Congrats to babyducky and dogwalker

Feel really bad for you pample hope things work out ok.

Know what you re talking about lizzie and vix. Even though I'm only 40+3 feeling really down and trying not to show it to dh and my family and his family :(. He has to go back to work next week and my dad lives abroad and has his flight booked home for next monday night which he cant change. Really want baby here before he leaves but dont want to say too much cos I m sure he feels the same and he ll be bummed if he misses the arrival. it s the first grandchild on both sides so there s loads of excitement but I m a little stressed with the daily phonecalls........

Have MW appt tomorrow for a sweep and then to discuss induction. Fingers crossed something happens before that.

Positive vibes to all the other ladies in the waiting room!!!!!

isheisnthe · 25/08/2010 20:46

well, I had my sweep - it wasn't very comfortable but was okay - slightly (TMI) blood discharge since - and I feel like I have a bowling ball in my pelvis now - can hardly walk!

She said my cervix was favourable and dialated.

My hospital is not taking inductions on BH weekend so my induction is not booked until NEXT tuday - I will be 13 days overdue - please god it doesn't take that long :-(

pamplem0usse · 25/08/2010 21:55

Well, evil midwife has now left. She had me being monitored for two hours before the second pessary as the trace wasn't working properly. New midwife had me on my side and it worked straight away. Unfortunately nothin much happening 'down there' though do feel a bit less stressed (after all another day of late pregnancy done!).... Nearly didn't get my second prostin though as a nearby hospital has had a complete power cut so all of it's labouring women are here and no delivery suites. So if I do go Ito labour now I'm labouring on the ward. Thanks for all the lovely messages.
Special mention to jays - I'll be keeping my fingers (but nothing else!) crossed for you. Hope you don't have as many polyhydramnios related issues as me with monitoring!
Vix - hope things kick off for you soon even though your baking sounds more and more marvellous!
I know there are others who left v sweet postsni wanted to mention by name but I've forgotten - sorry ladies!
Disgusting story of the day: I got to hospital desperate for a wee and rushed to the loo... Someone had left a giant poo in there which made me puke everywhere! Xxx

isheisnthe · 25/08/2010 22:00

Do you have to wait until your waters break to go to the hospital? (stupid as I have already had 2 children but I can not remember and I know with DS1 they broke just before he was born and DS2 at home!)

Jaysfourth · 26/08/2010 02:08

Wide awake!!!

Some mild tightenings with bearable cramping....

Need to sleep , but just tossing and turning!

Jaysfourth · 26/08/2010 02:44

no ishe... if you think your contractions have started and are coming regular, you can call them then also, they may want you to stay at home for a bit, but its worth letting them know etc.

LCRLCR · 26/08/2010 04:59

Oh dear can't sleep again. Still bleeding a bit from sweep - not mucous though so it's not a show?

vix206 · 26/08/2010 06:54

I've had a crap nights sleep too. Had a panic attack late last night, dull but totally nothingy cramping on and off and 2 f-ing annoying cats that have woken me up several times (my cats I hasten to add). This past week or so they just miaow at the door all the time wanting to come in it is so bloody unhelpful :(

So another day of being totally bored, lonely and frustrated stretches ahead of me. Feeling so down and depressed.

pamplem0usse · 26/08/2010 07:31

Vix I'm really sorry things are so tough; have you any friends/family who can pop around who are particularly good at cheering you up?
LCR I was told this could happen after my horrid internals; apparently t's not a show but where they've broken blood vessels in the neck of your cervix. Nothing of note happening here but the overnight midwives have been much nicer and more optimistic. Little sleep but dh coming in half an hour which I'm looking forward to! Xxx

pamplem0usse · 26/08/2010 07:33

And jays - goof luck for later. Breaking my waters is apparently the order of the day here if my cervix has decided to be compliant! Xxx

bouncingblueberries · 26/08/2010 08:12

pample shall we sort out that midwife for you? I'm sure weehector could help arrange for some Glaswegian heavies to pay her a visit...you just give the nod and we'll spring into action.

vix sorry you had such a rubbish night. Not long now though - you'll be cuddling your gorgeous baby before you know it and late pregnancy will be a distant memory.

lcr we're having a wee family outing to Brighton tomorrow, so make sure the sun shines for us please! Hope things progress for you soon.

How you doing mrszac? Any news?

Good luck to everyone else having sweeps or inductions today!

isheisnthe · 26/08/2010 08:34

well, what a let down - after barely being able to stand up due to pain its all stopped after a night in bed - was a sharp pain right in the vagina tho rather than contraction pain??

DH has gone to work pissed off as i woke him up cos of his snoring last night and he took himself off to the sofa at about 1am - i didnt ask him to!!

I've had enough - i am pissed off - all the sweep seems to have done is make me unable to stand upright with out a stabbing pain gong through me - which is just perfect when I have a 6 & 7 year old at home on summer holidays.

I'm also irrationally angry at all parents and inlaws for not helping me out a bit with the older boys - no one has taken them anywhere since the summer holidays started, I have done lots with them but its nearly killed me - I bet they all have time to come round when the baby is born though - well they can piss right off then - grrrrrrrr

vix206 · 26/08/2010 08:56

Isheisnthe I've had the same pains on and off since my sweep, I did read that sweeps can just aggravate you but had to try it. I've been so uncomfortable since mine. Thought it was all good signs but now not sure. also was sure the mucous and bloody discharge was shows but it seems not from what others have said so even that was false. I feel like my baby doesn't want to be born and/or my body is a failure. And I know I sound pathetic.

Having to tell dh and text my mum all the time with constant 'nothings happening' "updates" makes it worse and am stuck here with no car, no way of getting out (not happy walking where we live really) and everyone I know is working or too far away. Anyway, annoying myself now with my moaning so I'm really sorry girls. X

marzipananimal · 26/08/2010 09:11

don't worry about moaning vix, I'm feeling the same. I was quite hopeful something might start in the night as I did lots of (fastish) walking yesterday, my bump was slightly achey and DH said he had a 'feeling' it was gonna start tonight. No such luck :(
I normally quite like being at home on my own but this has been going on WAY too long. I'm trying to plan some activity into each day to make the time pass but running out of ideas. Todays plans are to do some laundry (what an exciting life I lead!) and make some buns. Probably will go for a walk again to try and move things along although I have nowhere to go really.

On a happier note, I popped into work yesterday to say hi to people and one of my colleagues has made me a lovely quilt for the baby! Very unexpected but so kind of her, it made my day :)

LCRLCR · 26/08/2010 09:20

Girls I'm with you! All the sweep has done is make me bleed which I understand from midwife is normal but all it did was make me anxious. I'm having another sweep tomorrow. The weather here in Brighton is awful (sorry bouncing, doing a mental sundance for you) so I'm stuck at home, don't have a driving licence, house semi-renovated but the most aggravating thing is - and I know I sound like a brat - is waking up to a stream of enquiring texts and emails from well-meaning friends. I just feel pressure to explain why baby isn't here yet and like you vix feel like I'm letting everyone down. Some posts on my facebook are just plain insensitive, verging on rude....

There you are, a proper whingy rant. Sorry everyone, not very favourable ripening thoughts for baby is it Sad

pamplem0usse · 26/08/2010 09:32

Evil midwife is back and actually getting worse. She's really irritating me and something the consultant said makes it sound like she's eiter the worlds biggest pessimist or deliberately misinformed me!
The good news in that they're pretty sure that if things don't get moving today they'll pop me on a drip tomorrow. Never thought I'd say this but it'd actually be an almighty relief!
Why oh why do they no seem to get that time matters inthe sense that I'd you tell me you're going to do something an hour and a half ago it's probably a bit unfair for me still to be waiting...

soontobefatnat · 26/08/2010 10:01
isheisnthe · 26/08/2010 10:42

and now I am feeling even worse - have gone MENTAL at the boys for arguing - its constant - I am standing in agony at the hob making french fucking toast and they are back and forth arguning - I put the first piece of FT on their plates and they carry on, I shout, stop arguing - they carry on - then DS1 says that he will now not eat the french toast as I have shouted - cue me - like a mad woman, rushing the kitchen table and putting it in the bin, then putting the rest in the bin that was cooking and yelling like a mad woman - GET UP STAIRS AND OUT OF MY SIGHT.

I am a horrible mummy - Why am I having another one.

LittleMissSnowShine · 26/08/2010 11:16

LCR - know exactly how you feel, weather lovely here but SPD is awful if I try and walk any distance and also makes driving out of the question, and pretty much everyone I know is at work or doesn't drive. So last few days have been a bit boring!!! Bit worried about how I'll cope home alone with the baby if SPD doesn't clear up, apparently it makes pushing a buggy really hard for some people Confused

Chulita - try the saynoto0870.com website - gives you alternative numbers for 0845 numbers, which means its cheaper to phone and be on hold (or free if you have a talk plan or something on your phone) but it sometimes means you also get through when ordinarily you wouldn't if that makes any sense. bizarrely, the first number they suggest has a belfast area code but puts you through to an office in abderdeen or somewhere. weird tax office stuff...

isheisnthe - You're def not a horrible mummy, you're making french toast after all!! You're just fed up, hormonal and tired. Don't be so hard on yourself, the boys will have forgotten all about you shouting in an hour or so

soontobefatnat - Feel your pain, my due date is 48 hours away and no real sign of baby showing up before that and I just kind of feel like it's not going to. I have a hospital appointment tomorrow and I'm sure they'll bring up having a sweep and then booking an induction. Not exactly the birth I was hoping for with tens machine and birthing pool etc but pelvis feels like it's about to shatter and bump is so huge now I am just staggering around so I'm sort of resigned to just letting them do whatever they need to to coax that baby out of there!!! Let me know if any of your labour inducing techniques work out :)

LizzieA · 26/08/2010 11:23

isheinthe you are not a horrible mummy, you should have tried growing up with mine at times! You sound mellow compared to some of the performances my mother threw when we were little.

Sweep Ladies - I bring you hope, but don't get too overexcited there is no baby yet!

I got in the bath last night and when I got out I went for a wee. When I stood up I kept on weeing a little bit. I threw on a pad and didn't dare hope anything was happening. Trickle continued and I phoned the hospital who told me to put on a fresh pad and ring back in an hour if the pad was wet. It was a bit damp but not wet so I didn't bother to ring back. I went to bed wearing a pad and it was damp this morning when I woke up.

I phoned the hospital apologising for being a pain at 8am and asked if I could come in for a check and they told me to head in. I prepared DP for disappointment and told him that he wasn't allowed to laugh when I was told that I was pissing myself - he was allowed one giggle and a very small snigger! Anyway, they hooked me up to the monitor to check on the baby (who is fine) and then had a look at my lady bits - MY WATERS HAVE BROKEN!!!!

No pains as yet though so I've been sent home to wait. I'm back in at 8am tomorrow to be properly started off if nothing has happened before.

So there you go, the sweep on Monday must have done something but there is hope for the rest of you as all I'd had since the sweep was a bit of a dull ache period pain which didn't last for long and a dribble of bloody/ mucusy discharge which was barely there at times.

I'm thinking about getting excited but still seems a bit unreal that I should have my little man by the weekend! I'm that far over my due date that the fact that I'm getting a baby at the end of this seems to have got lost on me!

LizzieA · 26/08/2010 11:26

I apologise for the amount of exclamation marks in that last post!!!!!

Poncherello · 26/08/2010 12:09

Hello ladies ... argh frustrating times! I don't remember it being like this last time! What is it with the medical profession banging on about inductions / sweeps etc etc just seems to cause even more expectations and anxiety. Also due dates are so unreliable, only 5% of babies actually arrive on their due date and not only that but 37-42 weeks is considered normal term - grrrrr

Rant over.

LizzieA good luck!

Pample definitely should get some heavies onto that midwife - can you speak to anyone about her?

LCR/Vix actually had to tell my Dad not to keep phoning me every day, felt very bad but if there's no news there's no news and of course we'll be in touch when there is!

Hope those stuck at home in this shit weather are ok ... DH reminded me about how much I wanted to get the garden looking lovely before the baby arrived so I could pad about and relax in the sunshine - ha - hasn't stopped raining for ever and lucky we spent the time doing other things instead.

I have a consultant appointment this afternoon for a check up ... just interested to find out whether the discomfort is actually doing anything or just there to annoy me and probably to book in for a c-section next week. Debating whether to try a sweep or not as dreams of the VBAC seem to disappearing. Going to try curry etc etc tonight.

xxxxx

LCRLCR · 26/08/2010 12:13

Brilliant news LizzieA lots of luck!

pamplem0usse · 26/08/2010 12:28

My god i'm going to start tearing my hair out! So yesterday she told me I needed my second pessary six hours after the first so I arrived back on the ward in time for the monitoring beforehand and she refused to start the monitoring until six hours after (actually it
ended up being seven)
'because that's how we do it'. Now I overhear a
different midwife telling another lady to be here for 4.30 in time for pessary at 5.30. Grr.
And she told me there was 'absolutely no change to y cervix' despite another midwife telling me that there had been.
I complained about her five weeks ago after a worse incident but the hospital onu offered ne an appointment to discuss it for today!

vix206 · 26/08/2010 12:40

Great news lizzie, hopefully I won't be too far behind you although no signs of anything just yet xx
