New trimester, new thread. Here's to us becoming grumpy, impatient, fat and uncomfy while counting down the days... :o [hhmm] :o

I've been researching pain relief methods, and have a question.

Does anyone else find themselves mentally replacing 'G&A' with 'G&T'? My brain seems stuck on some kind of freudian slip. Hmm

BubbaAndBump · 26/10/2010 06:45

G&T - mmmmmmmmh

G&A - not so mmmmmmmmh (though you may be chomping on the G&A tube as though your life depended on it! :) )

Welcome pootle

Up since 5 this am. Want to build bunk beds and fill in birthday/diary/scrapbooks but am now doing a giant alphabet puzzle. Either way that's a sad life to have!! :o :o

Having a bit of a stress this morning. :(

Woke up in the night to find a bit of very light bleeding when I went to the loo. Tried not to stress about it, then there was a bit more this morning. Have rung the midwife who have told me to monitor it, if it gets heavier to ring again as they'll want to see me. Poor DP has gone off to Paris so feels very useless but he can get back if I need him.

Baby is still wriggling, just got into work and s/he's already had a kick at my desk so I'm trying to not focus on it. Easier said than done......

LadyBuzz · 26/10/2010 09:44

running poor you. Baby kicking is a really really good sign.
Keep an eye on it (like you need told to do that) and try not to worry (easier said then done I know).

Let us know how you are.

AmIGoingMad · 26/10/2010 10:59

Running don't panic- although I'm totally aware that that's a useless bit of advice that's impossible to follow! One of my workmates is 34 wks and had some bleeding- she's been monitored and been told that all is fine and that it just happens sometimes. Hope that gives you some encouragement.
Keep us posted! x

BubbaAndBump · 26/10/2010 12:18

Sending you lots of good wishes Running

Like LadyB says, kicking baby is a very good sign.

Running Hope it's ok- i agree - a friend had light bleeding at 28wks - and all was fine let us know though.

Pram wise -I have a mamas and papas ultimo - which i got back in june [hblush]... but i got it from gumtree so got a bargain, and love it. It's got the carrycot bit and then a buggy attachment for when they're older.

I've also got a changing table and rainforest swing chair - again, gumtree...! Currently all sitting in mum's loft.

Hi pootle and good to see you again amigoingmad

My friends are here and i'm exhausted already and they've only been here one day :)

After my huge bought of being organised, DH is now quite adamant everything will be in Christmas sales, so wants to leave it til then!

Hope all are having a nice half term :)

Pootle78 · 26/10/2010 17:53

Thank you all for your welcomes

Running reiterate what everyone else is saying, sending you lots of good vibes

Can someone let me know how often we are supposed to be seeing midwife for #1?

I haven't seen anyone since 21 weeks where I was told at that appointment to book in for 25 weeks and then will be seen every 3 weeks, couldn't see anyone at 25 due to exams and have been unable to get another appointment so midwife phoned me and managed to squeeze me in on Thursday 27 weeks, she phoned me today to ask to move it and when I queries a couple of things told me that it was right I hadn't seen anyone and that our midwives see people more than they should - is this right cause it's not what the first one said?

I just don't like this assuming we know what is happening!!!

Sorry another long moan!!!

FloraPost · 26/10/2010 18:48

Sorry to hear you're having problems Pootle. I think each hospital trust is different but, for what it's worth, at my booking appointment I was given a list of appointments thus:

12 weeks - dating scan
16 weeks - midwife
20-21 weeks - anomaly scan
25 weeks - GP
28 weeks - midwife (though I'm seeing the consultant instead)
31 weeks - GP
34 weeks - midwife
36 weeks - midwife
38 weeks - GP
40 weeks - midwife
41 weeks (let's bloody hope not) - midwife

The appointments so far have been fairly cursory - just blood pressure and wee testing. I think they get more interested after 30 weeks.

We also got info at the booking appointment about evenings at the hospital on early pregnancy, preparing for birth, home birth and breastfeeding. Maybe your hospital does these?

Hope you are ok Running.

Fuzzywood · 26/10/2010 19:04

Just read a pregnancy thread from JJKM which started off asking whether leaking fluid at 26 weeks was normal and discovered the twins have arrived. (on iPhone so can't do links)
JJKM hope you don't mind me telling the others and hope all is going well, will be thinking of you all.

WestYorkshireGirl · 26/10/2010 20:08

Running how's things? I hope you are ok?
Welcome Pootle.
Hope all the teachers are enjoying half term - I used to be a teacher, but don't miss the half terms anymore!
Re. prams - it all seems a bit of a nightmare and then there's the travel system things. I suppose you just have to go and look at them and speak to the assistants?
Bubba Ikea is always a bit of a big thing isn't it? I think we are taking a morning off and going in the week the week after next to get some blinds and things for new kitchen, but will just have to look at the children's section!!

Wow jjkm, congratulations!! Glad the girls are doing well. Hope you are ok too. Have you picked names?

Fuzzywood · 26/10/2010 20:32

Glad to hear it's all going well Jjkm must have been a bit if shock to say the least. Will be thinking of your girls, do you have names yet? x

ZippyPippy · 26/10/2010 21:05

Goodness I didn't expect to log on to find the arrivals had started - Congratulations JJKM, what an early surprise!! Will be thinking of you, am sure it's very emotional and stressful but they are in the best place to grow and get strong. Do let us have names and stats when you can x

LadyBuzz · 26/10/2010 22:09

jjkm congratulations glad the girls are doing well!

running how are you?

BubbaAndBump · 26/10/2010 22:59

Congratulations jjkm - you knew they were going to come early, just maybe not this early! SCBU will look after them well until they're ready to go home with you. All our best wishes here in the meantime :)

RunningKatie · 27/10/2010 09:44

Thank you everyone for your thoughts, I came home yesterday afternoon and had a good sleep on the sofa. Bump is still very active and there's been no more bleeding so I'm feeling quite optimistic. Have taken today off work too and am just going to take it easy.

Wow jjkm - many congrats on the arrival of the girls. Hope that they are doing ok in SCBU.

Pootle - my antenatal appts look very much the same as Flora's. It's my first too so it does seem we're seen more regularly first time around. Hope you get it sorted.

BubbaAndBump · 27/10/2010 09:57

Glad to hear all's okay RK - and good to take it easy today. It's funny how once there's a little person involved, we're all much more sensible with our health. Where I wouldn't normally take a day off if feeling not right, when pg I'd do it without a moment's thought (well, maybe a little moment, but not much more than that!)

CupcakesHay · 27/10/2010 20:59

JJKM Congrats :) Very early - but just think of the fun Christmas you will have!!!! Love to you all! And please please do a photo and tell us names when oyu decide!

Running pleased all a bit better - have a few more days of rest - promise!

Pootle i'm an odd one cos i;m abroad, but they wanted me to have roughly what flora had midwife wise - i have an appt as soon as i'm back in Devon in Dec - and I have a 34 week measurement scan booked in.

Still in shock about the twins coming! Makes me realise how close all of this is getting for all of us!

Pootle78 · 27/10/2010 22:00

Congrats JJKM

Well I got my GTT results today and no GD so yay!!!!

Also was told I was due to be shared consultant care due to high BMI and he told me today he didn't want to see again - yay again!

And have got an appointment with the midwife tomorrow so triple yay!

CupcakesHay · 28/10/2010 11:54

pootle good news all round then! I was the same with the consultant cos of my BMI....

Are you finding out sex of baby?

RunningKatie · 28/10/2010 13:23

Pootle - great news about the GD.

I was seeing a consultant as my Mum had had a thrombosis but they saw me once and discharged me back to midwife care.

Bump is still wriggling away and no more bleeding so I'm feeling less freaked out. Am taking it as a sign to slow down a little though.

jjkm - hope all is well with the girls, am thinking of you.

Pootle78 · 28/10/2010 13:40

Brilliant news Running you just make sure you look after yourself and the bump!

We aren't going to find out what we are having cupcakes, it means we can spend more time arguing about possible names!

Realised today, 8 weeks til I leave work, which means it's 8 weeks to Christmas - aarrgh! Sorry to mention the C word!

BubbaAndBump · 28/10/2010 19:03

Wiggle kick, wiggle kick, wiggle kick

Grrrrrrrrrrrr (and all loved up about it at the same time!)

Sheesh - 3 more months!
