Congratulations Bubba

KC glad you are doing better

Baby my pedi and reflexology didn't start labour but was the nicest 2hrs i have spent in a very long time!

babyducky · 02/08/2010 15:22

Glad you are feeling better kcoffin

Yes thats what I thought alice, it'll be nice and relaxing anyway, quite looking forward to it!

weehector · 02/08/2010 15:36

Massive congratulations bubba. Brilliant story - so quick we barely had time to worry about you..and thank you for letting the sisterhood know straight away!

chulita atta girl. What a fantastic pair of knockers & a clever baby you must have.

Back to nesting in Weehectorland - have just Brasso-ed the Dualit & the Gaggia within an inch of their lives in the stylee of Annette Benning cleaning the house she's selling in American Beauty. For 'i will sell this house today' read 'i will have this baby today'. My kitchen will be squeaky next time I report in.

NichyNoo · 02/08/2010 15:41

Congrats bubba

marzipananimal · 02/08/2010 15:41

your poor ds babyducky, I hope it heals up nicely. Bet he thinks it's cool to have a scar though!

Congrats bubba! That's such a great story, I hope mine is as good!

Glad to hear you're feeling better kcoffin, I'm starting to get a bit scared of the notorious babyblues.

I'm sitting on the sofa while my lovely mum is cleaning my fridge

Alicetheinvisible · 02/08/2010 15:54

Quick poll for you lovelies:

Do you think it is ok to ask friends/family to help you get some stuff done before the baby arrives, or should you just wait until someone offers?

sparkle101 · 02/08/2010 16:07

Many congrats bubba I'd like a birth story like that please!

mrszac It looks like I'll be hanging around at the end too. I can organise cake for the ladies that haven't popped yet to make the wait worthwhile!

Am loving the idea of a swearbox - the amount of rude words coming out now I'm sure there are some babies due very soon!

Alice am unsure of this one too - my in laws are being mucho helpful whereas my parents came round last week and said the house was a mess and I need to get a move on to get it all done before the baby gets here and maye consider trying to keep it cleaner with the baby - I think I could ask them but think it would get me no where! Depends on the person I suppose!

Alicetheinvisible · 02/08/2010 16:10

Hmmm, i have started thread about it.

Has anyone seen starshaker's FB status? You must look!

sparkle101 · 02/08/2010 16:38

OMG how exciting!!!!

Alicetheinvisible · 02/08/2010 17:22

Have got some help this week (yay!)

Friend is taking DD out with her while she walks her dog tomorrow, so should have about an hour to get everywhere hoovered with the enormous industrial hoover, plus DD may end up napping afterwards = bonus!

Paying a girl at the yard to do the horses on thursday, so that saves me a few hours, plus my dad is coming over after work that day to help me move some furniture around.

This way DH and i can spend time doing stuff that we need to do like sorting out books and paperwork and linen etc (joint decisions)

Feeling calmer now, but have a lot of cakes to make!

pamplem0usse · 02/08/2010 18:15

Pray tell about Starshakers status.... I'm not FB friends with her!
And well done on getting some help Alice I think it's completely appropriate to be asking for help pre-baby (as well as post!) especially if you have horses to look after! And joint jobs are so frustrating if the time that needs to be used to do them is taken up doing other things....
Just made a couple of batches of tomato sauce and mushroom and lentil ragu for the freezer.... tomorrow lamb and roasted veg stew and spinach filo parcels.... ahh!

sparkle101 · 02/08/2010 18:21

Star has written..... "guess what I'm doing tomorrow" and in the comments it turns out she's going in to have the abies at half one....

Exciting!

Aussieng · 02/08/2010 19:32

Congrats Bubba. Pample - please come on here and moan when you need to that's what we're here for and you were lovely to me when I was stressed out with work.

Glad you're feeling better Kcoffin & hope your son is ok babyd.

Don't be too sure you'll be bringing up the rear MrsZ as someone said - these babies can be tricksy.

Alice glad you got some help and well done Chulita!!!

Loved the swearing session ladies . DH and I are working very hard to modify our language right now... perhaps a swear box would help?

LittleMissSnowShine · 02/08/2010 19:42

Congrats on baby Aidan, bubba!! Lovely name and well done you on getting the whole way to 6cm with no pain relief. You're my hero!!

Pample/ Chulita - I'm having similar issues thinking about bfing. The idea of just whipping a boob out in public takes some getting used to lol but I'm sure I can probably get used to it and I'll prob just try and frequent places which have a liberal, laid back attitude towards it. But, like Chulita not liking doing it at family parties I think doing it in front of my dad/FIL/bro in law etc will be nerve wracking! Hospital advised us to restrict visitors as much as poss for first few days while feeding pattern is being established but can hardly just ban all the men while I get comfortable with the idea of breastfeeding. Hmmm

Today I cooked up big batches of chicken curry and chili, enough to do dinners this week and dinners for the freezer. Also managed to wash a load of clothes and sell a few random things on gumtree woo hoo!! Tomorrow - more washing, two lasagnes, a tray or two of raspberry muffins and tackling the bathroom and final PhD corrections. At least it's all keeping me too busy to start freaking out about the baby arriving

Tonight, glass of First Cape 5% vino, trashy movie to watch (anyone seen that Remember Me one?) and general chill out tho lol

Got fingers and everything else crossed for Star!! Any more baby news?? Heard about a girl today who managed to go into labour by blowing up balloons lol

LittleMissSnowShine · 02/08/2010 19:47

PS) Alice - I agree, depends on the person! A friend of mine has offered to help us do anything at all around the house but her baby was stillborn 8 weeks ago and she's already given me a tonne of maternity clothes, baby books, unopened packets of baby grows, a bottle warmer etc. So I'd feel terrible asking her to do anything else..

Both my mum and MIL always say if there's anything they can do etc etc but I'm planning to cash in a lot of those favours when the baby actually arrives in terms of helping me keep on top of the washing/cooking/babysitting etc

But I'd say if there's anything you're genuinely worried/stressed about getting finished before your LO arrives then definitely ask for help. I'd hate to think a friend of mine would be worrying about something I could help her with and she didn't say anything!

Chulita · 02/08/2010 19:53

Right, I'm expressing off the right boob, it's absolute agony. I can't let Sam latch without crying, a week of Fluconazole has done FA and I'm really struggling. Can't just let him feed off the left one though...

If I'm with family I just excuse myself and potter off upstairs to feed. I won't feed in front of FIL cos he's got issues anyway.

girlsyearapart · 02/08/2010 19:55

congrats bubba glad things kicked off naturally for you enjoy him

Dd2 seems to have responded to the baby by refusing to go to bed without screaming. Put to bed at 715 and is still screaming..

Dh gets her up and out but I don't as my evenings are sacred and he's alwys at wk. There's nowt wrong with her- the minute you take her out she stops and smiles

Secong public bf today- in the restaurant part of the chip shop! Tilly had millk on her face afterwards. Had never even seen any milk before and this is my 3rd child!!

littlemiss let me know if Remember Me is any good I have it on my lovefilm list.

LittleMissSnowShine · 02/08/2010 20:14

gya - think i've decided on youth in revolt for tonight cos i love michael cera, he always makes me giggle. i have remember me to watch as well tho, it looks much more brooding but also quite fun. have to keep reminding myself that i'm now supposed to be on maternity leave so if i get loads of stuff done during the day i really need to put my feet up in front of tv at night, don't know where all this energy is coming from! away to fire up dvd player now and pour some wine - must not clean/cook/wash anything else for at least 12 hours lol

vitapulchra · 02/08/2010 20:51

Congratulations, Bubbabear! What a fantastic delivery you had, esp. for your first time! I'm truly amazed. Here's an updated list in honour of little Aidan.

Congratulations Bubba!! Lovely name, fantastic birth story . I'm getting a nice warm feeling thinking about you snuggled up with your little one tonight.

kcoffin I'm SO glad things are feeling better for you. From the sound of it you're doing fantastically well. Great that you've had a better MW to put your mind at ease.

Babyducky sorry to hear about your DS. I haven't had my first A&E trip with DS yet, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time. He managed to fall head first off a chair today, but seems to be ok...

sparkle I can't believe your parents said that to you . Hand them a bloody duster next time (50p to the swear box). Honestly, the nerve of some people. I hope you paid them absolutely no attention whatsoever .

Littlemiss I'm so sorry about your friend's baby . But what a completely lovely friend she sounds.

Right, I'm off to bed. Had a mixed day today - DS had his best day at pre-school yet, thoroughly loved it, but then was so knackered that he's been a total monster all afternoon. I really must give myself an early night, because I'm actually sleeping like a log at the moment (sorry ), but DS is waking up at 6.15am-ish, so I must go now to take advantage of a proper 8 hour kip for one of the last nights in who knows how long.

Wow, almost forgot - good luck for tomorrow, Star!!

CellyD · 02/08/2010 23:09

Congratulations Bubba, glad you and Aidan are well. Good luck for tomorrow Star hope all goes well. KCoffin glad you are doing better now.

I am so impressed with everyone who is persevering with the BFing. In a couple of weeks, you will all be comforting us and providing good advice, particularly for us first timers.

As to the asking friends for help question, my DP won't even ask his relatives for help, whereas I have rather shamelessly asked one of my best mates to help me give the kitchen diner a spring clean on Sunday. Hopefully at least one room in the house will be tidy before baby arrives.

On a separate more soppy note, I also wanted to say how helpful you guys have all been over the last few months, I've found being pregnant quite lonely as the majority of my friends do not have children so don't know what it's like and the ones that do are busy being Mums so have no time for my day to day dilemmas and trivia, it's been really nice to read these threads and realise that I could ask questions and discuss things if I needed to.

bouncingblueberries · 02/08/2010 23:33

chulita please go and get some daktarin oral gel for Sam tomorrow - both of you MUST be treated if you're going to beat this. And you will beat it, because you're doing a great job. Also ask for 1% canedtan cream yonput on uour nipples. In the meantime try using a mild vinegar solution on your nipples after each feed - helps make your nipples inhospitable to the yeast.

Really crap afternoon here. Ds1 in meltdown mode ended in both boys screaming and me in tears. Poor ds1 - anything he tries to eat just hurts his throat too much and he can't nderstan why I can't magic the pain away

Alicetheinvisible · 03/08/2010 01:38

Up again. Heartburn (my own fault for eating cake before bed ) and general restlessness. I have that horrible inevitableness feeling you know? Bit like when you are a kid and starting a new school - you know it is going to be scary but you are excited at the same time with butterflies and feeling a bit sick.

Sat on ball, baby has been going mad, think he has turned back to back again so can feel every kick.

Elusive and Pample in my dream this evening (yes i have slept for a bit) one of you were next, but it was muddled so not sure which. (no i am not physic phsyco possessed of special powers, just plain mad)

Nikalah · 03/08/2010 08:39

Morning!

Congratulations Bubbabear

Absolutely nothing from me, aside some period type pains. My mum is coming to 'sit' with me today? Might get her making some lasagnas to stick in the freezer!

A little worried about the baby not being in exactly the right position when labour kicks off - are most babies is the right position or rarely?

Back to bouncing on ball.....

Alicetheinvisible · 03/08/2010 08:46

Morning Nikalah mine is constantly shifting but everytime i see the MW he is in the same position she has always seen him in - the perfect position typical! My friend's little boy was back to back until labour when he turned and was out in 4hrs.

Definitely put your mum to use!

DD didn't wake up til 8am this morning, i knew she was over tired yesterday, as she becomes so manic! Going to see a friend today and her DD's and all the animals, DD loves it there. Trying to book something in for everyday this week so i don't get bored and stressed.

Right, must get going, have a good day all
