Hello ladies ? bit nerve wracking moving over to ante natal but thought I?d be brave! Here?s to a trouble free 8 or so months for us all! And hoping lots more of us move over very soon.

Step away from your thermometers ladies. That way madness lies.

Sits back. Feels a bit lonely. Waits for others.

I'm also worried that when I go on maternity leave we'll have to move out, as the flat comes with the job (it's in the boarding house). DH earns fine but modestly and it will be a big change from two incomes plus zero rent, zero bills etc, to one income plus normal outgoings. I know it's what the rest of the world does but we've been very, very spoiled!

Iwish · 15/02/2011 19:57

Thanks ladies. Thought I'd ask. I really have no idea. Oh well new thongs to learn :)

Oh pippa those are long hours! You poor thing.

Big hugs to you all, hope your days are going ok.

Sickness still here and hornones seem to be going a bit mad too. Lather and cried in the same sentence. Poor DP lol!

Iwish · 15/02/2011 19:58

That was supposed to say 'laughed and cried'. Obviously my fingers have gone mad too.

GetDownYouWillFall · 15/02/2011 21:03

I also smiled at your "new thongs" Iwish Grin

Haha getdown!! I didn't even notice! Grin

Just had a kip on the sofa. Can't keep my eyes open. Hope you are ok x

newyearsday · 15/02/2011 22:11

Hi everyone, sorry for the long absence, I was keeping up and then we had a holiday to Mexico, a final splurge before 2 becomes 3.

digi congratulations on your wonderful news, it's great to see you in graduates!

polly I read about your grey booby bits, I had it too. It's like new skin growing in your nipple, I had it up to a few weeks ago and then it became pink skin and part of the nipple. V weird - the wonders of pregnancy huh!

I'm 28wks now, feeling tired again and so huge. Baby has grown loads in the last week and a half and moves constantly. The other night I think he did a 180o, it was really uncomfortable frantic movements and I was awake half the night worrying if he was ok. I had a 28wk scan today (taking part in a research study so get late scans at 28wks and 36wks) and he is fine, he's head down, bum up, legs to the right, lets hope he stays there. Got a lovely profile pic to gaze at.

Those in 1st tri hope you're feeling tip top soon (it will get better).

lady good luck with your 20wk scan.

Gotta go, my back is killing me from typing for 10mins!

Iwish · 16/02/2011 08:02

Hi newyears. Hope you enjoyed your holiday and glad baby has got bigger and Is happily kicking away :)

getdown hope the scan goes ok today. Let us know xx

Pippaandpolly · 16/02/2011 11:15

newyears that is so bizarre! What weird and wonderful things our bodies do...! Hope your back feels better :)

GetDownYouWillFall · 16/02/2011 12:57

2.8cm long with a heartbeat of 181bpm.

Measuring 9 weeks and 4 days, due date 17th september.

I was so relieved I burst into tears whilst lying on the sonographer's table Blush

Pippaandpolly · 16/02/2011 13:24

Oh Getdown I'm so happy for you! Grin Grin Grin Now put your feet up and concentrate on enjoying it!

Iwish · 16/02/2011 13:27

Oh getdown that's fantastic! I have been popping on here all morning waiting for your news.
I'm not surprised you burst into tears, the happiness must have been overwhelming.

Have any of you heard about these nausea bands? A few people seem to rate them so I've just bought some off eBay hoping they will stop the all day nausea.

GetDownYouWillFall · 16/02/2011 13:35

thank you so much pippa and Iwish - the relief is awesome. I am calming down so much that I am only now realising how shattered I feel after a terrible night's sleep last night!

Still baffled by my very faint test with FMU on saturday, I tell you what though, I am never using First Bloody Response tests again! Piece of crap sticks Grin I was totally freaking out over that stupid pale line.

I've never used those wristbands Iwish but have a friend who used them in her pregnancy and I think they helped - they are supposed to press on an acupressure point and relieve the nausea. So sorry you are suffering with it.

OP posts:
Pippaandpolly · 16/02/2011 13:42

Iwish I get travel sick and have found those bands help, though they can hurt a bit which is why I haven't worn them for the ms as I'd have to wear them all day.

I've been wondering about Morning Well which is apparently a CD that takes away morning sickness!? 20 minutes of listening to it...it's advertised on the NCT website but I just can't quite believe it can work. HOW would it work!?

Getdown - I would put it down to a faulty, stupid test stick and forget about it :o

LadyGoneGaga · 16/02/2011 13:48

Great news, Getdown. It is so worth the money. You sound just like me - I hardly slept the night before and just sobbed with relief on the sonographers table! Moral is that pregnancy tests at 9 weeks pregnant will not tell you anything constructive.

Welcome back, Newyears - we're going on hols at 28 weeks - did you cope with the heat etc ok?

I've never used the wristbands - bit of a giveaway though if you haven't announced you are pregnant yet!

Pippa I don't know how on earth you are coping with those hours. I fall asleep at 8:30 every night putting DS to bed. Not sure how you would cpe doing them with a bay afterwards. Would DP have to do all the evening childcare? Might be ok if you have a good sleeper but still sounds really tough to me.

GetDownYouWillFall · 16/02/2011 13:53

Thanks Lady yes you are so right - it was worth every penny. And the lady was so kind and helpful - gave us much more time and understanding than the NHS one we had with DD. That's what you pay for I guess!

Yes stupid stupid me for testing at 9 weeks. Please everyone learn from me and don't make the same mistake Grin!!

OP posts:
LadyGoneGaga · 16/02/2011 14:34

Have you got a date for your 12 week scan, Getdown? I was still nervous for that but marginally less panicked than would have been otherwise! You were bound to be nervous anyway - you are when you've had a loss previously.

I am still waiting to get some energy - can't keep eyes open in an evening at all.

GetDownYouWillFall · 16/02/2011 14:55

I haven't got a 12 week scan date yet Lady I haven't even got a booking in appointment. No call or letter at all. Think I will chase it up tomorrow if still haven't heard anything.

It was the same with DD though, didn't actually see anyone until 12 weeks - had booking in appt at 12 weeks at same time as the scan.

Sorry you are feeling so tired. I've just been for my flu jab so expecting to feel a bit rough for the next few days.

OP posts:
LadyGoneGaga · 16/02/2011 15:32

I didn't bother having one - I figure is the end of flu season anyway now. Hope you don't feel too rough.

nickstermum · 16/02/2011 18:10

Yey getdown.... Grin see... now bloody well throw all your sticks in the bin!!!

I felt like shite after flu jab and my arm felt like it was about to drop off!

98% chance of taking to term now...... Grin fab news xx

GetDownYouWillFall · 16/02/2011 18:15

thanks nix Grin you are so right I am def going to throw the sticks away now - and I am never ever using first response again!!

Oh dear re, the flu jab. My arm feels ok but am not looking forward to feeling shite!!

OP posts:
Iwish · 16/02/2011 19:04

Thanks for the info about the bands, I've ordered them so I'll give them a go. lady my office is like the Antarctic so luckily everyone always has cardigans or jumpers on so they shouldn't be seen.

Ooh flu jabs, I've been offered one and my midwife was quite shocked that I'd not been offered one before because of my thyroid. I'm thinking about waiting till after 12 weeks or do you think it's a better idea to go for it now?

LadyGoneGaga · 16/02/2011 19:41

It's the end of flu season now so I'm not bothering. Not sure why it would have any bearing on your thyroid? Hmm

spilttheteaagain · 16/02/2011 19:47

Fantastic news GetDown I am Grin for you. 9+4 is pretty much the dates you calculated isn't it?

Having a big Smile as I've just been onto my old March antenatal thread and the first two babies arrived yesterday.

My stomach is expanding. You know the feeling when you're having a fat day and your trousers are too tight and how desperately wonderful it is when you can undo the button and zip? I want to do that to my skin Blush Quite pleased though as I reckon it must be a good sign.

Iwish · 16/02/2011 20:19

No idea ladyg. All goes way over my head. Maybe I'll leave it a while longer. Tbh I'm a complete wuss and am scared of needles so having bloods and injections aren't good. Not a good thing if you are up duffed lol.

Woohoo for your expanding stomach split!

nickstermum · 16/02/2011 21:11

One thing to think about re flu jab is it protects baby for the next couple of winters ESP as they aren't inoculating kids now. It's not a live virus and so you can have it before 12 weeks. I wasn't keen until I read a lass posting about still birth due to swine flu :(

I am not into jabs, Ds is not mmr'd but that did scare me:(
15+3 today whoop :) :)

Waves to all, proper catch up tomorrow xxxxx
