Hi all - we've very nearly exhausted the 1,000 post limit on our previous thread so here is the new one.

Looking forward to continuing to share the ups, downs, symptoms, queries, worries and joy (fingers tightly crossed!)

Hi again everyone. I'm afraid I will be bowing out of this thread, I've not been on much this week as I miscarried on Monday/Tuesday. I had hideous contractions all Monday night, then Tues, so went to A&E where they confirmed that the heartbeat had gone, then had ERPC on Wed. Feeling very fragile today, but I'm sure I'll be ok soon.

Hope you all have wonderful stress free pregnancies.
xx

IssyStark · 22/10/2010 09:00

Morning everyone else!

Catching up discussions, I can add:

  1. I'm finally getting evening sickness (I say finally, pre 6 weeks is fairly early for me based on previous pregnancies).
  1. I've also joined the insomnia club although with many of you: I've been awake at 4am three mornings out of the last five.
  1. Given the lack of deep sleep, it is rather irritating that I am now off caffeine as well; tea didn't taste great yesterday and this morning, despite the tiredness, the thought of a cuppa turned my stomach. So decaff coffee it was.
  1. On the gender issue, I'd love a little girl as we already ahve a boy (who wants a little sister and definitely not a little brother). I adore many of the girls clothes - Verbaudet is my favourite brand because their girls' clothes look the sort that you can climb trees in) and must confess that the garklet, who loves floral prints, has a number of girls items that can pull off the unisex look. That said, I would be more than happy with another boy - I rather like the idea of being a Mob (mother of boys).
  1. We're not going to find out 'though. We didn't last time and we won't this. Call me old fashioned but I just want the midwife/doctor to be able to say 'it's a...' they probably don't get to do it all that often nowadays ;)

Don't think I've missed anything out except bed-sharing (everyone ends up doing it sometimes) and preg test brands. yawn Can't see myself being as uber-productive today unless this fog of tiredness lifts.

Hope everyoone else is feeling a bit more awake than me!

takethatlady · 22/10/2010 09:07

Just wanted to say I'm really really sorry for those that have lost their babies. Sad I hope you have lots of people to take care of you and that you have the time and space to feel however you want to feel. Good luck ladies.

moomin156 · 22/10/2010 09:08

Good morning everyone, hope evryone has a good day. I have my first midwife appointment today.....no idea what happens or what they will do but i am sure i will find out this afternoon.
Issy still drinking my caffeine coffee first thing but it no longer tastes as nice.....gutted, i love my first coffee of the day

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 22/10/2010 09:16

Sorry to see two lots of sad news this morning. Hugs for you both (although I'm aware this can not actually change things)

Well I went to my usual pilates class last night, that I've been going to for over a year, didn't do the full intensity due to a problem with one of my legs and I am shattered this morning. I couldn't believe how hard it felt when I was dong it and this morning I really feel like I was out running or something! Have next week off and will be telling my instructor before the next class I'm due to attend. I get the feeling I may have to give it up earlier than I hoped.

Has anyone else found this with their regular exercise classes?

8rubberduckies · 22/10/2010 09:23

Morning all, firstly, so, so sorry to hear your sad news mudandmayhem and IamMrsJones, thinking of you both Sad

GoodVibrations, I consider myself thoroughly ticked off now Blush. It is a very good thing, because I have now stopped and taken a look around me and noticed my house looks like an explosion in a pregnancy test factory.

I am also feeling proper sick this morning, which is also a very good thing. It's the first morning I haven't had porridge for breakfast this week incidentally!

I am also a member of the insomnia club; ds keeps having nightmares about piggies and dogs at the moment Confused, but I just can't get back to sleep myself for ages after I've settled him back down. Feeling very sleepy this morning and very happy I have the day off work (am being a bad Mum and intend to lie on the sofa until at least half ten with ds watching Cbeebies).

moomin156 · 22/10/2010 09:37

Does anyone know if i need to take a wee sample to the midwife appointment this afternoon

8rubberduckies · 22/10/2010 09:52

I'd say no, but maybe take a relatively full bladder, as they will probably want to take a sample there! Good luck this afternoon moomin

IssyStark · 22/10/2010 09:54

moomin you don't need to take a sample but they may ask you to do one there and then and give you a bottle for your next visit.

As to what will happen, the midwife will go over your medical history and also that the baby's father and also your parents (i.e. direct relatives of you and the baby). She'll probably talk you through how the care works in your area, when to expect appiontments, scans etc., what tests you might want and so on. she may well even go through the various birth options and tell you about any local NHS antenatal classes/hopsital open evenings etc.

You should get bounty pack and also the NHS pregnancy book to take away as well as your notes (you look after your pregnancy medical notes, not the midwife).

She will most likely take your blood pressure and possibly weigh you (you'll probably not be weighed again until over 30 weeks).

PercyPigPie · 22/10/2010 09:59

Thanks all (don't worry name changed Smile). So sorry to hear your news IamMrsJones.

Removing this thread from my watched threads now, but wishing you all happy pregnancies.

yellowtomato · 22/10/2010 10:04

mudandmayhem and Iammrsjones very sorry to hear your sad news. Take care of yourselves.

NoMoreChocBiscuits I went to pilates yesterday and found it fine. I initially didn't want to tell the instructor but paniced and told her about 10 mins in. She said I should have told her at the beginning Blush but said I just shouldn't do anything that would 'twist' the area but everything else was find.

In other news I think I finally have a symptom! Sore boobs today, hurrah......Grin

sasamaxx · 22/10/2010 10:18

Good luck this afty moomin

I think I am now officially off tea [hsad]
Yesterday and today it has just turned my stomach - I keep trying to drink it and feeling ill before just leaving it to get cold.
I don't think it's the caffeine because I am kind of craving coke

moomin156 · 22/10/2010 10:42

Thanks Issy for the information. The GP gave me a specimen pot at my appointment so i may well take one just in case as knowing me i wont be able to pee on demand LOL
Would people chose a midwife led service rather than a consultant led one if they have a choice.......i know there is both in the area. I think i prefer the idea of a midwife led birth but is it as safe???

theQuibbler · 22/10/2010 11:21

Hello all,

mudandmayhem and IamMrsJones - so sorry to hear your news, am thinking of you both.

It's tricky moomin156 - it really does come down to individual choice. I prefer the highly medicalised, consultant-led, specialised service because that makes me comfortable. However, it would send lots of other people running, screaming, for the hills Grin. It's probably worth having a look around and seeing what works for you.

Pregnancy insomnia - aaargh! I had the worst nights sleep last night...
... Woke up to go to the loo (AGAIN) at about 3am and then couldn't get back to sleep at all. My 4yr old heard me and insisted on getting into our bed and then starfished the night away complete with kicks, sleep mutterings and other assorted delights. I left them to it and got up. But am knackered now.
There's a little first aid room at work complete with bed - I think a lunchtime nap might be in order. Smile

mrsbigw · 22/10/2010 11:27

Sorry to hear your terrible news Iammrsjones, do take care xx

MoogHasNoBrain · 22/10/2010 12:03

Hi everyone :)

Iammrsjones and mudandmayhem really sorry ? so sad for you :(

I had appointment with my lovely lovely doctor today who has referred me to the midwife and says I can book in any time within the next few weeks as long as it is prior to my scan. I asked her about running and yoga and she said both are fine, but only running if you already did so before (which I did). So I am now booked into a pg yoga class starting beg, Nov. Doc said I have low blood pressure and she is surprised I am not feeling faint ? but I?m not so not sure if I should worry about this at all ? will do some googling?

The other thing the doctor said is that they now recommend the flu jab for pregnant women. I?m not sure I want this ? has anyone else been asked about this?

Oh I am with you on the insomnia ? why do you think it is ? I can?t seem to sleep past 4am even though I am exhausted.
