Much excitement in my house as my new pushchair has arrived! It's the one 'big' purchase we had to make and I know it is ridiculously early but amazon was selling it at £100 off and I didn't want to miss out.
We've gone for a Hauck Manhattan as I liked the idea of being able to have the baby facing me or the world and we couldn't afford a quinny or b-smart. Actually we couldn't really afford this one at full price so am well chuffed!
I may get it out the box at the weekend to check all the bits are there and then pack it up and put it back in the loft!
Is it a bit sad to be this excited?!

Congrats on your scans peeps. Still anxiously waiting for Friday for mine, this week is going really slowly for me and I know it's because I feel like I'm waiting for Christmas. I know I'm going to drive myself crazy the last few weeks before due date.

Jammie I hope it isn't sad to be that excited since I've bought a crib and a cot already and was really excited to get these. Which is probably worse since mine aren't even brand new - got them off ebay but they look perfect. I never realized how expensive babies were, when I priced it up I scared myself half to death.

Congrats on scans - there seems to be a flurry now!

1Catherine1 - with you on the waiting - mine is tomorrow - quite worried - not sure why. Not long til tomorrow/Friday though. Also had got time wrong was convinced 9.30, but actually 9.50 - at least I checked this evening.

Babies/children - v expensive and I think get worse as they get older - wouldn't change my lot though

Me23 - nice to see you (virtually) elseware on MN. Thanks for the tips and the link to the apec stuff - v useful.

Completely random note... is it possible to get better at front crawl from now until delivery? Swam earlier, but worried that breast stroke might not mix well with pelvic pain so did crawl, but v crap at it - any hope I can improve.

Afternoon ladies

Glad to hear the lovely news from your scans . Mine is next Thursday and cannot wait. I've gone from feeling definite pops and bubbles down there to kind of rumblings now. Kind of gas but further down!

I had my triple test results last week and the risk is 1:29000 - very pleased that we are extremely low risk.

We have bought nothing yet for the baby - although I did have a look at buggies/prams online yesterday and baffled myself even more! Ideally I would like a travel system, car seat included etc.

Just wanted to let you know my 20 week scan went well. It was such a relief! They couldn't check the spine so i've got to go back Tuesday but they said don't worry as mostly likely any spinal problems would also mean problems elsewhere.

Couldn't tell the sex due its position but might find out Tuesday or in 20 weeks time... Either way I don't mind.

Those of you still to wait. I thought today would never come and really appreciated good news so wanted to let you all know how mine went.

I am craving chip shop chips so bad! I wish I could drive it is too far to walk to. Oh dear my own fault for eating so early tonight.

well, i am a little confused. I went to see the midwife this morning, its a drop in clinic which i go to( really go to have a coffee with the midwife who is an old school friend!!) well she wasn't in but another one was, anyway to cut long story short she said it was probably ligament pain that i have been feeling and if gets worse seek medical advice. THEN had drs appt ( sound like complete neurotic pregnant woman) which is just as well, as the dr said i have uti and am now on antibiotics, the midwife said my wee was absolutley fine .So Larty74 not sure what the pain is!! Could be ligamnent pain or pain from the uti. Sorry not much help, but maybe go and see dr to rule infection out!?!

Scan update...

All went well - baby had all of the essentials so very pleased. Was quite uncooperative though and wouldn't move easily to let the sonographer get easy access to things they needed to see. We wanted to find out the sex, but it had its legs firmly crossed. Might still find out at 28 or 32 weeks as further appointments for growth scans and consultant's clinic.

Mildly offended at comment on notes about scan pictures not being as good quality as could be due to 'maternal habitus' i.e fattness. Charming I thought.

Welcome to the thread Southsearocks and grats on your scan. I'm glad it was a happy event in the end. :) Grats to haloflo too on your scan and I hope baby is feeling more cooperative on Tuesday!

Jojo I know the feeling of relief, I couldn't contain my smile when I saw my risk although mine was something like 1 in 34639 or something which I remember wondering how exactly they came to such a precise number.

Sam and Larty has your pain eased off any? I've been using the ibuprofen gel now for 3 days and it has really worked a treat so doc may be right after all its just a pulled muscle that felt like much much worse. Now I feel like such a baby for going to the docs with a pulled muscle . I know when I saw my doctor she moved my legs to check if it was a joint problem and then touched along where it was hurting to check if it was an infection and then ruled out both of them. So I guess its always worth seeing your doctor and not just your midwife. They're all experts in their own field.

Jupiter uncooperative babies seem to be the theme at the moment which is a shame since I have my scan tomorrow and I don't do patience well. Glad everything else went well though. :) As a general rule I don't like to read my notes since I get offended easily. I'm also feeling ENORMOUS at the moment (for 20 weeks) due to my not so subtle student who stated "she blatantly is pregnant" while looking me up and down - HOW RUDE! Luckily I have an amazing OH who keeps reassuring me that its normal and I'm not fat and has taken to giving me and bump a kiss when I come home from work. He's a star but don't tell him I said that :)

Anyway, scan tomorrow morning and it's like Christmas Eve; I can't sleep! Will let you all know how it goes :)

how bizarre sam! whatever it is i hope you start feeling some relief, and while I'm hesistant to go and am made to feel silly for going most of the time (which is ridiculous), it really doesn't hurt.

My pain has eased off somewhat. yesterday I felt completely normal-like i could run for miles, but at night in bed even with all the pillows, hasn't been very nice. I did my normal yoga class and felt great after, might do a long walk later today and see what that does. I just need to bite the bullet and go.

I had my 20-wk scan yesterday and all ok! I was a bit less apprehensive this time as I am getting firmer kicks now and the Sonographer was in a better mood this time and was bordering on talkative :) We got a few pictures for us and Grandparents but you can't see much.

I was so tempted to change my mind when she asked if we wanted to know if the baby was a boy or girl but resisted the urge so it's a surprise!!

23 weeks today!
Hope you are all well.

re pillows, I didn't want to buy a new pillow but I have already for the last several weeks been sleeping with about 4 normal pillows! 2 under my head, one between my knees and one under my feet. I also have a small wedge-shaped pillow that I got second-hand under my bump (sleep on my side).

anyone going to any fireworks displays? I'm looking forward to the one at my local pub tonight.

Morning peeps. Just got back from my scan and thought I'd update you all before shooting off to work. Sonographer was sure it was a baby girl and showed us between her legs and said "look, nothing there". It was pretty convincing. I'm surprised as I was convinced it was a boy but happy none the less. Everything was fine and nothing to worry about so I'm relieved. Good luck to those having their scans today too, I remember quite a few were having it the same day as me.

Superpenguin since this is my last bonfire night before I have to consider the safety of a child I'm going to a the big fireworks display in Guildford. I went last year and it was really quite good. Anyway.. I suppose I better get off to work already. :(

Stoke Park tonight, if this weather keeps up it ownt be much fun.
I took the family to Ripley Bonfire and fireworks last weekend, have you ever been to that one?

No never been to that one. I'm only a pretend local :). Originally from Manchester so only been down this neck of the woods for 3 years. There are supposedly 2 other good ones going on tomorrow though if you're interested, one in Manor Park in Aldershot and one in Alton somewhere. I'm expecting the rain tonight so going armed with a brolly, I never let the rain stop me, it's not in my northern blood!

Had the day to get used to the idea of the baby being a "she" rather than an "it" and now I feel even more excited! Must resist temptation to shop though!

Sittinghippo - glad not jsut me. Yes I know WW and diet looms after the birth, don't need constant reminder now when I can't do much about it.

Congratulations to 1Catherine, Kagey, Jupiter and anyone else I've missed who has had their scans this week! It's so exciting!

So pleased that we have had a good few days/weeks of good news.

Just wanted to pop by to say hello. I haven't been around much recently as DS was rushed into hospital last Friday, he's home now and getting better but still needs a lot of TLC!

Going travel system shopping today!!!! probably browsing, not buying, but who knows. Also delivering a bed to my SIL which has now successfully cleared out the room that will become the nursery. very exciting.

Larty - I have been online all morning contemplating pushchairs.

I had my eart set on a Bug Bee. Just actually checked the price and i thought it was £419 with at least the basics, hood etc. Apparently not. With hood and cosy thing which a mum from the school said I would need it was about £550 , hat is before any other extras. Als all the reviews on here mention that past 18 months it is tiny... my boys have been reasonably large toddlers.

Then I thought about the pilko pramette for parent facingness (haha) but there is no harness for the pram setting which doesnt make me feel great.

So, has left me contemplating a Maclaren X something from birth with all th cosy stuff or a silver cross pramette looking thing.

I know maclarens aare great and most people end up with one at some point so wondering if I should just go with that - I dotn want to have to buy another down the line and the bugaboo is probably not going to last me and the pramette got awful reviews.

Might see if my mum wnats to come and have a look at pushchairs today..... then go with DH next week.

I could probably save loads of money this way too.

Larty have fun, I cant wait to go shopping- travel system is about the only big item I need to buy, as I still have cotbed and the like from DD1. Am probably going to wait to get Health in Pregnancy Grant in a few weeks.

catherine I will be sneaking up to the Manor Park one tonight as its not far from home, wont pay to go in, will stand up the top and see it all from the street for free.
How was Stoke Park did you get rained on?

Evian what was wrong with DS? Am glad he is much better now.

My own DD was terribly sick yesterday, while she was staying at her Aunts so I had to drive across town and collect a very forlorn little girl. Thankfully she is back to her normal self today.
