:) When you coming back Larty? I'm sure you have had a ball baby shopping there. Now you just have to come home and buy all the big bits.

I've been having a stress out this evening but I think I'm over it now. I set up my wii fit just to play and found out I was 1 lb lighter than I was 10 months ago. Since I haven't dieted or change my routine (between last March and when I conceived) I couldn't understand it. Having searched my maternity notes though I found at 12 weeks I was 12 stone 2, so I guess I must have lost 4 lb due to my morning sickness and only just managed to put 3 of them back on. I have been eating slightly better due to my pregnancy so maybe its normal. I'm still going to ask the midwife at my next appointment just to make sure but I am still overweight anyway so I'm sure baby isn't starving Grin Funny since I've never really cared about my weight enough to stress out about it and when I do it is because I am below what I expect.

Larty74 · 10/01/2011 03:40

We land Tues morning Catherine just one more flight(red eye-boo) and I wonder what the next flight will be like toting around a baby and all the kit! Have a new found respect for families in airports for the last few months.

I also only gained about 3 lbs over a very long space of time which I was shocked about as it sure didn't look or feel like it at the time, but I wasn't complaining! I'm sure its a bit more now. Have GP appt on Fri so will weigh in then.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 10/01/2011 10:45

Morning all.

Went on a tour of our hospital yesterday. Very pleased that all of the rooms have a corner bath since I enjoyed using the water with DS1 but wanted to get out of the pool later so this way I can labour in there and then get out. It is about a 30 min walk with my waddle and DH suggested we walk when I go into labour as it progresses quicker - not sure I will actually manage that but nice to see himt hinking about these things.

DH has gone shopping this morning and thanks to whoever mentioned Mothercare buy one get one half price he is off to mothercare to see if we can get some more sleepsuits.

Cant believe we are talking hospital bags.

gem3225 · 10/01/2011 11:12

i was told at my 30 week appointment the bady was lying vertical, not sure what way though!! i will ask again on wednesday as ill be 32 weeks then.

Cant work out from the kicks either, seems at night my little monster kicks we in both sides so none the wiser.

Really dont want a cs.

p.s, im so lucky as my lovely sis bought me a yummy mummy changing bag for my birthday, its just so gorge Grin

spaceal · 10/01/2011 11:19

Catherine, I'm still (at 31+4) about 6lbs lighter than my pre-pregnancy weight. I lost over a stone in the first trimester (nausea and extreme heartburn, I guess) and only started putting any weight on in the last few weeks. I was overweight to start with (am currently about 15 stone 5 Shock and had lost a couple of stone prior to conceiving) but have asked my consultant about the weight loss and she wasn't remotely concerned, so long as I was eating OK and the baby's clearly growing fine. HTH.

Safe journey, Larty.

gem3225 · 10/01/2011 11:22

well now im worried, i weighed 10st 10 pre pregnancy and i have gained just over a stone, im now 12st !!!!! which i thought was good, very steady weight gain of around 1lb a week although the last 2 weeks no increase

im quite envious of you girls who actually weigh less

jeffily · 10/01/2011 11:45

I'm with you gem firmly in the putting on weight camp! I was 10 1 pre pregnancy (which is up a whole stone on my pre-child weight Blush) and now am 11 4. I'm not too worried though as I haven't put on weight on my face and I always think that is when you can really tell you are eating too much! I remember after having DD though I could tell immediately that lots of that weight was water- my thighs seemed to go down overnight!

Oh dear, talking of DD she seems to have just found herself a chocolate biscuit (daddy leaves these things lying around and then lectures me about her eating too many biscuits Hmm) so better go and limit the chocolate disaster take it off her.

Have a nice day all!

gem3225 · 10/01/2011 12:13

jeffily same here, no visable weight gain apart from bump, but just cant believe how lucky catherine and a few others are.

spaceal · 10/01/2011 12:26

I'm definitely glad I haven't put on any weight, but since I started so much heavier, you're probably still in a better position than me, jeffily and gem. I am curious to see what happens with my weight after the birth though...

me23 · 10/01/2011 12:32

&Geeklove I'm planning on a home water birth too.
yes pettyprudence I have anterior placenta too.

Apart from the bump I feel slimmer that I did pre-pregnancy, although I was overweight to begin with, my face has got a lot slimmer. I haven't weighed myself in months.

I've been up most of the night alternating between going for a wee and acid indigestion Sad

This morning still feel sick and everything smells horrible, tried to eat some cereal but it stank!

more plumbing problems now boiler isn't working no heating or hot water, waiting for plumber.

sam26oscar · 10/01/2011 14:08

Oh no me23 i have just cranked the heating up at work as i am feeling a bit chilly. Don't think i could survive if my heating broke at home!

well had m/w appt this morning, all well, apparently baby is head down and lying to the right (little baby did not like her prodding one little bit) although she did think it was a head at the top when she first started prodding but then changed her mind, so still not convinced especially as DS was breech.

Does anyone know what is classed as low iron levels as mine came back at 11, and she asked if i was feeling tired...duh...bit of a silly question to ask a 32 week pregnant woman!! She said i could have some iron tablets if i thought i was more tired than normal. So obviously now i am trying to ascertain if i AM more tired!!!

Hope you all having good day drop back in later xx

jeffily · 10/01/2011 14:19

Grrrr. Why do the bloody builders down stairs have to wait until I have finally enticed DD into her bed for a nap to start demolishing the front wall of the house?! I have never heard such a racket, she'll be back up any minute and I still haven't marked the huge pile of science books I have on my desk, or made the chilli for tea, or, in fact, done anything but mess about on t'internet. Why am I finding it soo hard to motivate myself to get these things done?!

Tell me to get off MN and get on with my actual life ladies!

StrangewaysHereICome · 10/01/2011 14:23

Geeklove and me23 I am planning a homebirth too. I had one with dd2 and it was lovely Smile. Have to get to 37 though and I feel fit to burst already!!

sam when I had dd2 my iron levels went to 10.6 which was the cut off for a homebirth. So I think dipping under 11 is when taking iron might help. Spatone really helped to get my levels up a bit.

Blush @ jeffily you are so right, I have put on weight round my face but then I know I have been eating far too much!! I am wondering what the chances are of losing over 2 stone once I have popped Shock!

1Catherine1 · 10/01/2011 14:28

Jeffily GET ON WITH YOUR WORK! Grin

hmm... like I'm one to talk, I'm currently "teaching". Back has been playing up this morning so had to get crutch out of the car that physio gave me - so I'm desk bound. I wonder if I worked part time I'd have time to mark my books... I'm planning on staying behind after school today to mark a whole 10 books - I'm not going home till they're done - that's my motivation to finish them :)

jeffily · 10/01/2011 14:43

Thanks Catherine! Though now, of course, I have to reply to you and therefore STILL can't mark books....

My marking is only because we have OFSTED looming and I don't want to let down my jobshare partner by falling behind too badly. I try to stay on top of it but... well, just don't quite frankly.

I think that it would be easier to stay on top of marking if you work PT and don't have children. But I find that DD is not too happy to let me get on with marking when she is about- she always wants to join in and I am not sure that her scribbles count as 'constructive ways forward in learning'....

Yes, yes I know. I'm off to get on with making chilli. Marking can wait for later...

Grin
jeffily · 10/01/2011 14:44

PS sorry to hear that your back is giving you gyp. Don't stay at work too late tonight!

Larty74 · 10/01/2011 15:24

AAAAHHHH! My mom just gave me the best pressie ever. The hospital band my grandmother wore when my dad was born. made out of a string of little blue beads and white ones with letters spelling out my (former) surname. Definitely going in the nursery somwhere! Smile

Muser · 10/01/2011 15:42

Sympathies to those with aches and pains. My back hurts so much when I sit, it makes it very hard to concentrate on work. I really hope the baby drops a bit soon to relieve it. The thought of 7 more weeks of this is tough! I'm going to see an osteopath tomorrow who hopefully will help me out.

OP posts:
Medee · 10/01/2011 16:39

Sam 12 is the limit for giving blood (in fact, possibly 12.5 as you lose 0.5 by giving blood) so not massively under. Caveat - I am not a doctor nor in any way medically trained!

me23 · 10/01/2011 16:41

sam 11 is an excellent haemoglobin level at 32 weeks,The cut of is generally 10.5 I had a call from mws today my hb has dropped to 9.9 have collected some ferrous sulphate from mws but I'm going to try spatone as the tablets make me feel sick.

also urine sample shows high wbc count and mixed growth so need to see gp, will ask for antibiotics as I have symptoms of UTI.

spaceal · 10/01/2011 17:41

Just got back from scan and all looks good with the little one, measuring perfectly and weighing an estimated 3lbs 14oz. She is breech though - interestingly both my midwife (twice) and the consultant before she started scanning reckoned the baby was head down. I was sure she was breech and I'm right! Not sure I should feel so pleased with myself though since now we have to get her to turn. Apparently about 15-20% of babies are breech at this stage (31+4). Anyway, bought a gym ball on the way home from the hospital and will try that and getting on my hands and knees.

I've barely done any work today either, Catherine, spent most of the morning faffing and ignoring a pile of marking too Wink

jeffily · 10/01/2011 18:01

Oh My God. I've been on here far too much today, don't even want to count my posts as am too Blush but have just had some BIG news and got to share with someone (DD doesn't count as she just stares back at me and carries on insisting on putting on her shoes!)

DH and I have been talking about making a move to the west country for ages and were planning to do it this summer while I was on ML to see if we could make a go of it. No jobs lined up or anything, just see what we could get (he does have a 3 day a month job that pays enough that we'd be able to pay a cheap rent so that's not quite as mad as it sounds!). Anyway, he's just gone and got himself a job down there!!!!!!! 0.4 which is perfect as leaves him time to develop his free lance and do his other job. They want him to start ASAP!!!! SO looks like I'll be having this baby then moving house/city to town/county pretty sharpish. Am so so excited and, now that it's real a bit scared about moving to a brand new place where I'll know no one with a toddler and a newborn. Eeeeeeek!

Right. Must go and bath and play with my lovely DD. Thanks for being there all. x

KPidgeon · 10/01/2011 20:54

Gosh- loads to catch up on again- and I want to watch OGBEM too so must be quick!

Jeffily- 33 weeks? Wow. I have a sudden urge to pack my bag now!

OH gawd, weight- I've officially stopped weighing myself because it was stressing me out. 10 stone pre-pregnancy. 12 and a half!!! at the start of the third trimester. What's the point in me seeing the scales go up. I hope it's all water retention. Like- LOADS of water!- JeffilyI'm banking on what you said now!

and Jeffily again- Congratulations on your DH's job. We're in a similar position. MY DH has a new job in West Sussex- starting Feb though we will move ASAP after the baby is born. A new start in the countryside- escaping the London commute. Though the thought of making a whole gang of new friends and meeting new mums is a bit daunting. Exciting though! Congratulations to you all.

My iron came back as 11 at my 28 week bloods and my midwife advised to take a multivitamin with iron if I was feeling tired..so I will just to be on the safe side.

Right- got to switch on the telly now to prepare myself!

Jenchandler · 10/01/2011 22:09

Hi all!
Hope every one is doing well. I can't believe I'm 30 weeks. Crikey time is flying! Finally got a travel system, went for the mamas and papas Sola. Really pleased with it. We also cleared out the study which will be the nursery. Just need some furniture for it.
Lucky those escaping London - wish we could! Hopefully only 1 year left before my husband will get a new job and we can move to the countryside too!

I just watched OBEM - worried now! Antenatal starts tomorrow, hopefully will calm my nerves.
Hope everyone is good xxx
PS - Im not weighing myself!!

sam26oscar · 10/01/2011 22:11

jeffily where abouts in the west are you moving too??

what is spatone??Is it like berroca?? and can i buy it over the counter??!!

Anyone watch one born every minute think the woman writhing around and screaming like a banshee was annoying?? I know everyone has a different pain threshold and different ways of dealing with pain but blimey, if i was expecting my first baby after watching that i would seriously shit myself!!!
