We've got 175 -ish messages left on this thread so we all need to deliver by then to swing over to Post Natal - and we will ladies!

vix thanks for signposting the thread, will also put it on my watch list for future reference Envy

I think we might be on for ANOTHER trip to Homebase ... DH has thought of more things to do Biscuit I'm the designated driver in our family so have to go too ...

PS although very lovely that our Prime Minister's baby has arrived safe and well - William Hill had better have got the names / odds wrong as 2/1 looks like they are pinching ours if we have a girl Angry

xxx

mrsZaC · 25/08/2010 11:24

hey ladies, really sorry but it looks like I will be skipping the queue!

As you know waters went at 2am last night and have been trickling ever since, got lots of cramps and period pains but nothing that I would really consider to be a surge (ctx) just been up to hospital for assessment and I'm 1cm dilated and they confirmed that it definitely was my waters going - yippee!! they reckon it will be 24hrs but have booked me in for induction tomorrow if I don't, said to them that I really don't want to be induced given my situation so they said they can give me till Friday latest before moving things along artificially. So come on baby, lets do it!!!

Hope things start moving for some of you today, maybe the 25th of August will be a mass production day!!!

Just off for a long walk round Glasgow green and some lunch with DH. Will keep you all posted.

p.s. a strange thing I just realised is the 26th of August was my original estimated due date the doctor gave me, spooky eh!

LizzieA · 25/08/2010 11:26

Vix I'm still here, nothing much happening. TMI alert I've had pretty much a constant discharge since my sweep but it's nothing major. No pains or anything. I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that he's not making an appearance until I get induced at the weekend. Feeling really depressed to be honest, like I'm a failiure at the getting the baby out bit. I'm going to give my head a wobble and head out to the shops with DP x

vix206 · 25/08/2010 12:32

Lizzie I could have written that post - I feel exactly the same. I hate to moan but I am seriously so depressed and down and feel like a total failure :(

vix206 · 25/08/2010 12:33

Oh mrsZaC - sorry in the midst of my pity party I totally didn't read your post. Good luck!!! I hope you don't need to be induced (I am dreading it too and hoping that doesn't happen) but if it does we'll still be able to make use of our hypnobirthing training I just know it!

Fingers crossed for a productive day, especially for you, LizzieA and myself!! Please!!!!

pamplem0usse · 25/08/2010 13:06

Good luck mrs zac. I'm now feeling thoroughly miserable after the midwife (the same one who took three hours to get me painkillers when I was last in, screaming in pain) has told me 1 things look very unfavourable for induction and 2 the whole prcess might take five days before they give me a section. Ph and it took three hours once we were here for them to start any monitoring and dh has now been sent home. Needless to say I've spent most ofthe morning sobbing. Boo.

LittleMissSnowShine · 25/08/2010 13:06

Sorry to hear you're feeling so down, vix. No need to feel like a failure - baby will be here soon, hopefully of its own free will, but whether you have to be induced or not the end result will still be a gorgeous, healthy baby and a glowing, ecstatic mummy!!

Same to you, lizzie - thinking positive vibes for you both :)

And great news mrszac - hope glasgow green does the trick!!

Some cramping and more odd discharge/show for me (def TMI!) but no cx and no great gush of waters either. But something is happening anyway - would love things to really kick off later today or tonight!! So sending some positive vibes to my pelvic floor muscles too Wink

vix206 · 25/08/2010 13:24

Oh pample I'm so sorry :( Try not to be too sad, I hate to think of you sobbing there on your own in hospital (although I know I would be the same). I know we're not physically there with you, but we are there in spirit!

We all need some cheering up don't we?

I'm making my millionaires shortcake at the moment, although I don;t fancy any myself but its just something to do! Am hoping it will be good midwife fodder for later on tonight when I go into labour [wishful thinking emoticon]

Chulita · 25/08/2010 13:47

pample on the bright side, the longer you're in the less likely you'll have that crappy midwife helping you! I hope things speed up for you, you never can tell with babies! I wish some of us could pop round and cheer you up. Why has your DH been sent home?

lizzie you are not a failure! You've grown your baby and you're going to give birth, how your little one gets here bears no relation whatsoever on how 'good' you are at this motherhood thing. (I've had plenty of hang-ups about my 2 emcs cos I've 'failed' to push the baby out but I've got 2 healthy children :) )

vix I'll have some millionaires' shortcake please, been craving it for a while [bats eyelids]

MrsZaC good luck! Sounds very positive for you :)

pamplem0usse · 25/08/2010 14:25

They'll only let partnersstay for visiting hours and we're out of them now! No veggie food either so desperate for him to bring me a sandwich! Sorry for whinging I know there are lots of people worse off than me on the world - I just can't bare the though of another four days of this!

Thanks for the cheery uppy messages though :) xxx

weehector · 25/08/2010 14:38

Good luck mrszac!

Just wanted to add my twopenceworth re induction. I felt similarly despondent that I didn't go naturally despite a high Bishop Score of 10 & in the early stages bought extra time (2hrs) to let ctx ramp up naturally before finally letting them put the drip in. My advice is that when you get to that stage where induction is necessary, accept that it is now a managed process & let them get on with it - it broke my heart to say yes to the drip & an epidural but once I did, i had a lovely labour that was emotionally satisfying..my epidural worked a dream & I could still move my legs, feel contractions & push in my own time. 8 hrs from start to finish from when they broke waters..including my 2 hrs of bought time. When my ctx were still crap & they were convinced I was heading for a section due to fetal distress, they examined me to find to their surprise I was fully dilated & would be delivering normally after all..which I put down to the hypnobirthing techniques I was practising (by this stage I was off the Syntocinon because of the distress). I was then allowed to trying pushing him out by myself before they decided that he needed a bit of assistance (tried ventouse before resorting to forceps) because of the distress.

A week on, I can hand on heart say I had a lovely pain free birth experience even though it might not sound like it on paper...just wanted to put another vote in there for induction not being the evil it's sometimes it's made out to be. Finally, I was so glad I accepted the epidural at the same time as the drip going in (right up until this point I was questioning every aspect of intervention). They strongly recommended it and though at the time I felt as if i was giving up my last bit of control (even tho ctx were ouchy by then) I'm so glad I accepted it when I did as i'd only have needed one later down the line to get him out.

Only downside is that a week on, my grade 2 tear & episiotomy combo is still a bitch of a pain though I'm more mobile every day.

Today's news from Weehectorland is that we have cracked breastfeeding - the minute we got hold
of nipple shields, it's all fallen into place beautifully. I can't believe we have this little blonde angel who only howls when we take his nappy off & just grizzle to let us know he's hungry or wet. Long may it continue...

Good luck to those overdue & wrestling with induction or sweep decisions. It will all be worth it when your baby is here!

cazzybabs · 25/08/2010 14:41

pamplem0usse - THATS crap they won't let your dh stay. Here's hoping the crap midwife finishes her shift soon. I have to take Poppy to the docs and my midwife runs her clinic at this time and I really don't want to see her. Good luck BTW!

aendr · 25/08/2010 15:01

pamplem0usse: you can ask for a different midwife ("clash of personalities"). Also, it would be perfectly reasonable to ask to see the ward sister - your dietary requirements are not being met, you are feeling very upset by your treatment and you don't want to start labour feeling so unhappy. If you've spent all morning sobbing, they are NOT doing their jobs at all well. Regarding partners not staying, at my hospital they are allowed to stay for the long boring hours of inductions but not overnight until labour is established. It keeps the ladies happier, and that's all important for a better labour.

No signs of any progress here - I have my induction booked for tomorrow. Finally a midwife read my notes thoroughly (after I'd mentioned it to about 5 of them), went !!! at my first labour taking only 5 hours and then went !! at 2 senior phlebotomists taking 40 minutes to get 2 vials of blood out of me decided that all the guidance they'd given me about going in if I went into spontaneous labour and their timings of IV lines and antibiotics for GBS and how many lines they wanted in were totally wrong. They now want me in as soon as start contractions, and in an hour earlier than normal for induction, partly so they have time to track down an anaesthetist to get the IV lines in. I'm trying not to think about drips in both hands, being rather needle-phobic.

Chulita · 25/08/2010 15:02

weehector Envy at your angel. S was lovely for about 2 weeks and now has morphed into a sleepless sucking wonderboy Hmm

LCRLCR · 25/08/2010 15:30

Oh ladies, sending you all great big hugs, hopefully our fortunes will soon turn and we're shortly pushing bonny babes out. A special hug to you pample.

I had my sweep at noon which was fine, not painful so not paying great attention to every twinge and niggle. I refused induction for Sunday and instead have another sweep on Friday then hospital for scan, monitoring and another sweep on Tuesday. Rules out the birthing centre for me sadly unless baby comes by Monday as their cut off is 41 + 6 but on the plus side, maybe it'll be a Sep baby which is better for the school year right (or maybe that doesn't matter - looking for silver linings)

vix206 · 25/08/2010 16:21

I really wish I had refused my induction....Do you reckon if I ring on Friday morning to community midwife office I could cancel booking for induction? They want me in sunday night for induction monday - I should have said no but felt a bit pressured...

LCRLCR · 25/08/2010 16:26

Vix I am sure you can, no harm in ringing for a chat to discuss. i was also booked for Sunday night and they were fine with me putting it off, I don't see why they push you unless they had any reason for concern

LittleMissSnowShine · 25/08/2010 16:43

vix - absolutely cancel if you aren't happy with the plans, at least discuss it further before going through with it if you don't feel comfortable

pample - sorry, crossposted with you earlier! real shame you can't have DH or someone else sitting with you to keep your spirits up, and they can't let you go home either Sad But we're all there with you in spirit and really hope it won't take too much longer for you!

just had guy out to fit the floor in the hall and he thinks the floorboards are too damaged to put laminate on top of. i know it's a small thing but i'm raging, because i tried to explain this to the people we bought the laminate from, how extensive the damage was etc but they just told me it'd be fine and fitter would be able to sort something out. now baby is due in 3 days time, all the carpet has been ripped up, there's a huge bloody hole in the floorboards and the whole thing looks a complete mess. no idea how we're going to try and sort this out, but really wish they'd listened to what i was telling them in the first place a fortnight ago so we could have arranged for someone to fix the boards then. i know i really shouldn't be getting stressed out about this but honestly it looks like something out of that film The Money Pit and if LO arrives imminently and the midwife/health visitor sees the state of it they won't be too impressed Confused

Oh well, at least after an epic 40 mins on the phone have managed to order child tax credit and child benefit forms to be sent out this week. Maternity leave is harder work than real work! And that's before the baby even arrives....

Chulita · 25/08/2010 16:47

How did you get through to the tax credit people? We've been trying for days and we get a message saying they're busy and hang up...Angry

Emster30 · 25/08/2010 17:13

those of you still waiting - would you rather hang on now so that your baby could be born in september and be the oldest in their school year rather than the youngest? i was born on 29 august and my mum said most of the other mums were crossing their legs! actually it never did me any harm being so young for my year.

vix206 · 25/08/2010 17:24

Emster no! The thought of another week is too much for me :)

LCRLCR · 25/08/2010 19:00

I've just had a little brown blood like the end of a period - I had a sweep today so I believe that's normal? Pretty sure midwife said if I had a lot of fresh blood show to call hospital - anyone else had something similar? Not mucosy so wouldn't call it a show

vix206 · 25/08/2010 19:18

Yes lcr I have had 4 of those since my sweep, I think they were shows.

LizzieA · 25/08/2010 19:47

LCR I've had that and it's been mixed with snotty mucus sometimes too.

Jaysfourth · 25/08/2010 19:56

evening all

still here waiting!

LO has moved and moved all around so for the time being i have no idea which way she it laying. I am still booked for induction tomorrow..... if her head is down it will be a better time of it than if not.... otherwise i will have to have her turned then a controlled water break.... its all ifs and buts and maybes... there seems to be so many connotations of what could or might happen that affects how i will deliver this baby, its beyond a joke really! All i know is that something should be happening tomorrow.

Pample i am feeling your frustrations, hang in there chick, it certainly wont go on forever, and whats a couple of days out of the the whole pregnancy!

hi to everyone else too !!
