Hi all - we've very nearly exhausted the 1,000 post limit on our previous thread so here is the new one.

Looking forward to continuing to share the ups, downs, symptoms, queries, worries and joy (fingers tightly crossed!)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mummynumber2 · 21/10/2010 13:45

8rubberduckies I did several tests using various different brands and they varied quite a bit. You're still really early so I really wouldn't worry. Why don't you leave it a week or so and test again.

Beesok · 21/10/2010 13:57

Let's see how quickly this thread fills up!Is it me or is EVERYONE pregnant he he he :) am seeing bumps and babies everywhere :)

Re symptoms - my only symptoms so far have been slightly sore and more than slightly larger boobs (yes, loving the big boobs + flat stomach combo :) no nausea, no cravings, no bleeding - very mild cramping on and off but getting less frequent.

I had a scare last week so went to A&E and they scanned me but couldn't see much only a little "sack" in teh right place :) She told me to come back on Nov 1, to check the progress so am really hoping it will be OK.

I spoke to a midwife about lack of nausea etc and she told me that 20% of women just don't have it - also some people link it to a diet lacking protein and certain nutrients, while TTC I had been going to the gym regularily and eating super healthy (lots of protein) so maybe that's why?

I am looking at cribs and baby stuff - can't help it! We want this child so much and I just can't contain my excitement :) We were lucky coz hit the jackpot on the second cycle but had to wait 4 months before TTC because of my vaccinations ( I wasn't immune to chicken pox) so now that I am pregnant I can't stop thinking about it :)

Re montessori (someone was asking in the previous thread) - it is an approach to educating children based on the research and experiences of Italian physician and educator Maria Montessori. While I don't agree with all her principles and not sure if I will be sending my children to montessori schools etc, I love her approach to the newborn's room and I relate to the freedom of not being confined to a crib and being allowed to explore his/her environment (in a safe and baby proffed space of course!)

Don't want to break any copyright laws but this blog really inspired me:
sewliberated.typepad.com/sew_liberated/2009/04/finnians-montessori-room.html

I had read about montessori and her methods ages ago (I studied child development) and liked her ideas but didn't know anyone wo implemented them in practice and the above is a fantastic example.

Sorry for the loooooooong post1 Hope veryone is having a great day!

IsabelleSE19 · 21/10/2010 14:01

Unfortunately my first post on the new thread is another moan... just found out I didn't get the job I interviewed for last week. Very gutted and very scared - that was the only interview I'd managed to get in two months of being unemployed. Sad

yellowtomato · 21/10/2010 14:09

Afternoon all

takethatlady I think that is exactly it. He is busy at work and has just put it out of his mind. He doesn't have to think about what he is eating/drinking/doing etc and so he has just put it to one side. I think men find compartmentalising easier. He just doesn't really want to discuss it at all until the scan next week.

moomin I am 5+5 today. Didn't make it past this point last time but didn't find out until 8 weeks and mmc took until 11 weeks to happen. I think that has a lot to do with how nervous I feel.

rubberduckie I think you seem to be so early on that a faint line would be normal. I think I have heard of successful pregnancies that didn't get a bfp at all until a week after their period was due so don't give up hope yet!

mummynumber2 It must be reassuring to have a scan each week, i am not sure if I'll be allowed more than one or not but I'll try to get another one. I know exactly what you mean about thinking about being pregnant rather than about the baby. Last time I was imagining stopping working, telling my parents and upcoming social events when I would have my baby etc and I'd created such vivid dreams it was so hard to let them go. I am trying not to 'project' so much this time but it is so difficult as it is such an exciting and life changing event.

I am def not ready to talk about cribs etc!

yellowtomato · 21/10/2010 14:11

Oh no Isabelle I'm so sorry to hear that. It is really tough in the world of work at the moment isn't it?

IsabelleSE19 · 21/10/2010 14:26

Thanks yellowtomato. Yes, it's tough - I'm pleased to be pg but my timing is shocking. Will begin my hassling campaign of recruitment agents on Monday, but might give myself the day off tomorrow and go and do something nice in central London.

By the way, I sympathise about your DP. I'm pretty sure mine is in some kind of denial too, and agree it's probably because all the weird stuff is happening in someone else's body! Apparently some men don't start to feel like fathers until the baby is actually there.

8rubberduckies · 21/10/2010 14:33

yellowtomato I will try not to!

moomin156 · 21/10/2010 14:38

That sounds a good idea isabelle.....go enjoy mooching around for a few hours, if your stomach can take it around the food markets or around a museum. Then come Monday hassle like mad

neenewps · 21/10/2010 15:27

Hello all

Just thought I would join your club :) and btw congratulations to all of you.

I am 4+3 so very early days for me. When I found out I was strangely shocked even though we had been trying although due to my job we weren't always able to try at the right time of the month!

Getting used to the idea of being pregnant now and have only told close family and very close friends.. due to the nature of my job they would have guessed anyway!

So far only have sore boobs.. I also seem to be waking up uber early in the morning??? Has anyone else experienced this?

Saw the Dr today for the first time and so have my first appointment with the midwife and also my first scan date.... !! It is all starting to feel more real although I am very nervous about it going wrong.

Look forward to exchanging messages on here and if there is anyone in the Edinburgh area I would love to hear from you as I am new to the area and don't currently know many people here.

:o :o :o

IssyStark · 21/10/2010 15:27

Isabelle sorry to here about the interview. Here's hoping something turns up soon.

8rubberduckies don't worry too much about the stength of the line - it will vary from test to test based on the amount of dye anyway. HPTs tell you if you are pregnant, most doesn't tell you how pregnant you are (you can get some expensive ones that try to guess but they are v. expensive, not v. acurate and probably not worth the money).

My bits of news for the afternoon:

  1. beginning to find myself sensitive to caffeine so my mid-morning mug of coffee may soon change to decaff and I'll drop my lunchtime cup of Earl Grey,
  2. I've got a date for my early scan as part of the Promise RCT I'm in, it's next Friday (29th) when should be 6w5d if the last cycle was a 29d one.
takethatlady · 21/10/2010 15:29

Hey neenewps. YES! I have the rising early thing. I was preggo for all of 5 days last cycle and kept waking up early then too. I thought it was because I was excited Grin

But this time (and although I could be a bit more I might be 4+3 and that's what I'm going with) it's the same. I woke up around 5am this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. Every single day I have woken up at six at the latest since the day I got my BFP. Got mine a week ago. How about you? Does that make you due 28th June like me?

IssyStark · 21/10/2010 15:36

Oh and because I'm still catching up, waves at supersunnyday - I agree, let's hope these ones stick around.

Also waves at GoodVibrations who I also remember from another thread (but my poor brain can't remember which one)

And Beesok thanks for the link to the Montesorri room looks gorgeous for the time being, wait until addition of baby ;) I'd love to do something similar if only we had the space...

neenewps · 21/10/2010 15:40

Hi takethatlady. I too thought it was because I was excited.. I never do normally struggle with my sleep.

Yesterday I woke up at 4am and then today the same although managed to get back to sleep. One morning I ended up getting up at 3am as I thought I would wake my DH up with all my fidgeting!!

I have a very short cycle so they have put me at 24th June but we are very close together :o

Got my BFP last Sunday morning.. couldn't wait any longer to test!!

cep · 21/10/2010 15:51

hi everyone, wow pg 2 already. Sorry about the job isabelle. Welcome neenewps

hope everyone is doing well.

mummynumber2 · 21/10/2010 15:52

I though it was just me waking up at the crack of dawn every day! Although I think the fact that I'm having to limit my activity all day and am going to bed at 9pm most nights!

Good luck with the job hunting Isabelle, it must be tough at the moment. I think you must live very close to me.

Going to try to measure myself and order a maternity bra online now. The mothercare website explains how to measure but has anyone got any idea what kind of bra is best to get? Do I need a maternity bra or will any cheep one do?

yellowtomato · 21/10/2010 16:03

IssyStark my scan is next Thurs and I'll be 6+5 then too.....we can be scan twins!

mummynumber sorry have no bra advice at all. Last time I went to M and S to be measured and they were v rude then went to mothercare and the lady there was very nice. I think as long as there is no underwiring it should be ok?

I am waking up earlier at the weekend but not during the week....that doesn't make sense does it?

welcome neenewps

IsabelleSE19 · 21/10/2010 16:03

Thanks all for good wishes.

Can't believe how many people are waking up early - I am the complete opposite! Have to keep napping, although at the moment that's partially just to keep warm because it's freezing at the mo!

mummynumber2 - I live in Crystal Palace. For those not local, it's not as glamorous as it sounds!

neenewps · 21/10/2010 16:12

So should we no longer wear underwired bras??? The thought makes me cringe not to as I have a fairly big bust as it is and believe me I need all the support I can get!

Also I know in my post I have put I am 4+3 as I thought that meant 4weeks and 3 days?? However upon reading a post on another thread, have I got that completely wrong Blush

AbyCat · 21/10/2010 16:17

Hi all, first time poster here - just found out I'm nearly 7 weeks gone, and went to the dr today who gave me a due date of 14th June, still in shock to be honest!

Don't talk to me about sore boobs, mine were a 34J before and are growing by the second, or so it feels (serious ouch factor), so god knows what I will do for bras in a few weeks, I don't think they go much bigger than JJ even in Bravissimo!

NurseSunshine · 21/10/2010 16:21

Hello all, hope evceryone's well.
Sorry about your job isabelle

beesok I am definately looking at loads of baby stuff websites, although will certainly not be buying anything yet. I can't wait until I can though!

I'd never thought about having the cot actually opening out onto your bed though now that it's been mentioned I think that's a wonderful idea. I wouldn't have the baby in bed with us as toooooo dangerous though.

Does anyone have a preference as to sex of the baby? I'm hoping for a little girl though if it is a boy child I suppose I shall have to make do [hwink]

PS feeling sick

wonnaywombat · 21/10/2010 16:34

Big welcome to neenewps and abycat and congrats!

OP posts:
moomin156 · 21/10/2010 16:49

Welcome all the new folks and congratulations on the BFP's..... i have to say at 4- 5weeks i was also waking up very early and having very restless sleeps even though i was so tired.

This week however i am sleeping for England, partly the bug i think though. Just had another 90min kip this afternoon and i didnt wake up until 9am. But did get dressed and venture outside.....needed my eyebrows threaded before they took over my face, seemed to be more painful than usual though.....? hormones ? bug......who knows!

yellowtomato · 21/10/2010 16:50

neenewps that is right, 4+3 is four weeks and three days measured from your last period.

i think it is no underwiring because it affects the developing milk ducts or something.

NurseSunshine I'd like a girl too. But either would be fine

moomin156 · 21/10/2010 16:51

Abycat i was going to venture to bravissimo next week as i usually wear there bras.....they ae not very exciting on the website though :(

8rubberduckies · 21/10/2010 16:58

Hi, went completely against your advice Issy and as it's payday went and bought a digital test. It said Pregnant 1-2 weeks, so 3-4 weeks in real terms. I feel a lot better now although I must be just over 4 weeks by now, I'm pretty sure cos I know when I OVd!

Welcome to the new folks, and congratulations! Grin Grin

Mummynumber, yellowtomato and neenewps once we get a bit further along in our pregnancies and our boobs start preparing for their true purpose Wink, underwiring can affect the development of milk ducts, if it is digging in or the bra ill-fitting. I found non-wired bras a lot more comfortable in later pregnancy and when breastfeeding, but I wouldn't get too hung up on it, as long as you're comfy and bra fits very well.

NurseSunshine I really wanted a girl with 1st, and got a boy. I now want another boy! My partner is dead set it's a girl this time, so the jury's out in our household...
