Hello ladies ? bit nerve wracking moving over to ante natal but thought I?d be brave! Here?s to a trouble free 8 or so months for us all! And hoping lots more of us move over very soon.

Step away from your thermometers ladies. That way madness lies.

Sits back. Feels a bit lonely. Waits for others.

Hello! Grin Grin Grin

nickstermum · 23/02/2011 09:18

Terrys Yey for the bfp :) :) :)

How are you doing? Welcome to the terrifying world of pg post mc, a different type of mentalling and knicker checking :)

Good to see you x

GetDownYouWillFall · 23/02/2011 10:31

Wow Terrys Grin Congratulations! That?s f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c!!! It seems to be a bit of a pattern among many of us post MC to get a BFP after the first complete cycle. Bet you are thrilled!

nix is right ? it?s a whole new world of mentalling. Can?t really believed I spent £75 on an early scan, when with DD I was so laid back, but I think it was worth it.

Thanks everyone for your reassuring words re. the blood. I?ve had no more since, and am wondering if it could have been just a little bit from SW(out)I at the weekend Blush who knows! Ah well ???.Must. Not. Stress.

Am going to ring the hospital again today as still no scan date or m/w appointment Angry

Mrsp - yay you are in Herts too! Hope you have a better experience than me regarding getting an appointment!! Grin

Getdown,.. maybe friable cervix irritation? Post sex seems quite common... Hence i refrain for 9 months Grin

Spilt need your help...... not sure but i need some information as to what piles are......argh :( just to see...and to rule it out Confused

GetDownYouWillFall · 23/02/2011 11:22

Ah nix piles ? I can help you there. They are a pain in the backside ? literally.

Particularly common if not your first pregnancy, and if (like me) you have a knackered pelvic floor. It?s where blood vessels push through the muscle wall around your, ummm, anus, and appear as lumps, or like little bunches of grapes.

They can get quite painful and can bleed a bit too. You have to try not to strain when doing a poo as this can make them protrude even more. Apparently in a warm bath you can push them back in with your finger Blush I think they pop out again though Angry

Not sure if you can actually get rid of them, but I think you can get some creams that are soothing. I?ve not had mine looked at as am too embarrassed Blush

Do you think you have them?

OP posts:
nickstermum · 23/02/2011 11:29

Atm i just have little teeny spots of blood. bit of pain and have been a little constipated due to spatone Hmm no lumps yet... pelvic floors not good and not first pg! It took a while to work out yest where the pin head spots of blood were from.. but def not fanjo... as i am constantly still wiping Blush Grin. Thanks for the info, will keep an eye on it... and hope that they dont become piles Confused

Iwish · 23/02/2011 11:55

Welcome terrys!! xx

getdown so glad you have no mire blood.

nix I sometimes have pin prick bits of blood on the paper. Think it's from trying too hard tho Blush sorry TMI

Just a quick post... I have an appt with a consultant on Friday for my thyroid. Any idea what that entails for those who have thyroid issues?

LadyGoneGaga · 23/02/2011 13:17

Terrys so, soo pleased you got your BFP!!! Yay!!! I got BFP first proper cycle after mc too.

Getdown sounds like could have just been from the SWIing though. so annoying you've had no contact yet though.

Nix could be an anal fissure rather than piles. I have them occasionally and had a horrendous one after having MiniG. As it sounds really. If it hurts you can get a suppository from Dr to help it heal.

Iwish is this a thryoid specialist or an Obstretris Consultant? I've never seen a specialist for mine but with the Obstetric Consultant they will just check your bloods and discuss rest of your care plan with you.

TerrysNo2 · 23/02/2011 13:45

Oh gosh, I am really on a pregnancy thread now aren't I - piles are being mentioned!! Grin

Why does this awful word make me so happy?!?! Grin

LadyGoneGaga · 23/02/2011 13:54

When are you due, Terrys?

GetDownYouWillFall · 23/02/2011 14:21

Please would you indulge me in another fuming rant about how CRAP my antenatal services are?? Angry Breathe, breathe, breathe.

ARRRRGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhh Just got off the phone I am so angry Angry They are all bl**dy idiots. Bearing in mind I am nearly 11 weeks pregnant, and I have had NO CONTACT whatsoever from ANYONE.

I have to do ALL the chasing. No one actually cares at all.

I rang my surgery last week - "nothing to do with us, ring the hospital". So I rang the hospital. They don't deal with bookings at my local hospital. But she assured me she would pass it on.

So I wait ANOTHER WEEK. Still nothing.

So I ring them again today. Only have a switchboard number for the main hospital. Ask to be put through to local hospital where they do the scans. Wait and wait and wait. Finally someone answers. Then have to be put through AGAIN to antenatal bookings. It rings and rings and rings. Left it ringing for 5 WHOLE MINUTES. No one answers. Not even an answerphone Angry

So I ring back the switchboard - "can I have the direct number for antenatal please as they are not picking up" - them: "no, because they don't have a number" Hmm WHAT?>???! They don't have a number? "No, you have to ring switchboard". Angry

So I go through the whole process of being put through to different places 3 times AGAIN. Only for the phone to ring and ring again. Doesn't divert back to switchboard. I am so fuming.

Left it a bit, thinking "no give them the benefit of the doubt, it's lunchtime". Ring back half an hour later same story.

FINALLY get through to someone. She has done me a letter - HURRAH I think! But - GET THIS - their letters are SENT OUT BY A VOLUNTEER, who isn't in today, so it won't go out today, and probably won't get to me till after the weekend Angry Angry a[angryu]

SO I say, can you give me the DATE of the appointment? Yes 4th March. Great I say, do I need a full bladder? "Oh no, this isn't your scan date" - WHAT?????? - this is your booking in date. If you want a scan you have to ring THIS number....... Angry

But you've probably missed the slot now for a nuchal scan Angry as you are over 12 weeks. No, I'm not, I say, I am 11 weeks this weekend. "But according to your LMP you are nearly 13 weeks" - "But I have long cycles and I KNOW when I ov'd - I know my dates" - oh but we go by LMP - WHAT???!?!!!!!!!!! Angry

Eventually she said "ok if you want to go by what you think YOUR dates are that's up to you" Hmm Errr lady, I think I know my dates thanks Hmm So she gives me a scan date right at the END of the period you are allowed to have them for the nuchal scan. And the icing on the cake - it's not at my local hospital, it's at the big main one.

Thank you I say. Do I get a letter confirming my scan date and where I am supposed to go? "Oh no we don't normally send out letters". Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

Excuse me, am I being unreasonable here or IS THIS JUST CRAP????????????

OP posts:
GetDownYouWillFall · 23/02/2011 14:23

Breathe.

OP posts:
nickstermum · 23/02/2011 14:32

Fecking nora GD....YES Breathe!
Cant you just go to a different hospital if they are so crap!? Solution. Done. Dusted :)

GetDownYouWillFall · 23/02/2011 14:38

The next nearest hospital is in a different county nix and in the words of my GP "that could get complicated" - flipping heck, if this isn't complicated I dread to think what it would be like if I went outside the county I actually live!!!!

OP posts:
nickstermum · 23/02/2011 14:47

It does seem particularly crap yes! Rubbish in fact.. dont envy you at all....!

TerrysNo2 · 23/02/2011 14:51

Oh GetDown I am so sorry for you - that is rubbish, I am always really surprised at the inconsistency of care across the NHS. I tried to book straight with a MW in December but was told you had to see the GP first. FWIW I don't think the Nuchal Scan being at the end of the period is bad as long as its within in - and you do know your dates which helps. Please relax and breathe and have a Brew. And we are always here for venting!

LadyG if you go by OV then I am due on 4th Nov but by LMP it is 2nd Nov which is the exact same day as DS!! And if its as late as he was then they will have the same birthday!

Oh god, getting so excited and I feel much more positive about it this time. Has anyone else felt differently early on during MC or non-MC PGs (IYSWIM Confused)?

Iwish · 23/02/2011 17:32

ladyg I'm not sure. The lady on the phone just said consultant. She seemed in a rush to get me off the phone and seemed a bit annoyed with me for non turning up last week to an appt that noone had actually informed me of lol. Maybe its the obtretris consultant you mentioned.. I'll find out on Friday I suppose.

getdown that is rediculous!! I was Angry reading your post. They need to get their acts together the bunch of monkeys!!

terrys you are right to get all excited. I'm all excited for you x

Waves to nix

Told my boss the news today and she was happy, told her to keep her trap shut though. At least she can help me hide my not drinking when we go out next weekend :).

Iwish · 23/02/2011 18:49

Can I just share with you all that nobbly bobbly ice lollies are the most amazing things in the world!! Grin Grin

spilttheteaagain · 23/02/2011 18:56

Oh my goodness!! terrys !! {grin] Congratulations m'dear Grin I have a massive daft grin on my face now, so chuffed for you. Welcome and make yourself comfy.

Right ladies, we have lots of new bumps so it must be about time we updated our list yes? Also if you want to put your next appt/scan or whatever on please do, it's nice to keep track of what's happening for people.

GetDown that is unbelieveably crap. I would be incandescent if I had been on the phone all day sorting that lot out. (Though I did giggle at all your red faces!) Move to Gloucestershire, they're great here Smile

Nix I see you have been well informed about the lovely piles from GetDown! If it's just a bit of blood but no protruding things you may have an anal fissure aka small tear which is also really sore and bleeds a little but should heal within a few days unless it's a really awful one. Piles should be visible if you have them if you lie in front of a mirror and have a look. Sort of little bulges around your anus (God that sounds so rude. I can say boobs and sex and vagina and allsorts but "anus" and I think I am going to be told off!) If you do have them then do everything you can to clear the constipation! I find 2+ kiwis a day seems to help, lots of water, fibre etc and absolutely no straining. Breathe and relax and it will happen Grin
(terrys aren't you looking forward to this?!)

Well done telling your boss Iwish, that's always a moment.

Ooh and I have had a proper talk to HR today and to my utter delight found that (contrary to rumour) if I resign after ML I don't have to pay any of the enhanced pay back at all Grin Hurrah! So I feel slightly placated now after the redundancy teaser.

Just occurred to me today that I have now been pregnant for over 34 of the last 39 weeks and still have hardly any bump to show for it AngrySad Better help things along with some chocolate.

Hope digi and MrsP and pippa are all ok too x

And yeh it was a very gulp moment but just decided I wasn't going to say anything, just gave her my letter from Fridays appointment. She was pleased phew.

terrys re the positivity - nope! I have been terrified for the last 16 weeks (well 12 weeks) and on constant fanjo wiping and knicker checking :( so far so good though and heartbeat clearly audible through doppler - Hoorah :) Well done for being positive - i am a glass half empty GAL :)

Thanks for the piles info.. no grapes or bulges but i cant say i have yet looked or felt. Just painful, and bits of blood in pants which horrified me yest... but i soon established where it was from :) as long as not from fanjolina!

getdown i did have a chortle to myself too with all your red faces earlier...I hope you dont think i was unhelpful... i was mid-meltdown myself!

I was compartmentalising this ok.. but Monday is my MC due date and i havent been thinking about it at all, then in the car this aft something triggered it and the flood gates opened...my friend is booked in for her CSection on that day too...! Either that or hormones :(

I am battling a little bit with rage and snappyness this week i have to say... feeling crappola too which has not helped the short temperedness! Note to self... must try harder :)

Well done on telling work iwish :) good job x

GetDownYouWillFall · 23/02/2011 19:38

Sorry about earlier Blush I know it was very self-indulgent of me to go into an angry rant like that, but I sure did feel better afterwards!! Also moaned about it to DH on the phone (he is away at the mo) so bent his ear too! At least I have a date now, so that is something.

Hope it's not piles nix - but they are very common so nothing to worry about. Just a minor irritation really. Sorry to hear you are feeling a bit snappy this week. Not surprising with the fact your due date is coming up, also sad about your friend having her baby on the same day, that is pants timing. Hugs to you.

Congratulations again terrys!

getdown that is very crap indeed, think I better get myself off to the doctors pronto in case I have the same problem. We have also just bought a new house so in the next couple of months I will be hopping over the border from North Herts to South Cambs. I can imagine I'm going to have all sorts of fun and games with that!

Well done on telling your boss iwish.

Thats good news about your enhanced pay spilt.

I managed to do less knicker checking today [proud emoticon]. Lady G you were definitely right when you said waiting for 12 weeks would be a loooooooong time!
