Hi all - we've very nearly exhausted the 1,000 post limit on our previous thread so here is the new one.

Looking forward to continuing to share the ups, downs, symptoms, queries, worries and joy (fingers tightly crossed!)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Wobblewatcher · 21/10/2010 19:38

Boobage killing me tonight thank goodness. Only in the evenings though...

Womb area feels like it's stretching.

Haven't thought as far as cots and stuff although that's a lie as I spotted a nice pram in mamas and papas today!

NurseSunshine · 21/10/2010 19:39

Kara I don't know if you have a car but you could try searching on ebay for cotside beds that are near you as then there's no postage and would be a lot cheaper than buying new.

takethatlady · 21/10/2010 19:57

Left boob hurts, right boob doesn't.

Chinese gender predictor says it's a boy :)

Either way fine by me. Wish I would get morning sickness though!

sasamaxx · 21/10/2010 19:57

Kara I have the armsreach one - it really is very good - it has great built in storage as well. I'm sure you can get it cheaper than that - seems very expensive.
Got mine nearly 5 years ago tho so can't really remember what i paid now.

mrsbigw - that sounds like a great appointment [hsmile]

AbyCat · 21/10/2010 20:21

Is it usual to book in with your MW so early? I'm getting a bit concerned as when I saw my GP today, she just said that I didn't need to do anything until a scan at 13 weeks & then to come in to see the MW at 16-18 weeks....so far away! This is all so confusing...

mrsbigw hope the sickness goes soon, that sounds just horrible, you poor thing.

mrsbigw · 21/10/2010 20:31

yes sasamaxx I am glad I saw her today I hope everyone else is as fortunate with their MW.

I think it is a bit of a postcode lottery abycat, here in manchester the midwives will see you anytime from 8 wks onwards, I have to go back at 11wks for bloods & will have a scan at 12 wks. TBH I just skipped the GP appt this time & booked straight in with the MWs.

All this cot talk is making me wonder where I will actually put DC4 as our house is pretty full already....might have to co-sleep for several years LOL!

mrsbigw · 21/10/2010 20:32

And thanks for your kind thoughts abycat am back at reflexologist on sat so hopefuly that should help

Balletpink · 21/10/2010 20:37

Abycat, my last pg a few years ago I saw the doctor first, he didn't test me for pg but set the wheels in motion for me to receive a booking in appointment with the MW, which where I live is around the 10 weeks mark.

At the 10 weeks MW appt they did bloods, urine, took medical history, started green notes book etc then I got booked in for first scan at around 12 weeks. I thought the green notes are usually started in advance of the first scan so they have somewhere to report the results of the scan, measurements etc. Also, they offered to arrange an appointment at 16 weeks for blood tests for Down's etc if you wanted them.

I think the process can vary from place to place a little. Maybe worth ringing again to make sure your GP hasn't got crossed wires with the process though? (or perhaps it's just the way they do it where you live).

Beesok · 21/10/2010 20:38

I agree moomin156 - I have been training regularly with a professional trainer and running etc so I can continue to do moderate low impact exercise - no running, boxing etc. I don't even want to jog esp in first 12 weeks so am walking fast with high incline, cycling or doing "the wave" machine + lunges and squats with arm press (max 4kg weights).

I heard that yoga should be avoided in first trimester unless you have been doing it regularly etc but after that it is highly recommended as long as it's tailored to pregnancy limitations.

I am on the lookout for a good yoga class in my area - haven't found much so far - if nayone knows any good place in marylebone/soho/covent garden/primrose hill pls give me a shout!!

AbyCat · 21/10/2010 20:44

Ah, OK, thanks ballet pink & mrsbigw. I'm in West London, so the GP just asked where I wanted to go, and then said that the hospital would be in touch before 12 weeks with a scan date - maybe that's just the way its done round here then! It just seems a long time to wait to ask questions (all of which went straight out of my mind as soon as I walked in the surgery!)

I'm just swimming every week & walking everywhere I can now rather than driving, and I'll start yoga again in December I think.

mrsbigw · 21/10/2010 20:55

I really wanted to carry on running this time but am too sick, I found swimming ok last time so will start that up again as soon as feel able.

I wish the high protein diet had some bearing on sickness for me beesok I used to eat a lot of lean protein & train a lot too but it hasn't helped.

Yoga does seem popular in pregnancy, has anyone actually taken it up when pg & if so how was it?

Beesok · 21/10/2010 20:57

AbyCat don't mean to sound panicky or paranoid but watch out for chlorine content (if any) in the pools you used. I read somewhere that if it is high to limit swimming to once a week at least in the first trimester - this is not something I heard from a doctor or midwife so might be total BS but just keep it in mind!

PercyPigPie · 21/10/2010 21:01

Oops, posted on the old thread by mistake just now.

All over for me I think . I didn't really properly introduce myself on this thread, but this was a much longed for pregnancy. It was a bit of a miracle as I am 45 and the baby would have been born when I was 46, so obviously very high risk from the start.

I have children already, so know how being properly pregnant feels, and I have been worried for some time that I didn't feel properly pregnant.

Today I was scanned and instead of being 7+2, the baby was tiny (about 2-3mm) - the sonographer thinks it may somehow have had a tiny heartbeat, but it was too slow. I have to go back in a week, but I already know the answer .

Good luck to everyone else. It has made me giggle seeing all you thirty somethings describe yourselves as 'old birds'.

DeadBodyofKaraStarbuckThrace · 21/10/2010 21:02

Yeah I have a car, Nurse Sunshine, plus we have friends and family in Essex, Manchester, Rochdale and Sheffield which means we could make arrangements to pick one up from those places when visiting.

I very nearly bid on one in Sheffield very close to where my friend lives, but thought it was a bit too soon!

I won't be calling the MW until next week - here we don't go to the GPs we go straight to the community MWs. They won't book you in until you're 8 weeks.

namechangedfor3months · 21/10/2010 21:03

Hello all! I've just read 12 pages of Jue June's! LOADS of newbies. Hello! [hgrin]

I am pretty symtom-less just wee-ing lots and v hungry when hungry... I have a big stomach in the evenings. Can't tell boob wise as DC is still BFed Hmm.

Extremely stressed and v hormonal in work and redundancies due in Jan so not looking forward to having to disclose.

Midwives haven't rung to confirm everything so I keep putting it to the back of my mind really..

Anyway - wanted to say hi!!! :)

sasamaxx · 21/10/2010 21:04

mudandmayhem - so so sorry to hear this.
I really hope it all turns round for you and you are proved wrong somehow but please take care of yourself and give your kids a great big hug x

DeadBodyofKaraStarbuckThrace · 21/10/2010 21:04

Mudand Mayhem Sad

I'm sorry could it be that you are not as far along as you thought?

mrsbigw · 21/10/2010 21:05

Oh no, mudandmayhem I am so sorry to hear that, what terrible news for you & your family.
Do take care & I wish you all the best in the future, virtual hugs xxxx

PercyPigPie · 21/10/2010 21:08

Thanks Deadbody and Namechanged. I think I might be maybe a week under where I thought I was, but no more (unless DH has supersonic sperm). So, very unlikely to be good news next week.

Yes, it makes me very appreciative of the babies I already have (they were very surprised this week when I turned up at school to pick them up with treats from the toyshop!).

PercyPigPie · 21/10/2010 21:09

Thanks Mrsbigw too - gosh this thread moves fast!

Balletpink · 21/10/2010 21:10

So sorry to hear your news mudandmayhem Sad

moomin156 · 21/10/2010 21:27

So sorry to hear that mudandmayhem Take care of yourself x

GoodVibrations · 21/10/2010 21:43

Another :( from me mudandmayhem very sorry to hear it

GoodVibrations · 21/10/2010 21:47

yellow please try not to worry about your lack of symptoms. With DD I didn?t find out I was pg until I was 6 weeks so absolutely no symptoms up until then (and we were ttc so I was on the lookout). Not sure if that?s any comfort but try not to worry.

mrshedgie what a nightmare for you, hope you feel better soon

isabelle sorry to hear about the job, it must be such a worry. I?m not in HR but have been trained as an interviewer and have done millions of interviews so if you need any help/ tips for next time (and there will be another one soon I?m sure) just give me a shout

mummynumber2 good luck for the scan tomorrow

rubberduckie Good news on the digital test, now step away from the tests, you are pg! :)

neenewps abycat welcome and congrats!

Issy Hello! Maybe we were on a breastfeeding thread?

I had my booking in appt and was told I have to have consultant led care (due to prem baby last time) which I knew but still a bit fed up about it (no splashing about in a birthing pool at home surrounded by smelly candles :()

On the upside, thanks to whoever recommended porridge for ms. I had a huge bowl this morning (with golden syrup, yum) and hardly felt sick at all this morning :) (though usual evening sickness remains!)

Sorry for not replying to everyone, hope you're all well, have done my best to reply to the 200 posts I've just read Grin

Beesok · 21/10/2010 21:53

Mudandmayhem am sending you a big hug, so sorry to hear that :(
