good luck vix

Still here, 40+6 today. MW attempted sweep last thurs but couldnt reach cervix???? Apparently very posterior. Have been walking loads and bouncing on ball and enlisted DH s help too all to no avail :( Due back for another attempted sweep on tuesday and then have to book induction.

vix206 · 29/08/2010 09:59

A bit shocked! Midwife suggested I give dh oral satisfaction to bring on contractions and then said - or proper sex. But my waters have gone so that's surely out if the question???? Anyway there'll be none of that we are going to asda to get some last minute supplies and then a brisk walk if we need to.

chickieno1 · 29/08/2010 10:18

I don't think you re meant to have sex if your waters have gone! The walk sounds good though.......

vix206 · 29/08/2010 10:27

That's right! No sex once waters have gone because it's no longer sterile for baby. That's why I was so surprised that she said it!

foxyjbro99 · 29/08/2010 10:56

I'm starting to wonder about some midwives, in particular all the ones i have seen Hmm

SmilerJane · 29/08/2010 12:01

No vix No sex as can transfer bacteria so dont listen to that MW..I am on my third and been preg 4x and its a definately a no no for sex and oral just wouldnt start anything off (how could it???) Hmm.. Best way to keep baby moving down is walking about keeping upright babes.. Good luck.. Will b thinking of ya :)

vix206 · 29/08/2010 12:24

Don't worry I know! Haven't had sex since 20 weeks anyway and not about to start now :)

Lots of contractions but they don't hurt!

SmilerJane · 29/08/2010 12:35

Awww bless.. With my DD 3 1/2 years ago i never had 1 painfull cx till 2pm.. kezia was out by 2.55pm lol... Hope it goes like that for you and hardly any pain Grin
It was the same this time really..inlabour 16 hrs but only painfull the last few hrs :) Again good luck hun XX
My man still moaning n i still not doing anything lol
Ah well tuff tits to him i will when i am ready lol

SmilerJane · 29/08/2010 12:40

I have pics on my profile of jorgia if u want a smile lol :)

Alicetheinvisible · 29/08/2010 12:59

Good Luck Vix!!!! up and down stairs sideways is meant to help too Smile

Congratulations MrsZ and Ishe!!

Jane very cute!

F is now 10days old and very sleepy today, he has put on 4oz since wednesday though so very pleased. I seem to be producing so much milk at the moment it is unreal. Think i will get some storage bags for it and start pumping when he sleeps for so long as it is killing me!

SmilerJane · 29/08/2010 14:07

Thank you I am so proud Grin XX Your lucky Alice as in hospital they wouldnt let me home till she was feeding.. 3 days later i still could only hand express 3ml every 3/4hrs n took me 25 mins to do so.. I asked if there was anyway to help my milk come through as it happened with my other DC and they said no there isnt... I recently have been told there is tablets that would of helped my milk comethrough.. but on day 3 eve at hosp they put her on nutriprem2 (a special baby milk for prem babies) i gorged once expressed and got 30ml wow... but then have never filled back up since.. Gutted... I sowanted to BF this time n was heartbroken when they told me to put her on bottle.. Nothing i can do now tho and jorgia is growing great.. 10lb 2 last weighed!
Hope that you are doin great and Baby Fredrick XX

Alicetheinvisible · 29/08/2010 14:16

Apparently there is a herbal thing called Fenugreek(sp?) that is meant to boost milk production.

vix206 · 29/08/2010 15:47

Despite our best efforts to get this going I've had no contractions yet. 1 he 45 mins and I'll have to call hospital to see if they have a bed for me. Might feel differently later but right now I feel quite ready to just go in and get this baby out where he belongs!!

CellyD · 29/08/2010 17:27

Congratulations to all the new Mums & good luck Vix! Anna sorry for not replying before now about the 20 second winding technique, my little one has a knack for having very disrupted sleep at night because of the excess gas so in the day I'm usually exhausted. The Infacol and winding seem to be helping a little.

So for winding, I try to burp baby every 5 minutes while feeding. Then I rest baby on her back then gently while counting to 20 seconds bring baby to a sitting position before placing her against my shoulder to wind her. Usually after a couple of attempts at this, little one produces the goods! Hope that helps.

vitapulchra · 29/08/2010 19:36

Looks like we'll need a final thread for us last few stragglers, so come on over this way.

girlsyearapart · 29/08/2010 20:08

vix I think your husband may have been bribing the midwife into saying that!Wink

vix206 · 30/08/2010 07:11

I'm having a right time of it :( was told I had to go in as a matter of urgency last night for immediate induction due to waters having gone, no cxs and the fact I'm now 14 days over. So packed bag, went in and was told to wait in day room while they prepared a delivery suite. We arrived at 8pm. Sat for 2 hours until someone came and asked us abruptly who we were and what we were doing there?? Turns out we had been given wrong info and should have been elsewhere. So we saw a midwife at 10 who said there was no beds, checked me over and sent me home. Told to call this morning at 7 about beds, just rang and told to call again at 730.

Seriously wondering if there is any end in sight for me! Also very scared and exhausted :(

vix206 · 30/08/2010 07:53

Rang at 730-told to wait for midwife to call me back. This is so stressful, and feels so disorganised and out of control. I've totally list sight of this being a happy event to be honest and just feel sick and scared.

girlsyearapart · 30/08/2010 08:01

oh vix poor you-keep the lovely snuggly new baby image in your mind

Aussieng · 30/08/2010 09:05

Hi vix - exactly same thing happened to me. Don't know why they say ring at 7/7.30 - it is shift change and they are clearly at their most disorganised at this point. All this call back/don't call us we'll call you crap - it makes you feel really unimportant to the very people tasked with caring for you just when you are about to do the most important thing you have ever done.

They WILL get organised. Once you are in there you will be taken good care off and all will be well. Don't panic - you are not massively overdue for a western woman, the risk if infection is low, you and lo will be well monitored for any signs of it. Please keep the faith - the end and your lo are very very near now. Xxx

vix206 · 30/08/2010 09:31

Thanks Aussie x They rang half an hour ago and asked me to go in. I just need to shake off the tears and the terror, I am being a right wimp. I guess I'm just exhausted and worried. Thanks for all your support ladies, I have turned into a right moany mare! xx

Poncherello · 30/08/2010 09:39

Ah Vix don't you worry at all ... it's horrible when you feel at the mercy of other people's arrangements, especially when they're meant to have your best interests at heart.

Really good luck today - look forward to hearing from you soon lovely xxxx

vitapulchra · 30/08/2010 12:14

This way to our last antenatal thread where we'll start off hoping for comfort, health and happy baby for Vix! Also for anyone else labouring this weekend.
