New trimester, new thread. Here's to us becoming grumpy, impatient, fat and uncomfy while counting down the days... :o [hhmm] :o

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 09/01/2011 18:56

Rock they won't induce me because of previous c-section (something about too muhch pressure on the scar with the intensity of an induction)

I was checked for GD earlier on in this pg but had no physical 'symptoms' as such other than high glucose in my urine (was given the GTT test then to double check), and also previous babies' weight was taken into account.

I've just found tinsel down my bra??! Maybe they are big after all, so big I forgot I'd decorated them for Christmas and hadn't taken the decorations down yet??! :o :o

LadyBuzz · 09/01/2011 18:58

Yay my crib is fixed, at least babybuzz won't fall through the bottom!

I seem to wee all night too, pointless nothing wees so very annoying!

Sunday dinner at MILs for us mmmmm!

Shanster · 09/01/2011 19:01

Flora many congrats on your wee bundle of joy! Sorry you had a crappy time in the hospital though! I was induced with DD1 and am bound and determined to avoid it this time so you have given me hope.

Saltnvinegarcrisps - on the deli meat, apparently there is a listeria risk from eating deli meat. I think it is all nonsense, as I have never gotten sick from a turkey sandwich. My OB told me some delis use the same slicers for the meat and runny cheese, but the chances seem so remote I ignore :)

Cupcakes I was sorely tempted to throw the food at the cashier, but contented myself with telling her that I'd been up all night with a sick toddler and needed the bloody caffeine in the coke to get me through the afternoon.

Crystylline, I feel your pain. I get no paid mat leave and will be working until I go into labour. From then, I get 6 weeks unpaid and then will be taking 8 weeks more working 16 hours a week from home. Most of the women at my work come back FT at 4 weeks postpartum, which I just can't fathom. We are forecast to get a bad snow storm here tonight, so I'm hoping I can get 2 work from home days out of it! At least that way I can work in my pjs and have a cuddle with DD1 every hour or so.

We are finally getting organised here today, DH just put together the arms reach co-sleeper (so excited to have one this time, would have been such a god send with DD1 who fed all night until she was 1)...and a set of drawers for the baby's things. Now I can start washing all the things I have looked out from DD1, organise them and then see if I need to buy anything else. I think baby has dropped too, as the bump is now much lower and leans forward. His big sister was still transverse at this point, so I think he must have inherited my sense of direction (DH gets lost in our small town and we have lived here for 6 years).

Enjoy your Sunday dinners, all this talk of roast chicken is making me hungry!

Crystylline · 09/01/2011 19:02

bubba i've just wet myself!! Grin Grin

tinsel! you're a legend, an absolute legend!

and as for low bumps - it's my first, but bump has def dropped lower - i know because happily i can now breathe! that and i now have a constant feeling of pressure low into my pelvis. Head was 2/5ths engaged this week, so baby is def slowly following the exit signs. Smile

RockLover · 09/01/2011 19:03

I'm just waiting for my roast dinner at the mo (courtesy of lovely dp). DD is marinating in the bath until I wash her hair in a few mins, then we can all sit down to eat. We were a bit late getting to the shops, hence a late dinner lol.

I suppose I better go and dig out some night clothes for dd so that I can get her sorted, then I can veg out for the rest of the evening (whilst trying to avoid sugary snacks :().

Crystylline · 09/01/2011 19:06

x post...

shan ouch on your mat leave! my six weeks is at least paid and i had two weeks of holiday time banked, which is what i'm currently taking.

so, options are... claim benefits for 3 months and struggle like mad with money, or go back to work f/t and struggle like mad with the baby.

I've no idea what i'll eventually do - will have to wait and see how fit and well me and the baby turn out to be. if i have to have a c-section, i won't be able to go back to work for 6 weeks anyway, as i won't be able to drive.

it's ridiculous that any government thinks it's safe or responsible to put pressure on a woman to return to work so soon after such a life and physically changing event as having a baby.

can't tell you how sad and angry it makes me.

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 09/01/2011 19:11

I read that as "DD is urinating in the bath" Rock which is probably what my two do actually do!!

Also, if trying to avoid sugary stuff, you wouldn't have a bite to eat here as all in our cupboards is yummy stuff - krispi kremes (bday pressie from a friend), pink iced cupcakes (bday cakes from the girls), mahoosive box of Thorntons (weirdly forgotten-about maternity pressie from work - just re-found them this morning!), cadbury caramel bite thingies (bday pressie from DH), marshmallows (to go with hot chocs and whipped cream), peppermint creams (stuck hard to a plate, left over from Christmas still), Ben & Jerry's Phish Food (demanded by babybubba every night so far for the past two weeks?!) and a big pot of custard. Must get some fruit and veg when I do the shop tomorrow!! Blush

LadyBuzz · 09/01/2011 19:15

bubba do you live with me? Grin
No Krispy Kremes here though Envy

love the tinsel enhanced boobs Grin

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 09/01/2011 19:18

Yes LadyB - check out the veggie slob with betinselled boobs over there on your sofa - think I snuggled in with you back in the first trimester when there were people discussing healthy food while you and I were discussing which takeaway to get! :o :o

shanster that's crappiness in the extreme with your maternity pay. Is that normal in the US?

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 09/01/2011 19:22

(and by veggie, I clearly mean carnivore-wot-vegitates, before we get any mixed messages getting out there!!)

LadyBuzz · 09/01/2011 19:22

bubba yes I remember it well - it most certainly has not got any better here. I figure with only 8 days left I might as well make the most of it Grin

RunningKatie · 09/01/2011 20:14

Wowsers, I go out for a bit and you lot talk! :)

Firstly, Flora - many congrats on the arrival of your DS. I had thought you'd been missing a few days, but the threads moved so fast I wasn't sure if I was imagining it.

Congrats on the birthday too Bubba.

I had a sleepness night last night, felt like the baby had moved from the usual position and had taken up residence over my hip. I was up at midnight just sitting on the toilet wondering what on the earth to do with myself. I didn't even need a wee, I'd just wandered in there on auto-pilot. Have sat on the birthing ball a lot today and also given the bump a firm talking to and they appear to be doing as they are told so fingers crossed for a better night!

As previously shared, I do have the leaky boobs issue, but mostly just the left boob and just when I'm lying in bed. It's not the classy image I try to portray to DP Grin I'm suspecting I'll need some proper nursing bra's but after the rubbish that was M&S I'm not in a hurry to go back there.

2 weeks to go now, we fitted the car seat today, and then went out for coffee and cake to celebrate.

Fuzzywood · 09/01/2011 20:18

Fuzzy jnr is doing the alien thing tonight, seems like it's doing press ups and sticking itself as far out as possible, very odd. Still can't decide whether the big round bit up by my ribs is bum or head. Think I'll phone the mw tomorrow to see what she thinks, really hope it hasn't done a flip over.
Just trying to decide what to have to eat, DH can't believe I'm hungry again after such a large lunch Grin. Hoping I can get breast feeding sorted again with thus one as that too is a great excuse for eating loads!
I too am peeing loads at night, think it was 5 times last night, no wonder I'm tired! As for bras I've got the feeding ones I used last time out of the loft so hoping they fit again, 32DD if I remember rightly, they look huge, DH looks happy!
Glad to hear you've been spoilt all day Bubba

RockLover · 09/01/2011 20:57

I am totally Envy of your cupboards full of amazing food bubba! I do have a few sweet things (digestives, cereal and some Rice Krispie squares). However the Rice Krispies squares are for my hospital bag so I MUST leave them alone!!!

Shanster · 10/01/2011 02:29

Yeah, just had an email from work to say we're to work from home due to the snow :) I'm really hoping it will last until Tuesday, as I'm off on Wednesdays which would mean no office until Thursday.
bubba, hope you had a lovely birthday! Unfortunately my mat leave is typical in the US, I don't know any company that gives paid mat leave of more than a few days and the law only requires a company to keep your job open for 12 weeks from your last day in the office - and that only aplies to companies with more than 50 employees. I'm actually pretty lucky that my boss will let me take 14 weeks just now, even working PT from home for 8 weeks. Nevermind, I managed last time and it will be fine this time too.

I also pulled out my feeding bras today, 32Hs but they look done in...I did wear them for over a year with DD, and there doesn't seem to be much support left in them. Hopefully this time they won't be quite so enormous :)

mimou · 10/01/2011 04:03

Can I stop lurking and come for a bit of a moan.

Feeling thoroughly fed up tonight. Can't sleep because I'm too huge to get comfy and need to wee every 30 mins or whenever I try to change position. DS is teething and waking every hour or so, so up and down all night anyway and DH is snoring so no chance of sleep in-between times. Have heartburn but ran out of Gaviscon. Came downstairs in the hope a glass of milk would help but DH has drunk it all.

Feeling thoroughly fed up but know I have no right to really. Here I am expecting second DC in three years and my sister has just texted from Oz to tell me that after two years TTC and treatment for endometriosis she is having her second MC in as many months :( Wish I could do something to help.

OK, sorry for being morose, but needed to have a virtual weep. Not many other people I can moan to at 4am and no one knows about DSis's situation but me.

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 10/01/2011 07:52

Your poor sis mimou - I went through similar with my sister - she miscarried earlier this year while I was asking her if she and her DH had decided to try again or not (they'd been talking about it) - her 2nd mc, although she does have 2 DDs but wants a 3rd DC. It's very hard to know what to say and do, as you want to share your excitement with them but don't want to rub it in their faces, or exclude them totally. Very hard.

I've been up since 3am with cramps. Nothing regular or exciting, but have made DH keep mobile on during teaching today in case I need to order him home. Wishful thinking on my part I think!

LadyBuzz · 10/01/2011 08:10

bubba I will have my fingers firmly crossed for you just in case!

mimou moan away, we are good at that here at the moment. Your poor Sis, and DS - hope his teeth stop before this
LO arrives.

shanster I am shocked at the maternity provisions in the US - It makes me feel very very lucky indeed. And Yay at getting to stay at home!!

RockLover · 10/01/2011 09:23

Morning ladies, how is everyone today? I had a very weird night last night.

Had just got into bed and was talking to dp when suddenly got a tummy ache like I needed the loo, so I duly waddled off. Got back into bed ready to settle down and suddenly got a really sore BH contraction (well I assume that's what it was) across the bottom of my bump. It passed, then had another 3 or 4, then had an upset tummy and felt really sick. Then it all went away.

I felt a bit grotty when I first got up this morning, but I feel ok at the moment. I never had anything like that at all with dd so I must admit I felt a tiny bit panicky Blush.

Anyway, baby is moving well and I'm pretty sure nothing is going to happen imminently. It better not anyway, I'm still waiting for my cheapy nightshirts to be delivered so I can pack my hpospital bag. Baby's bag is packed, so I'm halfway there, but still not quite ready for labour yet. :)

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 10/01/2011 09:26

Sounds like my night Rock Hmm

Things have calmed a bit here, but still crampy, but less regular than in the night - just had a warm bath and a krispi kreme...

Keep us posted.

RockLover · 10/01/2011 09:37

Ooh, sounds promising bubba, I will keep my fingers crossed for you. :)

RunningKatie · 10/01/2011 09:50

Sorry to hear about your bad nights Rock and Bubba - nothing like cramps or anything verging on stuff might be happening here.

Going to the gym in a bit, will sit on a bike watching people in the pool and then I'm going out for lunch with my running buddies. :)

Mimou, sorry to hear about your DSis, very difficult especially when you're pg yourself. Hope DS is feeling better soon.

We got some fizzy space dust in a nostalgia sweets hamper for Christmas. Do you think it'd scare the baby if I try it?! Grin

Crystylline · 10/01/2011 09:56

morning.

was about to say no change here, but just had a horrible pelvic cramp. could well be bump fidgeting, but boy did it hurt!

surprisingly, i slept pretty well last night!

and hello mimou... rant away!

have you tried mint tea for the heartburn? i find it can work quite well, that or camomile.

sorry to hear about your sis. horrible news and quite a big burden for you too.

keep in touch and eat some chocolate - it seems to be this groups magic cure all for woes.

ZippyPippy · 10/01/2011 10:15

rock I'd probably get a bag packed just in case... sounds like something might be going on with you and bubba....keep us posted.

Am so Envy Envy Envy that bubba just ate a krispy kreme!!!!

CupcakesHay · 10/01/2011 10:44

right - I don't think i should go to bed early again - I miss out on too much chat here!

Love the decorated boobs bubba - tinsel! And loving your cupboards - especially the donuts! mmmmm Grin

And running i do the same with "auto-wees" in the night - even if i'm getting up for a glass of water, i just try and go figuring if not i'll be needing to go in another hour!

crystylline that is crappy about your mat leave - and you too shan. But you've made me feel a bit better with your dry mouth crysty

Oh - and on the leaking boob front - still not happening - but i'm DRIBBLING so much in my sleep that I may as well be having leaking boobs! Bet DH is looking forward to sharing a bed with me again! I've kept the fidgetting and dribbling secret - so it'll be a lovely surprise for him Grin

Your poor sis mimou - that must be horrid for her. When are you due? If it makes you feel better - we're all stupidly uncomfy at night and not sleeping properly. Misery loves company - well - in our case - whingeing loves company! Wink

And bubba and rock - Hmm cramping and stuff - so.... how are you feeling? do you think it's time? I've had a few BH's but i don't think they are always a sign are they? If so mine have been going on for a week or so....

Just got a parcel from my friend - so going to open that!

Went to bed at 9 last ngiht - was watching LArk Rise nad dozed off - so my mum woke me up and sent me to bed - and then slept til 12 (wow - 3 hours without a wee!) and then couldn't sleep again til 3am.... listened to glee and read.

Going to boots to get my TENS machine today!
