hehe at Coral, it is indeed March! Glad to have made it this far.

I have a pram suit thing to bring baby home in - as we'll be wheeling him/her home (hospital is round the corner) rather than driving, figure they'll need to be cosy. I'm in NE Scotland though, so chances are the pram suit will get lots of use!

Kagey · 01/03/2011 08:51

Eeeek it is March already Shock time is running away.

I am busy keeping busy and trying to rest up when I can, and have almost packed my hospital bag - yay!!

Sittinghippo the vbac appointment was quite brief last week as you said, and they said they all was ok for normal birth. They said to call as soon as labour starts so they could let me know when to come in and explained that once in established labour, policy is 4 hours before they do another section. However they were so nice and friendly that I am feeling more positive about avoiding a c-section. I have a one-to-one with the vbac coordinator this week, so will update again.

StrangewaysHereICome · 01/03/2011 09:20

Oh lordy - tis March, spring will be springing Daffodil but I am not popping (pooping yes, but popping no Blush).

Wrote a long post yesterday but lost it Hmm - oh well.

Any more babies yet? Don't look this way, this one aint never coming out Confused. Not quite desperate enough for a sweep yet, but give it a couple more days ...

StrangewaysHereICome · 01/03/2011 09:21

Ooop meant St Davids Grin

superpenguin · 01/03/2011 09:26

Hooray for it being March! :) St Davids St Davids St Davids

spaceal · 01/03/2011 09:48

Ooh, I like the St Davids St Davids St Davids St Davids St Davids St Davids

It's quite spring-like here, but still cold - we've got a warm fleecy thing (with ears and bear pads on the feet Grin) to bring the little one home in. Think it might be a little on the warm side, but couldn't resist.

Didn't watch OBEM last night - the trailers had suggested it was a little upsetting and I think Thursday's induction means it's all a bit too close for comfort now. I'm just going to try to stay in blissful ignorance till then Wink

KPidgeon · 01/03/2011 10:32

Oh- how lovely. I'm Welsh so Happy St. David's day to you all St Davids especially any Welsh mums out there!

Also, yeay that it's March. We're having out babies later this month!- Crikey. Though mine may well hang on in there until April I guess.

OBEM was a bit much- the partner of the girl who had twins was only 18 coral but I'm not sure that excuses him.

I don't have a fleecy suit (worry, worry!) but have lots of layers so I think we'll be okay with them. I do wish Spring would hurry up and arrive with sunshine and blue skies and stay for a while though!

Jenchandler · 01/03/2011 11:11

OOH WELL had twinges yeserday evening, which got quite bad then stopped. Woke up at 2am, felt something drop and then a pop....MY WATERS BROKE!! Had to go to birthing centre for a check up as head hadn't been engaged previously and midwife wanted to check that the cord and head were OK. Had a scan at 4am - baby very much engaged so got sent home.

Contractions initially every 6-7min, managed to doze. They then died down to every 20min but now picking up again every 10min. Off to the supermarket and for a walk now, try and get things moving. Crikey!!
Will update as and when - will be induced if nothing by tomorrow morning - COME ON BABY!!

superpenguin · 01/03/2011 11:18

oh gosh! good luck jenchandler !

spaceal · 01/03/2011 11:34

Oooh, fingers crossed, Jen Grin

Niknan · 01/03/2011 11:47

Good luck Jenchandler!! Hope it won't be too much longer for you!

ckny1 · 01/03/2011 11:49

Wow, Jen, this is so exciting!!! Definitely a Happy St Davids to you and your popping, engaging LO! :)

I'm also in love with these St Davids St Davids St Davids and have been enjoying them in our unkempt jungle garden, and fear I would be a blubbering slob if I watch OBEM at this stage.

Maybe it's all of my laying about that has caused such inactivity...

Happy 1st of March, March (and February) ladies and babies! :)

gem3225 · 01/03/2011 12:08

good luck jen so exciting St Davids

must pass on something re moses basket/pram fitted sheets.
i found a bargain on ebay, new fitted sheets pack of 2 from'prembaby' shop £3.98 plus £1 i think for posting. They arrived today and are perfect fit Smile.

good luck jen

StrangewaysHereICome · 01/03/2011 12:39

How exciting - good luck Jen St Davids

sittinghippo · 01/03/2011 13:30

Good luck Jen cant wait to hear! xxxx

Thanks for the update Kagey . I am 39 weeks tomorrow and have been given an appointment for next weds, my DD to see how things are 'looking' down there if I havent popped already. They will then decide if my cervix looks 'favourable' and I will either be allowed a few more days at home, or they will go ahead and book me in to have waters broken and a back up C-Sect date.

I didnt realise about the 4 hour rule.... is that long enough??!!! Having never laboured before I dont know how long it usually takes once in established labour.
Fingers crossed all us VBAC ladies get what we are hoping for.

Erm... a quick question for the more experienced among us, I am somewhat dreading a vaginal examination... from watching OBEM it almost seems they are worse than the giving birth part! I just want more of an idea of what happens ie, how much of the hand goes in Blush and is it really awful??
Am slightly freaking myself out over this, more so than of labour itself.

Lozario · 01/03/2011 13:45

Hi everyone!

St Davids yeay, Happy St Dave's to the Welsh among us! I'm half Welsh so half of me is celebrating!

Jen that's so exciting, looking forward to hearing more news!!

sittinghippo the vaginal exams aren't bad at all, just take a deep breath and breathe out slowly if they are doing a sweep or anything like that - they can be a bit more painful, like a contraction but not as bad as the worst contractions. That's how I found them anyway, and I'm a COMPLETE wuss and not worried about them this time.

Saw my midwife this morning, she tried to get me an appointment at the maternity clinic (or whatever they call it) at hossie about my headaches, weird swollen foot etc but they were full up until my due date, so we're leaving it for now and she's going to see me next week. She thinks the baby is settling in a back to back position again, like DS1, so I have these exercises to do, all of which are the opposite of what I'm meant to be doing for my swollen foot, ie, elevating it! Urgh. I'm seeing her again next week so she can keep an eye on me.

Where has the time gone??!

Larty74 · 01/03/2011 14:47

Go Jen Go! St Davids

EvianBaby · 01/03/2011 15:23

Good luck Jen! We're all ready for some lovely baby news!

Echoing everyone else... Yay it's March! The babies should start coming in an abundance now! Spring seems like such a fab time to have a bxby too, had my last one in autumn/winter and the dark days were hard at times. Looking forward to getting out and about with the pushchair in the sunshine.

Come on babies, we're (almost!) ready for you!

TooImmature2BMum · 01/03/2011 16:10

Oooh, good luck Jen!

Also loving the daffodils. St Davids

Have just got back from MW (39+5 today). Baby is still hovering between 4 and 3/5 engaged, and the MW said she didn't think she would go any further down until contractions begin. She's going on holiday next week, so she's going to book my induction for the 15th, and next week I'm getting a home visit from another MW who will give me a sweep if I choose to have one. She did say I don't have to if I don't want to - apparently they are less effective with first babies - but I think if nothing has happened by then I will be begging for a sweep! The MW said to eat lots of pineapple and have lots of sex. You should have seen DH's eyes light up at this piece of advice! Wink Last time we tried I could hear my pelvis grinding in a very off-putting manner. I have bought two whole pineapples...

Jupiter118 · 01/03/2011 17:29

Honestly a girl goes out for lunch and it all starts happening. Good luck jenchandler

After Sainsburys yesterday I will def be doing online shopping next week or sending DH to do it. He doesn?t like me to go anyway as I always either spend too much money or come back with random ingredients which present him with a ready steady cook type challenge. I should add that I am not reputed for my cooking ? I can make good cake and cook lots of mince dishes, but everything else ? no.

evian I watched OBEM this morning ? cried bucket loads. Probably shouldn?t have watched, but?.

sittinghippo I dread VEs ? vague recollection of trying to fight midwife off during very last pushing bit before DS arrived. Had to have a few the other week when the mucous plug went and was having some cramping/contractions etc to see if cervix opened or closed. Was a junior doctor and the middle of the night ? first attempt they couldn?t see ? think that was my fault, 2nd attempt, both her and the midwife couldn?t decide so then they got the registrar to come and have a go who decided it was closed. I am rubbish at trying to stay relaxed, but according to yoga teacher keeping face muscles relaxed keeps ?downstairs? relaxed. Apparently horse breaths (make your lips make a funny sound) and what she calls ?blancmange? face (drag hands down face to force muscles to relax) are good techniques. But as Loazario says not as bad as contractions. All of this will not deter me from having a sweep though ? I am so uncomfortable.

I am eating lots of pineapple, but really can?t face the sex thing.

Another question for 2nd/3rd timers. Does how my induced labour went provide any kind of indicator for how a delivery might be if I manage to go into labour naturally? My induced labour (38 weeks) was fast ? 6 hours from 2nd pessary to birth (first pessary did nothing!). I feel like I am entering the unknown.

edeluna · 01/03/2011 19:43

Happy March, everyone! We're finally here! Yay! St Davids

Good luck, Jen. Really looking forward to your news and to lots of other baby activity in the coming days and weeks.

Nothing to report here, unfortunately. Baby's moving around, but doesn't seem much lower than usual, so I don't think she's engaged yet. I wish she'd get on with it, though. I'm starting to feel very impatient about meeting her finally!

Hattie05 · 01/03/2011 22:22

Hi all

JEN - i hope you are cuddling and enjoying your baby right now!

Jupiter - can't help i'm afraid because i havn't been induced before. But subsequent labours for me have been shorter and easier - by that i mean i understood what was happening and felt more in control - which i believe ultimately got the babe out quicker! With no.1 i was so scared at the pushing stage i don't think i pushed effectively making the whole thing take a lot longer than it needed.

My last two labours were each under 2 hours - i have real paranoia these last few days that this one is just going to pop out suddenly when i cough or go to the loo! I keep replaying a story i read in a magazine years ago about a girl having her baby down the toilet. Surely you'd feel some pain and desire to push would you not? Shock

nothing much to report here except same old pains, loads of hardening and BH's which i just will to become contractions but they don't.

coraltoes · 02/03/2011 08:20

Too Immature, Jupiter

WAIT

i had loads of pineapple last night. woke up with sore throat, weird cough, tingly lips (on face!) and awful heartburn. Learn from the idiots...seriously

Blush
EvianBaby · 02/03/2011 08:38

coraltoes thank you for making me chuckle this morning! Hope you're not suffering too much though.

Any babies overnight? Smile

EvaLongoria · 02/03/2011 10:29

Hi Morning all.

Never heard the pineapple thing before but for whatever reason yesterday had a weird craving for pineapples and bought some. Have eaten some yesterday and still got left. Will wait and see what happens. Rather that then sex. Midwife also adviced re: sex and DH's eyes lit up and I just gave him a lovely pat on his leg....

Good Luck Jen, hope you are enjoying cuddles with baby now. Just seen we have the same due date so you never know mine might come soon as well. I pray it does.

Starting on cleaning my carpets today. Baby's furniture arrived yesterday but need to clean the carpet in there first. But bought some lovely bedding and accessories yesterday for the room and should be all done hopefully by tomorrow.

Hope to see few more posts of new arrivals.
