New trimester, new thread. Here's to us becoming grumpy, impatient, fat and uncomfy while counting down the days... :o [hhmm] :o

RockLover · 11/01/2011 09:40

I'm sure he will, he's absolutely lovely to me. I just wish I could get out a bit more, I'm going a bit mad at home, but I just feel so shit that I cannot be arsed ato make the effort.

God, I'm a right moaner today! Pregnant ladies are allowed to be moody though aren't they?

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 11/01/2011 09:42

Yes indeed we are. Almost killed my DH for eating noisily last night, but to be fair to me, it would have stood up in court if I had.

Just finished half a chocolate cake and milk for breakfast. Friend baked it for me for my birthday and brought it over last night - said it didn't keep so I was only doing as I was told.

RockLover · 11/01/2011 09:47

I wish I had some cake, but I'm desperately trying to cut my sugar intake down. However the 2 chocolate Hobnobs I had this morning probably didn't help my glucose levels lol.

LadyBuzz · 11/01/2011 10:01

Oooh rock I don't blame you for not attempting that hill!!

I manage usually 1 of 2 school runs a day which is only a 5 min walk on the flat!
My lovely friend does the other way for me.

SIL has DS2 today, bless her I am really really grateful to her for giving me a bit of peace, its the little things that I struggle with like getting back off the floor after I have changed or dressed him - I want my body back!!!

zippy enjoy your massage Envy

1 week today for me!!

If any babies feel like being born today it would be a very very cool DOB 11/1/11.

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 11/01/2011 10:08

I know what you mean LadyB - if I do get down on the floor to play a puzzle or something, I'm there for days as I can't get back up!

I was thinking 11/1/11 would be a cool day too to be born. Don't think it's happening for me today, absolutely no cramps today. Sweep this pm though, so here's hoping they can do something magic :)

One week for you! Wow! Jealous!!

Fuzzywood · 11/01/2011 10:12

Morning all, I'm avoiding a flat walk as well at the moment so don't blame you for avoiding hills Rock.
What was the ginger woman doing in OBEM then, didn't watch it as decided a bit of grim TV was in order with Silent Witness. Assuming she was screaming and making a huge fuss, don't let it worry you, seriously if it was that bad I wouldn't be doing it again!
Just back from MW, baby Fuzzy is definitely head down, hurrah! Also no glucose today so feeling the need to finish off the chocolate cornflake cluster things that are calling to me in the kitchen!
Ladybuzz I'm struggling with the whole getting DD dressed etc, doing jigsaws on the floor yesterday nearly did for me!

CupcakesHay · 11/01/2011 10:45

Morning all. Just had Yule log for breakfast. In my defence, sell by date was today!

Zippy have a lovely massage! you lucky girl!

And rock i'm with you on hills. I make my dad drop me everywhere these days - so i understand completely. And sorry you're atill feeling crappy with the iron tablets.

oooh - isn't it exciting looking at the list wondering who's next (NOT ME)

Isn't it sweep day today bubba???

I slept ish-crappy ish-ok. When I was asleep it was lovely, but then after getting up for a wee it was horrid trying to get back to sleep and i had stupid "burnt tongue syndrome" (that's what I call it) and sore throat. but like i said sleeping bit, was quite lovely.

fuzzy pleased baby fuzzy is down proper - feels like my baby is getting in the right place... he def had a move around last night - and I woke up feeling quite pained down there.

And sooooooo pleased i didn't watch one born every minute. The way you are all talking - i think I'd rather watch a Nightmare on Elm st movie!

Do you think my car seat will arrive today???

Crystylline · 11/01/2011 10:55

my bowl of cereals sounds positively dull compared to everyone else's yummy breakfasts!

hmmm... maybe time to go raid the bread bin for sweet treats.

gl with your sweep today bubba

conversely to rock, i really fancy a walk today. beginning to get a little bit of cabin fever and could do with being out and about for a bit, though I know i'll regret it later. symp for that huge hill though - i don't want that kind of a walk!

and FYI, whilst we're all waiting:

"research shows that only 5% of babies are actually born on their predicted due date, 70% tend to arrive after this whereas 30% come into the world 'early'. As a little reassurance though around 80% of healthy babies are born within the two weeks before, or the two weeks after their EDD, so mentally preparing yourself for your baby's arrival sometime between the 38th and 42nd weeks of your pregnancy is a good idea. In fact some doctors have even recommend estimating a month of arrival rather than a specific day."

RockLover · 11/01/2011 11:00

I decided to watch OBEM on 4OD, that screaming lady was scary! I know she defended herself at the end and said the screaming made her feel better, but I can't see how.

I tend to withdraw into myself when I'm ill or in pain, I will utter the odd moan or expletive, but on the whole I think I'm fairly quiet. I certainly didn't scream when I was in labour with DD, I'm pretty sure I cried and felt very sorry for myself though. It's hard to remember as it was 6 years ago now.

I'm hoping that I can cope ok this time round, the worst thing for me is being out of control and once you've lost it, it's very difficult regaining it. I'm really not looking forward to the birth!!!!

CupcakesHay · 11/01/2011 11:16

No - i'm a swearer when i'm in pain. The maternity ward will be turning blue with me around!

crystylline my mum was only asking yesertday "how many babies are due on their due date" - so you've saved me some leg work.

Have decided to have a curry on the 1st Feb if baby isn't here by then.

Was totting up days - and figured if baby comes on the 1st, then I should be home in Syria by 31st March, which will have been about 21.5 weeks away from home (and my cats!) Sad i miss my cats too much!

RockLover · 11/01/2011 11:48

I'm sure your cats miss you too Cupcake! But rest assured when you have baby, you will probably not have time to miss the kittys so much, so that will help hopefully.

RunningKatie · 11/01/2011 11:51

gallicgirl - not been to Fresh Basil, my friend's a teacher at a secondary school in Belper so we rarely venture out there as inevitably we're served by one of her pupils! I'll put it on my list to try though, DP was asking if there were any coffee shops within a 20 mile radius I don't have an opinion on! :)

We've just been on a road trip, DP managed to leave his laptop cable in the office yesterday, so sheepishly told me he'd have to drive there this morning. I think he was a bit taken aback by my rolling out of bed and asking if I could go too. So, I've been up to Sheffield and back before lunch! Anything to avoid the ironing pile Grin

Zippy, I think DP had nightmares after OBEM last night, I'm just telling myself they have to pick births that are a bit more unusual/tricky to fill the hour long programme. Either way, bump got a firm talking to about not being that overdue and also not making me scream like a banshee.

Good luck with the sweep Bubba.

CupcakesHay · 11/01/2011 11:56

be warned - i'm about to RANT.

ok - so my car seat, ordered it on Xmas Day and was told delivery would be within 7 working days. 7 days went by, so I emailled Halfords custoemr service and they said "you have to track your order online" - but their stupid website kept timing out. So emailled again, got same response - tried again. Emailled again, said basically "your website's rubbish - can you find out where my car seat is?" - finally come back to me today - "ooh we're having problems with the britax factory.... so we reckon it should be with you by the 24th." ... should - so that's GREAT! how f-ing annoying. And now i don't know what to do. I sent email asking if they can confirm for sure, or put me at top of list.

If they had told me when i was asking originally, then i could have cancelled my order and got another bargain. And i really wanted the blue one - and now i don't know what to do. Shall I wait and hope, or shall I cancel my order and just buy a more expensive one than the bargain I found. god i am so Angry mad with them - i think it's cos of all the chasing - if they told me straight off, different story. And it's not just the money, although i was very pleased to have my bargain car seat in a colour I liked.... grrrr....AngryAngryAngry

CupcakesHay · 11/01/2011 11:59

Sorry - rant over!

Good for you avoiding ironing running

Crystylline · 11/01/2011 12:11

cupcakes

Get all of that in writing from them.

Were you paying a delivery charge? if so, write back and say you expect that to be refunded due to the problems with the order.

Stamp your feet a bit more too... tell them baby's due date etc. if they have any standards whatsoever, you should get an apology and poss even a voucher or discount.

Either way, unless you can find the same seat for the same price with another supplier, I'd hang in there.

Pootle78 · 11/01/2011 12:27

Ladies can we stop taling about ironing, I thought we all had an understanding that that word and actions relating to that word have been banished from this thread!!!!! Smile Grin Wink

Cupcakes try Kiddicare, just has a quick look on their website and they have a light blue brittax car seat, they will also price match and I think it is free delivery. I am lucky that they are only 40 minutes down the road and bought my brittax b-smart and car seat from them (in red!) and it was the cheapest I found anywhere

Better think about getting dressed, mil is coming back to day to finish the kitchen!

gallicgirl · 11/01/2011 12:33

They're probably not fobbing you off about the supplier. I know it took weeks for my pram to arrive and the issue was the car seat. OOOO that reminds me, I must call the shop and tell them when I'm picking it up!!!
Thanks cupcakes - can you find the same car seat elsewhere that is able to deliver? I'd perhaps use that as a bargaining chip but if they haven't got it, then there's not a lot they can do other than refund the delivery charge.

katie I luuurve Fresh Basil and could happily spend a fortune there. It's well worth a visit and is always busy. I'm salivating just thinking about their Eggs Basil (poached egg, super thick bacon and basil pesto on a rocket salad).

My order from Kiddicare arrived promptly so I now have more washing to do but I also think I have all my baby stuff now. I'm not keen on the changing mat but for £6 I'm not about to send it back. I'll just get a better one at some point. I know the DP was after a cot top changing table/mat so might consider that.

RunningKatie · 11/01/2011 12:57

Gallic - are you in Belper then? The eggs basil sounds amazing.

I was all for picketing Halfords for Cupcakes so am slightly disappointed you're all coming up with sensible suggestions.

Sorry Pootle, my bad mentioning the ironing. Blush

gallicgirl · 11/01/2011 13:00

Nope, Essex but my step-mother lives in Belper and I'm almost a northerner by birth so I'm familiar with the area.

CupcakesHay · 11/01/2011 13:04

Thanks all - going to check out kiddicare, and if not going to hang in there. but good idea abotu the delivery charge crystylline - i sent a bit of a "disgraceful" kind of email and whinged about their customer service.

Anyhow - don't know why i'm worrying baby's not coming til 1st feb Grin

And pootle you are right - we did ban the I word! Naughty running bringing it up!

And gallic just think - the changing mat will be covered with poo soon enough Grin

right - going to go "swimming" now.... well - as long as i can squeeze my contacts in my eyes - won't be able to cope if i'm blind - and hagte "swimming" with my glasses.

Crystylline · 11/01/2011 13:27

well, I got my Sainsbo's voucher from the MN Xmas comp...

so, what shall i buy with it?

I was thinking an IPod as I don't have one and love all the chat about music for labour/hospital etc. also spending hours putting my cds on it would be actually rather fun.

also, thinking about a breast pump - any recommendations?

but, no idea what to do with the rest.

So, you've got £100 to spend in sainsbos - what would you buy?

gallicgirl · 11/01/2011 13:44

I think I'm going to get this breast pump. I like that I won't need separate bottles. I'm hoping to breastfeed so don't want to spend a lot. I've seen it cheaper than that btw.
I don't know when to buy it though and I'm tempted to wait until after the birth and see how it all goes.

I love my i-pod and can't imagine life without it. I have a 4GB nano but one of the old ones. It does the job but to be honest I need a bigger one as it doesn't hold enough music for my tastes. I would love an i-pod Touch but can't afford one of the big ones and I can't see the point of buying one with only 8GB memory. It all depends how much music you have and listen to. My DP used to work for Virgin so we have a LOT of cds.

LadyBuzz · 11/01/2011 14:57

I have an old style nano too but I think its on its way out Sad I was considering a shuffle but we also have alot of music (funnily enough as I worked WITH Virgin gallic) and i do like being able to see the track list which I don't think you can with a shuffle?

cupcake hope your seat arrives in time, as you say it will cause baby isn't coming til the 1st Grin.

bubba are you there, how did the sweep go? ooooh will we get an 11/1/11 baby???

gallic I had that pump, it was fine, i've also had the tommee tippee closer to nature - also fine. IMO they are much of a muchness but i'm no expert as I really struggled to feed the boys - and gave up!
Still I WILL try again this time you just never know!

gallicgirl · 11/01/2011 15:05

No, the shuffle talks the track list to you instead. It's neat though so as long as you don't mind swapping and changing your music a lot, then it works out.

lady you should see our "nursery". In reality it's a cd room and I think the DP is only just realising he may have to move some of his alphabetised cds Grin. Just wait til I put the cot up.

The mattress arrived today and now I want to put it all up but we still have a futon in the spare room so there's no room, and we're not getting rid of the futon until mothers have visited to hinder help me after the birth and to see the baby.

RunningKatie · 11/01/2011 15:38

I don't have an ipod at all, I did win an ipod touch at a conference and had to google it to find out what one was. Blush I flogged it on ebay in the end which I'm now slightly regretting.

Have just been for a walk to the library, since I last walked there I swear it's moved 5 miles away and Mount Everest has been put in the way. On the plus side I managed to borrow this months Prima Baby and a wedding magazine so I'm now sat with a hot choc and 2 lovely magazines.
