marzipananimal · 01/08/2010 22:29

wow bubbabear, you're my due date buddy! Have to admit i'm more than a little bit ! Really hope things all go well for you x

thedogwalker · 02/08/2010 07:26

Good morning everyone,

So then Bubba and Neenz is there any news? Have you progressed / was the doctor right????

I'm now officially on maternity, having just had 6 weeks off work, took all my holidays together, so have enjoyed the time off. Now on Maternity leave, I want LO to turn up soon, so that I get to spend most of the 9 months with him and not some of it waiting.

Hope everyone had a good weekend and here's hoping for more baby news soon

girlsyearapart · 02/08/2010 08:24

good luck bubba glad your dh got back to join the support crew!

Dh on duty last night so I got more sleep though for the first time since Tilly's arrival both dds woke in the night. Dd2 has bad tummy so had to change her nappy at 1am.

They are currently 'playing' upstairs which involves much squeaking/screaming/general unsuitable for early morning volume.

NichyNoo · 02/08/2010 09:09

Good luck bubba - how exciting!!!!

weehector - we're due date buddies and I know exactly how you feel! I am feeling really depressed for some reason and just want the baby out!

In the evening he is kicking me so hard and head butting my cervix so hard that I'm almost in tears with the pain. Feel really ungrateful and horrible and keep thinking that I am so lucky to be pregnant and that I shouldn't be feeling like this but then hormones take over

Hopefully not long to go now though.....

Alicetheinvisible · 02/08/2010 09:26

Morning

Please excuse the language, but

FUUUUUUUCK i have only 7 days til due date!!

I am impatient but at the same time a bit wobbly about how quick this has come around.

Bubba how are you? I had a dream about you last night being in labour.

Feeling really irritable today, with the cat, DH, plumber, my bathroom, garden, my sister, mum, random person on the street etc and nearly lost the plot when the fucking cockeral started crowing at 3.30 and didn't stop til 7am (me and cockerals have a bit of a past)

ElusiveMoose · 02/08/2010 10:13

Alice, I have 3 words for you - coq au vin. Mmmmmm.

LittleMissSnowShine · 02/08/2010 10:17

good luck bubba!!

Wine and cake sounds great, vita, even if like weehector I'll probably need some gaviscon before and after but it'll be totally worth it!!

I had loads of cramping on saturday and then yesterday afternoon I spent about 2 or 3 hours in the most insane mood of grumpiness and weepiness all combined, so I was starting to become convinced LO was going to be obligingly early.

But all back to normal today apart from some pretty mild heartburn, but probably a good thing cos did some online shopping and waiting for it to arrive so I can do a domestic blitz and fill the freezer with curries, lasagne, chili, brownies and muffins over next few days ahead of LO's arrival.

But once I've done that, another couple of loads of washing, cleaned the bathroom and made final changes to last chapter of thesis, then I'm ready for him/her to arrive any time. Any time at all...Hear that baby???

weehector · 02/08/2010 10:41

Morning!

blueberries hormonal, moi? I'm sweetness & light and a whirlwind with a Dettol bottle this morning..which just goes to show what a rollercoaster of contentment & hell these last few weeks (or days or hours..) are. I've decided I'm now doing nothing other than exactly what I please on an hourly basis until this baby is here - have even put off tonight's guests - so I'm not forced to overexert my my fluctuating physical or emotional limitations or let anyone down with my flakiness.

will no doubt be back weeping later.

I reckon bubba is in l'hospital.

Alicetheinvisible · 02/08/2010 10:46

Elusive it has crossed my mind! Honestly, i become a mad woman in the middle of the night "Fucking cockeral, need a wee now, now the fucking cat has gone under the bed" me shaking cat treats at a cat at 3.30am i am losing the plot!

All i want is to get into my (finished) kitchen and make it look all lovely and do some baking and waft around in serene late pregnancy calmness, instead i am reduced to swearing at random objects and animals at stupid o'clock in the morning. Feel i might end up with a nervous twitch. I was swearing at the bathroom tiles whilst cleaning them this morning

weehector · 02/08/2010 10:48

And I reckon we now need a swear box for all these bubbling emotions & outbursts . I've put in £25 for crimes committed so far & credit for the next few weeks. alice you owe at least one 'fuck'.

LittleMissSnowShine · 02/08/2010 10:50

fucking hell, a swear box

that's me bankrupted!!

weehector · 02/08/2010 10:51

Cross post. Make that 2 for this morning alone, Mrs Pottymouth.

Alicetheinvisible · 02/08/2010 10:51

but i will be broke.

Can it only count if i swear at something that actually understands?

Chulita · 02/08/2010 11:52

Can I just boast about my little boy who's put on 10 oz in a week just on my breastmilk alone [preens] Thrush is still fucking agony though [donates £5 to tide me over]

alice I'm happy to volunteer to help take care of that cockrel for you, got a lovely 'island chicken' recipe that would be perfect!

pamplem0usse · 02/08/2010 11:58

Right?. I?m going to try and write some nice personal messages before I embark on a full-on moan (which may fill Hector Alice and LittleMiss? swear box, thus rendering it unusable by anyone else!

Vix so so pleased to read about your impending maternity leave (and very jealous of all of your baking plans?. I have such plans but will need someone to prize me from my chair if they are to come off!). Likewise coffeelady?. You self-employed ladies have it very hard.

Jays really hope baby turns for you? will keep my fingers crossed. Must be very frustrating!

Girls well done on your first public breast feed? I have to say that as the time nears for me I feel a bit more freaked by this Hoping to express and so be able to bottle feed with that ultimately, but NCT woman told me that wasn?t recommended for 4-6 weeks so unless I want to stay chained to my armchair once the baby has arrived I?m going to have to get my head around it!

Cazzy hope you managed some tasty meals?.. know what you mean about the rain it?s just drenched the towels I?d put on the line (oops my moaning bit is creeping into the ?nice? bit)?.. hope baby Cazzy arrives soon ☺

Chulita sorry about the thrush and that your DD is struggling. I?m sure it?s only a matter of time before she?s utterly besotted with Sam, and of course it?ll help when you?ve recovered enough to be giving her cuddles again. Try not to beat yourself up about it though?.

Hilda the star ceiling sounds lovely?. Very jealous! We?ve sent the bits and bobs off to Caz but the ?extra? money went to SANDS ? her choice of charity ? so I?m sure if you pushed a few pounds through to them that would do nicely. I believe you can do it online?.

KCoffin congratulations and sorry things are tough at the moment. Ruby?s such a pretty name, also features on our shortlist for a little girl?.

Nikalah hope your LO gets a move on?. Late pregnancy stuff is really hard isn?t it?! (more moan alert) it took us so long to conceive this LO that my focus was so much on the positive pregnancy test that it didn?t really occur to me that pregnancy might be uncomfortable?.. massively naïve of me!!

Elusive just a quick hello! For the second time I managed to watch about half of Sherlock before falling asleep. Boo. At least it?s on Skyplayer. May have a session later to stop me being so mis! Have also got some West wing lined up??

After all this vino talk I think I?m going to have to get myself something for tonight?.. DH is properly grumpy (you?d think he was pregnant?..) and goes from being super supportive to moany. I keep getting told off for being mis and when I explain that I?m not feeling great he rants about me needing to say so ?or else how is he expected to know what?s wrong? (how about the fact that I?m eight months pregnant?!)? He really is wonderful and I love him to bits, but I think the fct he?s been working from home on the basis that I could go into labour at any moment is beginning to get to him. Gently encouraging him to go in tomorrow so that I don?t have to constantly account for what I?m doing!

Bubba good luck! Can?t wait to hear the next birth announcement!!!

On the breastfeeding front I am honestly so impressed by how hard you?re all trying. My lovely MIL keeps making comments about how everyone can do it? and how 6 yrs after her youngest was born she still could?ve fed some babies she was fostering had she been so inclined. I know she means to be supportive but now I feel under mucho pressure. In fact I may even have a breast feeding related sob before this LO has even arrived.

Think that?s enough moaning for now and I haven?t even had chance to mention the evil heartburn and amazing bouncing baby (who seems to want to engage and then disengage at least twice a day!)??.. hey ho!

Hope everyone I?ve forgotten to mention is doing well?. And special thanks to Alice (though you guys might not thank her!) for encouraging me back via facebook. I?d decided I was too moany to post!

xxxxx

Alicetheinvisible · 02/08/2010 12:23

Any time Pample

Chulita well done on your super breast milk!

I just want to add for the benefit of those worried about BF.

With DD i was pouring milk from about 28weeks. I was convinced BF was going to be a doddle, i had plenty of milk and i wanted to do it so i would succeed. It didn't happen. My milk used to come out so quickly DD would literally choke on it. She wouldn't stay latched on and lost 15% of her body weight and didn't sleep at all. At a week old i was sat in floods of tears with a bawling baby. I decided to express some for her. Luckliy my mum had insisted i got a steriliser and a few bottles. DD slept for 4hrs in her chair after only 10oz of milk. DH was disappointed, i have forgiven him but it is not something i will forget. He didn't think i should express because my milk would dry up and it was difficult to BF after giving a bottle. I did what i thought was best and DD was a different baby. She was pretty much solely on ebm, but in our afternoons alone we would snuggle up on the sofa and i would BF her, more for comfort really, but it helped with the bonding. By the time DD was 5/6 weeks old my milk supply was not meeting demand so every other day or so i needed to give one FF, then every day, then about half of the time. But DD still had BM til about four months, even if i could only manage 1 feed.

Basically i just wanted you all to stop worrying as sometimes it doesn't work but it doesn't make you any less of a parent. Your job as a parent is to provide for your child, and if that means formula or expressed milk it doesn't matter

In fact i am planning on expressing this time as it worked well for us.

ElusiveMoose · 02/08/2010 12:37

Hear, hear Alice.

Pample please come and moan whenever you like. We'd much rather that than not hear from you (and your last post was very light on moaning, I thought ).

Right, I'm off to pick DS up from pre-school. Feeling domestic-goddess-y for having thrown together an extremely tasty frankfurter and lentil and home-grown green bean salad for lunch (nicer than it sounds ), instead of the cheese sandwich I was planning on. AND I've just ordered my bathroom tiles, so it feels like things are progressing.

cazzybabs · 02/08/2010 12:40

Breast feeding in public never bothered me... I used to whip them out everywhere - park benches, on the bus...

the worst was at family parties - I don't know why though

mrsZaC · 02/08/2010 13:02

hey ladies, my gosh your still charging through the posts, still hard to keep up after less than a day! ;0)

vix yey for you on your maternity leave, bout time ;0) and good work with your baking efforts, when I've finished making work for myself I'll need to do some baking.

weehector sorry to hear your getting fed up, chin up darling, it will all be over soon

pample I say please come to moan too, that's what we're all here for

well the rings are off! after me boasting to my friend yesterday of no swellings I just had to tease my rings off with some oil! Muchos overheated today too, isn't it funny some mornings you wake up feeling 10x more pregnant than the day before! Totally in a mood yesterday, I was miserable!! I fear it's all downhill for here! think DH is glad he's away again in a week.

So strange hearing you all talking about bfing and such you'll all be pros by the time I produce!! I hope you don't all forget about me tagging along at the back of the bus!

Off for hospital visit tonight, and ANOTHER anesthetic appointment at the hospital on Thursday, hopefully the last one.

Well off to B&Q to look at some paint, and get some other bits n' bobs even though I said that I wouldn't paint the nursery.. maybe I'll wait till DH is away and do it in secret..hmm Still wondering what to do with all the office stuff in the nursery, doesn't look the best

sending good luck vibes to bubba lets hope there is good news soon

xxx

bouncingblueberries · 02/08/2010 13:43

Go chulita that's brilliant! We worship at your super-calorific boobage!

neenz · 02/08/2010 14:04

Great news on the weight gain Chulita, esp considering the thrush.

Well the doctor friend was wrong - I didn't have the baby last night, although I did wake at about 2am with some cramping pains which were short and not very painful and only lasted about 30mins, but it's better than nothing I suppose.

Bubbabear · 02/08/2010 14:46

Hello everyone, just a little announcement & outline as I'm a bit tired! Did not have a very good nights sleep in the end, was uncomfortable & kept waking up. Then at 4am it all kicked off. Strong period type aching so DP ran me a bath which was soothing for abt 20 minutes before real contractions kicked in. Things progressed so quickly that it prob took abt 20 attempts just to get a bit more dressed, make it downstairs, into the car & do the 5 minute drive to hospital!
No idea what time it was then but was 6cm when we got to hospital. Somehow managed with gas & air (even tho in my mind I was screaming 'give me an epidural/c-section/something!!!').
Then our lovely little baby boy was somehow miraculously born at 10.20am. Little baby Aidan Owen, weighing 7lb 10oz, 2weeks & 3days early taking mummy very much by surprise! Now just been moved to a ward, DP snoozing in the chair next to us & bubs waiting to meet his Grandma & Grandad in a minute.
Thank u for all the messages, will read up properly this evening when i'm here just me & bubs, then should be home tomorrow. Photos etc to follow x

Chulita · 02/08/2010 15:02

Congrats bubbabear So glad it all happened naturally for you! Well done on the g&a too, he's a good weight.

MrsZaC we won't forget you, you might pop early anyway, can't tell with babies!

pample that was a pathetic attempt at moanage, I expect more of an effort next time

babyducky · 02/08/2010 15:07

Aw congrats bubba, lovely birth story, another very positive one too!!!

Cant believe u were due after me

Havent caught up properly for ages, sorry I've forgotten most things!

No signs of anything happening here yet, still loads of crampy pains, backache & BH most days though.

I've booked reflexology & a pedicure for friday, worth a try I thought.

My ds ran into the wall last night & cut his head quite badly, had to take him to a & e, luckily didnt need stitches just those glue strip things, they said its prob gonna leave a big scar though

Well done chulita & others for doing so well with the breastfeeding

kcoffin27 · 02/08/2010 15:14
