Good luck everyone with scans today [smile}.

Jasmine I'm sure it is not bad news, but I would be down to my EPU to check and set my mind at rest. Where I am the EPU does a drop-in every weekday morning. Let us know how it goes.

Sarah we're not far from eachother - I'm in Bristol Smile.

Mummynumber2 · 23/11/2010 11:06

Jasmine I'm glad you'll be able to have a scan today and am thinking of you. It's so worrying isn't it, but if you saw everything was ok yesterday I'm really hopeful it will be today.

I'm hopefully having a scan today too. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers barbie and sasamaxx. To be honest I'm a bit blasé about the bleeding now as I've had so much of it with no harm to the baby. Also it occurs to me that I've had fresh blood at week 5, 8 and I'm 12 weeks today, almost every month (and old blood pretty much constantly in between) I've heard that some people carry on having periods during pregnancy so maybe I'm just one of those people.

8rubberduckies · 23/11/2010 11:22

Mummy my thoughts are with you too, and hopefully you'll get to see your bouncing bean again today being as healthy and happy as it should be! Maybe you are one of those people who has AF all the way through... what a bummer (and how stressful)!

neenewps · 23/11/2010 12:17

jasmine hope you get the support you need from the EPU.

mummyno.2 hope your scan goes well

More good news....

William & Kate are getting married on Friday 29th April... I know quite a few of us didn't want them to get married in June :o

jasmine51 · 23/11/2010 12:28

Update - EPU told me to go away...well, not so bluntly but as bleeding appears to have stopped they dont want to see me unless it starts again. Happy thoughts..happy thoughts...dont panic...deep breath...find a happy place

neenewps · 23/11/2010 12:32

Stay positive jasmine. I have mentioned before but you may have missed it that my friend bled up to 10 weeks and she has just given birth to a very healthy 10lb boy.

Try and rest as much as you can. We are all here for you {{hugs}}

NurseSunshine · 23/11/2010 13:15

Keep thinking those happy thought jasmine and mummyN2 and try not to worry :)

Well I had my scan and thankfully everything was absolutely fine Grin It measured at 10+2 so I've lost a couple of weeks but it means I get to go back in 2 weeks as it was too early to measure the nuchal fold so am pretty pleased cuz now I get 3 scans instead of 2 Grin

I honestly thought he'd say "Oh, there's nothing in here!". I almost couldn't believe it when he said Oh yes I can see your baby! I didn't really believe I could be this lucky. I'm so happy! The baby was so cute, it sort of jumped like it was startled by all the poking and prodding and then floated back down again, then waved it's little hand at us! There was a brief moment of terror when the sonographer thought he'd seen another sac but it turned out to be a mirror image

My blood pressure has gone even lower than it usually is, which would explain why I've been feeling so faint and then the MW took heaps of blood and I felt a bit off again so I'm using it as an excuse to take the day off placement Blush naughty I know but I feel like crap and would rather eat crumpets whilst watching Nurse Jackie.

BIG LOVE to everyone else today xxxxxx

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 23/11/2010 13:16

10lbs!!! Crickey. (crosses legs - ow ow ow)

It's alright ladies we won't be upstaged by a certain wedding. They've gone for late April. Grin Well after all our June babies are far more important.

Hope all are okay Esp Jas amd Mummmy2

Mummynumber2 · 23/11/2010 13:16

Just wanted to let you know I'm back from my scan and all is fine! In fact the baby is quite big, I'm 12 weeks today and it's measuring slightly bigger than that. There's no question about conception timings for me. The dr kind of agreed with me that some people just do bleed in pregnancy. So, that's it then, I'm 12 weeks and all is good! I'd better start getting ready for a baby [Grin]

Jasmine I'm really feeling for you. Have you had bleeding before in this pregnancy? Apparently up to 30% of women have had some kind of bleeding in a healthy pregnancy. It must be so hard for you not being allowed a scan though. How many weeks are you? Was your last scan the 12 weeks one?

I also saw the royal wedding date and had the same thought! There should be time for all the hysteria to calm down before our little ones arrive!

Mummynumber2 · 23/11/2010 13:19

X posts nurse. Yay! Congratulations! You must be so happy and I think you definitely deserve a day off. Did your ex go with you to the scan in the end? I hope he behaved himself if he did.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 23/11/2010 13:27

Good news Mummy and Nurse Grin congrats.

NurseSunshine · 23/11/2010 13:29

Thanks MummyN2 yes he did and it was fine, really. Just stated very firmly that we would have to get along for the sake of the baby and he agreed so I think it'll be ok.

Jasmine, could you just sort of stretch the truth about still bleeding? My student midwife friend told me to just outright lie to the EP unit when I told her I was worried! And you wouldn't be lying really cuz you have had bleeding. Just a thought, anyway, might be worth it if you're really worrying.

NurseSunshine · 23/11/2010 13:29

Thanks choc :)

sasamaxx · 23/11/2010 13:34

YAY - fantastic news - congratulations mummynumber2 and nursesunshine Grin

jasmine - surprised they turned you away, but I suppose it shows how common bleeding is and that it's often nothing to worry about.

I'm getting to the time of day where I'm incapable of doing anything but sit/lie on the couch, willing the kids to watch TV and let me rest Blush
Will I ever have energy or the motivation to do stuff again???

Good news about the royal wedding - no overshadowing lots of lovely births now Grin

jasmine51 · 23/11/2010 13:55

Yay mummy and nurse thats really really fantastic news.

Who asked me questions? Oh yes.. mummy. I'm 10+5 and had my 3rd scan yesterday. I've got my 12 wk scan a week on Saturday. I've had 4 mcs and am old Smile, have thrombophilia, am in a high pe risk group as well as having bad issues with folates - thats why I'm being monitored...which is actually nicer than being treated as 'normal' and sent packing until 12 wks. I think I've rubbed my doodaa away today constantly wiping but no more spotting atm.

Am about to borrow my neighbours dog to go out for a walk. I may sound like a whack-job, but he is my psychic little friend and has accurately detected all my pgs so far and I also noticed last time he acted odd when I was about to mc...so hopefully today he'll be full of beans and more interested in sniffing other dogs bums and not whimpering and throwing himself on his back. Will let you know...he's the new 'Paul the Octopus' you know.

cep · 23/11/2010 14:41

hi all, sorry to hear about the losses over the weekend.

mummyno2 and nurseso pleased to hear about your scans.

jasmine as others have said am sure the bleeding is nothing to worry about. especially as you'd just seen the heartbeat.

Well i'm 10+4 today still haven't had my scan app through yet. was told i should have it within the week but if not got it within 2 weeks to let her know, 1 week down. Am getting really frustrated about it, just want to go and make sure everything is ok.

LisasCat · 23/11/2010 14:46

NurseS, sorry if you've already gone through this before, but you mention going to the scan with your ex. Have you and the daddy split? It's just that 4 years ago I was in the exact same position - other half and I broke up before finding out I was pregnant, didn't want to force ourselves to stay together for a baby, so did the whole pegnancy and first 2 years of parenting as friends. (Drove his religious family nuts - worth it just for that!)

We actually got back together of our own free will and are now expecting (planned) bump #2. But all I wanted to say to you is that I truly hope you find your ex grows into his role the way mine did. After the bumpy start, he blew me away with the person he became as a daddy. They can be pillocks, and I personally don't think it's worth forcing a relationship just for the sake of a Tory-approved domestic set-up, but when they become dad's they can also be simply awesome.

neenewps · 23/11/2010 14:47

Great news nurse and mummy

Shame we can't post our scan photos on here..

I have just had my booking in appt.. was in and out within 45 mins! Didn't get a Bounty pack as they had run out but I think read on here you can register online and they will send you one?

NurseSunshine · 23/11/2010 14:55

Lisascat - I'm glad things worked out for you and your DP :) We broke up after we found out about the baby, it wasn't because of that, he's pretty much always seemed happy about it since we found out. He's just not someone I can be with, the arguments and stress were too much and I think I will be much happier and healthier without him there. It does make things a lot harder obviously (e.g. I am currently without somewhere proper to live which is a bit of a worry!) but I am determined to make things work in the baby's best interests and hopefully he is too and we manage it ok :)

Neenewps I'm not sure if they do send you one but I didn't get mine at the booking app, only just got mine today on my scan day. It had nipple cream in it :(

8rubberduckies · 23/11/2010 15:37

Hi Jasmine I have posted this on here before, but before you joined. I am pg with dc2, and with dc1 I had two episodes of bleeding. The first was around 7-8 weeks and was fresh red spotting that went on for about 5 days with a few cramps. Had a scan on Christmas Eve and all was fine Smile, and they could not come up with a reason for it happening. The second time I had a really heavy bleed about 3 weeks later, and found out this was because of a low-lying placenta. The rest of my pg went by without any more bleeding, and my ds was born happy and bouncing Smile.

I know that not all bleeding is harmless, and it would be extremely simplistic to say it is, but take heart from the fact that it is a lot more common than we are led to believe. Also, your chance of mcing in the 1st trimester reduces to 5-10% after you have seen a heartbeat on a scan.

takethatlady · 23/11/2010 17:00

Congrats nurse and mummy and really hope things are okay jasmine - congrats on your positive scan too.

nurse you are going to be a great mum - it's obvious from your posts that whatever your situation you've really got your head screwed on.

Grin at nipple cream. I only got Bounty Pack 1 when I went to the doctor's and nothing from the midwife, but my scan is on Thursday and apparently that's when you get Bounty Pack 2 of Nipple Cream joy. So looking forward to that.

cep how annoying. I'd give it until Friday and then phone up and beg.

I threw up something good and proper at work today. I was supposed to give a seminar at 3 but as I had spent the previous hour chucking up into a sick bag and looking for somewhere discrete to dispose of it I just gave the students their essays back and told them I'd see them next week. It's not like they were anything but thrilled to get out of a 2 hour class!

So now I'm home early and the Skybox isn't working and our TV aerial was accidentally dismantled by the neighbours, so there's nothing to do but vomit and MN ...

cep · 23/11/2010 17:43

sorry to hear your so unwell today ttl

i thought b/pack 2 you picked up from boots or sainsbury's?

neenewps · 23/11/2010 18:29

Hehe nursesunshine... I'm sure there are more things to come like that Blush

I read on the Bounty page that you do pick up pack 2 at Sainsburys or Boots.

ttl you poor thing. Plus having no TV to keep your mind off things :( Mind you there is never much on anyway!! Hope you are feeling better now

moomin156 · 23/11/2010 18:35
