.....in fact a lot earlier ! Born during the night of the 27th and 27 weeks gestation. He is doing well...though very wee at 775 grms. Early days....
Any words of wisdom/advice from fellow prem parents ? Our DTs were 32 weeks but this is another league...

heck

congratulations!

lulumama · 02/07/2007 12:58

Congratulations! hope that Tristan continues to thrive, and gain weight and can be home with you all soon

My cousin;s daughter was born at 24 weeks, IIRC, and very tiny, and seems to have no long term health issues..is walking, talking, and meeting her milestones...she is 3 now....

wishing you all the best x

lulumama · 02/07/2007 12:58

oh, lots of skin to skin, as much as you can !

bossykate · 02/07/2007 13:00

congratulations and the very best of luck to you and your new v. little one.

meandmyflyingmachine · 02/07/2007 13:40

Mozhe - I'm sure you know all about it anyway, given your profession, but here's a link to a study on Kangaroo care.

Thinking of you and Tristan (and all the rest of the family...)

MollyCoddle · 02/07/2007 13:49

HUGE congratulations on the birth of your little boy! What a shock for you all though. Hope you find lots of support and advice on here

oooggs · 02/07/2007 13:54

hope you are both keeping well, congratulations - my singleton was earlier than my dt's too. But not that early.

Loshad · 02/07/2007 13:58

many congratulations - hope little Tristan goes from strength to strength.

j20baby · 02/07/2007 14:00

wow!! congratulations! hope everything is fine for him

jakethepeg · 02/07/2007 16:45

Congratulations!!

I had my son at 27 weeks exactly in 2004. My waters went unexpectedly but I had him 3 days later. He weighed 890g (1lb 15oz). He was in hospital for 10 weeks and we had our fair share of ups and downs but I am pleased to say he is 3 now and is fine!

He is skinnier than most of his friends but very tall too and so is his dad so people think he just takes after him.

He is a clever, bright, happy little boy who doesn't seem to have suffered from his early start.

The Bliss website is fab and if you have any queries/worries then go onto their messageboard and you'll find the answers, the people on there are so informative.

I'll be checking for progress of your little man.

Goodness me - what a dramatic entry into the world!

Congratulations Mozhe

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/07/2007 16:53

Congratulations Mozhe, and I hope the wee soul goes from strength to strength.

thelittleElf · 02/07/2007 16:54

Wow congratulations! A dear friend of mine had her first baby at only 24 weeks gestation. It was a rough road, but he was a little fighter from the very beginning. Infact there was a point where he didn't even need help with his breathing which is increadable for one so small. He is now a strapping 7yr old with no medical or developmental issues at all . I wish you all well xx

gess · 02/07/2007 16:56

Fantastic news
Congrats!

mozhe · 03/07/2007 10:18

Thank you for all your good wishes...he is doing fine, really absolutely no problems so far....I know only too well that it is very early days as yet so massive fingers XX
Thank you for kangaroo care link...I did already know a bit about it and tried it with DTs,( 32 weekers ), and enjoyed it as they did...a bit early for Tristan though as he is still ventillated..but definitely as soon as we can.
He will be in hospital for a while....very, very conveniently it is on te university campus site where I work ...so as soon as I'm 2 weeks post natal,( there is some bureaucratic/insurance related reason for this...it IS France after all!)..I can combine work and being with Tristan...like most prems he sleeps an awful lot,( about 20/24hrs....he has a lot of growing to do !!), so I imagine this will work well.
I am feeling fine and the intense/heady euphoria of the last few days is beginning to level off a bit and feel much more practical and normal now that I am back home with the rabble !!
We have decided to put keep our arrangements with the maternity nurse and she will com e to us in October as previously planned...as this is likely to be round about when Tristan will come home....we have an aupair starting in september so hopefully the 'Mozhe' household will be ok..and DH still planning a month off in October too !
ggglimpo....how are you feeling ?
