Hi all - we've very nearly exhausted the 1,000 post limit on our previous thread so here is the new one.

Looking forward to continuing to share the ups, downs, symptoms, queries, worries and joy (fingers tightly crossed!)

Welcome substandard! Always room for an extra one :)

Barbie, I am on Lofepramine for anxiety and I discuss it with my GP before TTCing. She recommended that as long I was off them before the third trimester, it was safe.
I am now weaning off them, it will take 3 weeks altogether. Agree with the others, I would be finding another GP, the advice he is giving seems very dodgy.

Off to see the MW this afternoon, I am 8+3.

Most won't see you until you have missed 2 periods.

8rubberduckies · 03/11/2010 14:58

Welcome and Congratulations Substandard, we will all wriggle up a bit and fit you on no problem! You are lucky not to have many symptoms, but I know it's worrying as well... there's still plenty of time though Wink Grin. I am about a week ahead of you and was wishing for more symptoms up until 2 days ago, and now I feel sooooooo sick, yet soooooooo hungry at the same time, and can smell a bin at 100 paces [yeuch emoticon]. The only time I don't feel ill is when I am physically eating something, but getting so full up so quickly. I haven't had a proper meal since Monday night Sad.

Barbie, I somehow missed your bit of your post about your GP, I will add to the many voices of dissent and suggest you change GPs pronto, and also make sure you let the surgery know why. Maybe just change surgery, if his attitude is common to the whole surgery's attitude. I had to do this when pg with ds; I thought my GP was pretty pants after a number of different comments and mistakes on his part over a couple of years, but it kind of came to a head when I went to see him after bleeding because of a low-lying placenta and he had to ask me what that was Confused.

sasamaxx · 03/11/2010 15:29

Welcome to the thread substandard

I'm still feeling pretty good today so I'm now starting to worry about that...
9+4 today.

Please can someone suggest a quick and easy dinner - must be child friendly and have ingredients purchaseable in sainsburys. I'm going out in about half an hour - please......

clench234 · 03/11/2010 15:38

Easy dinner - pasta, pesto, tin of tuna and a tin of sweetcorn.
Or fajitas with fried up chicken and peppers
Or my favourite orange tea - fishfiners, chips and beans ;-)
Hope that gives you a bit of inspriation, all absolutely minimal effort! Yep, I am still feeling sick so am up for anything that increases amount of time lying on sofa!

clench234 · 03/11/2010 15:39

With bananas and custard for pudding ;-) mmmmmmm

clench234 · 03/11/2010 15:40

Ready made custard obviously.....

takethatlady · 03/11/2010 15:45

Pasta with tomato sauce - fry some and garlic, chuck in some dried oregano, and then a jar of passata and a swig of balsamic vinegar. Shove a load of pasta into it and grate whatever cheese you've got over the top. If you want to be really healthy you can wilt some spinach into the tomato sauce, but really there's no need :)

sasamaxx · 03/11/2010 15:47

Great - thanks for suggestions!!
We had pasta last night I'm afraid so that's out but fajitas are a great idea!!
Any more before I go...???

petitech and NurseSunshine

American healthcare can be a little bit over the top. Some aspects are good and some are bad. I thought I would post what the nurse said as some of it might help someone with the dreadful ms. Thank you for the tip on switching carbs for protein. I had it very bad two weeks ago and what made it worse for me is that I had no warning as to when I was about to chuck! I now have a couple of gallon sized freezer ziplock bags on me at all times. After following all points I feel much better and I have not thrown up for a week now.

I am also a bit scepitcal about the weight gain. I figure that I have my nutrition pretty sorted and as a back up I am taking the prenatal vitamin tablet and DHA. DH is in the food business so while I probably have bigger portions than required, the food is pretty healthy. I am overweight by 11lbs and both my obn and GP have been on me for a while to get my BMI to 25 or below. So far I have gained 2lbs and I guess it is all water weight.

neenewps · 03/11/2010 16:14

Think you might have left sasamaxx but I know someone else was asking about soup recipes. This one really is delicious and uber easy to do. I can also wholeheartedly recommend the website this is on which has similar recipes to the good food books..

neenewps · 03/11/2010 16:19

takethatlady I think I will skip your housework thanks :) mine is enough!

The bloomin boiler has decided to break down today! Thank goodness it happened earlier in the day so the engineer has already been and the part is on order for tomorrow. Fingers crossed he gets back here for tomorrow!

Stress from my work has been resolved so that is great.

I am so tired today?! Not sure why so today more than any other day??

Hope everyone's scans have gone well today.. still just under 6 weeks to mine Confused

broughthimroundtotheidea · 03/11/2010 16:21

Hi Ladies and welcome substandard
Update on the brown stuff........its watery but there is more of it today than yesterday, so I am taking myself off to the gp at ten past 5......xx

neenewps · 03/11/2010 16:23

I hope it goes ok at the GP broughthimroundtotheidea {{hug}}

yellowtomato · 03/11/2010 16:24

Oh good luck at the doctors broughthimround fingers crossed he/she is helpful and reassuring. Let us know what he/she says....

takethatlady · 03/11/2010 16:53

Ha ha neenewps I think you're blaming me for sasamaxx's plea for dinner ideas.

I, on the other hand, am such a lazy mare I haven't done any housework in weeks. Grin

takethatlady · 03/11/2010 16:53

Yep, good luck broughthimround xxx

Substandard · 03/11/2010 17:09

Thanks for the welcome, ladies Smile

Have just been to pick up prescription for the mini-aspirin because I had pre-eclampsia in a previous pregnancy. Feels a bit more real now and a bit of a weight of my mind. Felt like my midwife booking in appt was too far away

catherineps · 03/11/2010 17:11

Hi everyone

Thinking of you broughthimround - I guess you're in the doctor's right now. Fingers crossed!

I'm similar to you milliemuffin - quite early on, it's not really sunk in and not feeling too many symptoms. I went out for lunch at the weekend and this child was screaming and that's the first time I think I really realised I'm going to have one of those!! Why couldn't it have been some smiling angel?

Sympathy to everyone with ms x

KaraStarbuckThrace · 03/11/2010 17:12

Fingers crossed broughthimaround.

Bad luck about the boiler newneeps!! Hope engineer gets the part he needs to fix it!

Just got back, turns out session was a prebooking group session, although we were taken off individually to have BP & weight & height check. No chance to discuss anything, however have my actual booking in appointment next Wednesday.

Star82 · 03/11/2010 17:30

Hi Ladies :) Not posted on here for a while as found it a bit difficult keeping up with everyone as it was moving so fast. I have read all posts though.

Sorry to place further sadness on our board but i think i'll be exiting shortly.

I had an early scan today. They measured the gestational sac at 6+1 and no heartbeat. The sonographer tried to reasure us that it may be that i'm just not as far along as i thought and that often the heartbeat isn't present at this point.
I however know this is impossible.
Firstly, i kept testing using the conception indicators once i got a positive and saw it move from 1-2, to 2-3 to 3+ and it changed spot on each sunday. I should be 7+3 today. Secondly, at 6+1, this would put my conception date at 2 days before i first tested positive which i'm sure would be impossible!!
Not too impressed with the hospital as because i've not had cramping or bleeding, there are no avenues to try and get me seen by the EPU. She really tried to get me seen in 10 days but came back with an appointment for 11 december!! I can't believe that they will potentially leave me like this for 5 weeks when i may not naturally miscarry. It just seems ridiculous when i'm telling them that i know from the dating that this is not viable.
I'm ok though. Think it's hit DH more at the moment. We had a mix up with scans and i have a private one booked on saturday as they couldn't see anything the first time. Do any of you guys know if it would be worth still keeping this? Would a healthy fetus have grown a little in 4 days? I may even just have this anyway and then book another privately for next wednesday. Not sure what to do for the best.

sasamaxx · 03/11/2010 17:38

star2 - so sorry to hear this. Hoping against hope that there is still a chance it will all be ok.

neenewps - that recipe looks great - however I had already left and I've just finished a yummy dinner of fajitas, thanks to clench

catherineps · 03/11/2010 17:40

Hi Star,

I'm really sorry that you've had worrying news but don't give up hope yet! I'll be praying for you all x

KaraStarbuckThrace · 03/11/2010 17:47

Oh Star, am so sorry to hear this, and how unhelpful the hospital has been Sad

No advice about the scan, but maybe it would help you decide a further course of action if you did have it?

yellowtomato · 03/11/2010 17:55

Hi Star I'm really sorry to hear this. I am not an expert but I know that all pregnancies can develop at different rates and it is very difficult for them to be totally accurate at this stage.

If it were me I'd still go to the Saturday scan because at this stage a few days can make a difference and it might help you out of the limbo. When it happened to me I just wanted to know for sure.

I really hope it works out for the best for you. Perhaps you could try posting in the miscarriage forum as there are very kind and lovely and knowledgeable ladies over there who seem to know lots about scans and stuff.

I will be thinking of you.
