Hi all - we've very nearly exhausted the 1,000 post limit on our previous thread so here is the new one.

Looking forward to continuing to share the ups, downs, symptoms, queries, worries and joy (fingers tightly crossed!)

A friend of mine has 4 boys.....with the last one she wished for another boy as she said she wouldnt know what to do with a girl!!! Either is fine by me

Minione · 21/10/2010 17:12

Hi Ladies

Is it just me or is anyone else having evening sickness? I feel sick on and off throughout the day but it is at its worst last thing at night! Pretty bad in the morning but worse of an evening!

sasamaxx · 21/10/2010 17:14

I've a few nursing bras out of Bravissimo and as far as I remember, the maternity bras are very very similar (ie practically identical) apart from not having a hook to drop the cup.

Is anyone else suffering from insomnia - even though they are totally exhausted?

Decided I wanted pakora - went to take-away place and got a chees & tom pizza, chicken pakora and chips for me and the 2 kids (DH won't be home until late tonight)
Then I got home, forced 2 slices of pizza down and 2 bits of pakora before deciding I didn't feel like them so just ate the chips.
Then I put the kettle on before realising that the thought of tea was turning my stomach - fickle or what?

DD (2) is now polishing off the pakora [hgrin]

Nursesunshine co-sleeping gets a bad press but there is a real lack of evidence surrounding it. Whenever they publish studies about it, they don't actually exclude all the unsafe practices e.g. sleeping on sofa, drinking and smoking before sharing a bed with a baby etc so the results are always very inaccurate WRT co-sleeping responsibly [hsmile]

NurseSunshine · 21/10/2010 17:23

minione Yes I'm getting evening-not-quite-sickness-but-definately-nausea! It has really ruined my meatball and spaghetti dinner plans. Though so has DP staying last at work :(

sasamaxx I'm sure that's true but I think I would be too scared even so. And even if squashing baby wasn't a problem I would worry about overheating. Also know a guy who killed his baby by rolling onto it in the night. Horrible horrible story :(

NurseSunshine · 21/10/2010 17:23

*late, not last!

knackered76 · 21/10/2010 17:25

Welcome newbies!

Feeling very jealous of all this talk of bravissimo. I went in once with a friend and was practically laughed out of the shop due to my meager attempt at cleavage Blush

minione - definitely feel rougher in the evenings, especially if I happen to be full (quite common at the monment :))

Sasamaxx - oh the insomnia :( Waking early in the morning needing the loo and then really struggling to get back off to sleep before my dc's come in. Varies between waking at 1.30am and 5am . . . . all far too early!

I was convinced my first was a boy (couldn't see myself with girls and worried about having a teenage girl . . .still worried about that one!), needless to say it wasn't! Thought my second was a boy just because 2 other friends due around the same time were pregnant with girls, and he was (clearly luck more than judgement!). Having got one of each I can honestly say they are both great and which ever flavour you have you will adore (apart from the times you want to kill them Wink.

Off to finish cooking for the masses. Happy thursday evening!

cep · 21/10/2010 17:33

hi all, welcom aby.

8 rubberduckies was going to say that i'd been testing with ebay cheapies had very faint lines infact almost couldn't see them.

did tesco own which was still faint although instructions states doesn't matter how faint a line is a line, and finally went for cb digital which came up with 3+ which means 5+ but wasn't 5 yet so don't get that one.

I don't really mind what sex i have but it would be nice to have a girl as i already have a boy.

Is anyone going to ask at the scan??

cep · 21/10/2010 17:34

forgot to say am having a very healthy slimming world fish pie. but for some strange reason am now craving lm pie. Grin

cep · 21/10/2010 17:36

actually not completely healthy i put cheese on top. Blush although son just asked for more.

sasamaxx · 21/10/2010 17:36

Nursesunshine - gosh that really is a horrible story Sad. Everything is just so worrying isn't it? On the flipside though, one of my very best friends died during the night of a condition which is a known cause of cot death. Had she been with someone, they could have revived her so that kind of lives with me and I feel far safer having babies next to me where I can feel their breathing all night.
I know this is an extreme story, and sorry if I have upset anyone Sad
It is such a worrying time when they are so young, and we all just have to make a judgement call and get on with it I suppose. So many difficult decisions to make constantly.

Crikey - that is far too depressing - sorry about that!

mummynumber2 · 21/10/2010 17:37

Hello and congratulations to the new people.

Isabelle I live in Thornton Heath, which for those of you who don't know the area is even less glamerous than it sounds!

minione I'm getting evening sickness too. It tends to be very bad in the morning, ease off throughout the day and then get worse in the evening. I've been reading that sickness usually happens if you're too hungry or have eaten too much. They recommend having 5 evenly spaced smaller meals a day, which I would be able to give a go if I could go into my kitchen without throwing up or gagging!

NurseSunshine · 21/10/2010 17:40

Are you all going to find out or have a surprise? I'd like to find out, just so I can buy cute, gender appropriate outfits and blankets and things :D

moomin156 · 21/10/2010 17:43

Im going for the surprise.....just dont want to know :)

cep · 21/10/2010 17:44

we did the whole surprise think 1st time, and dh wants to do the same this time, but part of me wants to know so that if people want to buy stuff i can say if i need girlie stuff. But again on the other side it was really nice not knowing.

moomin156 · 21/10/2010 17:45

I think we all have very sad and scary stories which heightens our anxiety but we need to concentrate on all the happy and positive stories of all our friends and families that have happy and healthy children. After all that is the most common story thankfully

NurseSunshine · 21/10/2010 17:47

Totally agree moomin

NurseSunshine · 21/10/2010 17:48

I shouldn't have posted that earlier comment, sorry.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 21/10/2010 17:49

neen I'm in Stirling so not far from you. Don't think there are many of us living in Scotland about.

Minione I'm having anytime of day or night sickness. I've even woken up in the middle of the night and felt sick (thanks DS!)

Now you're all talking about waking up early I think I have to admit that I'm waking up early too. My bladder just can't make it through the night. And from what I remember of DS it's only going to get worse. And I'm rubbish at getting back to sleep normally. When pg it's awful.

I'd like a girl as always wanted one, but just as happy with a boy now that I've already got one. DH has mentioned he'd like a girl which made me smile.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 21/10/2010 17:51

They don't tell you where I live apparently. Which is fine because we're happy to wait. It's damn annoying trying to find gender neutral clothes etc though.

moomin156 · 21/10/2010 17:51

nursesunshine please dont apologise, just thought we should focus on all the good stories as the sad ones are so sad

moomin156 · 21/10/2010 17:52

just watching Jamies 30min meals and i WANT that steak sandwich

sasamaxx · 21/10/2010 17:55

Oh yes absolutely - moving on from the sad stories. Hope I didn't upset anyone there and sorry if I did Sad

Is anyone else counting the minutes until kiddy bedtimes tonight?
I just can't wait to recline the chair, drape a blanket over me and watch crap on the telly for a while. I've annoyingly run out of cans of coke which are kind of keeping me going at the moment (and I find fizziness helps with queasiness) and can't go out for any since DH won't be back until about 11pm - grrrrrr

Beesok · 21/10/2010 17:57

I am too curious so not sure if I'll be to wait for so long to find although I want to - figured that it makes sense with the first since you don't need to keep stuff to reuse and I am planning on buying gender neutral items - absolutely hate the whole pink and blue mish mash and I second someones note about frills ;)
Baby will be simple and elegant from day one ;)
