Hello ladies ? bit nerve wracking moving over to ante natal but thought I?d be brave! Here?s to a trouble free 8 or so months for us all! And hoping lots more of us move over very soon.

Step away from your thermometers ladies. That way madness lies.

Sits back. Feels a bit lonely. Waits for others.

Iwish · 14/02/2011 08:19

Woohoo to split you are in the second trimester!! :)

LadyGoneGaga · 14/02/2011 08:38

Yay, Spilt!!!

GetDownYouWillFall · 14/02/2011 12:39

How are you all doing today?

I've got a private scan booked for wednesday this week. Just really need to know one way or the other.

OP posts:
LadyGoneGaga · 14/02/2011 13:10

Doing ok thanks, Getdown apart from a poorly car so had to take into garage Sad. But minor stuff.

I think you're doing the right thing having a private scan. Hopefully will put your mind at ease. It's so hard when you've had a loss. I'm still not relaxed despite feeling movements and having a doppler! Think will hopefully feel better after 20 week scan - which is 2 weeks on Friday!!!

Hope everyone else is well.

nickstermum · 14/02/2011 13:28

Feeling ok thanks GD... would be better after undisturbed sleep! DH let DS (age3) watch the first half hour of Harry Potter 1st film last night (no scary bits) but it obviously affected him as he woke up screaming in the night saying he was frightened.... GAH! MEN!

Feeling pretty good, think have had a bug. (DS had one over the weekend) Feeling v lethargic though so may have to start taking spa-tone to give myself some energy.

Other than that all good in chez nicks!

Iwish · 14/02/2011 13:29

getdown I am glad you have booked your early scan. It will put your mind at rest xx

Wow ladyg 2 weeks till the 20 weeker! Are you going to find out the sex?

I feel like sh*te. Would love to go home and go to sleep - didn't feel sick when I was asleep lol.

(((hugs))) to you all xx

GetDownYouWillFall · 14/02/2011 14:45

Sorry you are feeling so rough Iwish.

Glad you are feeling ok nix but sad for your little DS... my DD is 3 too and I think Harry Potter would be a bit much for her too!

Hope your car gets sorted out soon Lady I hate it when anything goes wrong with mine, it's stressful isn't it.

Does anyone know, at 9.5 weeks will I need an internal scan, or can they just do it abdominally??

OP posts:
nickstermum · 14/02/2011 15:06

9.5 weeks will be external i would have thought... mine was at 8 :)

LadyGoneGaga · 14/02/2011 16:29

I've had scans from 6 weeks in past and never had an internal so most likely will be external.

Not going to find out sex, Iwish. I like a surprise!

Car sounds much less expensive than thought it could have been so quite relieved!

Spatone great for a bit of energy, Nix - hope it works for you.

spilttheteaagain · 14/02/2011 16:55

Thanks everyone Smile

Not overly enamoured with the 2nd trimester so far... I had a surprise vomit this morning (surprise because I've not been sick for about 2.5 weeks) and it was so violent it came out my nose! Ah well. No nausea which is lovely.

Sorry you are feeling so rubbish Iwish, I really do sympathise, it's just so horrible and no one properly understands unless they've been through it (and fairly recently!). Hope you can get an early night. Let your DH sort out domestic things.

Well done for booking a scan GetDown, really hoping it is good news and you can feel all relieved... for about 2 days before the worrying sets back in. At least you shouldn't have to wait long between this scan and your official dating one.

pippa and digi are you ok?

GetDownYouWillFall · 14/02/2011 17:03

Thanks spilt for your good wishes, I really hope you're right. I know the chances of two MCs in a row is quite small so am holding on to that fact.

Can't help thinking that a faint test with FMU at 9 weeks pregnant is not good news though... Sad. We'll see. Just have to try and keep positive I guess.

GetDownYouWillFall · 14/02/2011 17:04

Oh and thanks to everyone else re. internal scans - am relieved that it hopefully will be external only Smile

OP posts:
Iwish · 14/02/2011 18:29

Thanks getdown I am happy for the symptom IYSWIM but all day nausea is harsh lol. Keep positive I'm sure everything will be ok, please let us know how the scan goes.

ladyg Ooh a surprise. I admire you being as to keep as a surprise. I already want to know and I'm only 6+3! and glad your car didn't cost a fortune, more money to spend on baby :)

Thanks split. It is horrible and am eating biscuits to make me feel better but if I have to look at another biscuit I may well scream haha. I reckon I'll be in bed by 10 and won't get up till 7:30 so should be a nice amount of sleep for a work night.
Eek at your violent puke! At least you felt better afterwards. Looks like baby is just playing up for mummy lol.

Well I've had a letter from my local hospital today with an appt for 15th march when I'll be 10+4 looks like it's just bloods and they will arrange the scan after that appt. It does say in big letters 'your scan will be arranged for your next visit'.

nickstermum · 14/02/2011 19:11

I found weetabix by the huge bowlful sprinkled with sugar filled me up and kept the nausea at bay from the morning til bedtime.. i was having 4 in the morn and 4 at bedtime though Blush

Iwish · 14/02/2011 20:38

Oooh I dont think I could eat weetabix, the texture might just be a bit much.
How are you nix?

Do you think they will listen to the heartbeat when I go for my appt as I'll be 10weeks?

spilttheteaagain · 14/02/2011 20:58

In my experience they won't Iwish - my MW doesn't listen to HB until the 16 week appointment. Some places wait until after 20 weeks.

Lady what sort of doppler did you get and would you recommend it? Does it tell you the FHR or not?

nickstermum · 14/02/2011 22:17

Mine was 14 weeks Wish. 10 is too early.

LadyGoneGaga · 15/02/2011 08:45

It's an Angelsounds one. OK but bit cheapo tbh. Doesn't tell you heartrate. Think if was buying again would spend a bit more and get a better quality one - think they hold good resale value for Ebay.

They definitely won't listen to heartbeat at 10 weeks, Iwish. Much too early yet, sorry Sad

Pippaandpolly · 15/02/2011 13:23

Hi everyone, sorry to drop off the thread again. I'm feeling a bit rubbish - nausea is quite all consuming at the moment and have just started to experience the tiredness full on. My job involves working till 11pm 4 nights per week and 9pm another two and it's killing me. Can't imagine doing this all the way through the pregnancy Shock

Getdown, hope all goes well tomorrow. Will keep my fingers crossed for you - am still tempted to book one myself.

Split, second trimester, wow, where did that go!? Are you feeling ok at the mo?

How's everyone else?

GetDownYouWillFall · 15/02/2011 16:55

Sorry you've got it bad pippa and those working hours sound horrendous Sad

OP posts:
spilttheteaagain · 15/02/2011 17:07

Good grief pippa those hours are hellish! I thought you were a teacher, but maybe I got that wrong? What time do you have to start work each day?

When you tell your work you are pregnant they have to carry out a Risk Assessment and long/unsociable hours are considered to be something potentially unsuitable for pregnant workers. If you aren't coping you should talk about a change in hours. Have a nosy here and here

Pippaandpolly · 15/02/2011 17:57

It's difficult really - I'm a Housemistress as well as teacher so my hours are 7am - 11pm, with a break between 5 - 9pm when my staff are taking supper and prep. 11pm is of course only if noone's ill/has a nightmare/etc! I have 40 girls in my house so it's pretty full on. I am lucky to have two days off a week though - at lots of schools Housemistresses only get one, or even none. I am quite worried to be honest - I think it's that my job itself isn't really compatible with being pregnant. I'm dreading a risk assessment coming back and saying everything's too high risk! My boarding house is over 5 floors for instance, there's a lot of heavy work like making beds, moving luggage, and I need to constantly be on top form for the girls.

The more I think about it the more worried I am that even if I have a year off, doing this job with a one year old will simply not be feasible. I think I might have to look at a career break, or just teaching part time, with a view to going back to boarding in the long run. I really love it though - I'd miss my girls.
