've been a bit of a b1tch and have to stop myself being too mean lol. Luckily dp puts it down to hormones, bless him.

digitalgirl · 02/03/2011 21:20

Off to bed soon Smile have made it through the day!
