.....in fact a lot earlier ! Born during the night of the 27th and 27 weeks gestation. He is doing well...though very wee at 775 grms. Early days....
Any words of wisdom/advice from fellow prem parents ? Our DTs were 32 weeks but this is another league...

mozhe - congratulations wee wt gain - horay nice to see u posting - take care

eleusis · 10/07/2007 22:46

Oh Mozhe, I've just seen this. Huge congratulations. DH's nephew was born at "4 months" (25 weeks?). They didn't think he would make it. My BIL says he was so small he could hold him in the palm of his hand (with legs and arms dangling over of course. They had to go buy him clothes for a teddy bear beacause anything made for premies was just huge. He is 10 now and has no developmental problems. So, definately, a happy ending.

mozhe · 11/07/2007 16:02

Thanks Eleusis !

How is the little guy? And how are you?

mozhe · 12/07/2007 09:27

I am feeling great....it was such a quick birth,( 30 mins..), and he was so little...I really feel as if I haven't given birth at all !! Am still feeding one of the twins so don't even feel any different interms of milk coming in.
Tristan is lovely....just weighed today and 725 grms, so beginning to put his birthweight back on, he is ventilated still...but the settings are stesdily comiing down.Otherwise everything with h im is well.
I plan to go back to work next monday as he will be in for a long time yet and my department is on the same campus as the hospital....watching a tiny,( very sleepy ),LO grow IS a bit like watching paint dry
We hope to hold him soon...just one small cuddle so far, just after he was born, literally for seconds...so that is next milestone !

Ahhhh.... glad he's doing well. Emailed PPH last night for you BTW.

eleusis · 12/07/2007 10:29

Oh, so glad he is doing well. 27 weeks sounds sooo early. But, the prognosis sounds really positive.

Keep us posted. And send me some pics if you have a chance.

mozhe · 12/07/2007 12:11

Merci Tickle...Pics are banned in the NICU section,( I know ....the official photographer is allowed, we have one but he looks awful in that...I've put in for an updated one...), though fine in the SCBU part...when he graduates to that !!
EVEN Prems are subjected to french bureaucracy.....

They won't let you take pics of your baby?

MarsLady · 12/07/2007 12:20

Just seen this. Congratulations. Hope baby Mozhe is doing well. Probably just keen to meet the DTs.

Hope you are looking after yourself as well as the wee man.

mozhe · 12/07/2007 14:48

Yes in the NICU section....only the ' medical photographer' is allowed to take photos...for the parents. There seems to be a limit on him being available too....asked this am.....there was a great deal of huffing and puffing

OP posts:
mozhe · 12/07/2007 14:50

Asked the reason for this early on ......was told ' it is to protect the children ', in a very definite manner,( like only the french in official modality can do...)...

What if you smuggle in a camera of your own? How will they know? Nice little Camera phone ought to cover it.

mozhe · 12/07/2007 15:25

Don't know.....would they pop Tristan in my handbag and show me the door

OP posts:
LittleLupin · 12/07/2007 15:39

Lovely name BTW

Marina · 12/07/2007 15:40

I bet French NICUs are swarming with beady-eyed staff though Eleusis
Sounds a bit officious mozhe, but glad to hear he is doing well

mozhe · 12/07/2007 15:47

They are a bit officious....but am sitting here, laptopping away, with nice cafe creme and patisserie by my side....and have just had lovely foot massage ...so can't really complain...too much !

OP posts:
Marina · 12/07/2007 15:59

I am tickled by the idea that you can tuck in to quality patisserie in your NICU but not photograph little Tristan
Still you are together and both getting plenty to eat which has to be good news

Biglips · 12/07/2007 16:01

awwww...congrats xxxx

Can i ask why he decide to arrive early?

aww 775grams!!...i cant imagine how small he is . awwww i love tiny babies

mozhe · 12/07/2007 16:05

We don't know why he arrived early.....the bag of waters sprung a leak...that's as much as we can tell....

Biglips - going to sound a right moaner here but these babies are tiny because they have been born too soon. DD2 (13 weeks prem) WAS tiny - but alongside the cuteness of being so small was the awfulness of the many many problems that can be associated with prematurity. Mozhe - you sound so in control, i really admire you. For us, and all my extended family, it was a traumatic time, where we lived hour by hour, and jumped every time the phone rang. It was quite honestly one of the worst times of my life, an experience i would not wish on my worst enemy - and really we had a fairly straightforward ride through SCBU (only there for 11 weeks). We will not be having any more children for a variety of reasons, one of the main being that i would not willingly put myself, any of my family, and most especially another baby through what my very special and brave little girl had to go through to be with us today.
Mozhe - i wish little Tristan a smooth ride through SCBU and look forward to you announcing his homecoming.

mozhe · 12/07/2007 20:38

Fair enough comments....I am a relaxed sort of person....AND I have been here before with DTs...only a year ago.
Things have been going well...I focus on that.
Lots of CBT in the past have taught me to thik like that...

Biglips · 12/07/2007 20:45

babyjamas - yes i agree with you totally....sorry if it came out wrong and i do hope he will get home to his loving home soon xx

mozhe · 12/07/2007 20:49

He'd better be big and strong before he comes home to this mad house...I can tell you !!
