Hi all - we've very nearly exhausted the 1,000 post limit on our previous thread so here is the new one.

Looking forward to continuing to share the ups, downs, symptoms, queries, worries and joy (fingers tightly crossed!)

NurseSunshine · 21/10/2010 18:15

Congrats Gillz! Sorry about the boobs [hblush] I think we're all a bit nervy on this thread so you're in good company. Sorry about your poor ds. I hope you get your scan soon to put your mind at ease

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 21/10/2010 18:17

NurseS I've seen some adorable dresses in recent days, most of which aren't pink or to frilly and that's about the only time I find myself wishing I could know. But then boys clothes are pretty cute too.

Ahhh baby clothes!!!

Who needs coke? I can offer up some firey ginger beer. Might end up having that for my dinner Confused

NurseSunshine · 21/10/2010 18:20

Choc I KNOW, me too. I'm not a fan of pink and frilly but I just love pretty little dresses and I think girls clothes are soooo much nicer than boys. Obviously this is all just light hearted, I will be happy with my little person whatever flavour it is [hsmile]

Igglybuff · 21/10/2010 18:21

Marking place to catch up. 80+ posts already! I'm waaaaaaaaay behind

NurseSunshine · 21/10/2010 18:33

Igglybuff how do you mark your place? From what I could tell there didn't seem to be a way to just click on your last comment or whatever and go straight there, I've been remembering which page I was last on and scrolling through! [hblush]

Beesok · 21/10/2010 18:38

NurseSunshine yeah I know the dresses droooool :) I work in a chidlren's centre and there are some fantastic clothes for babies out there! Now I am looking at tags and taking note :)

My most dreaded combination is pink and purple - I just can't stomach it :( but through a lot of observation we all noticed that 90% of girls (am talking 2-3 yr old) choose that combination WITHOUT encouragement, we never encourage it in nursery and I have had discussion with some of the parents who swear that they dressed their babies in greys and neutrals and lots of different colours yet inevitably when I ask what paint should we put out? The answer is ALWAYS: pink and purple!!!!! :)

John Lewis have really cool stuff and speaking of which I am going to see a friend who just had a little baby boy and I want to buy her a gift, he he he MAJOR excuse for some browsing for myself!!!! :)

Beesok · 21/10/2010 18:41

BTW I always though I wanted a girl and now I am torn, I think boys are so much fun! I want a tomboy girl :)

PS Try the chinese gender predictor (google it) apparently 4 of my friends did it for fun and it was correct!
I get a girl according to it.

My first instinct when I found out that I was pregnant was "boy"! but my hubby dreamt that we had a girl :)

CuppaMouldyBatBallsBrothJanice · 21/10/2010 18:41

Welcome and congratulations to the new people! There must be at least 50 of us by now!!

We're not going to find out the sex - didn't last time either. Last time I thought I would prefer a girl, largely because I thought all boys inevitably became obsessed with football which I hate. But when you get a DS you realise you love them just as much anyway, and you can try and steer them away from the less pleasant parts of boyness. That's the plan anyway! This time there are about a million things higher up in my list of preferences than gender. I really don't mind whach sex I get!

With bras, there is no way I will be giving up underwires. They are what holds the jelly sacs in place and stops my chest looking like a pancake. If I had FFs I would happily walk around topless in a soft pregnancy-approved bra!! I think as long as the wires don't dig in then it can't do much damage.

Gillzz I think second pregnancies are more worrying for a lot of people. You don't really know about the scary stuff that can go wrong the first time. And you have to remember that while this thread has a great bunch of people and are all very supportive, between us we have probably had more MCs etc than a random sample of the general population of pregnant people. A lot of our group, I should imagine, originally came to mumsnet to find support after problems with previous pgs, or ttc, IVF etc., so were signed up and ready to join this group as soon as they became pg. I hope that makes sense.

DP is cooking pie tonight. Not lemon meringue (sadly) - I think it might be steak and mushroom. Mmmmmmmmmmm!!

moomin156 · 21/10/2010 18:44

Oooooh mine says a girl on the chinese predictor LOL, that wouldnt surprise me as all my family has girls. Not a boy in sight

cep · 21/10/2010 18:52

I really fancy lemon meringue pie. welcome newbies.

gillzz i keep thinking there'll be nothing in there as well and that it's all my imagination. But then didn't really believe it the first time either untill the scan.

cep · 21/10/2010 18:53

my stomach pains seem to have reduced as well, the antibiotics must be working.

NurseSunshine · 21/10/2010 18:53

Hmmm I just got boy on that gender predictor thing.

Right, evening sickness has subsided, I'm off to make meatball and spaghetti om nom nom nom

cep · 21/10/2010 19:02

just looked at that chinese gender chart, it was right for the last one and right for my friend who gave birth a week before me. Says i'm having a boy this time to. which doesn't surprise me, it's mostly boys in dh family. (he's 1 of 4 and has 2 himself.)

Beesok · 21/10/2010 19:02

I am going to brave the cold and laziness and go to the gym! I feel like I am flabbing up already :(

am trying to walk and cycle on medium resistance + some really light weights for arms and press ups - my aim: a neat bump ;)

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 21/10/2010 19:03

On one I'm having a boy but on another I'm having a girl.

Gillzz · 21/10/2010 19:08

Thank god were all on same boat, and all here to support each other.

going try predicator thing I thought all the way ds was a boy kind of think this one will be 2 x

Gillzz · 21/10/2010 19:13

I got boy on chinese predicator test.

AbyCat · 21/10/2010 19:14

I'd love a girl, but my mum keeps dreaming that I have 3 boys (not all at once I hope!!)

I must start exercising again soon, & look into some pregnancy yoga - does anyone know if it's true that you can't start that until 12 weeks?
My friend's sister did 3 yoga classes a week whilst she was pregnant & had a 2-3 hr labour with each of her children, so I really want to give it a try!

Has anyone else lost weight so far? I think it's giving up the evening glass of wine (or two...Blush!) Luckily I can't stand the smell of alcohol at the moment, amazing what your body does for you!

Balletpink · 21/10/2010 19:30

Evening all! Hi & welcome to all the new BFP's!

Glad someone liked my Jue in June suggestion Smile

Ooh, the chinese gender predictor chart! It says this one is a girl. I'll be happy either way although I have to say it's true, baby dresses are lovely, but then so are baby boy duffle coats and baker boy caps. Soo gorgeous!

A few twinges in the right hand side, I remember this from last time and it goes away. 8rubberduckies I got some cheaper internet tests and they were rubbish, hardly a line on them. I then got a Sainsbury's own and got an ok BFP then finally I got a Clearblue digital and it said 1-2 weeks last week and 2-3 weeks this week, so (hopefully) all is well for the time being.

I'm not looking at baby stuff yet but as and when we get to the stage we could find out, I think we might as it would be nice to know colours etc. But then I want a "surprise" moment at delivery as well!

CuppaMouldyBatBallsBrothJanice · 21/10/2010 19:30

Abycat I'm doing a yoga course at the moment. It's not pregnancy yoga but the teacher is a trained pg yoga teacher and 2 of us are expecting on the course. There are very few things we can't do at this early stage, and that's more to do with not dropping our blood pressure too much or making ourselves feel nauseous by being upside down for too long, rather than anything that will actually harm the bean. Maybe the 12 week thing means you don't have to do special pg yoga before 12 weeks?

DeadBodyofKaraStarbuckThrace · 21/10/2010 19:31

Chinese gender predictor says girl!

Isabelle - sorry to hear about the job, hope something else comes up soon.

Beemok - I was looking at these

Baby bay bedside cot

Arm's reach universal bedside cot

However DH took one look at the costs and went

So looking for 2nd hand ones.

I also found this on ebay.

Bedside cot

Which is a bit more reasonable, however it is being shipped from Germany and some of the neg feedback that the seller has received has been about this cot so am now a bit dubious.

moomin156 · 21/10/2010 19:34

Ive read that you shouldnt start any new form of exercise in the first 12 weeks as your hormones have affected your ligaments making them softer so you are prone to injury. You can continue with any exercise that you do normally but do not start a new regime.
This is what cause alot of the pelvic twinges in the first few weeks.....ligaments loosening.Hope this makes sense

mrsbigw · 21/10/2010 19:37

Evenin' all!

I'm with mummynumber2 in that everything is making me feel even more sick than I already do. I would absolutely love some time off from feeling sick so if anyone is wanting symptoms feel free to take my 24hr sickness [hwink]! If I wasn't PG & had felt ill like this for so long I really would think I had a terrible disease or was being poisoned, I truly hope it passes after the 1st trimester.

Do feel a bit better after booking in with an absolutely lovely MW this afternoon, she was so sweet & she told me that the hospital that I went to last time is opening a MW led unit in time for my EDD next year so I will be able to go there.

She also took a long hard look at me & said 'I think you should go home & go back to bed dear you don't look at all well'. Bless her, I now feel like I have medical permission for guilt free lounging about.

Hope everyone else is having a lovely relaxing evening!
