Did some jogging on the spot, baby burled about, scan successful!

me23 · 02/11/2010 13:09

Jusr wondering how often we are all getting up to wee in the night (don't you just love pregnancy not afraid of sharing or asking the most personal things Grin ) I hardly get any sleep it can be anything from 4x to 8x a night it is really annoying.

I have been doing some research online about my blood results my thyroid function tests have shown persistantly low free t4 levels and normal tsh gps obviously do not understand what this means as all they do is repeat them. But found an nhs website with guidelines for gps and it says my results indicate secondary hypothyroidism and warrant an immediate urgent referral to an endocrinologist for further investigation and free t4 should be in the upper third of the reference range in pregnancy and mine is below the range, I am fuming Angry I have asked every time for a referral before I knew this and have been fobbed off.

mendipgirl · 02/11/2010 17:26

Had my rescan toay and all okay, got some great photos. Big relief!!

sittinghippo · 02/11/2010 17:51

Smile mendip

Did you find out sex or keeping it a surprise?
Happy Birthday to your DD also!

me23 I am so pleased to be able to say I get up only once a night now, and sometimes not at all. Either I have a huge bladder or baby has moved up and out the way a bit phew.

Grrr at your GP. I wont pretend to know anything about hypothyroidism but it does sound as you know more than they do. I have found this a number of times in the past, they WILL NOT believe that you know your body better than they do!

mendipgirl · 02/11/2010 18:45

Sittinghippo, keeping it a surprise, but have 3 more scans booked so curiosity might get the better of me in the end!! Took my Mum with me today as DH couldn't come, was lovely for her to see her grandchild moving around!

me23,I don't understand that either, but have a similar lack of faith in some members of the medical profession, you have to trust your instincts and be forceful (easier said than done!).

ella24 · 02/11/2010 20:09

has anyone got any baby names pick out yet we are really stuck on a boys name we had this with my son but with a girls name

Larty74 · 02/11/2010 20:53

ella24 boys names have been really hard to come by for us as well - compared to girls. we have two we really like, and I guess you only need one, but i still like to browse thru the books.

Think i'm experiencing my first day of serious pelvic girdle pain or SPD. I feel like an old lady or someone who is 2 weeks overdue. not nice at all. I could hardly get around at school today. ugh. Any suggestions on relief please?

edeluna · 02/11/2010 20:55

Hope everyone's doing well. I had my 20-week scan last night. Went in at 5pm and didn't get out until after 8pm. Baby was asleep and wouldn't turn over, so the doctor couldn't get a view or measurements on the face or check the heart. I was sent out to eat, drink and move around -- not once, but twice before baby cooperated.

Everything looks fine and normal. Pics weren't very good, unfortunately, because of the bad positioning. But I go back for another scan at 28 weeks to check my fibroids, so hoping to get a better view and photos then.

Also found out we're having a girl! I feel like I can finally start planning a bit more properly now that we know.

Hope all the other scans are going well.

sam26oscar · 02/11/2010 21:16

glad to see so many of us had scans now, its a huge relief isn't it!!
Just wondering if anyone else has been suffering from pains around the groin/high cut knicker line!! Bit of weird explanation but it starts in my groin and rises along what would be a knicker line, i almost need to lift my bump to give some relief. It can be quite sharp sometimes and can be really painful when walking. Seems to go when i am resting or pottering about at home. Not sure if its round ligament pain or spd if anyone has info on wither would appreciate it as not seeing anyone for weeks yet Sad.

Larty74 · 02/11/2010 21:32

sam26oscar you just described EXACTLY how i'm feeling today. I phoned my midwife and she said it sounded like SPD/pelvic girdle pains. I asked her how many days do I carry one feeling like this before getting concerned and she said it shouldn't be a concern at all, just how long u think you can handle it, of course if it gets worse, go in where if push comes to shove physio or accupuncture might be referred. Also suggested heat in the form of baths or hot water bottle will help and paracetemol if need be.

Larty74 · 02/11/2010 21:33

p.s. I vaguely remember someone posting a website on this quite some time ago? any good ones in particular? I could google for days....

thanks!

ella24 · 02/11/2010 21:34

hiya i had spd with my son it really isnt nice have u got one of the bump support belt i sarted to get the pains again at the stop of my pregnany but the belt wasnt much gd as i didnt have a big bump talk to your midwife cos they will send u to pysho other then that hubby rubing your low back if they will

there seems to be alot of girl everyone i know is ahving or had boys maybe its time for the girls lol

1Catherine1 · 02/11/2010 21:41

Sam I've had pain similar to this since Saturday afternoon. As I said previously it got so bad on Sunday I went to the hospital to check baby was ok. Baby was but the pain was still continuing today so I went to my GP this evening and described the feeling. She's quite sure its a pulled muscle. I think I must have done it when I brought my newly bought crib up 2 flights of stairs but at the time I thought nothing of it. I was also worried I might be developing the dreaded SPD but I hope my GP is right and its just a muscle injury. I'd say you should go and see your GP to make sure, no point living in pain if you don't have to. I've been given some ibuprofen gel for the area which she says is fine for short periods of use. If it gets worse or doesn't ease off I'm to go back. And Larty I'm coping with school and my injury by doing minimum walking but then as a secondary teacher this is slightly easier especially with classes that have worked out I'm pregnant and are more understanding when I say "bring your book here", sometimes teaching a purely academic subject has it's advantages.

Congratulations on your scan edeluna and mendip :)

Ella I had names picked out then my OH got all interested and decided that he was crossing out all the girls names I liked and insisting on one I don't, he's being frustratingly persistent. As for boys names he's picked one and he's not budging on it, he thinks the name is absolutely wonderful and will not be convinced otherwise. Quite infuriating, I'm not used to him being so adamant - I'm the one who makes all the decisions usually. I suppose I should be grateful he cares so much.

me, last week I was getting up twice a night-ish but now I think the baby has moved a bit because I can stay in bed all night but am desperate for the toilet as soon as I wake. Good job I can wait since with my pregnancy pillow getting in and out of bed is time consuming. Especially since I'm not the only one who loves it, my two girls (cats) are also pretty keen on it and I do hate to wake them. :) me have you managed to get referred now or they still saying no?

Why is it my posts are always essays? Confused sorry peeps... I guess its because I live so far from my family that this is my only source of pregnancy chat apart from with OH Hmm

sam26oscar · 02/11/2010 21:46

Larty74 how far are you?? i am 22+5 and have quite a big bump...well i think i have but others say ooh aren't you little for 5 monthsConfused I didn't have this with DS1 and thought it was just stretching pains but now think it may be spd or round ligament as good old google came up with that diagnosis!! just don't know the actual difference between the two, but its bloody annoying!!

Larty74 · 02/11/2010 21:55

sam26oscar I'm 22 +3 and think I have kind of a biggish bump but then people have said the SAME thing to me about being little! I'm so confused!

1Catherine1 Have thought about calling GP, but 90% of the time its such a waste. Haven't been yet since being pregnant, so mabye its different. You are right, no point in living with it and I generally have a very high pain tolerance. Oh, and my two girls (cats) love my pillow as well Smile

PipPipPip · 02/11/2010 23:18

Hi everyone, I went to my first pregnancy yoga class tonight. It was absolutely fantastic - very gentle, with the emphasis on relaxation.

There were a few parts of the class that were about childbirth - my mind melted a little bit, as it was the first time I've SERIOUSLY imagined myself giving birth!!

Last night I dreamed that I felt the baby kick... in my thigh! Woke up rubbing my thigh and feeling pleased with myself.

Scan on Tuesday, counting down the days!

Lovely to hear all your news, ladies.

jammiedodger2 · 03/11/2010 08:20

Scan yesterday and all is well. Amazed at how much scans have improved in last 7 years. We have decided not to find out the sex although dh thought he saw a willy and I thought I didn't!
Was also dd birthday, her 10th! Spent the evening at 'high school rocks' at theatre with dsm and dss. Am absolutely knackered today and ears still ringing!
jx

sam26oscar · 03/11/2010 09:46

have just come back from walking DS1 to school and the pain in tummy still there so decided to phone midwife and she was lovely, and thinks it is spd, said up to me if i want to go to g.p, even if its to just get checked out the doctor won't mind!! However, as usual, there are no appointments for this week, but can phone up at 8.30am tomorrow morning( along with the rest of the town!) and see if i can get one then.Have to go to work today and hoover 3 floors and stand to iron as well Sad. Still gotta earn the money!! Have a good day ladies Smile x

sam26oscar · 03/11/2010 09:47

Have tried sitting to iron but find it impossible to get to grips with!!

1Catherine1 · 03/11/2010 11:02

Couldn't you even get an emergency appointment? That's what I got. I phoned yesterday at 3:30pm and had an appointment for 4:50pm. Play up the pain for the receptionist. I told her I couldn't do my job like this which is true.

EvaLongoria · 03/11/2010 11:32

Morning all

PipPipPip Glad to hear that you enjoyed your yoga class. And fingers crossed for your scans. I remember with my DD I started feeling kicking only around the 20 week mark whereas with 2nd pregnancy I have been feeling it since 16 weeks.

I wish I can go to some Yoga or Aquanatal classes but I am a mature student and they run on the days that I have college and there is one Aquanatal on Saturdays at 11am but DH works and I have no one else to look after DD. Pip, what I am currently doing with DD and studying is I have her in pre-school 4 mornings a week and childminder has her in the afternoons. I attend college 2 days a week and DH is off every Tuesday which is normally "family time" but if I have urgent stuff to do he will take her away for the day to give me time to do some of my work. Last year I only had DD in 2 days a week at childminder whilst I was at college and I really struggled to get assignments in on time because I still had to keep her entertained on the other days.

1Catherine1 I also sleep with a pillow but luckily got one from my SIL. I have been sleeping with mine since 12 weeks because I showed quite early this time around and it was very uncomfortable at night. But now cannot go to bed without the pillow

JPidgeon I also suffer from spots and did not want to try anything but will give the Sudocream a go seeing that it is not that expensive. Thanks for the tip

eduluna Congrats on your scan and finding out the sex.

sam26oscar & Larty74 - I have similar pains and midwife also told me it might be SPD and if it gets any worse to come and see her before my December appointment. Really hope it does not get any worse because my SIL suffered really badly even though I did not first time around.

Everyone else that I missed congrats on your scans or good luck. We had our 20 week scan yesterday and my little bubble was perfect. We could not make up our mind to find out the sex and decided last minute not to same as we did before. But I think I saw that it was a boy as baby front was showing but DH insists he saw it was another girl. So we will have to wait and see who was right.

sac55 · 03/11/2010 13:31

Hello everyone

I've finally got round to joining mumsnet today and the first thing I did was to look for this thread as I'm also due in March 2011. This will be our first baby...a souvenir from our honeymoon. I'm exactly 20 weeks today with a due date of 23 March 2011.

I already have a large bump...having always been slim I now feel absolutely massive but my friends kindly tell me I still don't look pregnant...just fat! I've always slept on my back and am finding it difficult to sleep on my side. Is it worth getting a body pillow? If so, any makes anyone can recommend?

I have my 20 week scan on Tuesday and hope everything is normal...it was at the time of the 12 wk scan so hope nothing has gone wrong since then. I sometimes feel things going on but can't tell if it's gas, ligament stretching or the baby moving.

However, the most annoying thing is that DH is not a UK national and his UK spouse visa is taking absolutely ages to come through. :( It is rather annoying for both of us that he's not here to share in the pregnancy but I'm now starting to get worried that he may not even be here in time for the birth. Please keep your fingers crossed that he makes it in time!

me23 · 03/11/2010 13:39

Hi everyone glad to see lots more people have had scans and no problems found Smile
I'm 20 weeks today half way there!

A few of you have been asking about spd I know have it to though haven't seen mw yet no due to see her until after xmas but I'm going to phone for a physio referral as want help before it gets worse.
here is a good website which list signs and symptoms of spd and what can be done www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/antenatalhealth/physicalhealth/pelvicpain/

I haven't been referred yet am going to phone gp tomorrow and ask as my latest bloods should be back then.

ella24 · 03/11/2010 17:45

sac55 i will keep my finger crossed for you hope u get the gd news u wnat must be a pain really

is anyone eles suffering with headach is so is there anything i can do to help/stop them

Southsearocks · 03/11/2010 18:18

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to join the thread and share that I had the 20 week scan today and it all looked good Smile We even saw a beautiful face looming out at us and s/he gave us the thumbs up!

I'm so excited and relieved, because I cried nearly all the way to the hospital. I've been very anxious about this scan - I'm not sure why. Now I feel I can relax a bit.

I had no idea that pregnancy would be so hard and so exciting and scary all at once.

Wishing everyone well with their own scans. I thought it was amazing!
