And now we have the very helpful comment 'i did try and warn you yesterday that you could be here for days' when she caught me sobbing. Not sure how much more of this I can take.

vix206 · 26/08/2010 13:16

Oh pample you poor thing, that midwife is a right piece of work.

I'm 'enjoying' all the helpful comments on facebook about how in 2 weeks time I'll look back and wish I had this time to myself again. Oh shut up! No I won't I'll be knackered, possibly sore and maybe even a bit overwhelmed BUT I'll have my baby who will be the centre of my world and I will NOT be wishing I was sat here in severe pain (back and hips just kill all the time now) playing a lonely waiting game.

Why do people just trot out the same old crap all the time?

marzipananimal · 26/08/2010 13:36

gah! tell me about it vix. People keep saying 'make the most of it, you'll have no peace and quiet when the baby comes'. I don't want peace and quiet, I want my baby!!!

So sorry about your rubbish midwife pample :( Can't you get rid of her? I've been prepping DH in case he needs to ask for a change of midwife during labour.

weehector · 26/08/2010 15:15

pamplemousse she's a nasty little woman who knows she has you. Ask to see the sister on duty. I'm sending round the heavies..which hospital & ward?

Haribo for everyone still waiting for their niggles to turn into labour - I so know your pain (& nat, the conversation turning to induction at 40wks on the dot was my experience too..like a switch flipping & almost offensive because of my desire for a natural birth). The waiting, symptoms & pre labour niggles is absolutely the shittiest bit by far. Come on babies!

LCRLCR · 26/08/2010 16:13

How about facebook status updates like "LCR is massaging her perineum" or "LCR is stimulating her nipples" - should halt some of the more moronic advice?

pample jesus what a cowbag! Can you your DH have a word on your behalf if you're feeling very vulnerable?

ElusiveMoose · 26/08/2010 17:42

Hi all,

Just popping over from postnatal to say that I'm still catching up with your news and thinking of you all, but not much time to post right now! Huge congratulations on the new arrivals, and lots of happy labour thoughts for all of you still waiting.

Just got back from taking Seth for his first outing - to Waitrose! (boy, that says so much about my life Grin). DS1 is continuing to be so lovely with him - in the car he kept saying things like 'Look, little one, there's a motorbike', and then started trying to teach him French (he knows a few words from one of his books). It just melts my heart Smile.

soontobefatnat · 26/08/2010 18:18

LCR - LOL!

Pample I think we should dump that midwife in a wheelie bin. She sounds RANK! We should storm the maternity wing for you and kick up a stink. In fact, maybe becoming part of a pitchfork mob is exactly what some us need to stimulate labour - heh!

God, Hector, I'd forgotten that happened to you as well. So demoralising, eh? I'm just going to try and keep ahead of the wave, as it were, and delay until I'm bloomin well ready to look at medical induction. Grrrrr.

Elusive - so nice to hear about your first outing. I keep forgetting there's actual like, life, and a baby and stuff at the end of this...

LittleMissSnowShine · 26/08/2010 18:24

Argh!! Back pain, pelvis sore, hard to get off the bloody sofa - managed to go for a walk earlier, tho, which was good. DH came home in a stinking mood from work and he's stomped off to the gym, I could weep cos he'll be back in an hour and if he's still in a foul mood I'm stuck in the house with him all evening cos I can't drive anywhere and my hormones are frazzled!!

Blush

Apologies for the rant. Need some haribo!

anmiko · 26/08/2010 18:53

Hi ladies,
just found this website.
I was due last Saturday 21st, nothing happening. TRying all possible things to avoid being induced, no luck so far. So annoying. And yes, people keep phoning and texting..

Aussieng · 26/08/2010 20:49

Hi Anmiko - better late than never! Welcome & very belated congratulations!

Hi ladies - just a quickie to say Sad so many of you sound soooo fed up. I'm really sorry and thinking of you all. Not long to go now.

No sign of MrsZac and she is quiet on FB too - something must be happening!!!

LCRLCR · 26/08/2010 23:08

MrsZac has had a little girl according to Facebook - yay!

LCRLCR · 27/08/2010 03:01

Wheeeew things have started off in a big way here.....woke up at 1.30am with a gush of waters and now am contracting - feel strong and fierce to me and every 5 mins but as a first timer I have no idea......watch this space!

bouncingblueberries · 27/08/2010 03:44

Good luck lcr!!!

isheisnthe · 27/08/2010 03:48

I with you LCR - woke up around the same time and although my waters haven't gone I am am having fairly regular painful contractions. Am down stairs while DH snores away...!

vix206 · 27/08/2010 04:57

Good luck girls! I am awake wishing I was having contractions :) xxx

pamplem0usse · 27/08/2010 05:12

Lcr good luck!!!
Thoroughly fed up here (fr a change- one day I'll repor good news I swear). Am in limbo of the worst sort. Four of us basically on antenatal need to have our babies today but only seven delivery rooms; have a v bad feeling that things are going to be delayed for me till Saturday. Was having cottactiosfive minutes apart from 5pm last night till three am butthey seem to have pretty much died off now.
Not sure if I can cope with another night of 1.5hrs sleep. Thinking of asking to be transferred elsewhere were there's space if need be.

LizzieA · 27/08/2010 07:20

Benjamin was born this morning at 3.15 weighing 8lb 3 oz. It was all a bit traumatic as he pooped and then started to get distressed. He's currently in SCBU as a precaution but looking good to be back with me later.

I'm a mummy!

Poncherello · 27/08/2010 07:24

LCR Ishe sounds like it could be your day today!

vix am with you ... very bored of waking up with no labour pains - never wanted to be in pain so much before!

Pample thinking of you, have the other ladies been on the ward as long as you?

Welcome Anmiko

Well, the c-section is booked for 1st September (as can't be induced) but I dearly hope labour starts before then.

Had a seriously crap night sleep feeling anxious about hospital. All was absolutely fine with the baby but the lovely consultant offered us a quick CTG and scan on the maternity day unit before we left yesterday for reassurance, no problems at all except the midwife wasn't sure the amniotic fluid levels were high enough from the scan and had to get it signed off by a registrar to cover herself. Cue talk of 'having to discharge myself' Shock and going to the labour ward with her to find someone to sign my notes.

So for some reason, I have to go back tomorrow and Monday for further CTGs - even though my consultant didn't mention any of this. So instead of feeling calm and positive I feel like it's hanging over my head Sad.

Come on little baby - time to come out to avoid all this nonsense!

Good luck everyone!

Poncherello · 27/08/2010 07:32

Congrats Lizzie! Smile

marzipananimal · 27/08/2010 08:31

congratulations lizzie, hope he's out of SCBU soon :)

Good luck to those of you getting contractions. I'm still firmly in the 'nothing happening and very grumpy' camp. Poor DH is getting fed up of still being at work but having hardly anythign to do as it's not worth him starting pieces of work when he might go off at any minute.

babyducky · 27/08/2010 09:13

Congrats lizzie mrs zac & lcr!! (&anyone else if I've missed anyone!)

Aw vix & pample I feel bad for u, hope something happens for u both today, thinking of u x

LittleMissSnowShine · 27/08/2010 09:33

congrats lizzie and mrszac! And good luck LCR! Waiting room is getting ever emptier!!!

I have hospital appt today at 2:15 - it's a weird thing the hospital does, they see you for your 20 week scan and if everything is ok you just see community midwife for next 20 weeks and then you get an appointment again when you're due. I've no idea what to expect - a scan? An internal? Just blood pressure/urine check? Talk of induction? The only other ladies I know who've used this hospital have all had various problems with things during their pregnancies so I don't know anyone like me who has gone to full term with no serious issues so no idea what to expect.

marzipan, vix, pample, anyone else still waiting... can't be too much longer for us all now surely!! I'm going mad!! Was on gym ball last night, loads of back ache and some leakage (tmi!) down below so I was starting to get excited...again! But all faded away when I went to bed and no further developments since. All the false starts are doing my head in!!

Right, I'm off to shave legs now just in case going to hospital happens to provoke sudden breaking of the waters and they keep me in Wink

Aussieng · 27/08/2010 11:18

Congrats Lizzie & MrsZac (hope you don't mind that someone on FB made the announcement for you)! Hope Benjamin is snuggled with you soon Lizzie.

Good luck lcr & ishe.

LittleMiss - same here re hospital. They just did blood and urine and a v brief chat about induction (we agreed to postpone any discussion of induction for at least a week)although had things been different (ie my attitude) it might have been more in depth (my mw had told me that I would be given a date for induction at his appt - I told her Biscuit).

Aussieng · 27/08/2010 11:21

PS does everyone left in the waiting room still have enough of a sense of humour to play a game of guess who will be last???

vitapulchra · 27/08/2010 12:03

Congratulations, LizzieA! Let us know how your little Benjamin gets on, hopefully he'll be back with you soon. So happy for you! Smile
