congratulations to pample and jays!! yay for big babies, but boo at them coming out the sunroof. keep taking your painkillers and lavender essential oil in the bath does seem to help, oh - and HUGE pants Smile

congratulations to usmum too, hope you are ok Smile

good luck littlemiss!

nipples are healing! proper latch and lansinoh are the only way forward. also, my tummy has really shrunk, it may look like a saggy old bit of over used tubey grip, but it is at least a small looking bit Grin

f asleep on me, so only one handed again

CellyD · 28/08/2010 11:47

Congratulations to MrsZac, Lizzie, LCR, Pample and USMum!

I have been lurking at night during feeding time. Little one is lovely in the day and very unsettled at night suffering from lots of gas even when we wind her for half an hour... we tried infacol last night and a 20 second winding technique recommended by a friend, she was slightly more settled so I feel a bit more rested and relaxed today Smile. DP has been brilliant, giving me time to shower, sleep, cry etc... I am dreading when his paternity leave ends.

Hopefully everyone in the waiting room won't have to wait too long to hug their little ones.

AnnaAndBump · 28/08/2010 13:21

Congratulations to all the new yummy mummies, and good luck to those of you still in the waiting room, your LO's will soon be here (but not soon enough for you I know, I was a week overdue and it felt like a life time!!)

Celly I am having the same issues with my DD, we also used infacol last night but it wasn't the success I thought it would be, is there any way you could describe the 20 second winding technique as I would like to try it on my LO to ease her pain :( Thanks

isheisnthe · 28/08/2010 14:16

quick announcement - Baby born at 13.16 yesterday - home at 8.30 last night - pretty horrible birth as he was complete posterior and stayed that way - 2nd degree tear.

9lb 1oz - ouch

Beautiful and worth it though - will do a more complete stort later - good luck to those still waiting x

No name yet

vitapulchra · 28/08/2010 16:14

Right here goes ladies..

i have been following your posts to make sure all of u are well.. but not been able to post..

Here goes a catch up...

Congratualtions

MrsZac LCR isheisnthe USMum
Jaysfourth Ouch.. a big girl, Our Jorgia has only just reached 10lb 2oz at 11wks lol sorry to hear didnt all go to plan with a natural birth and glad ur ok..
Pample I wished had seen ur post bout MW earlier as i know that if u feel like that about a MW at hospital you can com[plain again and actually refuse for her to treat you at all during your hospital stay! as it is detrimental to your mental health being treated with such little respect! Stupid woman!!! How can you feel relaxed etc with a woman bein like that.. Hope scarlett and you are doing great XX

Lizzie I hope your lil one is doing great andisout of scbu asap... My 1st a DS opened his bowels (maconium - spelled wrong i know LOL) when he was born and thats how my waters broke with him but they only monitored him every 3 hrs and didnt even do that if i'm honest.. he was ok luckily! Hope benjamin is home safe n well soon..
and congratulations too anyone i havent already said congrats too lol...
LilMissSunshine LOL at your shaved legs comment Ha ha ha ha ha I was thinking the same thing wheni had Jorgia but then she came 6wks early so didnt have time to shave so i was pretty embaressed with my hairy legs etc but hey no1 actally cares in there Smile

Jorgia is putting weight on well but still suffering with her reflux and has 6 bottles of milk with gaviscon every day..7 bottles in total lol..
I am proud of everyone who stuck with BF.. I am unlucky.. I asked around MWs HVs and Consultant before Jorgia was here saying with my other 2 DC my milk dried up after a week and i Never filled back up and is there anyway i can help my milk.. All replied NO.. I have since been told recently this is bollox (mind my angry language) asd there is tablets i could of taken to help me as i was determined i would BF.. The Docs would not let me leave hosp till she was feeding properly..I asked for tablets (was refused they even existed) then they told me to put her on bottle :( She is on Nutriprem2 and has been since 4 days old.. Gutted! It was confirmed last week there aretablets to help so why didnt they help me..I could of happily stillbeen feeding.. But no...I never ever even gorged..
Anyway best go as the LOs are calling as bedtime now.. Hope everyone else on the list is doing great and even tho impatiently waiting are well, it'll all soon be over and your angels in your arms.. Then time will fly by XX
T care Everyone.. Hope to chat soon
Sorry bout the long post just so many to congratulate lol

SmilerJane · 28/08/2010 19:05

Hope your pregnancy is going great and baby will be with you soon healthy and quick xx
Feel for all those that went overdue or who are overdue waiting.. ((HUGS))

Loooopy · 28/08/2010 19:14

Hi all, i am due in a couple of months, and just in the process of stocking up on things we will need. As many of you have now had your babies, could you please give me opinions on what newborn nappies you have used and how you rate them? i was looking at buying some pampers new baby nappies, but seen some iffy reviews on the boots website, and not sure whether to believe that they are so bad at leaking, or whether the reviews are conveniently there so that people end up buying the boots own brand ones that have better reviews...not that i'm skeptical lol....

vitapulchra · 28/08/2010 19:37

Loooopy- I'm afraid I basically did no research on nappies whatsoever; I just knew I wanted to do disposables so I bought some Pampers which seemed to work fine. Am now using them for DC3 so have been happy with their performance. I've never found them to leak. Since I was happy with them I never tried anything else. hth.

vix206 · 28/08/2010 20:05

Congrats to all the new mummies. I'm still here, been in tears all day today I feel terrible. I am so scared about going to hospital tomorrow, it is the opposite of what I wanted :(

Hoping against hope that something happens before 5.30 tomorrow evening, because thats when I have to call to confirm bed availability at the hospital.

LCRLCR · 28/08/2010 20:16

day 2 and we are home - yay! Um do your babies just want to suckle at the breast and nothing else? Ouch! Surely they can't be like that all the time?

Vix big love, hang in - you don't have to be induced though, did you discuss other options? I went 13 days over

vix206 · 28/08/2010 20:26

I'll be 14 days over when they induce me (Monday). My bp is going up and I have swelling which is getting worse so basically I feel if he hasn't come I should allow them to induce me. Even though it's the opposite of what I wanted. I am most scared of dh bring girded out, I feel safe with him and just want to stay with him but I imagine unless it is visiting hours or I am labouring, he won't be allowed to stay. Never been in hospital before which I think is why I'm panicking.

Oh that and the fact my best friend told me last night that induction was 'like rape' and went on and on about her horrible experience (which I won't repeat but was on a par with the unforgivable rape comparison). I don't believe her, however I am now even more terrified.

vix206 · 28/08/2010 20:27

Btw i have no idea what girded out means! iPhone logic! Meant to type turfed out!

LizzieA · 28/08/2010 20:54

Vix - even though my waters had gone they had to put me on the drip to start me off as Ben had pooed. Induction wasn't the hellish experience that your friend described. My DP was allowed to stay with me at all times and the midwives gave us brilliant care. I know it's not what you wanted but it really wasn't a bad experience for me- I'll postmy birth story when I'm not using the iPhone.

Benjamin is now out of SCBU and with me in my room - the hospital has had a refurb so all lovely private rooms. Hopefully going home in the morning. All ok so far, Ben has just woken himself up with hic ups, sneezed, farted and yawned before going back to sleep! All he needed was a burp and I'd have had the full set!

Congratulations to all our new arrivals, I'm keeping up to date on the iPhone but it's too fiddly to read back for individual mentions. I'll catch up properly once we're home x x

Emster30 · 28/08/2010 23:05

MrsZaC has asked me to post the following update:

Our little girl Nieve Caitlin Campbell was born at 6.50pm on Thursday 26th, 6lb 14oz, after a marathon labour. We are both doing well but still in hospital due to feeding troubles. No internet on phone so can't check in, desperate to hear about all the baby news! Love to everyone.

weehector · 29/08/2010 00:00

vix big deep breath. If it doesn't happen at +14 then baby is just too comfy in there & needs a bit of help. Induction isn't evil (the rape analogy is just nonsense..) & can still be a positive experience. Research the process so you know where you have choices though. For me, no question of turfing DH out, labour started as soon as they ruptured the membranes & i had my baby in my arms 8 hrs after hopping up on the bed. Like going naturally, we're all different. You're going to be a mummy very soon! Good luck!

sparklycheerymummy · 29/08/2010 00:22

hi sorry to hijack this thread but i saw the bit about induction.....i had to have my waters broken and my labour was amazing....all natural and he was a hefty 10lb 11ozs!!! The worst bit was that the doctor who broke my waters ws absolutely gorgeous and young so the worst bit was me thinking phwoar!!!!!

vix206 · 29/08/2010 00:26

My waters broke at about 11.10!! No Cxs yet but my god things are finally happening!!

bouncingblueberries · 29/08/2010 01:10

Yay!! Go vix! Good luck!

pamplem0usse · 29/08/2010 03:29

Good luck vix!!!! and remember if your contractions don't start the drip they give you isn't THat bad if you take context dependent pain relief decisions and are looked after well!

Scarlett just had a mega two hour feed so my nipples are v sore! She's still snuffling away though it'll be lovely if she settles! Xxi

Poncherello · 29/08/2010 06:24

Hooray Vix it'll be no time before your baby is here!

Lizzie great news about Benjamin!

Meanwhile ... no news here Sad have been feeling like something is about to start all week. Marched up a big hill yesterday and had thai for dinner plus tried the 'what can get you in to trouble can get you out of trouble' but to no avail. Might have to find a trampoline somewhere today.

Csection booked for Wednesday but really hoping it happens naturally by then.

Chulita · 29/08/2010 08:30

Yay vix! Hope you're getting ctx now :)

poncherello there's still time, fingers crossed something gets a move on!

Off to grab a shower now that Sam's asleep, back later

vix206 · 29/08/2010 08:41

Been asleep for a few hours, no ctx yet but midwife on way round to see me and then I have to 'get mobile'. Birth pool was set up last night at 1am by dh! (who is shattered)

Feeling a little crampy and sore but nothing more than that right now. But this baby does seem to like to take things slowly, laid back like his daddy!
